Only Metroman knew what he could completely do and so the training was only as complete as they knew it. Had Tighten been smart of enough to experiment on his own, then more of his powers would've been used.
Let me explain. Metroman was SO FAST that his speed rendered him invisible to everyone, the camera caught less than a fram of him. So his super speed would be a power that tighten Wouldn't know that it even exists.
If you assume Titan had a tiny fraction of Metro Man's power which is implied by how scared he was of metro man and Titan was psychotic/stupid enough to want to toy/torture mega mind before killing him, It not so egregious. Still a few scene that were no way, but overall not a huge stretch. Maybe that was just my head cannon. But thinking that made the movie better for me.
The other arguments are valid, but complaining about the speed thing is I think too much. Like, how do we know Tighten knew he had super speed? No one knew Metroman was a speedster, and without knowledge I think it would be pretty hard to discover you can basically freeze time.
Technically we can't even prove that tighten has superspeed because he's never shown using it in the entire movie. It could be argued that the injection didn't give him that power and that tighten is simply weaker than metro man.
All explained by - Titan being dumb - Megamind inventions not always fully working as shown in the film - Titan being new to his superpowers. It always takes years and years for super powers to fully be defined ( see superman who was BORN with them, here it is just a potion) - Titan showed NO sign of being a speedster so you can't apply their inconsistency here
It's safe to assume that Tighten either doesn't have superspeed or doesn't know how to use it yet. Because if he did, it would be Game Over. I guess this is also the reason he was scared of Metroman appearing, as he knew he was no match for the original. As for Invisible car - Roxane and Megamind know of its existence and know where to look. Tighten has never seen it before, so to him it would be just some light distortion. P.S. It's not a kids movie, it's a family movie. There is a difference. Paw Patrol is a kids movie for example, exclusively aimed at kids. Movies like Megamind, or Puss in Boots 2 are aimed at all ages.
I think a big part of Titan’s dumbassery is that Hal himself is just a dumbass. He’s impulsive, doesn’t really think anything through. He has no real goal, he’s running on pure emotions cycling through hurt and hate. He’s very recently come into power, he’s just a puppy. I assumed he didn’t know his full kit nor know how to utilize it to its fullest potential. If he wants to punch something in anger his reaction would be to just punch, whereas Metroman has the levelheadedness to use layers or super speed.
Metroman obviously unlocked superspeed by training. Metroman had years of experience about his powers since he was a baby while Titan only learn stuff from Megamind.
We also can se that megamind trained tighten, teaching him even how to properly fly, since megamind didn't knew about metroman speed, he didn't teach that, and he just didn't tryed that himself
Metroman not using it to hide from Roxanne and Megamind actually helps Hal’s case: if even Metroman doesn’t think to use it, it may be a difficult power to stumble upon or one he uses very very rarely anyway.
Don't want to say this because this is a good channel, but he only got that power out of some dandruff, dead skin. And only a small amount of it. So obviously he isn't going to be a god on earth like Metro Man.
Megamind duplicates the powers from Metroman's DNA. DNA is in every cell of the body, so coming from dandruff shouldn't make a difference. Nothing in the movie suggests that Tighten only got a small amount of the power. His strength, lazer vision, and flight are shown to be the same as Metroman. Megamind made Hal into a replacement metroman. He never showed dissapointment in Hal's abilities during his training.
If I had to think of a reason why this is happening I would say it's the same premise as it was with Goku and Ginyu in DBZ. Ginyu took the body and all the powers of Goku but because he lacked all the years of familiarity with it he could not use all the powers effectivly so he was weaker than Goku with the same body and powers. But that just my theory. I found your channel recently and i love those videos! keep it up! ✌✌
i don't think this one is supposed to be that literal. Even though Megamind intended him to be equal to metroman, he had no clue how actually capable and powerful he really was since Metroman was just pretending to struggle all along. And while he is a genius he also flops a lot of inventions and plans, combine all that with the fact that it's a mere strand of DNA. Plus Tighten wasn't used to his new powers, we have no clue how developed they are and consider how stupid he acts, he is just a big fish in a small pond and shits his pants the second he thinks it's him.
But also even if they are equal, he’s barely had any training and he literally just got his powers, and he only uses the things we see Megamind taught him
Even though this isn't how DNA really works, the idea was that because he only got a single piece of dandruff, he got like a billionth of Metroman's power.
The DNA was only from Metromans dandruff or a single hair or smt lile that so its extremely likely that Tighten just had a sliver or Metromans full power.
I just took it like when you see a ceiling fan moving. If you focus on how fast it is, it'll be too fast for you, always. But if you start to _track_ a blade... you start to notice how now the fan has begun to sloooowww doooowwwnn. If Tighten is not actively _trying_ to perceive slow motion, he won't see slow motion. Which is due to a lack of experience.
Just because some guy gave me a particle accelerator doesn't mean I can perform ion implantation. I didn't even know ion implantation existed until I searched it up just now, case in point.
my personal theory is that tighten doesn't know he has super speed, megamind teaches him to fly after tighten discovers he can fly, but its framed as if tighten immediately tries to fly in his own way, so it might be reasonable to assume tighten wouldn't know he could "slow down time", we also don't know if metroman does this at will or not. we also don't know if anyone is even aware metroman can slow down time, if megamind knew that, he might have assumed tighten could as well.
I think it largely makes sense because it's shown throughout the movie that Titan is VASTLY inferior to Metroman. But you do have a point, Titan is very much an idiot.
I think that they showd that speed after first titan encounter to tell that nobody ever knew that metro man has that speed, and he surely can turn it on and off, or bro was wasting literal years from his perspective just to hear each of megaminds dialogs, he would've gone crazy from that, honestly from everything probably with that speed
Titan is stupid, he didn't have enough experience and I don't think he knew how to use all his powers. Megamind trained him and not even he knew all the power that Metroman has, because Metroman always used a little bit to beat him.
Great video, but technically you could argue that since Megamind didn't seem to know about Metromans super speed Titan didn't either, so he was never able to figure out how to activate it.
I think it's like a viltromit thing were you get stronger with age. For example, metroman had his powers since he was a baby, which would make him far stronger and faster than Titan, who had them for a week
Can be something about "control", Metro Man have used his power his whole life, Tighten had just gotten them and maybe he only used the powers he thought MM had - Strength, flight, Laser-eyes and "fast" speed.
maybe because tighten can't control his powers that well, he doesn't have fast perception as well, meaning he's just going really really fast but not he can't think as fast
We're shown that Metro Man can move extremly fast, but we're never shown that Tighten can do the same, it's not hard to believe that tighten has only took a part of metro man's powers and/or weaker versions of said powers Also most of the things Tighten did that you said don't make snese, like him not using his laser vision on the robot, can be atributed to him having metro man's powers for not that long before the fight happens, wich can also be another reason for his powers to be weaker then metro man, maybe he has the same potential but he doesn't know how to use them properly
Someone actually calculated about titans strength I don’t remember the video but Titan’s powers is a fraction of some dandruff of metroman’s hair which it would take 87.5 million pieces of dandruff to make up the weight of the average human body and metro man is around 6’6 or 6’7. The calculation I made was to the average 154 pound 5’6 human and metroman is yoked like crazy, so Titan has a small percent of metroman’s powers logically which explains why he doesn’t have ANY of the powers metro does on the same scale think about a single penny to the Statue of Liberty that’s the power difference between the two and the sample of dna and likewise power that was used to form Titan as a whole.
In the movie, Metroman's superspeed isn't a passive ability like his strength and durability. He has to activate it. Perhaps Tighten, despite presumably having all of Metroman's powers, doesn't know how to activate his superspeed the way Metroman did.
i think this is something like, it gives him metro man powers, but not at the same level maybe he just needed training or time to adjust to those powers or maybe they were simply not as strong
Actually you can tell from the movie that titan was still learning how to use his powers, despite they’re all metro man’s features, titan doesn’t know them all so he’s improvising as it goes on 👍🏽
These kind of videos are always pretty interesting, it makes me wonder if and when movies are better off ignoring these discrepancies the average person might not really care about to have those scenes play out the way the writers perfer, more up close back and forths with titan and megamind using the techniques that make for cool plot moments like the metroman disguise, or having those potential plotholes have dedicated scenes and writing to address them, like if megamind actually did account for titan's potential super speed and laser vision before their first fight and whatever events played out happened in a way that doesn't rely on the clearly murderous titan hesitating for the plot or not going for the kill when he can, having way less obvious windows at least. Personally, if there's at least a little bit of plausible deniability I don't mind employing it to enjoy the movie as it wants to present itself, like hey I def think titan didn't know he could do superspeed since nobody knew metroman could do that, don't mind just saying hey maybe he sucks ass at the laser eye aim cause they're hard to focus with and have weight to them while firing lasers, like aiming a cannon at a man darting back and forth, and hey maybe every scene he was physically holding megamind and didnt kill him were just cause he wanted him to suffer more with fear or physically, hence the charging laser eyes in their first encounter in the broken mech despite him being able to do them instantly else where, or the palm strike where he could have lasered him or ripped him up but the strike was a knee jerk reaction out of rage, like throwing a book across the room rather than tearing the papers out. These aren't actually logically sound answers, I just think that when the movie doesn't have a BLINDLINGLY stupid plothole, they can be kinda fun to excuse to keep the plot immersive
Tighten is a moron, he doesn't do the things because he only ever does the things hes seen the hero do already. Which obviously doesn't include the superspeed. Hes basically limiting himself to the gamer mode bullshit Metroman limited himself to publicly. Hes not curious enough insightful enough or plainly smart enough to even consider that he could do more than hes seen MM do before.
It actually makes sense why Tighten couldn't use Metroman's super speed: Metro never showcased how fast he was, ever. Megamind only taught him how to use the powers he knew metroman had, so how would Tighten even realize he could pull that off if Metroman has never showed it in public? We also can see that Metroman isn't a perpetually fast speedster: He has to willingly accelerate to that speed to get that sort of perception and awareness. So, its something that Titan would have had to discover and understand to utilize himself. Had Titan been aware of that super speed, or was given a few months or years to train and hone his abilities, he for sure would have been unstoppable. Thankfully, MetroMan keeping his super speed a secret ability is what kept the world safe and kept Tighten beatable.
Aside from what people in the comments have brought up, which are all very good points, it simply comes down to Tighten not knowing how to use Metro man's powers. Hal is also most likely unaware of what Metro Man can actually do, because as far as the public has seen Metro Man in action, they probably only know about his super strength, his ability to fly, his lasers, and his invulnerability. It makes perfect sense.
ehhh, you could just explain it away as Megamind’s super power technology that he gave to Tighten being flawed or Tighten just doesn’t know how to use his powers yet
I love Megamind, but yeah, this bugged the hell out of me. That ending was plot armor to the max. Not to mention Metroman is actually pretty selfish for allowing Megamind to do any damage at all just because he was bored when he literally could have stopped any of his destruction before it started. Also Megamind gets rewarded at the end for fixing the problem he created.... But nitpicking aside, great video, I love the "The Problem With" series and hope you make more. Also I'm shocked it's the same writers for the second one.
I mean that easy because why hasn't baby or kid metroman move at that same speed. We know baby doesn't move at those speeds because his mom was still react with his dad when he first learn how to fly. So based on this its safe to say that its not a born speed thing. Also megamind has light speed to Faster than light speed reaction speed. Evident when he was a baby he can react to everything around his ship which is in a separate Galaxy. So megamind has a mind of a speedster.
Hal is also human whereas metroman is some kind of alien, maybe the infusion doesn't work as well on humans or maybe humans can't really wield the full powerset as well, or maybe it takes time to build up to the level of metroman. still, cool video, interesting to see
Just because megamind says it gives the exact same powers doesnt mean thats what it does. It just means thats what he intended for it to do. I thought it was fairly obvious it didnt work as intended and only gave a tiny fraction of metroman's powers. Which was still insanely powerful, just not "travel the city in a nanosecond" level power.
Despite all this, the movie is still goated!

If you can basically freeze time then how is it hard to discover
All explained by
- Titan being dumb
- Megamind inventions not always fully working as shown in the film
- Titan being new to his superpowers. It always takes years and years for super powers to fully be defined ( see superman who was BORN with them, here it is just a potion)
- Titan showed NO sign of being a speedster so you can't apply their inconsistency here
It's safe to assume that Tighten either doesn't have superspeed or doesn't know how to use it yet.
Megamind forgot where the invisible car was parked. And bro forgot the liquifier there. Trully a genius
Metroman not using it to hide from Roxanne and Megamind actually helps Hal’s case: if even Metroman doesn’t think to use it, it may be a difficult power to stumble upon or one he uses very very rarely anyway.
He probably doesn't know he has super speed
Conclusion is insanely simple: Getting those powers doesn't make you smarter. Titan clearly just wasn't very bright.
Nah get juked tighten 😂😂😂😊 1:55

T-800: that's my boy🫡
Don't want to say this because this is a good channel, but he only got that power out of some dandruff, dead skin. And only a small amount of it. So obviously he isn't going to be a god on earth like Metro Man.
This isn't a good channel. I remember this dude getting stuff wrong on other things he talked about.
Plus Tighten wasn't used to his new powers, we have no clue how developed they are and consider how stupid he acts, he is just a big fish in a small pond and shits his pants the second he thinks it's him.
having powers is 1 thing, knowing how to use them is another.
Titan was just inexperienced
megamind never knew about metromans super speed so he never taught tighten about it
Having the same powers doesn't make them equal
But also even if they are equal, he’s barely had any training and he literally just got his powers, and he only uses the things we see Megamind taught him
Titan is so dumb that he forget that copper is his weakness, so the writers retconned Metroman's death
Experience is by far the most impactful thing here.
Even though this isn't how DNA really works, the idea was that because he only got a single piece of dandruff, he got like a billionth of Metroman's power.
Titan didnt know that he has super speed.
the fact that they actually showed metroman leaving the room during his super speed scene is just great attention to detail

Not only that, but it’s implied that both Metroman and Titan have X-Ray Vision as well. “I’ve got eyes, that can see, right through leeaaaad.”
CONGRATD ON 10K
Tighen was trained by megamind but he never knew that metroman had super speed so he never tought it to thighten
Okay so yeah, tighten is a complete moron who sold multiple chances to win easily, but this time its intentional and not just bad writing
The answer:
"Where did you train? On a FARM?!"
I like when you say the word "but"
I forget if it was in commentary or a question asked to the writers. But it was confirmed that Titan only had 1 hairs worth of metro mans strength.
Didn't the creator confirm that titan just has the power of metromans dandruff
I never noticed that he actually left in the camera scene.
Just because some guy gave me a particle accelerator doesn't mean I can perform ion implantation. I didn't even know ion implantation existed until I searched it up just now, case in point.
I don't think he even knows he could move that fast
EXPERIENCE!
Explanation is simple, metroman knew how to use all of his powers while Titan was only scratching the surface for some days
my personal theory is that tighten doesn't know he has super speed, megamind teaches him to fly after tighten discovers he can fly, but its framed as if tighten immediately tries to fly in his own way, so it might be reasonable to assume tighten wouldn't know he could "slow down time", we also don't know if metroman does this at will or not. we also don't know if anyone is even aware metroman can slow down time, if megamind knew that, he might have assumed tighten could as well.
I think it largely makes sense because it's shown throughout the movie that Titan is VASTLY inferior to Metroman. But you do have a point, Titan is very much an idiot.
I think that they showd that speed after first titan encounter to tell that nobody ever knew that metro man has that speed, and he surely can turn it on and off, or bro was wasting literal years from his perspective just to hear each of megaminds dialogs, he would've gone crazy from that, honestly from everything probably with that speed
you have to remember one crucial detail: Tighten is repeatedly shown to be really, really, REALLY stupid
plus it's likely that super speed is activated at will and he simply hasn't figured out how to do so
Titan is stupid, he didn't have enough experience and I don't think he knew how to use all his powers. Megamind trained him and not even he knew all the power that Metroman has, because Metroman always used a little bit to beat him.
Great video, but technically you could argue that since Megamind didn't seem to know about Metromans super speed Titan didn't either, so he was never able to figure out how to activate it.
I mean, he's new. He can't use Metro Man's powers to the fullest.
I think it's like a viltromit thing were you get stronger with age.
For example, metroman had his powers since he was a baby, which would make him far stronger and faster than Titan, who had them for a week
Can be something about "control", Metro Man have used his power his whole life, Tighten had just gotten them and maybe he only used the powers he thought MM had - Strength, flight, Laser-eyes and "fast" speed.
metro man had experience tighten probably just either didn't know or at least didn't train his speed like metro man.
maybe because tighten can't control his powers that well, he doesn't have fast perception as well, meaning he's just going really really fast but not he can't think as fast
Oh, and more "buts" 😇
i legit didn't know there was a second one
We're shown that Metro Man can move extremly fast, but we're never shown that Tighten can do the same, it's not hard to believe that tighten has only took a part of metro man's powers and/or weaker versions of said powers
Also most of the things Tighten did that you said don't make snese, like him not using his laser vision on the robot, can be atributed to him having metro man's powers for not that long before the fight happens, wich can also be another reason for his powers to be weaker then metro man, maybe he has the same potential but he doesn't know how to use them properly
I had no idea there was a megamind 2

This entire video is simply negated by the fact that Titan can't control his superpowers.
Say, "nano second" ONE MORE TIME
I think Titan didn't know he have super speed
Titan only has like 0.001% off the power of Metro man
Tighten was less experienced and highly emotional with zero combat skills. I’m not surprised he lost.
I don't think Megamind knew about Metros superspeed thus he didn't teach Tighten about superspeed.
Hal is also human whereas metroman is some kind of alien, maybe the infusion doesn't work as well on humans or maybe humans can't really wield the full powerset as well, or maybe it takes time to build up to the level of metroman. still, cool video, interesting to see
I always thought that it was implied that MM is way stronger than the loser.
Did the lore powers-that-be be say that carrot top is as strong as MM?
This is easily explained. Titan didn't know how to use the powers like metro man did. Probably didn't know how to activate the super speed.
Megamind 2? I didn’t know they made that
Maybe titan didn't know he had super speed. Metro man had to switch it on to experience slow-mo time so maybe the thought just never occured to titan.
Hal is not smart enough to figure out super super speed 😂
hello guys
