Our local Borders was hopping on Friday and Saturday nights back then. It was an amazing, packed social experience. I got several first dates there browsing books.
I love and miss bookstores. At the time of this post there's only one "near" me and that's a Barnes and Noble roughly 90 minutes away almost across state lines. I loved being inside Borders, it was my favorite bookstore. So cozy and relaxed and comfortable. This is nice footage to see.

In the 1980’s and 1990’s, I used to shop for books for my children at Borders. Really miss these stores. Thank you for this video. It brings back lots of memories.
I had a Borders near where I live in Australia, I could stay in there for, sit down on their incredibly comfortable chairs and pretty much read the books that weren't wrapped in plastic, thankfully that was only a few of them, really miss the place alot!

There was this Bible bookstore that my dad and I would go to every Wednesday or Thursday night before church. I would go get veggie tale tapes, and other veggie tale things. That store closed unfortunately but I miss it so much!
I really miss the old Half Price bookstore in my neighborhood. That place with the creaky wood floors and aged and weathered shelves always gave off a feeling of peace and safety. Loose yourself in a few titles for an hour or so and chances were you would always find something interesting and for a great deal. We failed the new generation by removing these timeless places.

To put things into perspective: * Mom pushes baby around in stroller in Borders. Today that toddler is TWENTY-SIX and likely has a kid who's 8 years old. 😮 * someone is on their third pet * someone took out a mortgage then, and it's close to being paid off
I'm not sure if Huntsville, Alabama got a Borders. If so, I didn't pay attention when I was younger. We may have had one in the mall. Books a Million and Barnes & Noble outcompeted Borders.
Where is this? There was a 2 story location with escalators in Omaha, Neb. situated in the SE corner of 72nd & Dodge, across the street from Crossroads Mall which had it's own B & N store incorporated.
I don't understand why the camera person doesn't explain themselves. "What are you doing? Excuse me" as he's interrupting the barista's work, could be prevented by simply saying what he intends to do, then pressing record.

The baby at 4:24 is probably about 30 now.
