Track prepped Porsche 964 Carrera 4 Review - Are C4's any good?

- My friend Aaron rebuilt this 964 from stanced out to track ready. Full color change, interior refresh, Recaro's, BBS's, Brembos - all the good stuff! But what has he done to the engine.....

Totally agree, William and Comrade. Stu's enthusiasm, energy, and attitude makes his videos much more enjoyable to watch. Additionally, Stu puts a lot more effort into his video's, in my opinion, than Matt's tired format. I cannot wait to see Stu up there. I think 2018 is going to be his year. He deserves it.
*I could totally see Stu's channel grow exponentially, after Matt airs his final One-Take video. The One-Take series is very very popular, and I can imagine that the audience that watches those videos, will try and find something to replace the absence of them and will stumble upon this channel.*

Yup! I also like that he splices in the imagery of the things he's talking about, whether it be parts of the interior or exterior of the car, to even showing pictures or website pages to the mods that his guests list off. It's a subtle thing that requires more work in editing and shows how much he cares about putting out a complete video.

Man that was a cool car, cool owner, and a cool host! I may have over simplified a bit there but great video, it was very eye opening to see the longevity of those old motors if you take care of them. Over 200k miles and it looks and drives like butter!

AWD in 1989, when it came out in these cars, was a gifted tech advance derived from the game changing 959 car. How one equates an AWD Porsche to some sort of handicap in design is like saying ball point pens are nice, anyone can use them but the real pen is ink and quill. The purists dogged the 964 from it's inception... but neither did the conventional masses of the time appreciate Bach either.
If this Porsche was for sale, what would be the price tag? Just a dude looking.

Gotta say I'm not sure why that question was even asked because this question is much simpler- Are air cooled Porsches any good? The answer will always be yes. No liquid cooling system= great.

Love it. I just got a 964 about 100k. I want do some minor change to the interior and suspension nothing to the motor. Can give me Some tips on where to start. I love your car.
I would suggest getting in contact with a Porsche club. You may be best of getting an engine rebuild as that can ensure that there is nothing lurking in there.
Suspension will probably give you the biggest bang for buck on the car it can change the characteristics of your car from a stiff track car to a floating boat on the road.

C4's should have two switches behind the stick shift, one switch for the rear wing and the other one for the AWD difflock system ... this one has only one switch like a C2 ... and one more thing, the AWD system in a C4 disconnects after 30 MPH and switches to rear wheel drive only so u cant say that the car is very steady on turns and gives u confidence :P
Hey Ibrahim: Very true: C4s should have two dials behind the stick shift. The 964 in the video only has one, like a C2. Maybe Aaron changed the center console as part of his rebuild. Not sure which manual function he would want to eliminate. But,... C4s have dedicated, full-time mechanical AWD with 31% front drive and 69% rear drive. The center dial locks the front and rear drive (traction control) from 0-30mph. After 30mph, it unlocks automatically and reverts back to 31/69% front/rear drive. The traction control locking is designed to help C4s at low speeds in snow and mud. Maybe Aaron never used the 'traction control' dial and decided to eliminate it from the center console. I've never used mine and probably wouldn't miss it, if the dial was gone. Very cool car and rebuild!!!

Hey Ibrahim: Great news! Depending on where you are, you'll find the C4 may give you a bit of piece of mind with traction, knowing it's full AWD. What color? What year? Planning on many mods? Mine's a 1990 with 95k miles. I put a single mass flywheel/clutch, all new engine seals, new Bilstein shocks, new brake discs/pads. Thinking of top rebuild to 3.8 in a couple of years. Great car to drive and look at!

Michael Moser mine is 1990 with 60k miles .. not sure about the color cuz i didnt see it in person its either a dark grey or a very dark blue.. i have other drivers cars youcan see them in my insta page Astonography i have a bmw 2002 and an M5 v10 in manual which is rare and cool too
Michael Moser i live in dubai i wouldnt need the C4 awd system honestly thats why i thought of getting a C2 in the future but lets wait for the car to arrive first and see
