You should have waited longer with this Drive+ concept: It's a disaster when somebody who loves 911s and especially Larry's car from germany cannot watch the whole video. I'm starting to lose my faith in this Drive+ thing you are trying to sell us the more days pass where I'm unable to watch the content, because my country still doesn't offer the service...I'll give it one more week
In canada i do get drive+ but screw that. $4 a month! i rather watch 2 minutes of ads in beginning of every video. Making videos exclusive for drive+ is messed up!
I love all the bullshit about assholes saying drive+ will fail and drive will go into the ground. That's just not the case. They reached the number of subscribers they expected to get in a month in 24 hours, then the 2 month projection in 3 days. The silent majority are winning, get over it, drive+ is here to stay.
All attention people it is not the end we still have the MotorTrend channel, quick switch over to them now, spam their channel on all future /Drive videos.
Unfortunately it's time to unsubscribe. These teasers make me want to watch these but I just don't see the value in paying for Drive+. I can only hope that others will follow my lead and in months time, Drive will go back to its original system.
you know what I hated the idea of paying a monthly subscription for a TH-cam channel, but I realize my attention span sucks so these 2 to 3 minute videos are perfect for me so thanks /DRIVE
An I the only one who finds it immature to be complaining. I subscribed to DRIVE+ and I don't regret it. They create amazing videos, and of course the running cost must be immense. 4$ a month is virtually nothing. I gladly support this change, As long as the content is kept up to par. Its hypocritical that you guys adore Chris Harris, yet when it comes to indirectly supporting him people are backing out. One of the advantages too is by doing this, you also get to have a more mature audience watching the videos, hence you can have true conversations via the comments about one thing we all love; Cars.
Charles, the problem isn't Drive+ by itself - you're right in saying $4 per month is nothing. The problem is the theory. If my subbed channels on youtube charged me $4/month to watch their content, i would rack up probably thousands of $ a year just to go on youtube... And /Drive, how come your costs have suddenly gone up?
Out of all the videos you guys post, this is probably the one I want to see the most. Like so many others, I just don't feel too compelled to support the new /DRIVE model though..
You are alienating your own audience with this DRIVE+ stuff. I will consider your show over and remember it for what it was, if this is the direction you are going with it. (AKA, not actually making it on the regular DRIVE network anymore)
I hate how people are getting upset about drive + but here's the thing filming these shoots cost a lot of money and up intel recently was free to watch so please stop with the complaining
The issue with Drive+ is that, you have added zero value to your content. You have taken content everyone was used to receiving for free and began charging. It is less about the dollar value of $3.99 monthly, and more due to the fact that you have added nothing yet are asking for something. We are now paying to receive something that was free to us a matter of months ago, there has been no additional value added, that is the reason for the massive backlash you are seeing. If you added greater value while implementing a additional fee, it would be more understandable. This is just my opinion. Business is business, and I fully understand chasing profit, but the way it was done is far more detrimental than it will be beneficial to the channel.
IT WAS NEVER FREE! You were supposed to watch ads, everyone ran adblock they never got paid well enough. TH-cam was supposed to pay them and then stopped. Do you think that these guys can live off of pennies? Where does the money come from? Its not the automakers. Who pays for their flights? Who pays for their meals? Who pays for their gas? Incase you haven't watched any Drive+ videos. The quality has gone up even though they still don't have money. None of whats coming out right now is paid for with Drive+ money. The 2 week free period is still going which means that this is still from the time when they had absolutely no money. They were forced to do this. They didn't want to.
***** They weren't forced to do this, they chose the worst solution imaginable. There are so many better ways that would have required effort - which is why they didn't use them.
***** Really? Tell me them, because they would have done it if it was profitable. Netflix isn't interested so thats out. Who are you gonna pay to make a magazine? Where's that money gonna come from? Sell t-shirts? Come on that shit makes absolutely no money and nobody bought them anyways. Kickstarter? For what a 1 time injection of funds that would last them all of a few months because everybody is bitching about paying now. This is the only solution that worked, they didn't want to do it but they did.
***** It's simple; product placement and unskippable in-video adverts. It's something most channels do, and that, combined with the regular monetization, would be enough. Something like Patreon would also help as well. The answer isn't one big shift; it's to do everything a little differently.
The simple fact is that nobody wants to watch a blatant advertizement. Thats the whole problem with the ad before the video. Who is gonna sit through an actual commercial? It wouldn't work. This is their only option.
There would be no Drive without Drive+. So not even the 3 minute videos we are getting here. It sucks I know. I have come to terms with it and you should to.
***** There would be ,they just need to be less greedy and a bit smarter. There are tons of other car channels that survive on youtube income. These guys will lose it all
There would be no drive without subscribers..there would me no drive+ without the original subscribers..I know they need the extra money for production but can't they be a bit more reasonable because many subscribers outside the U.S can't get the service
That's the thing people won't pay cause they got it for free before..I think if they did what motortrend do and have embedded ads that are actually in the video they still have ads make money of those ads and then possibly more from ads that are before the video
Ben McCarthy That's exactly what I've been saying. But it's not just one drastic change that you want (ie the Drive+ change); you take advantage of every little bit, and it all adds up.
Ben McCarthy You're right, it won't - it all comes down to whether they really care about the majority, or simply paying their bills with a relatively tiny crowd is all they want.
RWB's cars have the styling, and they also see track time. In terms of their engines, I'm not entirely sure, but I believe they're lightly modified. But those cars do have a great emphasis on styling.
I'm a Drive+ subscriber and I have to say that other than extra track time, the meat of the video is here. I had no problem with the Drive+ concept. These guys are bringing us some of the best car related videos you can find and it costs money to make them. $4 a month is nothing for the average person. Trust me, I'm not by any definition "rich", but I do have a job. It sucks for you guys in Europe that can't get the service, but from what Drive is saying, they're working on it. Be patient. For those of you that can't afford the $4 a month, you need to get your $hit together. what can I say, I want an NSX really bad but I can't afford one. I'm not going to expect some guy to sell me one really cheap because I want one really bad but haven't stepped my game up well enough to get it for what it's worth. Cars cost money to make, and so do these videos.
The 964 is my favourite version of the 911, but I'd love a Targa !!! Would have the engine upgrade and the new exhaust system too removing the Cat on a '91 is okay in Europe !!!
/DRIVE where ? do we have to subscribe to watch All of matt and chris's videos ? i've been looking forward to the new seasons but i wanna watch the whole video not just 3 min. do we have to pay to watch them ? i stopped bying magazine because youtube but now i may have too
I've been following what you guys post about this build on IG and was really looking forward to watching this. oh well I guess. I'm in college and am a car guy. What little money school doesn't take from me goes into making my car faster around the track. $4 a month might not seem like much but $50 a year for something I use to get for free is too much.
I Think DRIVE produces content that is 1000x the quality of anything thats on TV atm. I rather support independent content creators that i love to watch, instead of paying for cable. At the end of the day money has to come from somewhere.
Thank you Drive for killing the fun of watching cars videos... I don't care about 40Kp video quality or exotic locations. Yes of course it's good. Once upon a time there was a channel called Driver's Republic...and resolution was not the main issue, but the quality of the experience was stunning!!! I felt at home with those guys speaking about cars with passion and excitement. The same I experience when I'm driving. Frankly speaking I want to listen engines and watch people driving car sharing their emotions... and I'm sorry that must be free as loving and driving car is !!! Trying to do businness on emotions is illegal !
People, no one else is making content for you. EVO, Motortrend, XCar, and Petrolicious all have backing. Some are just marketing arms for SELLING magazine subscriptions, XCar is owned by CBS and Petrolicious is paid by Hagerty auto insurance. Nobody can do this stuff for free. Drive sells no magazines, they have no insurance company behind them, nor any broadcast network, TH-cam paid them for 2 years and then pulled all their funding. They were running on steam for a while and realized that they would have to shut down Drive if something drastic wasn't done. They're not asking for a lot, but they are giving quite a bit in return.
It's kinda hard to watch these videos now knowing that they're only a teaser for the extended, paid version. I feel like the only reason this was posted was to lure someone into paying for drive+, not because it's a good video and you want it seen. Guess I'm hoping you guys will post content for non-paying members that isn't a cropped version of the original.
Drive, it doesn't seem like it with all these haters but you guys are doing great work and pushing out a lot of content keep it up! Ignore the haters, and honestly i would just ban them, show them how bitching gets them no where.
Here is what's REALLY wrong with Drive+. "Channels linked with a Google+ page, such as Natural Progression, can't make purchases on TH-cam." So youtube forces me to do that Google+ bullshit (WHICH I NEVER FUCKING USE) and now it can't fully utilize youtube because of it?! WTF?! I actually want to subscribe to drive+ only to find that I can't! Don't kill your channel because of youtube's retardation! I hope you guys see this... I really miss the show. :(
Thanks! It was the worst timing too. I'm a huge fan of Joe Rogan and /DRIVE. lol TH-cam is fucking me. (Don't take any of my caps as rage or hate your way. I understand the youtube changes more than the majority. I follow your logic. I also follow the logic of those who can't afford 2.99 or 3.99 a month for 1 show. Especially with the cable standard skewing the internet based show market. ie. "I can get 100's of shows for 60 a month and you want 3 bucks for 1 show?") It's tough on the streets! Best of luck!
Lol at people who are saying "unsubbed" You do know, you don't have to tell everyone it is just a button, click it and go. Nobody gives a fuck if you are unsubbing.
While they can't make people sign up for Drive+ because its the same as someone working retail, you can't make people buy your clothes. But, we have watched these videos for free for as long as they have been out. We all enjoy them, we all want to keep enjoying them but no one wants to pay. These guys go out, drive and or fly wherever they need to to keep us interested and keep us watching and that was all for free. What can they do with a payout? You won't spend a second about buying a 8 dollar meal from a local fast food place, that gets you one meal, no hunger for couple hours. 4 dollars for a months supply of educational, entertaining videos that you will watch is worth it to me. Anyone who has 4 dollars laying around, can try it. Even do the trial period. If you don't like it, you either lost nothing or you lost 4 dollars. I think we all have had worse. I'm just an average guy who enjoys their videos and will pay for them when I feel the need. These guys have given me encouragement to do great things. I buy Ammo off of Larry and I run my own mobile detailing service, because if you want it bad enough, you can do it. Have a nice day.
If people want to witness this amazing content just pay for it, i know i will, its basically sacrificing 1 large starbucks coffee a month to watch the content.. to me this is my coffee i feel its well worth it.. everyone else can go to hell sorry but its the truth.
Can you do the plug on /Drive+ at the start of the video in future, and get it out of the way. It leaves a very sour taste at the end and I keep thinking about unsubbing.
All of y'all complaining about Drive+ have to remember this team of guys have to make a living somehow. TH-cam's shitty advertisements will not last you forever.
I meet matt at button willow this year very cool kat easy to talk to. I saw the rig and camera he was shooting with, he was shooting the black mustang, nice set-up he does a good job. I as for the paid stuff....you'll pay if you want to check out some cool stuff, if not there is a gang of very good car video and yes there free.
Jesus... half of these comments are tearing Drive+ into pieces. I'm not saying I support it, but it is obviously disliked by most people. Love the content, but I'm also not willing to pay more for it when there are still other channels that can push out content without monetizing it in this way. With all realization of how much work it takes and how many people would need to put a lot of time into it, I really wish Drive would take a step back and consider another method. Take this as you may.
This C4 is a nice car but where do people get the idea that an AWD vehicle is somehow that much better in winter? How about getting some snow tires? Any Porsche can be driven year round with snow tires.
This drive plus stuff is quite impractical. I thought that they said when they announced drive+ that the standard channel would get all the content but at a later date. But right now it seems like we are getting it at a later date and we are getting 3 minute teasers. I think that requiring a subscription on TH-cam is stupid and they should just move their content to a different website.
I have been following "Fast Lane Daily" since Day 1. The same with "Drive". I must say I have never seen so many "Thumbs down" for one of your videos. Specially a Porsche video. Oh well... I guess that's what happens when you start to charge for the real videos, and offer for free just the crumbs.
At first I wasn't sure why this video had such a low rating but now I understand. Goodbye Drive, you were great but there are so many other car review shows out there for free.
God damnit I was pretty butt hurt about all this Drive+ shit... I have come to the realization, I love watching these video's whats a few bucks for some great entertainment... Time to get drive plus -_- damn you guys, damn you! But I will continue to show my support :). I just have to figure out how I pay now haha.
People have a right to vote in any which way they want. It is the whole reason why TH-cam put like and dislike to vote how you please. This is the USA, you have every right to whatever opinions you like, so to be disgruntled is perfectly fine, but doing it with tact is perfectly fine with class. I do not agree with drive+, but I am not going to start swearing and treating people like garbage. I will vote how I want and let the people in general either support it fully or not. Being tactful goes a long way.
Dear Drive, please don't forget one thing: Without the number of viewers, everything is nothing ! And what I see is, the numbers of viewers on both channels must be quiet disappointing for you ? My opinion is, for videos where the manufacturers invite you, paying your flight tickets and 5* hotels and treat you with exclusive dinners at great locations etc, I'm not willing to subscribe to Drive+. Please ask them to pay your full costs because THEY need the promotion ...
Thanks everyone for watching! I was really pumped that Matt could review my car. I hadn't watched or seen any footage until today. Amazing work!
I'm poor. No drive plus...
+Tiago Ruivo You can't afford $3.99 per month?
I'm a student I have priorities...
LOL if the 3.6 don't leak it's out of oil.
Thats really the truth, as somebody whos employeed by a man who has a vintage porche collection in Napa Valley, CA, iv learned over the past 10 years that the majority of the cars do leak and they only sit in the showroom floor. this is a typical, strange thing about older porsches, they all leak haha.
Connor Murphy This is nonsense. Early 964 had no gaskets and they leaked. But later 964 had normal gaskets and did not leak. Almost all early 964 have been modified to also use gaskets, so no leakage anymore.
Connor Murphy
*Porsche (s)
I have a 97' 993. Doesn't leak or burn a drop. Is it just the 993 motor?
You should have waited longer with this Drive+ concept: It's a disaster when somebody who loves 911s and especially Larry's car from germany cannot watch the whole video. Making videos exclusive for drive+ is messed up!
/DRIVE has become the trailers channel for DRIVE+.
I love all the bullshit about assholes saying drive+ will fail and drive will go into the ground. That's just not the case. Why is so many thumbs down? Porsche is great car. This car have great tuning. Nice montage.
I used to Love this channel.
you know what I hated the idea of paying a monthly subscription for a TH-cam channel, but I realize my attention span sucks so these 2 to 3 minute videos are perfect for me so thanks /DRIVE
Drive is bitchslapping us with +
This porsche is perfect, the tuning and the upgrading is incredible.

Thanks Charles!
No worries guys! Keep up the good work! True car fans will understand 4$ is more then reasonable!
Charles, the problem isn't Drive+ by itself - you're right in saying $4 per month is nothing. The problem is the theory. Yea i see it handles well on the track but you know its more interesting to see it on the snow.

Where is drive+ ???

***** Well said, I hope this wakes people up to the facts: MT, EVO, Petro, Autocar are all loss leaders for their print magazine parents.
drive will get BETTER because of drive+, nobody seems to understand that more money for them means a better budget for better content
People don't care about the content getting "better", and I doubt it'll change the content one bit. Drive+ is just Drive self-destructing.
That's the thing people won't pay cause they got it for free before..I think if they did what motortrend do and have embedded ads that are actually in the video they still have ads make money of those ads and then possibly more from ads that are before the video

I want one immediately. The 964's have literally increased in value by 10k in the past year. Damnit. Larry I'll trade you my evo right now ;)
You had my subscription at porsche 911 964! Thank you for the awesome content!

The 964 is my favourite version of the 911, but I'd love a Targa !!!
Would have the engine upgrade and the new exhaust system too removing the Cat on a '91 is okay in Europe !!!
Thumbs up. Though it is short, Matt is awesome. Plus, I suspect Matt enjoys a thumbs up!
You win! Drive is too good to miss, I'm off to get my Dad's credit card
I have to agree with BalkanLion... If I wanted to watch a commercial about things I want to see or have I'd just watch normal tv
What's the point of uploading anything besides what you do on drive+?
There's longer free videos too.
/DRIVE where ? do we have to subscribe to watch All of matt and chris's videos ? i've been looking forward to the new seasons but i wanna watch the whole video not just 3 min. do we have to pay to watch them ? i stopped bying magazine because youtube but now i may have too
Drive+ is still not available in my country. That was it.
AMMO NYC will have a full video about the engine rebuild of this car online soon... you're welcome
Great Car!!…..from one C4 owner to another……Big Red Brakes are a great upgrade too….got them on mine
Didn't Google+ teach you guys anything?
I've been following what you guys post about this build on IG and was really looking forward to watching this. oh well I guess. I'm in college and am a car guy. god i love that 964
Not a bad way to divide the /Drive and /Drive+ videos. This was just enough info on the car and a good length.
Fuck the haters. Happy to pay you guys for the quality content. Keep up the awesome work!
There will be content specifically made for regular /DRIVE as well.
Those downshifts are so smooth and the car sounds sweet. Well done Matt. If I wasn't a cheap asshole I'd watch the rest on Drive+
Drive, it doesn't seem like it with all these haters but you guys are doing great work and pushing out a lot of content keep it up! Ignore the haters, and honestly i would just ban them, show them how bitching gets them no where.
Well, we dont lose anything but entertainment we can seek elsewhere. THEY on the other hand have alot to lose, like money.
Full length version is on DrivePlus on Dailymotion - jyfi.
Sign up for /Drive+ if you'd like to read comments about the actual car.
im ecstatic that you guys were so close to me i live in fairfield ct. i kinda wish i had my car on the road so matt can beat the day lights out of it
You guys need to fire the guy with the D+ idea. He does not know how to sell stuff...
You guys are still trying to make the Subscription model happen?
Huge fan... but i miss the show. :(
I live a town over from that shop! Thats awesome!
Didn't know you guys were friends since young, that's pretty cool. Been wondering where Larry had been. Now I can see, car looks stunning! AMMO NYC
How the the Drive channel should work: Ad promotion throughout the videos for free, or paid Drive+ without any ads.
Nice to see Spencer on TH-cam!
Guess I'm just gonna watch ~4 minute videos of drive TV now 😖
Spencer probably didn't have a very good time in middle or high school.
I like this porch but I was wondering when u r going to post videos of the notch back build
love it
Here is what's REALLY wrong with Drive+.
We've seen that comment a lot, don't worry, and passed it to YT, a lot.
Wow I didn't realize Matt and Larry go that far back!
Larry, nice car. The frown and thumbs down is for the drive plus crap.
God dammit. Another "SEE MOAAAAAR ON DRIVE+"
Lol at people who are saying "unsubbed"
You do know, you don't have to tell everyone it is just a button, click it and go. Nobody gives a fuck if you are unsubbing.
like I said before... This is a TRAILER channel!
Is it me or are the headlights not sitting completely right? 2:05
Matt, I always wanted to know what u looked like with hair lol. Great video as usual, keep up the good work
oh damn i was so hoping this was going to be a free video...
Really done get why you would want it all wheel drive
Jesus... half of these comments are tearing Drive+ into pieces.
Is that the exhaust system not hooked up at 2:00? The driver side piping does not seem to be connected with the silicone tubing.
This C4 is a nice car but where do people get the idea that an AWD vehicle is somehow that much better in winter? How about getting some snow tires? Any Porsche can be driven year round with snow tires.
I wouldnt mind if these weren't just teaser trailers for drive +
This drive plus stuff is quite impractical. I thought that they said when they announced drive+ that the standard channel would get all the content but at a later date. But right now it seems like we are getting it at a later date and we are getting 3 minute teasers. I think that requiring a subscription on TH-cam is stupid and they should just move their content to a different website.
Great video
I have been following "Fast Lane Daily" since Day 1. The same with "Drive". I must say I have never seen so many "Thumbs down" for one of your videos. Specially a Porsche video. Oh well... I guess that's what happens when you start to charge for the real videos, and offer for free just the crumbs.
Saw this car at the Rose Hill car show in Thornwood NY
Matt, sorry I'll take the Porsche, it's a beauty!!!!
Larry's the best!
At first I wasn't sure why this video had such a low rating but now I understand.
Goodbye Drive, you were great but there are so many other car review shows out there for free.
Question: If I subscribe to Drive+, will I have access to the entire library of videos at one time?
God damnit I was pretty butt hurt about all this Drive+ shit... I have come to the realization, I love watching these video's whats a few bucks for some great entertainment... Time to get drive plus -_- damn you guys, damn you! But I will continue to show my support :). I just have to figure out how I pay now haha.
Well fuck I subscribed haha All I have to say is I really hope there is still going to be /AfterDrive episodes. personally my favorite
it seems like it has alot of body roll
Drive+?
Damn good sound!
One problem:
*This paid channel is unavailable in your country.*
Only for a short while longer.
Finally..saw the car on sunday at Cars and Coffee, camera doesn't do it any justice
Can we all just agree that the next station after this will be called "Chris Harris with a Go-Pro" and be done with it.
I would sub and watch adds all day on that station.
If you pay for drive plus, every one will charge soon. Then everyone will raise prices.
