I don't know anything about this kind of racing, but as the one who can see the furthest ahead, I wonder if it's her job to navigate and the helmsman's job to follow her lead?
@@hinnmanfamily ...... its a course guys.. this is low lying swamp land and they just have a course setup. ether they get to circle it once before or there's a lead boat with a camera or something. they usualy know well in advance what course their supposed to take. @@hinnmanfamily Yes! Look closely and you will see that there are several times when she gives the driver a definite signal about making a sudden correction - and that she does so a moment before the driver is able to see what she sees (perhaps this is sometimes because his view is partly blocked, but still, those signals were KEY factors a few times).
Her job is to be movable "ballast". The boat goes fastest with the bow up out of the water, but it won't turn well like that. For the turns, the bow needs to be down into the water to keep the boat from spining out. Her job is to shift her weight around as needed for the best overall speed. You see this in motorcycle side car racing as well.
This is a very skilled pilot... And Spidergirl balancing the boat at the front is... Amazing! The way she holds the boat, places her feet, her motion and position have such a level of precision that the execution simply is crisp. She even warns or reminds the pilot of places to pay extra attention on the track. These two make a FANTASTIC TEAM.
This is the definition of steering by the seat of your pants. Looks like a brilliant rush, reminds me of the sidecars at the TT. Thanks for sharing, loved the vid.
Watching these boats go around corners and leaning into them with the bow ridder. Fast and precise piloting. Great racing and the courage of the bow ridders trust is amazing. Thanks for the videos.
This stuff is completely awesome that young woman is fearless and that man is very skilled at driving his boat I've never seen such gnarly down under debauchery I love it

You Aussies are bad ass!!! That looks like some fun racing. Wonder if we have anything like that here in the states. Awesome teamwork and skill. Every time you'd fly by a log or stick pointing right at ya my stomach would tighten up. Nerves of steal!! Stay safe.
I am seriously impressed by the teamwork! Adding to the old trope “*everything* in Australia is trying to kill you,” we can now add “and you’re trying to do yourselves in too!”
Wow!! brings me back to my childhood in the early 90's I greatly miss Renmark and that muddy Murray River! Epic racing mad respect! Thank you! Keep it fair dinkum!😊
Those ladies are bad asses! And the girl that was the star of the event really had quick reflexes and she's also very brave! Good job guys! Looks wicked fun! ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Amazing racing, I just hope for the young ladies sake you never have an accident. I guess I am getting old for this stuff. When I was young in late 70's I used to race bikes, hanglide, and white water canoeing. Now I am just glad I have a beer beside me when chilling in the lazyboy. Cheers from Canada, drive safe.
I absolutely love races like this where its a genuine team effort between two people who need to be able to synchronize there minds together and communicate without talking, its amazing to see how well teams like this work together under stress
I was stationed in Woomera SA from 1992-94 and will attest…the Aussies know how to have fun!!! Loved the Aussies and Australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still can’t believe they only finished 2nd. Holy crap! Who was first? Flash Gordon and Aqua Man?
What a team, the connection was there with each other all the way. I've never watched this sport before but I'm going to watch that again. What a thrill to watch. Great win.
I love this_ this reminds me of my step father, in the day he use to race outboards on his knees in the 1960s (makes sence for the day, easy to shift weight on your knees)... he had to have them replaced in his older years. but here, theres a tandom team (for the weight shifting angle), i like that, It really gives each boat member a skill, how can you NOT love the team work here... just take care of your body please. those trees arent moving until you do and your counter weights are vunerable.
Didn’t even know this sport existed, frig’n amazing! Back in the day was the monkey a few times in a racing sidecar. Very impressed by Tahlia’s skill & courage along with Andrew’s piloting. I would have been one of the back marker boats cheering you on 👍😀😎
Right? And never giving up on trying to hold the front of the boat down as best as possible so as not to lose speed in that rough water. I think I would have cried Uncle and collapsed on the floor of the boat right then.
Wow you guys must know that Race Course really good because you went all out and knew exactly where to go and your mate ,she was amazing and fearless to be at the head so near to those trees. Someone needs to cut those tress back before anyone gets a head surgery! That was amazing and really fast! loved it and couldn't look away!!
First time I’ve seen this heart in my mouth all the way serious skills both ,But the lady on the front OMG so close to some of those low branches much respect 👍

To have a partner who shares the same outdoors fun and is committed to it. That's a keeper 👏

i ducked for some branches as well yes..
I'd love to see a VR version. If they could record this in 3D from her view, holy crap!
I would get distracted watching her marvelous rear and run into something.😛
I'm all over my chair. Wow the copilot really had to be in shape. This was cool!

The adrenaline rush of hanging off the front of one of those boats in a high speed turn must be insane.

Yeah x3 on the sick mullet
