    Love that you can explain everything so clearly in a way I can understand. I been training for years on and off. And now after major surgery I am recovering and dropped from 200lbs to 110lbs so I feel all this is overlooked by many and I gotta say training smarter is the best way rather than throwing weight around and not having any type of muscle connection. Thanks for the content brother keep it up 👍

    Nice work Mike! The more I've developed my back, the less I focus on my grip; it's just where my hands are connected, because I'm working back, not forearms and biceps.

    9:51 Thanks for explaining the rep tempo. I've been struggling finding my own tempo and a lot of what I've seen is what you described. I was following that style of staying too much on the negative and peak contraction and it felt wrong, for me at least. I'm having a much better time just contracting without "overthinking" each goddamn rep.

    • @Noughtnowknoteva
      @Noughtnowknoteva 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hold tension at end points of movement will create more tension elsewhere. Get the contraction and let the weight length or shorten the muscle again depending on the movement

    I've noticed you love your machines Mike.
    What do you think of movements like barbell rows, deadlifts, weighted pullups, dumbbell rows, dumbbell pullovers for back development?

    • @youokaybuddyfitness
      @youokaybuddyfitness 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      good for beginners. Too taxing later on

    • @MrKratosin
      @MrKratosin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think because machines did control "more" the things and moviment
      them free weights (i 31)
      I use Way more machines them free weights
      and if see he put into positions With free weight dont have tension

    • @sgnole09
      @sgnole09 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@youokaybuddyfitness lol that statement is not true.... at all....
      its the mere fact that if you are "building the body" and focusing on a specific body part during a workout, what better way to do it than to use a machine that is specifically designed to move on a plane that focuses directly on the muscle you are trying to build...

    • @Noughtnowknoteva
      @Noughtnowknoteva 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      All those movements are great. I just simply prefer other movements. Db rows were a staple in my lifting When I was younger. We are spoiled at pure muscle with some machine great machines. Sometimes I forget to use db’s in all honesty. I will do a vid on dumbbell rows again.
