    I miss being able to hold the assassinate button and your hidden blade just pops out for fun and then walking up to an enemy and killing them without needing to stop your flow of movment. And then doing that on multiple enemies

      Tbh, I loved just standing there messing with the hidden blades in the Ezio trilogy. I also loved walking around with them out as well. I also loved that Desmond would perform the hidden blade animations.

      Hidden blade combat was one of the most satisfying forms of combat I ever experienced in a video game, really hope they bring that back.

    i was thinking that maybe basim will get faster at parkour as he gets his red robes because in the trailer he still has his blue ones. would definitly be an amazing feature

      I think that’s possible. I haven’t played the Ezio games in years, but wasn’t Ezio slower in AC2 in the first few hours? It wasn’t until the end of the game where his parkour was faster and you could climb and faster rates?

      @@dawsynasay4841 no, Ezio was always at the same speed in AC2. He got better grip gloves to do the manual leap jump, but his speed stayed the same, always.

      Mmmh that wouldn’t make any sense. When you’re marketing your game you have to show the absolute best of the gameplay you’re offering the player otherwise no one will be impressed and maybe not buy it. Story lines can be spoiled but general game mechanics make (almost always) no sense to not completely show off in trailers

    Fun fact : There is *apparently* some lore behind the assassin's focus ability. It states that the animus cannot keep up with Basim because his movement as an assassin is too fast for the animus to register, resulting in a teleportation glitch-like effect as he moves.

      Oouuhh i love that kind of "animus glitch" Like in the older Assassin's Creed where they explained the Animus can't keep up the translation, thats why we have here and there other language mixte with english (for exemple) or why Altair can't swim.

      @Nah The fear takedowns in batman arkham knight were hard af shit to program, now imagine that except you have to program movement from like 20 ft away. Oftentimes with obstacles in between the enemies you pick.

    It would make sense for Basim to start out with auto loot as he was a regular street thief before. Just tiny things that make for great detailing yet also good QoL.

    I think the game looks so promising. It can easily reach top 5 in my opinion. Everything looks good. Story looks solid. Combat looks pretty awsome. Parkour will be great as well. Maybe not as good as some other games in the franchise. Stealth looks fantastic. And the open world? Baghdad is gorgeous. It reminds me a lot of origins.

      Lol what combat looks HORRIBLE and the assasinations to wtf is this blood effect and the animations of kills are mobile game quality they still have this glitch from the oldest ac's where the corpse jumps after dying, crazy how this get hyped up i dont understand.. are you a bot or something?

      We can’t even say that yet though, ac fans always jump the gun, I’d bet half the stealth stuff and blending in is just a gimmick for a trailer

      @@numbron803 it’s like we can see it with his comment how in the hell do we know the story is solid? Parkour, looks like origins but with more intractable objects, can we really say anything about social stealth, the crows they promised and talked about aren’t there. If I saw somebody playing this and didn’t look too closely I would assume it’s bayek wearing the Altair skin in the shop.

      @@escobarsadventures6607 and we gotta remember this is Ubisoft and it's marketing. All they show are the good bits to make the game looks as good as possible to convince people to buy it.
      But as we know from Ubisoft, the trailers and gameplays they show don't always look the same as the game we end up playing.
      I genuinely hope it's as good as it looks, but again, I'm gonna wait for reviews and post launch gameplays.

    I remember ubisoft saying Basim was going to be "the fastest assassin yet," but honestly he looks to be among the slowest. I feel like his parkour animations could stand to be 15-30% faster, but aside from that I like everything they showed
    Edit: just to clarify I'm not talking about his running speed, or the intentionally slow movements done to let people absorb the environment. What I'm referring to is that climbing animations that are perhaps barely sped up from valhalla, but unnoticible to me. Aside from the animation speed on the climbing, Mirage looks very promising and as I said, love everything shown of the gameplay. What I'm hoping for is that when he advances to be a Master Assassin - as the gameplay seems to be early game - he will be faster in climbing. If that is the case and Basim gets to that faster speed as he advances through the ranks of the brotherhood, my complaint is truly void and I have pretty much no issues with what we were shown

      @@Nah-wg6dw i just want the movement to be fluid. the teleport chain assassination is fine enough, but i'd really like the movement to be what's quick and fluid and allow you to really get that assassin feeling we haven't had in years. AC Unity, Blackflag, Ezio trilogy, Syndicate, etc. all of those games you could swiftly and often smoothely maneuver through a templar base and feel like an assassin. if the parkour is stiff and slow you're still going to feel like a bumbling viking and not a trained assassin

      @@mrryan8708 I get that bit, so I'm sure the walking/running will be faster, but unless you can sprint while climbing the parkour still seems a bit too slow. Maybe they did slow down those animations for the gameplay, but I feel like there would be no reason to do that especially when you're trying to show off what its like to play the game.
      I'll need to get my hands on the game before I can really say for certain how it feels, but Basim looked a bit too slow scaling walls and such

      It feels slow because of no camera movement. Try playing a racing game without camera shake, you will drive the fastest car but it will feel super slow

    I think the light/heavy attack system may be gone. If you look close, it says you need to release the RT button to select the blowdart. This makes me think you have to tap RT to select the tool, and then release it to use it. That means the RT will very unlikely be used for heavy attacks. Again, if combat takes less importance, this change makes sense (and is great by me)

      You could be right, but it's almost the same in Valhalla, where you choose the ability to use in melee by holding RT. I hope it's as you said tho, cause I wanna have the opportunity to switch gadget in a second.

      I didn't check, but: as originally designed to be a Valhalla DLC and the fact that in the trailer it showed there are still heavy enemies, I think the attack system may not change.
      Which I hope it doesn't cause I had a blast with Valhalla 😈😈😈

    I thought that the fastest assassin yet would be made into an Arkham Fear Takedown with his multi chain assassination. I hope that the “teleportation” is just a WIP.

    Having well-designed, interesting, open-objective contracts that are actually fun and variable will do wonders for sandbox replayability for sure

    the point you were referring to at 3:27, about the faces looking weird is a very valid point and there is a plausible explanation for this. If you look at the last 2 games, odyssey, and Valhalla, they never bothered to make motion-captured facial animations like in the previous games and this is a big step down. When the faces don't have motion capture in the cutscenes, where it's most important, the characters just look like NPCs talking and they feel soulless and robot-like. This is the case not only with the faces but with the body language as well if you pay attention to the weird movements. Seeing that they continue this lazy trend with Mirage doesn't give me much hope and I'll most likely not pre-order but just wait for a discount. at least they brought back the cloth physics, which I'm happy about.

    gameplay looks better than I expected. I do hope it explores the A/Templar conflict as more of a grey area (as the contracts would imply freelance assassinations simply for profit) as this takes place before Altair's reformations to the creed

    For me the deciding factor will be the parkour, that’s always been the main draw for me - being creative with movement and using that to string together kills with momentum. Unity nailed the feelings I wanted, but the lack of control and style in the recent games has been rather frustrating at times since it often feels like my character will simply decide to not cooperate at times.
    If it remains exactly the same or is even a downgrade then the majority of the fun will be stripped out, and I might not bother

      The parkour in the gameplay does not look promising what so ever. I wouldn’t have high expectations for the parkour, it’s most likely going to be like Valhalla. I don’t understand why they can’t implement the parkour for unity into the newer games. I hope the combat and what not will make up for it.

      @@rowesamuel8586 They cant just "take" the parkour from unity and throw it in mirage. Mirage is made with the same engine as Valhalla. We are lucky they made changes to it.

    I would love somekind of upgrade system in every field. Like for example when you are still a novice assassins, it takes more time to stealth kill opponents, similiar to Ghost of Tsushima and later it will be much more smoother and faster so the game will alao make you feel like you are becoming better assassins as you move forward in the game. And agility, climbing, parkour, etc. should also get better as you rise in the ranks of the assassins.

    I'm a massive Origins fan and to me this just looks like Origins mixed with AC1, and I'm perfectly fine with that. The parkour in Origins is actually quite good if you find the right opportunities, and Baghdad seems to be dense and littered with these opportunities. It will never be on the level of the older games but it is a system I feel many scoff at when it does have potential if done correctly. Great video, I'm glad to see others as excited about the game as I!

    Apparently, the devs said that while Assassin Focus *looks* supernatural, it actually isn't. That just shows Basim's speed as an Assassin, and that he's too fast even for the Animus to track his movements in between his targets.

      that's just a cop out excuse for them not animating Basim moving from kill to kill and to pretend Basim is the fastest assassin as they claim. Arno was way faster and the animus could keep up perfectly fine with his movements.

    Teleportation kind of makes sense for Basim as the reincarnation of Loki, though he never used that against Eivor in Valhalla instead just extreme speed when he should be more in tune with Loki and having more experience (since that will almost certainly have an effect during the game)

    Finally, I could back to the AC that I always loved, desired, and wanted, after a long departure from the series since the RPG trilogy that began in Egypt back in 2017.
    I'm so excited for this one, and can't wait to play it.
    Please Ubisoft deal with it with the extreme care and caution that it deserves.

    Nice Reaction video, I have the exactly same take on this gameplay demo in every detail literally as you mentionned it, all in all more hyped now than before, theres is good potential in Mirage to take the series back to the right track, wont be instantly perfect but at least taking the first steps back to the culture of AC games that we true assassins love!     ubisoft said the reason it teleports is because basim is moving so fast when he focuses that the animus cant keep up so it stutter/teleports behind basim its kinda like ac1 when it would say "fast forwarding memory to a more recent one"

    I hope they add some minor storytelling in the gameplay of the prologue.
    In AC3, Haytham can't actually Tree-Run like Connor will be able to, due to him not growing up in an environment that would necessitate that skill.
    I hope that Basim, in the prologue before joining the Hidden Ones, will be completely unable to Free-Run, like we saw in the cinematic trailer. After joining, hes taught how to do it, and we unlock the ability to do parkour.
    Maybe they could tie this further into the general gameplay loop. Ad you do missions (aka, learning through experience), Basim gets better at doing parkour, having smaller gaps between jumps, less ending lag after large jumps, taking less time to pull himself up, etc. They could even bring back old mechanics like that, unlocking side-ejects and the like as Basim gets better.

    I have a feeling that they went with teleportation because of environment. Considering the fact that most of soldiers can be placced on different levels of height. you need to use parkour and jumps in order to get to your target , which would requiere developers to create adaptive autopilot that reads environment, finds a path between targets and applies parkour animations. teleportation removes this problem. It is not that I am a fan of such decision, but it is what it is.

      Tho in Unity,the same thing applies to the soldier and mission structure ,they are pretty much everywhere,and still don't have something like teleportation assasination,tho i think its a great variety for the game.Allow player to approach the assassination using either the classic way or by using the ability

      @@boy2632 Gamers are big bois, they can limit it themselves, and you don't need a button for it.
      But You missed the point here (or I wasn't clear enough). What I meant is that developers wanted to add a multi-kill that mechanically and visually was close to batman arkham knight, but faced multiple challenges (described before), thus instead of leaping, jumping, and dashing they simply added teleportation.
      "Why couldn`t they just remove it then?" You may ask. Because it was one of the key elements of the cinematic trailer. And you can't cancel the selling points showcased in a big cgi trailer with many likes under it.
      And my bet is it will be explained with ISU, superhuman senses that either the memory of Bassim can't memorize or animus can't properly read the DNA of ISU, like when we were seeing visions of Odin.
      I think we will get this ability after meeting with Genie, who is Loki. Imagine your memory going blank for a second while the second pilot (Loki) takes control. This is my theory.

    I feel like everyone has a rose coloured glasses looking back at the Ezio trilogy. I loved the games at the time, both the story and gameplay were fantastic. But playing them now I literally can’t make it past an hour, it’s so janky.
    So honestly this looks like a modern take on that style of game and I’m 100% for it

    My biggest hope is that they really think things through & make this THE Assassins Creed game for fans of the old & the new. After this gameplay video though, I have to say I'm actually really hyped. Last time I Played an Assassins Creed game was Unity. But with Mirage looking like a return to the old formula, I'm feeling ready to return to the series!

    I know people dislike the parkour feeling slow but I think its a good change. When rushing from point A to point B at high speeds its hard to admire the city or look for the next place to jump to.

      I don’t mind the parkour from what we’ve seen, but admiring your surroundings was never the point or appeal of parkour. The point was to have fun getting around and improving while doing so. I’m just happy that the parkour is improving.

      Nah it’s very possible still. But that’s why runners take a smooth pause during running to stand at a city corner and admire their view. As an observer from above

      That can be fixed by making the high profile and sprint buttons different. Which was the case in older games.

    Just saying this...
    For those who are like basim is slow, gotta tell you IT IS POSSIBLE that they just didn't hold down the freerun button and did the parkour by hitting it.
    You can see this in the part where basim is trying to jump on a zip line.

    Not a fan of assassin's focus ability since I expected this game to be a lot more grounded like older games where you didn't have superpowers. I guess one could always choose not to use it. When I replayed the last three games, I did not mark enemies with bird and that made stealth slower but a lot more interesting.

    Honestly it could he amazing and a cool details about how basim could get faster as the Story progress signifying how he grows as an assasin throughout the Story. Instead if making it rpg like where you need to get a specific ability.
    Honestly i really do love the settings of Baghdad. Imo it could definitely be up their with the top games.
    The only thing which kinda distrubs me is the multi kill assasination

    The new assassination animation is actually from Unity / Syndicate, I'm surprised they were able to port it over.

    One thing I caught is that when he parried the guard, his sword instantly teleported from his sheath to his hand. So yeah that's some minus points for immersion.

    Since Altair basically “invented” the double hidden blade concept within the codex, it wouldn’t make much sense for earlier Assassins to have it

    The gameplay got me pretty excited it was what j figured it would be nothing like unity but still decent looking i don't really mind the valhalla mechanics for then parkour looks like we can still have some fun with it and the assassination animations look super good

    Whether the parkour speeds up or not I think the most important part is they are trying at least. This was originally suppose to be a dlc of vahalla not a full on game and its using the vahalla system so 8ts unrealistic to believe it would be the same as the AC1 through Unity

    It gonna be a really smooth version of Assassin's Creed origins Odyssey and Valhalla with newer advanced parkour stealth and new assassination mechanics that slows Time allowing for multiple assassinations.

    I think the the parkour is probably at its best for this engine, like he has the movement speed we’d all like but also has weighted look to his animations which I like imo

    One thing that can easily ruin the gameplay is low quality poor audio which has been a problem in almost all latest Assassin's creed game

    I think the damaging dart will work similar to the fast poison darts in liberation, you hit the target and a few seconds later, they die

    Note, Basim is not using a throwing knife for double assassinations. See the parts before using (noisemakers) and after double assassinating the guard (trap)

    I really hope this isn’t the final parkour because its very stop-start, i know its passed on from Valhalla but they need to bring back the flow of the old games where parkour wasn’t painful to watch

    I'm really satisfied overall with gameplay, but I am curious at wtf Ubisoft has been doing to make their graphics worse since 2014.. All their textures for buildings and people kinda look like clay. Also could do without the crosshair when crouching. I do kinda wish they had incorporated more of Unity's parkour but I'm still satisfied with the parkour. (Although it is a bit slow)

    we´ll have to see how fast basim really is while running or doing parkour because clearly although you could see the animations are sped up compared to valhalla, you´re not seeing the full potential of the parkour speed probably on purpose being slower in that gameplay to allow watchers to see everything without suddenly being shocked by a fast parkour or running scene.. but it looks promising and as i expected it to be, improved, yet similar to what we had and not as perfect as we´d hoped for, hopefully being truthfull to the statement of basim being the fastest assassin. Related to that is the assassin focus ability.. i liked it, i would´ve loved that it was, like you said, the same as in the batman games and this teleportation thing threw me off until i heard the lore explanation of it, as it seems that basim, being loki, an isu reincarnated and also the fastest assassin, is so fast that the vr of the animus is unable to render his super fast movements when he does this, so it looks like he´s teleporting, watching it through the animus, although he wouldn´t have teleported irl.. you know, the explanation is that the animus gets buggy during his ability. Obviously it´s a poor out of universe excuse to add a ``super power´´ to the game and give us the still somewhat present rpg elements, but at least it´s not a real super power and it´s explained as a failure of the animus due to basim´s high speed so i like it although i wish it was a more fleshed out sequence of animations rather than a teleport. Story wise and when it comes to the roots, yeah, i´m sold, and i can see an improvement on the graphics and animations although they´re basically a copy paste, and i still liked them, it´s just they weren´t as good as unity, syndicate and even origins facial animations, character models etc but this one being an inter generational game still, obviously is gonna share those and yet i can see them looking a little bit better. In general i see the potential and i´m already sold even with the things i hoped would be better than they are and things i might not like as much, i don´t see why people like to complain about everything, this is clearly a good change and a step in the right direction again, which ubisoft might follow if we, the fans, support that and show the game some love, otherwise they´ll go back to... well, oddyssey XD

    The parkour is actually pretty fast (see how fast he climbs buildings and the sequence where after killing the marksman, he crosses that lengthy rope as well as how fast he runs along and jumps on the other rope before multi kill).
    They just showed low profile parkour for the maximum showcase.

      He did tho, i'd give Ubisoft that. Reminds me of Prince of Persia and Aladdin but, he's a pre-Loki so... And don't forget he still alives to this modern day, like wow. Super care to the root writing, what's next? We get to see Basim teleport in modern day?

    idk about any1 else but when I heard Mirage was gonna be back to the roots I was really hoping to get a mini map again instead of the like bar at the top of the screen, I havent played any of the rpg games so maybe thats why but I just much prefer a mini map and I want to hope they add it but i doubt it

    They also had a parry kill in Valhalla, tap the shield button while they swing and then you can pick up their weapon and stab them with it.

    That multikill thing was just the chain assassination from AC liberation but with more magic. They should've just kept it as it was if they were going to reuse that mechanic

    idk if its just me but I really was hoping for a real texture update but it looks the same as valhalla and its kinda sad, I am someone who got my introduction to the AC universe in Rouge and that game looked ahead of its time where as here its kinda feels like they are still stuck in 2018. obviously sandbox has come a long way along side lighting technologies. its truly amazing but its the same as the new cod games its one leap forward in one area but shortcuts everywhere else

    Although its not exactly a “return to roots” but it is a stepping stone! Meaning Ubisoft might see how in demand the original style is and improve it. Slowly removing these rpg elements(resources, enemy bars etc). Getting a trilogy with Basim would be interesting bc with each game they could improve and make the parkour more unity like. Story wise it could mean Basim is becoming a better assassin so he becomes more stylish and smoother throughout the games!

    is it just me or do all these rpg ac games have the same building structures? Bagdad honestly just looks like a city in ac origins. This is also not really going back to the roots. There's so many things that need to be in an ac game for it to be like the older ones. I really hope they make a true ac game one day.

    I instantly accepted the assassin's focus abillity as the animus skipping parts of the story, I don't find it unrealistic instead I'm still more upset about the eagle we can somehow control from origins and see through it's vision

    I loved every ac games including the rpgs so it got me excited and I didn’t mind the teleport chain attack it looks cool ik it doesn’t really fit in for an assassin but still looks cool and I’m excited for Star Wars outlaws even tho you’re not a Jedi I’m happy to experience some more of the Star Wars verse

    Im excited!! Man I picked the perfect time to get into Assassin's Creed...Just discovered Origins in april on gamepass & I love it!!! Im on my 2nd playthrough. Once im done with the DLC ill move on to Odyssey. I have no plans on playing Valhalla though, i dont like the setting nore the gameplay. Its been a while since ive been excited about a game but this is one
