Chiesa di San Cassiano | Velate | VA

La storica chiesa costruita in stile romanico sorge sull’antica strada pedemontana del Campo dei Fiori in direzione del Verbano. Vicina ad Avigno, è isolata e quasi nascosta nel verde.
Dedicata ai Santi Ippolito e Cassiano, in origine era una semplice aula che terminava con un abside semicircolare; viene citata per la prima volta in un documento del 1115. L’antico campanile è romanico.
Una successiva opera di restauro nel 1987 riportò alla luce le monofore precedentemente ricoperte.
