Same for me, I just saw a couple people complain that the touch sensors start giving problems down the road. Hopefully the newest ones have solved that problem
Hot dog, what a pleasant surprise - seeing this on my YT front page. Looks great, man! Your editing skills are always getting better and more professional. I'm excited to play some Golden Sun on this bad boi.
Thanks for the kind words bud, hope you enjoy! After seeing the result I'm thinking about making one up for myself now. This seems like the best way to enjoy the handheld (tied with an AGS-101 for the purists).
Awesome upgrade! My OCD went into defcon 1 staring at that tiny piece of plastic film the whole time, but I'm glad it was removed. I can rest easy now 😅
Great video! I’ve never tried this myself but I think you can remove stickers with alcohol, then when it evaporates you can stick it again, I saw it in a lockpicking lawyer video once. He was applying it with a syringe 💉
You are correct! And I have done that with good results on older systems (mostly when a screw is hiding under them that you need to access), but since this stuff was brand new I decided it was best to leave it. I figure the imperfect centering would probably go unnoticed by most unless they're real sticklers like me ;)
I have shakey hands, too, applying stickers to gameboy cartridges gets pretty intense for me 😂. Nice guide also I just ordered this kit so definitely going to use this as a reference
@FantasticQuack I just got done with it last night took almost 3 hours because the bracket just didn't seem right. The top left of the screen had too much pressure. I eventually found the sweet spot
I found this video suggestion on my feed and found it very entertaining and kinda nostalgic, i happen to still have 3 gba sp, and since 2 are special editions i was thinking about making also the 3rd one into one. If you don't mind, can i ask why do you have shaky hands? It happens to me aswell when i have to do precision tasks
Glad you stopped by! I don't think anything caused the shaky hands I've just always had it, but I've never let it deter me from working on very fine/precise things--just have to adjust my aim a few times lol. Check out my portable GameCube video for some very tiny soldering! Wish you the best with those SP's!
Having shaky hands too, since i am kid. In general it comes from blockages in the arm & shoulder muscles (also blockages in your brain. If you cant relaxe mentally, your body cant either). The tiny muscles surronding your joints & bones dont get enough blood/energy etc. So they compromise it by shaking. Parkinson in general comes from the same origin. So its not a wrong thing like many say. Actually its your brain trying to save ya. Start implementing muscle shaking exercises. Especially when you are doing any sport. Because this is what fucked you up mostly. Or just using your muscles in a to stiff way. That was my problem. So shake them. Support your body with what it is trying to do anyway. Muscle relaxation & shaking exercises. Some vibrations are also good. There are hand massage pistols. Use them too
You can keep the original shell but it requires modification to the plastic for the new screen, battery, and USB-C port. So whether you want to go through that extra effort/risk, and if you want a new color scheme on the exterior, both play into the decision here. There's no wrong answer, but will say I'm surprised how far these aftermarket shells have come in terms of quality. Thanks for stopping by, cheers!
Seeing your hands shaking while doing this was so painful because I, too, have shaky as hell hands. All I have to do is hold something with any small amount of pressure and it'll be shaking like mad. While I don't have a GBA (I have a GBA SP) this is something I'm tempted to do, along with the Gameboy Macro DS Lite mod and maybe trying to put a better screen on my GBA SP, and seeing you manage this with shaky hands has given me a bit of hope that I'd be able to do it.
Magnífico tutorial! Te quedó una GBA muy bonita y funcional, además de mostrar todo el proceso paso a paso. Me encantan este tipo de videos de modificaciones de la GBA, saludos desde España!
It's not necessarily something I'm trying to "cure" because it hasn't ever prevented me from doing anything, but thanks for the tips I will look into it!
Crazy! But what about the shell? I hear that these replacement shells often don't fit perfectly in one way or the other, or feel like they're made of lower quality materials. What is this one like?
I had no issue or complaints with this shell, everything fit just fine. The quality/feel will never be quite as good as OEM, but it's about as close as you can get to the point where the difference is negligible.
5:30 kind of wondering about this now. I didnt bend my ribbon for the touch sensor. The video tutorial I followed by the mod supplier, 'Handheld Legend' did not fold it. I was wondering if there was any difference anyway, because I noticed the piece of tape? on the back of the ribbon. Everything stills works fine anyway
the tape was on the top surface of mine, so I had to fold it over to stick it down. It's a capacitive sensor so I expect it would work in either direction. I was just going based on where the pre-installed tape was located.
You have to remove those and charge them in a separate adapter. Here you can plug in the GBA just like your phone so the answer is really just convenience.
No, the 3 wires just give you the option to make screen adjustments with the buttons in addition to the touch screen. Double check that the screen cable is connected properly
Hey would you happen to know if the battery fits in to a V5 HiSpeedido shell if I just buy the FunnyPlaying battery door? I think the battery is too large for my current mod. Thank you!
I bought rechargable aa batterys 5 buks for 4 2100mah 5 buks for charger. Cheaper and twice the mah, 1.2v instead of 3.7v with the aa tho. But no problems untill now. owh and i destroyed a perfect gba motherboard with this mod replaced caps and fuse but its dead. Had to buy a replacement. So remember this takes more juice and can destroy your board
Wow the fact that is completely solderless is amazing, I don’t own a soldering iron so something like this is perfect 🤩
I agree, such a cool mod!

Omg what a beauty
Thanks I thought so too!
I watched countless videos and finally came across yours. This was the perfect video!!!! Thank you soooo much
Thank you for the kind words!
I think we should normalise keeping the original case. I think they look pretty good on the GBA.

We ordered the same case, good taste new sub 👍
After my own heart
Regarding the shaky hands, I am no expert on this, but you can try to take Zinc with Vitamin C, it should improve it
It's not necessarily something I'm trying to "cure" because it hasn't ever prevented me from doing anything, but thanks for the tips I will look into it!

i love these types of videos, but theyre almost always shorts. long form is where its at lets gooo
I don't really do shorts so you're in luck here! Thanks for watching :)
@@FantasticQuack let’s gooo i’m glad i stumbled across your channel i’ve been loving the few videos i’ve seen
Great video! Is it safe to use isopropyl alcohol without gloves? Im completely noob.
I do it all the time but gloves wouldn't hurt since alcohol does dry out your hands
Is the song after your intro from Sonic Unleashed?

Where did u buy the pink start/select buttons? It’s not included in the link for GBA buttons you included.
A friend provided everything here so the links came from him, but I think I found it so check the description again I added a new link :)
Genuine question: why not just buy rechargeable batteries like Enloops rather than going through the trouble of modding?
You have to remove those and charge them in a separate adapter. Here you can plug in the GBA just like your phone so the answer is really just convenience.
is soldering the 3 wire required?? i got mune but its black screen, i dont know if i need to solder that 3 wires or not.
No, the 3 wires just give you the option to make screen adjustments with the buttons in addition to the touch screen. Double check that the screen cable is connected properly

I can't say for sure since I've never worked with one of those shells :/
My screen ribbon will not seat in the cable ribbon that comes from the mobo. The little brown hinge won't shut. Any suggestions?
I would need to see this in person or an image of it to know what's going on. Are you saying the cable is too thick?
Does the IPS screen kit work for the original case?
I believe it can but you have to modify/cut some of the plastic from the shell so do so at your own risk!
@@FantasticQuack Ok I'll take it into account. Thanks for the clarification.

Kind of hard to understand what all you're saying here, but the mod shown in this video is perfectly safe to the board when installed properly.
How many time the battery supports?
Sorry, I do not understand the question :/
How does the battery connect to powering the system?
It connects to the board terminals the same was the original AA batteries did
@@FantasticQuack oh I see only one side is taken out.
Does it work for GBA model agb 001?
Yes, there are two ends of the screen cable so that you can use one or the based on the board version.
What kind of tape is that again? I'm new to modding
any double sided tape will work, such as: amzn.to/43LTvX8
You didn't update the sound
Correct
Good mod 👍
Thank you!
Can you play it while charging?
Yes
Wait did you say to let the membrane dry next to a full jug of apple juice?! LOL WTF Why?
It's important
Amazing content, subbed!
Welcome aboard and thanks for the kind words!
