    Just to clarify on my comment near the end: I confirmed with the supplier that the ONLY difference between the 246 and 249 model is the screen size. So if you'd primarily use this with a computer and/or a separate monitor, then the 246 model is the way to go at a notably less cost. Cheers!

    All the monitor's weight sits on the arm holding the microscope itself -is this a good or bad design? Moving that combined weight up, down and around whenever repositioning. Is that suboptimal?

      I'd call it necessary design because there's no other sensible location for the monitor unless it were separated from the scope/mount. Fortunately the monitor is very light so I didn't find it problematic.

    Being able to move the scope forward or back is a huge plus that most other microscopes don't do. Having a bigger base plate helps as well. This seems to be using the same generic chinese UI that alot of the cheaper scopes use but as long as the screen quality is great, who cares.
