It's a great amp. I've played Fender Reverbs (and Twins) for over 32yrs and this is my first Marshall. For the money, this is Big Marshall big dollar sound in it's most portable and cheapest form. I dunno, to me it was worth the investment vs a DSL or Origin. Neither give you this tone.

Somewhere in the 6:40 minutes of demo should have been a least a few strums of full bar or open chords employing all the strings with the amp set at the clean/breakup point to determine those sounds, instead of wall to wall leads and licks.
I giggled with my mini jubilee for the first time yesterday and it performed flawlessly. Beautiful, clear, full tone. I was next to a 100w head that was some other Marshall, and my amp blew past it in clarity and volume control. The amp was a gift from my dad and I'm really appreciative of it. It's a seriously amazing package.

I know Joe Bonamassa uses silver jubilees and gets an incredible Blues tone. But this to me just sounds muddy buzzy like a bunch of very angry bees and almost impossible to distinguish one note from the next.

It's a good thing we have all of these "experts" to let us know how much this amp sucks. I owned a 1989 JCM 800 head for 15 years and this sounds better.
is that still your opinion? in what way do you think it sounds better? (this is an actual question, not sarcasm) i'm interested in eventually probably doing a clone kit of the 800 on turret board, but first i'll probably either get a mini jubilee or sc20c/h (which should have an ok resale value)

Pathetic sounding Marshall! I have a 1980's built UK made Marshall studio 15 4001 that kills this amp. Better cleans & thicker high gain tones + plus a headphone out . Re make that amp. You can get them around $800.00
How can you make sound this amp like shit ! ??? I don't know if it is the mic positioning with a miss on the phase alignment between the twos, or if it was sounding like this in the room, but common , it is one of the worst sound of this amp i ever heard!
One does not simply play under the bridge on the Bridge Pickup.

Odin Runes I think Paul plays great. This guy reminds me of those 1960s guitarists who loves the fuzzy sound too much. Not bad playing, though.
I have the head version with vertical 2x12 slant cab. It sounds incredible!! I don’t even know how this guy made it sound so bad.
Simple. He's using Greenback speaker. Your's are Vintage 30's. Jubilee's need Vintage 30's it was designed around this speaker back in the 80's
Can't really judge the "clean" tone using only the bridge pickup of a Strat. The sound of a clean neck humbucker is important too.

I just did a review of this amp - the head version anyway. It has a great edge of breakup tone. Definitely my favorite marshall for lugging to gigs.

think this guy didn't really demostrate any of the tones he was talking about. all the settings sounded screwed or the recording was simply rubbish.
At this point I think it's safe to say if you want a premium classic Marshall sound, get a Friedman.
