...that's right. In this episode, Im going to add in some AI to this drone so that it will recognize gesture commands to take off and land, just like how DJI does with its air gesture commands. To find how I did it and how I recovered the drone from a near fatal crash, we have to go back 2 weeks... back when I began the planning phase of the AI and Computer Vision development. In this phase I defined the gestures that it should have, which were Take Off, Land and Follow. It would have been really nice to integrate all 10 gestures that DJI features on its drones, but due to time constraints I had to stick with the basics. .

So how it works is that on boot up, the smart camera will detect me and once I give the command to takeoff which is like this....Yeah I know I look like a cheer leader doing this, but anywhere the drone will spin its rotors and fly into the sky until a certain altitude is reached. Then the drone should, on detection, follow me around along its yaw axis until I give the Naruto run command to Land. Now keep in mind that we want to avoid unintentional commands, So when the drone is flying, we dont want to take off again or when its landed, we dont want it to take off again by mistake.
I mean imagine I go to pick up the drone and then the rotors spin right into my face. [aah]..That would not be pretty. So we'll need to code some additional logic to ensure that this doesn't happen.

Hey, would you happen to know how you are connected to the drone without a transmitter? does your drone use a receiver? or is there a another piece of hardware that allows for this communication?
The drone has a reciever but the code is stored on board the raspberry pi. So you can remote desktop into the pi. And start the code from there

Yes its better to use PID for the computer vision code.
how long does the battery last with the AI processing?
15 to 20 minutes with a 6000mAh battery

It is possible but you'll won't get the same capabilites as the OpenCV AI Kit in terms of performance.

Why not TPU + Pi ?
It is an alternative but OpenCV AI Kit has built in AI so it takes off the load from the Pi. Normally the image from the camera has to travel to the TPU. Here it's all done on the camera.

Hey mate, you should offer your services to Ukraine Military. Russians have signal jammers to stop RC. AI should be able to fly by vectors and cameras. Kamikaze drones needed desperately, make a fortune. You supply the drones, they supply the explosives. Good luck.
