Santuario Madonna del Lago | Garbagna | AL

A monte del paese di Garbagna, sulle colline della località di Lago di Feiga, si erge il Santuario della Madonna del Lago, proprio nel punto in cui si narra che la Madonna apparve ad una fanciulla, muta dalla nascita, che lì pascolava il suo gregge.
Era il 1341 e questo fatto miracoloso viene collegato alla fine della guerra tra Guelfi e Ghibellini (7 giugno 1341), perché, la tradizione racconta, che Maria offrì la sua protezione e la fine di ogni lotta e violenza in quel territorio, se avessero fatto costruire un santuario in suo onore.
La pastorella, riacquistata la parola, corse a riferire dell’apparizione della Madonna tra lo stupore dei suoi compaesani e riferì della promessa.
In poco tempo venne edificata una piccola cappella in onore della Madonna.
Negli antichi statuti della città si sancisce l‘astinenza del lavoro in tutti i venerdì di maggio, proprio in onore della Madonna del Lago e ancora oggi il culto mariano è molto sentito.
Ogni anno molti fedeli, in particolare a maggio, vengono in pellegrinaggio al Santuario della Madonna del Lago e l’ultimo venerdì di maggio la statua di Maria viene onorata con una grande processione.
Il secolo scorso fu eretta proprio accanto alla cappella, una nuova chiesa, con la partecipazione dei cittadini garbagnoli emigrati in America, ma che hanno ancora a cuore il loro paese natio e il Santuario della Madonna del Lago.
Il santuario è aperto e visitabile i venerdì di maggio, a Ferragosto, la 2° domenica di settembre nonché ogni qualvolta vi si celebrano le funzioni religiose.
