Mr Green, your skill with the suction tube in fine areas like the edge of the eardrum or in little caverns off to the side of the eardrum is absolutely second to none. Every time I think "he can't get this, surely" or "There's no way he can keep his hand steady on that piece of wax stuck to the drum" every time you prove me wrong. Obviously, it's a great mentor (we can't have him sulking at all this praise now, can we?? lol) and years of practice that has got you to that level, but by goodness, it's a pleasure and most satisfying to watch. Keep up the great work chaps. You're both always a delight to watch and to listen to.
Taylor sneaking up so slowly and carefully on that first ear deep piece reminds me of someone trying to carefully rescue a kitten hiding in a dark corner.
Hi gentlemen!! Sitting here in Kentucky being hammered with snow, it is so beautiful. Your personalities are so aligned, you even ohhhh in sync. Thanks guys for the time you put in preparing these always amazing videos. Greatly appreciated 💖💖💖
We are in Iowa and hoping that your snow makes its way here… this is one of the driest winters in some time for us here which is not good for the corn and bean fields. We need the ground moisture. I also have a huge English Cream Golden retriever who is quite exasperated because he LOVES the snow… he keeps looking at me when we go outside like I have control of the weather! 😂 One of my daughters is getting hammered in Arkansas but fortunately she grew up in Iowa so she is familiar with snow. Her fiancé didn’t grow up with snow and he is like a 2 year old! I think he scooped up and ate 5 cups of snow last night with a spoon… which my girls used to do growing up here. So send that snow ❄️ up to Iowa please! Most of us want it! We have snow blowers and shovels at the ready! I hope you get a break from the snow soon bc we are watching it impact the South quite heavily.
God Bless you for staying at the end of the week to do this and in jolly good spirits with the laughter! Thank you guys for being so committed to your fans. Love from good old USA!!!
Having watched all of your back catalogue, I think that first gentleman had some of the driest wax/skin I have seen on your channel.... Thank you Mr. B and TLTG for another superb video... Have an amazing weekend everyone.....xx
That first one was so retracted, how would they sort that out, would it just get better on its own ?? I heard you say like a cornflake but not the old as dry as a chip lol Thanks guys, it's almost the weekend so have a good one everybody xx
Thanks for the video Rhys and Taylor. Both of you had a lot wax to remove but did very well with it. My compliments to both of you. Nice work. Iowa here. Steve.
Iowa here also! I would like to get some of that snow they are getting in the Southern US! My daughter is snowed in in Arkansas with freezing rain. I told her to remember where she grew up and get “er” done. LOL! I swear, every system seems to either pass above us or go below. I have my snow blower and shovels and my Retriever, Moose who is very upset that he has no big snowbanks to roll in. *Central Iowa* I think some of my other kids in Waukee have more snow than we do in Marion! These 2 gentlemen are fantastic! I don’t know about where you are but most GP’s here still irrigate ears instead of ENT referrals.. it’s definitely a nicer softer irrigation but I have had problems since I was a young kid (swimmers ear and tubes 3 times as well as a nasty perforation after a particularly awful OM) they note the scarring and STILL irrigate my ears every time and I have had pain for days afterwards. Honestly I would travel to Cardiff, Wales just to see these practitioners to clear my ears! Sorry Steve-TMI but good to see another Waxaholic from Iowa. :)
4:32 just thought of a really fun t-shirt idea that you guys could make and wear, or sell in a merch store: Artists depiction of an ear and some wax with a zoellner tube... caption: Get a grip.
@@chrystinachase6771 I watch his videos also-and I believe he is also in the process of developing another endoscope as well this one to help with very narrow ear canals? I also remember Rhys saying that because of the way he holds his tools, he tried the Clear Scope but found it difficult to navigate-but I suspect he will still try to use it. The clarity of the clear scope is amazing! But even Mister Neel said that it takes time to get used to the differences between it and an endoscope.
@@kimberlydodd9039 I believe you are correct? I watch Mister Neel also and I swear I watched a recent video of his where he briefly mentioned that he is working on several new tools and one of them is an endoscope (not the Clear Scope) that is designed to hold open the ear canals of patients who have very narrow canals? 😊 I will have to go back and see if I can find that one. He mentions it so briefly I think, because his new tools are still in production and he won’t bring them out until they are to his specifications.
Don’t worry, Rhys, just because you used the wrong name for the crocodile forceps doesn’t mean you’re not a great audiologist or you’re developing dementia. I do that all the time with my daughters, sometimes calling them one of my sisters’ names. It means your brain is so full of more important information that the neural pathway to the name was block. What counts is that you used it properly! Of course if you hadn’t, that video would never be seen again. Digital annihilation.👂🏻❤️😂
We have 7 kids-all grown now but when they misbehaved-I would go down the list of names invariably ending up at YOU! Pointing at the child most likely causing the mayhem as they are all laughing at Mom who cannot seem to get the names right…little boogers! I saw someone in the comments say why didn’t you go in with the “tweezers” and I choked on my coffee and got a good chuckle when I stopped wheezing. If someone came at me with “tweezers” in my ear, all you would see would be my skid marks as I booked it right out the door! 😂😂 ˙Happy 2025 everyone!! 🎉
I've a few questions about retraction pockets, if I may? Do you ever have to refer a patient to ENT about retraction pockets? Can a retraction pocket cause damage to the ear anatomy? Can a retraction pocket restrict the movement of the ossicles?
I know that Rhys holds his tools differently than most *he says this himself-and I think he has demo’ed the Clear Scope? But maybe consider adding that tool as well to your repertoire? I personally love to see the new Jobson Horn (sp?) that is oval in shape it seems to be narrower and more effective but it is lovely to see all the new curettage tools being developed and coming out to help make it easier and give you and TLMTG more options to use! *I would love to see you gentlemen doing your training with the new tools you employ-I am very interested bc I used to do this many years ago as an MA in the US for a GP-he rarely referred to ENT at that time. I was the “wax person” and I would hesitate to tell you what he used back in the 1980’s/90’s for this. He had a combination of curettes (all metal and autoclaved after each procedure) and a HUGE bucket I would fill with warm water for irrigation. I had a headlamp contraption that fit to my head which allowed me to see deeper into the ear canal but an endoscope would have been so much nicer! I suspect that ENT’s at that time would have been using them but as I said he did not refer out very often due to most of our patients that he saw were Managed Care HMO’s so required a circus of hoops to get them referred to a specialist-most of the time we were denied so we did our best to clear the patients ears. I was trained to recognize certain “conditions” perforations, retractions, obvious OE, OM and we had quite our share of KO and fungal infections. We were always instructed by ENT in those cases to remove as much of the dead skin as possible and fungal spores as well as any debris we could remove. But in those cases-irrigation was never indicated. When I went in-I always had a list of questions for the patients for wax removal and if it tells you how long ago this was-we used Colace capsules (pierced with a large gauge needle and then contents squeezed into the patient’s ear) to soften up very dry or impacted wax and yes…we always discouraged Q-Tips or “finger mining” as he called it. 😂He was the nicest Southern Gentleman doctor who had trained in the South section of the US and he could talk a bird out of a tree. But I wish I had a photo of myself wearing that contraption when he wanted irrigation done-the bucket with warm water, a HUGE syringe(minus a needle) the head contraption I wore with a headlamp and I used an otoscope. *To see these gentlemen working now, I feel like I trained in the Wild Wild West!
Hi guys. I have had several burst eardrums lately, cause by inner ear infections. My ear drum has healed vut there is still dried up mucus in my ears and its hurting my ear. Is there a way to soften it? Or should I go see someone to have it removed?
I was thinking perhaps panko crumbs mixed with butter that you put on top of a casserole! 😂 Love the food references because it makes total sense to me.
Just wondering…. My ear wax is VERY dry and papery and very pale yellow. My ears itch all the time too…. Is that normal? I live in Idaho where it is very dry, but my husband and son’s ear wax is quite the honey color and very gooey. So I was just wondering why mine is the way I described it. Thanks for sharing.
