With the aid of your 4 videos, we were able to repair a friends leaking front forks on his VTX 1800 trike, saving him hundreds of dollars. Thanks for taking the time to share this information with all the DIY mechanics!
Out of 16 motorcycles over the years this VTX1800 is the first I've needed to replace the fork seals. Thanks to your videos it's a fairly easy job to do. I appreciate your doing them. A question that nobody seems to know the answer to is "Why are the two fork legs different in design"? I thought they would just be mirror images of each other, but the internals are very different. Would you know? Thanks.
Damn fine video, Sir! I believe VTX1800 and Valkyrie 1500 share the same forks. You might want to add Valkyrie to your video title, to help all the Valk riders out there since we don’t have a video like this for our forks.
let me ask you a question I want to buy a Honda VTX 1800 but I like the wheels that are on a Harley Davidson fatboy would the Harley Davidson fatboy wheels fit a Honda VTX 1800?
robert S No they won't but there are 3 types of stock rims on 1800 models. Compare the R, F and S models. 2 are cast and 1 is spokes. Also, there's TONS of aftermarket killer rims out there. Check out RCcomponents
Great video! I just got a quote from the Honda dealer to replace my fork seals and this helped me decide to do it myself!
Thank you for this series of videos. It gave me the confidence to complete this repair and saving me hundreds of dollars in the process.

Any idea how much in parts plus labor a shop would charge for fixing a leak on just one front shock? I have an 03 vtx1800R if that helps
Hello I have a 2004 vtc 1800c the procedure is the same for this model as seen in the video
how much travel should the suspension have once put back together? mine moves about 1 inch down with compression
I wonder if we can put two oil seals in there; if one is broken, the other can take over. That way, we never need to deal with forks
great video.
