Really nice job on this… I first saw James in 1978, and saw him every other time he came around. This song, of course, was the one everyone waited for… like you said, it was a guy on stage telling you his own story, asking God for help, and not leaving anything out. At that first concert, he also introduced me to the white version of the blues (Steamroller Blues) and he lit the place up with it….it was a terrific contrast to his recorded version… I still love that song.
