Rob's independence exercises are perfect for me. Self taught would-drummer who can't get to grips with Gary Chester's system in page format... And these grooves all sound so cool, even when not played by Rob on those slinky smooth Yammy PHX's. Massive thanks.
Thanks Rob, I learn from you every time I watch one of your vids! I am a old drummer that took a 47 year hiatus so I am starting over at 62. I am having a blast and you have been a tremendous help already!! Cheers!
As someone whose eyes glaze over at the sight of complex drum notation, I so appreciate your method of slowing and breaking a groove right down. You take all the pain and frustration out of it for me ❤
There are a small handful of drummers on TH-cam who have really taught me a lot. You're videos are a godsend for any aspiring drummers. Appreciate the wisdom :)
i can guarantee this secret tip will be juicer than my family's thanksgiving turkey. :) thank you for sharing. i almost got the first one down. gonna shock my drum teacher with this limb independence
i just picked up a cx pdp made in mexico black onyx and deep cleaned it brought it back to life this will be the first groove i absolutely hammer into.
Awesome and groovy stuff for building foot ostinatos, when i was coming up one of my teachers was adamant that this was the only way to be a good drumset player.
BIG ROB HAPPIEST THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOURS THOSE ARE SMOKIN HOT THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU ARE HANDS DOWN UN EQUIVICALLY ONE OF THE BEST ON THE TUIBE GIVEN DA DRUMMER SOME✌🙏
Thanks man. I've actually been trying to get good independence and I think it's decent. It's just, I don't know. I want to do more advanced drumming. But I'm still working towards that. It might be time for a new snare head tbh...
@drumkick2315 Yeah, I know. It's a feeling that can hold a drummer back for me. It's probably because I still haven't reached the level of most professional drums and I know I've been drumming for years now.
That right needs to be your follow thru on the floor tom. Or, switch to your left on the ride. That over-handed crossing is a mess for open-handed players.
Will be practicing these for sure! If you threw off the snares and inserted a splash or two, #2 would be a Manu Katche groove. Very cool! p.s. what was that little hand dance in the beginning? It was like a cross-between Vogue-era Madonna and Devo. 😂

Absolute killa
Awesome grooves. This is reminiscent of Vinnie Colaiuta's drumking style. Really good lessons. Cheers, Rob! 👍👍✌️🥁🇨🇦
Thank you, good info. This goes well with the previous video of yours about open handed drumming.
i just picked up a cx pdp made in mexico black onyx and deep cleaned it brought it back to life this will be the first groove i absolutely hammer into.
Great exercise Rob! got to work on this one. Following from Nashville.
You come up with the greatest lessons. I appreciate you.

Love these Rob these actually some African grooves especially 1&2
Good morning Rob, Thanks for sharing and have a Great Day!!! :)
Great independence grooves, Rob. #2 immediately reminded me of Manu Katche’s track on Robbie Robertson’s ‘Somewhere Down the Lazy River’!
GENIUS... 👌👌👌 thank you
Rob As Always You Are The Man ❤❤❤
Now way I can do this but I'm happy I could count it out in my head and know what you're doing.
Very nice RB that has really open my eyes up more I needed that.
Cheers Rob, appreciate your time and knowledge.
I like it!!! I'm more of an "old-school" drummer who can play it, but I have no clue how to explain it, and if I slow it down, I'm lost.
Thanks for this! Love from Belfast.
Thank You ✨
so fire thank you so much!!!!!!
Wow

I am working constantly to become more advanced, although I feel I am still a beginner.

Thank you sir!!🤘🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Happy belated Birthday🎉🎂🥁🎼🤘🏻
Nice thank you 😁

Hi Rob, great stuff!! Where can I find the PDF?🙃
Well these exercises show me how awful I am.
No, my dear friend, it shows where you can go when put time into practice. But I know the feeling.
You're not awful. Put in the time and you'll get it. You might just be in the beginning stage of mastery.
Nah. Just shows what needs improving 👊🏽
@@drumkick2315I feel the same hahaha !!!!
What doesn’t kill ya will only make ya stronger. 😀🫰🏼🎶
I'm trying to learn to play open. Will these work well for that?
Rob , love the shoes. They look like a Karate type shoe. I used to wear when gigging.? Can’t find them anywhere!
They’re Puma Drift Cat 5 Motorsport. I’ve got a few pairs 🔥Great shoes to play in.
Hey Rob. Enjoy the videos. How’s that Yamaha FP9C pedal working out for you? I’m really thinking of getting one.

- "Whoopsie !"
Hi Rob Brown,
What size bass drum do you use and what sort of skins does it have?
22x18” on this kit with a UV EQ4 on it. EQ3 on the front
@@RobBeatdownBrown Thank you, reason I ask this is because I have a 20 x 16, yours sounds like a bass drum should sound.
Rob what hats are those?
Those are 14” Signature Precision hats
Where is PDF?
Where’s the new Yamaha foot pedal , man!!!🤔🥁✌️
Thas my gigging pedal, man. I’ve got a lot of miles on it already 🔥

Like it. Cain't do it.
....Or like Camille Bigeault 😂
This is beyond frustrating
