I find myself glancing at my watch all the time, but instead of checking my email or reading a text I’m just admiring the beauty of something for a few seconds. I’d rather have moments of extra beauty peppered throughout my day rather than another electronic device to distract me and demand my attention.
haha all your reasons are right on point. Not long ago, I was at work and a co worker noticed my old Seiko and was like "Oh, you're into watches?" and I got a little excited. I thought "Nice! I am about to buy a traditional digital casio watch and about to quit using my miBand 5. I don't really see many benefits other than continuous heart rate monitoring which I don't need. The cons outweigh the pros.
I understand your point. I am a watch lover too. But if fitness holds an important part in your lifestyle, it’s hard to skip smart watches and or gps sport watches like Apple watches and Garmin watches. The most important challenge that I have is how to rotate between my Garmin watch (Fenix 7 and Forerunner 955) and my Casio g shock Rangeman gw9400. I am an amateur marathon runner, so I cannot imagine myself without my Garmin watches…

It honestly put me in the middle, on one hand it always used to blow my mind that a watch could keep time thought tiny components and springs that seemingly comes together creating a master peace, but on the other hand I love having a peace of technology on my wrist that can keep me in touch with loved ones without the distractions of my phone having to be on me.
But thats the thing thats holding me back from getting an apple watch, my phone IS constantly on me 😂 ive lived everyday of my life without knowing how long ive slept and how many steps ive taken or how many breaths i took while eating a burrito, why start now 😂

I am litteraly in the same boat. Want to buy mechanical watches, as that is more manly, more serious. But for my job, an Apple Watch is extremely helpful. Makes life 10 times easier.
Just bought my first Seiko Prestage SSA347J1 an Automatic watch. It took me somw time and effort to research what kind of watch I wanted for myself. Never ever have I thought about an smartwatch…
I shattered my Apple Watch SE after it fell in the shower today. I don’t think i’ll get another one nor get it repaired, given my warranty is expired too. It actually wasn’t worth it in retrospect.
As someone who appreciates the intricacy of a well-made analog watch, I’ve tried an Apple Watch on a few occasions. The most recent being yesterday and the most recent return will be tomorrow. My Oris Diver 65 is working just fine as a swim watch and I don’t want/need notifications beeping while I’m swimming or hiking or biking.
Very interesting point on the design obsolescence. On a more superficial level I feel like apple watches also become obsolete in the sense that once a new model comes all the older models become "dated" and are no longer trendy to wear. meanwhile a nice watch looks timeless
Your most cogent remark was: "[analog watches] are a throwback to the days when you were allowed to be bored!" Yes, I remember those days well, when cutting-edge technology was color tv. I, also, will never own an apple watch. When they came out, my first thought was that these look exactly like the digital watches of the early 1980's, that had a calculator function. What's old is new again, I guess. I wear my Seiko turtle diver at the gym surrounded by everyone else wearing their apple watches (in addition to looking at their cell-phone every two seconds). My only digital watch is an (original 8 lap) Timex ironman, for two reasons. 1. I do think the design is unique and interesting. 2. I run and swim so it is more functional than an analog watch in that regard. I enjoyed this post and your philosophy on watches.
Watches like Casio are inexpensive enough that you can just replace the whole watch when it stops working. With mechanical watches, as long as you have it on your wrist it will keep moving and will keep moving with you.
Cool content Max, really enjoyed your views on this topic. I don't own an apple per se but my wife has one. Although I agreed with most of your points, I do believe it works for some. As for me, I do wear a mechanical on my left wrist and an unobtrusive Garmin activities tracker on my right. Keep up the wonderful content
I have a hybrid watch. I find it very useful because it allows me to keep track of my health and receive essential, unobtrusive, notifications on my wrist. Other than that, the watch looks like a regular mechanical watch and I’m very happy with it because it’s a good compromise between traditional and unconventional.
Very well put! I'm a big fan of automatic watches and the 5 reasons in your video completely makes sense. Watching this video was calming as watching time move on an automatic watch!
Put my Watch in a drawer a few weeks ago and ordered a Casio 53W. I don’t even miss the AW. The Casio has all I need, as I use the calculator quite often on to go. Don’t need the buzzing, pinging, calling etc as much as I thought. Plus how annoying are the productivity apps ? You have to first learn how they work, get used to them… ah.
totally agree with this, I just dont get why we need to put those 2 objects in competition, they are not comparable. They are just 2 different things. I have an apple watch (that I find super helpful) and a few mechanical watches (that I love). If I want to track my activity I wear the apple watch (and seriously, who would wear a speedmaster on a snowboard day??? the alternative would be no watch at all, in case). If I go out for dinner I use my mechanical. There's space for both in my life, I just use the right tool for the right job.
How are they not in competition. You have 2 wrists. One of them is for a watch. It's redundant tech. People are literally too lazy to grab their phone and look at it. They are too addicted to their phones to look at them when it's convenient. If you need a watch like this it's more about your toxic relationship with tech and less about it's usefulness
I used an Apple Watch for years until I was sick of the planned obsolescence of it. The constant distractions hindered me more than helped me, even if it was telling me to get up and move around a little. I’ve opted for a solar powered watch and have been wearing it ever since.
Fantastic episode. On an analog, ever notice that the arclength from your present point to your anticipated moment seems to provide a more nonchalant, casual perception than the numerical pace that you calculate on a digital clock for the equivalent span of time?
I think it’s the spatial relation; 15 minutes on an analog is a quarter of the watch face whereas 15 minutes on a digital is only three 5 minute spans or five 3 minute spans.🤷🏻♂️
In the book After Steve they talk about how the watch was intended to check your blood sugar and be entirely medical related.. then that ended up being a scam so they had to turn it into a fitness product at the last second. It checks out because they turned a pretty good idea into a vague-ish mini iphone rip off with some neat things.
I have a mechanical watch too. And I've been using it for more than 3 years. It got to the point where after a year my weight started to increase, and I had a messy sleep. And I decided to maintain my lifestyle well in the future. I thought about the Apple Watch. It's true that the AW is a technology and not a rugged watch. However, it is a tool. I decided to give it to my mother after 2 weeks of using it because I am very used to mechanical watches. But here it is, apparently I feel that I am very happy using AW. Why? Look, in my messy life right now, this is very useful. So I can know my body condition, heart rate and sleep quality from day to day. Also this makes exercising feel more enjoyable. I think when this video was made the last series that came out was series 6. I'm using series 8, and it really feels really great. But I also won't abandon mechanical watches. I always put it in my bag. When I want to wear it, I will wear it. And if the battery runs out, I will wear a mechanical watch. But now with just 30 minutes of charging you will get a whole day of battery. Yes, that's my view. However, for people who live a healthy life without having to continue exercising or at least do exercise regularly, the Apple Watch will not be useful. Because their lives are fine and exercising is something they will definitely do even without reminders.
I’m an Apple Ecco system SME and work with many Apple staff as part my job. I’ve gone past the stage of fanboi, some of my colleagues have a good laugh as I don’t go rushing out to get the latest Apple tech, mainly because I know I’ll get one free at some point lol.. I have been tempted to get an Apple Watch, been offered one a few times at work but asked for something else more useful instead like an iPad Pro. My main driver are Casio G Shocks, I have several and can normally find one that suites my mood for the day.. I’ve tried wearing bracelet watches but that just scratches the hell out of the clasp, the desk or the MacBook. Not to mention the weight and “tiredness” it can cause. For watches that three watch collection, I started with an omega seamaster 80s quartz dress watch that was my dad’s. It’s beautiful, loved it from when my dad first got it and was so happy when it passed it on to me. I don’t often get invited to an event that would need me to wear a dress watch so the quartz factor is a bonus. I’ve recently became the owner of a planet ocean, still amazed by it’s looks and try to wear it as much as possible.. Not sure what I will get for the third yet… tempted for a panda speedmaster racer or something to keep it in the seamaster line.. Anyway; I unfortunately do need to rely on smart features, so on my other wrist is the a miiband, which gives me all the smart features I need, serval days battery life and cheap enough to replace every two years with the latest model without even having to think about it. Best thing is that it’s actually a band, so it doesn’t give the two watch look.. lol Thanks for the vid
I have both… it helps be stay away from my phone as I dont have anxiety that I’ll miss out on an important notification … but I still love the look of an analogue watch and the clean sweep of a mechanical watch is to die for but the apple watch seems generic but its a hell lot useful and it helps me stay active … overall I love the look of mechanical watches and I have so many of them to choose from but I love the functionality of an Apple watch how such a small device can do it all .. its even more fascinating than a Smartphone
As you get older, features like "fall detection", ability to call for emergency services, and having a phone on your wrist to make a phone call in case of trouble, 24/7 becomes increasingly important, whether walking or driving. So independent cellular is important to some people who don't always have their iPhone.
My apple watch (series 4) just stopped working after 1year and 11months. Apple service does not repair watches, rather they just replace it at slightly more than half the price of a new one. I had replaced this same watch after a month of use when its screen got shattered after falling from my waist height. Now I pondering whether i should replace it or not. I am starting to have similar thoughts like you. The value degrades so quick compared to an analogue watch. Maybe i should just save up and get a mechanical watch from reputed brand that i could pass on.
I get what you say overall. I have a large collection of vintage and modern watches, which I rotate regularly. However, a well made quartz watch is a fine machine to wear. A Seiko Turtle or 7a28 chronograph, Breitling, or Omega quartz is wonderful. And learning to do your own battery changes is good! Also, I’m a triathlete so I have a Garmin as my “beater” watch that I use to track my training.
Always liked taking care of my things, and so I also like things I get value out of taking care of. I like leather products, classic cars and mechanical watches. I study mech. engineering and it's just made me stick to my guns even more... I understand why we need planned obsolescence, but I still like limiting the number of things I have that quickly wear out. Especially as I tend to get attached to the things I use everyday.
Late to this one. Finally compromised with a discrete Mi Band on right and fav mechanical on left. Have gradually turned off all notifications but useful for alarms, steps, and phone alert. All I need, perfect set up.
i agree 100 percent. apple died when Steve did. they haven't done shit since then but sell glued together garbage. and i loved Apple! I've owned a 99' ibook, imac lamp, MBP, mac mini, endless iPods (2 gen-classic) but nothing they put out now has the magic that era of Apple did. from steves return until his death.
Have to admit the whole Apple phenomena has always been lost on me, so was never going to own an Apple watch. I have no issue with people wearing smart watches. I just prefer mechanical and digital watches. Personally having my smartphone on me or close practically all the time is enough tech interaction
I was initially going to say your first point really resonates with me but then I watched the rest. Couldn't agree more. Probably my favourite ep you've put out (after the Polerouter). Excellent!
I have two mechanical watches and a Garmin Fenix 7. I agree with all of your reasons for not wearing an AW. I've turned off nearly all of the notifications on the Fenix. I don't need it buzzing at me all day. But yeah, the AW is atrocious!
Loved your explanations for everything! This video made me reaffirm my decision to quit using my apple watch series 7. I used it for everything except for checking the time. After a point I even turned off notifications for Instagram and WhatsApp as the constant haptic nudge felt so unnecessary and distracting. I used it in the gym but it was not that helpful, but for running I think it can be quite useful. Now I'm happy to use a casio a168 and looking forward to buying my first mechanical watch soon!
Love my simple automatic, but did just order an Apple wrist computer. We'll see how it goes. Not convinced I'll love it, but will give it a shot. Already know that severely restricting notifications will be a top priority. I mostly do want it to be a watch.
you would probably laugh at my watch collection, its not exactly luxury but i love it. my favorite watch is the hamilton field khaki 38 mechanical. it fits my style and there is something beautiful about watching it work. i enjoy your channel keep it up. great production and content
Just coming across your video, for almost my whole life I refused to wear anything other than a mechanical watch, I wouldn’t even think of wearing a soulless quartz watch, recently I went out and bought a Apple Watch ultra 2. The surprising fact about it is it lets me disconnect from my phone and social media and tech in general, my notification are set to family only and since it has cell service I can leave my house for the first time in a decade without my phone but still remain reachable. Here’s how I use it: Watch Music controller Family messages Alarm Fitness And lastly, I don’t treat or think of it as a mobile device, it’s a almost indestructible watch and that’s how I treat it, like a g shock that can make calls and pay for things.
Awesome video. I only have a Garmin watch for my runs, after the run I go back to a regular watch. I'm restarting my collection, so only have one at the moment. I have a Timex explorer. I was trying to navigate the waters of the small watch ⌚. I must say I love it. Having already on my mind a Nomos 😅
3 years on, still a very relevant video. The oldest mechanical watch in my collection is the humble SKX007, which I bought brand new more than 10 years ago… Still going strong and still part of my daily rotation. Try that with an apple watch :)
It is not which one is better, but which one suit your need. As example, I choose to use automatic watch that not accurate (delay 8 seconds per day), have to twist calendar four times a year, able to self-service (nothing to busy with), not shock absorber and looks nice as a vintage piece. 😂

Indeed AW is an extension of the phone. AW Series 7 was my first to try to see if it fits my life; although i turned off many notifications i became paranoid and very much irritated. Yet; why do I have to carry another charger with me! It goes off when I need it most.
Obsolescence - Wearing a Series 3, still going strong, mechanical watches need regular servicing Distractions - Set up Focus/Notifications History - Jony Ive studied classic watch designs and let them inform the Apple Watch 4&5 aren't arguments in a conventional sense
Ok, but on your point about The Social Dilemma, why not just disable notifications from social media? I’ve been doing that for ages on my iPhone. Getting a lot of email that doesn’t need your attention? Turn off email push notifications. It’s not really a case of all or nothing IMO - there are ways to cut the noise and get genuine time-sensitive notifications on your wrist.
while I agree with all your points, i feel like if someone wants or needs to wear a smart watch for health/fitness reasons, the apple watch is the best, from a design standpoint. because unlike most other smart watches, it doesnt try to look like a watch, it just looks like a tiny iphone on a strap. thats why i dont think of traditional watches and the apple watch as competitors. in fact, ive seen a lot of people wearing a mechanical/quartz watch on one wrist and an apple watch on the other.
@@vincentjack735 i dont wear a smartwatch myself, all im saying is that i can see other peoples valid reasons to wear an apple watch. doesnt have to be just fitness, i can totally see the appeal of being able to answer messages without pulling out your phone
I know I am only 2 years late making my comment but I was wondering, why does it have to be one or the other? Why not wear an Apple Watch at times when you want to just track fitness, run errands etc. etc. and wear the fancy watch on the other days? It could also be changed up for work as well.
I am a Rolex fan but I do have an Apple watch as well. My Apple watch is my daily beater and I don't really care if it is all scratched up. But my Rolexes are meant for happy occasions, and I like to keep them pristine. I loved to steal glances at my Rolexes when I wear any of them. But I can't really bother to look at my Apple watch after the novelty wore off.
Brilliant video, mate. And exactly my thoughts.. all of them. Couldn't be bothered with since they introduced the bloody square thing. Love all your videos, btw. Cheers
Totally agree. Came back to conventional watch after going through 3 upgrade obsolescence cycles of Apple Watch. AW has all the flaws you mention + it is too slow to display when I read at a glance. Yet I haven’t put the AW away. It’s great for health monitoring and health parameter tracking. I hike, pool and open water swim and it’s ruggedness and mapping functionality are excellent in those environments. It means I can leave my phone in my pocket to see alerts (intrusive as you suggest but less so than pulling out the buzzing iPhone). The elegance of a time piece powered by ambient light or body motion is unapproachable by the AW. So I seem to be transitioning back to conventional but don’t want to switch watches to get into the pool. Obsolescence I address by wearing the penultimate AW that is abandoned by my always up to date wife. For now, the AW is on my right wrist while my real timepiece on my left. I prefer long sleeves anyway so my Schwartzkopf dorkiness isn’t obvious. I use the smallest AW and the most plainly colored band since it’s not there for show. I like to think that most of the attention goes to the real watch on my left wrist: today the Speedy Pro on Omega NATO. I’m open to changing my lifestyle and attitudes away from the need for an AW. Retirement gets me a little closer every day. When and if AW goes solar the charging objection will disappear and AW appeal would increase, the decision made a closer call. So I’m in tension but slowly sliding back towards a real watch alone. Wonderful thought and content... newly subscribed... also worked in medicine: anesthesiologist
@@WatchCrunchOfficial l just inherited the upgraded EKG functionality from my wife whose newest AW iteration does oxygen saturation. Always the next AW makes the one we have obsolete. When I trained in anesthesia pulse oximetry was an exotic dream of the future. When I was a medical student >40 years ago I briefly entertained dreams of neurology until I was sure I needed to be more realistic given my limited diagnostic powers. Back then neurologists were depressingly caricatured as able to diagnose precisely without hope of being able to treat definitively. Things have improved to a degree. Anyway, Happy New Year.
I wear my Apple Watch when I sleep and for exercise. Other than that, normal watch. I do not have many automatic watches so still have to change batteries.
I agree. I own a series 8 and currently back and forth about my watch. I might wait a while. Like when the 10 or 11 to come out I might consider getting one again. The like that I have a phone on my wrist in case emergency happen but that’s all.
There is absolutely nothing in the series 9 to make it worth upgrading to. Wait until your watch either breaks, has its battery degrade, or stops getting support. Every Apple Watch has been the same thing every year. I’m personally keeping my series 8 until 2028
What dragged me away from mechanical watches was their fragility. I killed so many escapements… Digital it is if you want a tool watch and not a fashion statement.
I have both. I own an apple watch and my mechanical watches are a seiko 5 snk and invicta pro diver. I love the mechanical watches way more, its something magical about them and old school, like they used to be build once upon a time, its a throwback to better days. But at the same time I like the cutting edge of the apple watch. I am weird :)) but if you were to take all of my quartz and mechanical watches, I would definently keep a mechanical one and give the rest of them and the apple watch away.
Just started watching your videos (and subscribed haha), love the production quality and more importantly love the watches! Definitely see this channel booming
I have to agree with you even though I do love my Apple Watch. I almost see it is kind of a toy. I appreciate a truly well-made, mechanical watch as a piece of art.
Yeah...all that, too. The need for frequent charging is the real dealbreaker for me. I’ve got three Apple products that are in constant use, and it is a pain enough to keep them periodically charged. But a watch that needs way more attention for charging...I just don’t want to give it all that much attention. And besides...they’re ugly.
If only my mechanical watches had GPS and maps that I could make useful in the woods. I enjoy both my Constellation and Seamaster, but having a GPS on my wrist is a game changer.
The whole area of watches is complicated (no pun intended.) Problem is When you get into collecting - ie. watch addiction - then eventually it is always about getting the next watch. I agree that an Apple Watch can only really be justified if you are going to use it as a tool.
Great vid Max. That Apple watch with the brown leather strap looks ok to me. If it was just a watch say like the Pulsar P1, you pushed the crown and it displayed the time in red LED numerals and cost $30 then I would buy one.
Yes Morgan, the band is really the savior, and I must say the quick change system is pretty ingenious! Whatever happened to the modular electronic moment when you can just replace parts of the thing over time as needed 🤷♂️. The pulsar is rad, like a Casio from space!
The word “watch” was a coincidence. They are two different categories of wearable. One is a health tracker that accidentally tells time. One is a jewellery that still tells time. Comparing them never produce anything fruitful. You don’t wear jewellery to hike and you don’t wear heart monitor to a party (unless you have heart issue).
I have an Apple Watch Series 3 that is in rough condition, but still works perfectly fine for something that came out in 2017. I mean, if Apple makes a product to last for a long time, older people will recommend it to young users, therefore adding more users and revenue for Apple.
The most important function of a watch is keeping the time. An Apple Watch will beat out any mechanical and quartz watch in time keeping accuracy, for better or for worse.
The most high tech thing I ever put on my wrist is an atomic G-Shock. Lately though I’ve been doing a Schwarzkopf - SKX007 on the left, Casio W-59 on the right. And the “tech” in that wonky Casio feels juuuust right.
Excellent! Warning: they can be quite addictive. Especially the Squares. Have fun! Did I hear in one of your videos that you work in a hospital? I’ve read that others in that line of work like the G-Shocks because they’re easy to clean. Cops also like them for that same reason.
The only reason I don’t own an apple watch is because I’m a watch lover and have a lot of watches and I know if I own an apple watch I won’t use all of my watches anymore and for me personally a real watches lover don’t need an apple watch in their life
I find myself glancing at my watch all the time, but instead of checking my email or reading a text I’m just admiring the beauty of something for a few seconds. I’d rather have moments of extra beauty peppered throughout my day rather than another electronic device to distract me and demand my attention.
That's money well spent Seth 👍. You look at your analog watch when YOU want, not when IT wants your attention. Important difference
I do that with my steel applewatch ! I love how it looks in many lights
When that EMP goes off you all wish you were wearing mechanical!

Thanks Eddy, for sharing your experiences. And props for doubling up 👍
I have a hybrid watch. I find it very useful because it allows me to keep track of my health and receive essential, unobtrusive, notifications on my wrist. Other than that, the watch looks like a regular mechanical watch and I’m very happy with it because it’s a good compromise between traditional and unconventional.
Which is the hybrid watch do you use?
Which watch do you wear?
@@Durin_Son I wear the Withings Steel HR but there are newer ones out now.
@@davidmelchor467 thanks for sharing. I'll check those out.
Very well put! I'm a big fan of automatic watches and the 5 reasons in your video completely makes sense. Watching this video was calming as watching time move on an automatic watch!
Jump in! See you on the other side 😉
I stopped wearing my Apple Watch for over a year and went back wearing real watches.
I think it’s the spatial relation; 15 minutes on an analog is a quarter of the watch face whereas 15 minutes on a digital is only three 5 minute spans or five 3 minute spans.🤷🏻♂️
couldn't agree with you more.
Just because my watch doesn’t buzz and beep, doesn’t mean it’s not constantly begging for my attention 😂😂
Haha, good point. People are always asking me "do you have to be somewhere?"
Best thing is that it’s actually a band, so it doesn’t give the two watch look.. lol
Thanks for the vid
Great to hear from an insider! If you are an omega fan, maybe a speedy is next?
I have both… it helps be stay away from my phone as I dont have anxiety that I’ll miss out on an important notification … but I still love the look of an analogue watch and the clean sweep of a mechanical watch is to die for but the apple watch seems generic but its a hell lot useful and it helps me stay active … overall I love the look of mechanical watches and I have so many of them to choose from but I love the functionality of an Apple watch how such a small device can do it all .. its even more fascinating than a Smartphone
Humans existed for 100s of thousands of years without having up to the minute updates on everything. Get some therapy
As you get older, features like "fall detection", ability to call for emergency services, and having a phone on your wrist to make a phone call in case of trouble, 24/7 becomes increasingly important, whether walking or driving. So independent cellular is important to some people who don't always have their iPhone.
AW isn't even a watch, its just a gadget. A gadget calling 9-1-1 for no reason too...what a dumb idea.
I just only one reason why i never wear Apple Watch or Samsung Watch: it’s burned my wrist.. 😢😢😢
Totally, anything from seiko, Timex or Hamilton would be a good start 👍.
@@WatchCrunchOfficial already own a tissot and seiko. But both are not mechanical, so gonna save up for something special. Grand seiko or omega ☺️
Didn’t expect a full length explanation like this. Great job 👏
Thanks Colin 😁👍
i agree 100 percent. apple died when Steve did. they haven't done shit since then but sell glued together garbage. and i loved Apple!
Exactly, it's like wearing a worse version of your phone on your wrist 🤷♂️
I have some Casio's G Shock, solar most of them love my G Shock collection. BTW Good video
I was initially going to say your first point really resonates with me but then I watched the rest. Couldn't agree more. Probably my favourite ep you've put out (after the Polerouter). Excellent!
Thanks Bill for your feedback! I feel like I only said things that a lot of us were already thinking. Cheers 👍
Correct✅
you would probably laugh at my watch collection, its not exactly luxury but i love it. my favorite watch is the hamilton field khaki 38 mechanical. it fits my style and there is something beautiful about watching it work. i enjoy your channel keep it up. great production and content
Love the Hamilton field watches, they are the GOAT
Just coming across your video, for almost my whole life I refused to wear anything other than a mechanical watch, I wouldn’t even think of wearing a soulless quartz watch, recently I went out and bought a Apple Watch ultra 2.
The surprising fact about it is it lets me disconnect from my phone and social media and tech in general, my notification are set to family only and since it has cell service I can leave my house for the first time in a decade without my phone but still remain reachable.
Here’s how I use it:
Watch
Music controller
Family messages
Alarm
Fitness
And lastly, I don’t treat or think of it as a mobile device, it’s a almost indestructible watch and that’s how I treat it, like a g shock that can make calls and pay for things.
If you are into smaller watches, you've come to the right channel 😉
Yes I definitely am. And more you are responsible for my interest on the Seiko SARb033 🙂
Obsolescence - Wearing a Series 3, still going strong, mechanical watches need regular servicing
Distractions - Set up Focus/Notifications
History - Jony Ive studied classic watch designs and let them inform the Apple Watch
4&5 aren't arguments in a conventional sense
You're talking about true facts
Ok, but on your point about The Social Dilemma, why not just disable notifications from social media? I’ve been doing that for ages on my iPhone. Getting a lot of email that doesn’t need your attention? Turn off email push notifications. It’s not really a case of all or nothing IMO - there are ways to cut the noise and get genuine time-sensitive notifications on your wrist.
I bought a apple watch, and thought that i would use it for working out, Then i realised that i never got use out of it.
while I agree with all your points, i feel like if someone wants or needs to wear a smart watch for health/fitness reasons, the apple watch is the best, from a design standpoint. because unlike most other smart watches, it doesnt try to look like a watch, it just looks like a tiny iphone on a strap. thats why i dont think of traditional watches and the apple watch as competitors. in fact, ive seen a lot of people wearing a mechanical/quartz watch on one wrist and an apple watch on the other.
Double wrist it, I can see people doing that. Computer on the left and art on the right
Do you or would you wear your smart watch all day just because or just for health and fitness?
@@vincentjack735 i dont wear a smartwatch myself, all im saying is that i can see other peoples valid reasons to wear an apple watch. doesnt have to be just fitness, i can totally see the appeal of being able to answer messages without pulling out your phone
"If you have apple watch, i still love you" that was priceless!!!😂😂
I know I am only 2 years late making my comment but I was wondering, why does it have to be one or the other? Why not wear an Apple Watch at times when you want to just track fitness, run errands etc. etc. and wear the fancy watch on the other days? It could also be changed up for work as well.
Great essay Max. I use my Apple Watch when running … am looking for my first mech watch.
your choices of words are brilliant.
I completely agreed
I am a Rolex fan but I do have an Apple watch as well. My Apple watch is my daily beater and I don't really care if it is all scratched up. But my Rolexes are meant for happy occasions, and I like to keep them pristine. I loved to steal glances at my Rolexes when I wear any of them. But I can't really bother to look at my Apple watch after the novelty wore off.
Hi I am a Newbie Watch Enthusiast. You are Right a Smart Watch Is a So Much Distraction.. It Begs Your Attention Even You are Deep in Your Sleep.
Brilliant video, mate. And exactly my thoughts.. all of them. Couldn't be bothered with since they introduced the bloody square thing. Love all your videos, btw. Cheers
Thanks for stopping by and dropping a thoughtful comment! Appreciate ya
Wow, what a thoughtful comment! I'm a neurologist so, respect. I gotta admit the new AW with the heart rate function is pretty dope.
I killed so many escapements…
Digital it is if you want a tool watch and not a fashion statement.
6) because the most cringe teacher wears one.... (or I don't want to look like a tool)
Very, very well said!
You said you don't hate Apple watches but all you ended up saying in this video shows ur ur hate for apple watches
yup. the title has to be “5reasons why i will buy apple watch and i’m not an ordinary consumer but a huge mechanical watch fan ”
Just started watching your videos (and subscribed haha), love the production quality and more importantly love the watches! Definitely see this channel booming
Welcome aboard! Much appreciated Stephen!
interesting!! found your video after watching the new 2022 apple watch release😆
Oh the phases we go through
Good points
Thanks!
7:22 internsthing, Apple Watch doesn't even support blood sugar monitoring!
I have to agree with you even though I do love my Apple Watch. I almost see it is kind of a toy. I appreciate a truly well-made, mechanical watch as a piece of art.
the other reason is that the smartwatch companies are always tracking you to sell your data
Yeah, maybe when we get something better than lithium ion, I'll take a second look at them.
If only my mechanical watches had GPS and maps that I could make useful in the woods. I enjoy both my Constellation and Seamaster, but having a GPS on my wrist is a game changer.
The whole area of watches is complicated (no pun intended.)
Problem is When you get into collecting - ie. watch addiction - then eventually it is always about getting the next watch.
I agree that an Apple Watch can only really be justified if you are going to use it as a tool.
Mechanical all the way.
Yep, you can say that again!
I subscribed the second you said you will never review a smart watch on this channel👏
sounds more like this guy is trying to sell me some mechanical watch😂
100% with you!
The charging and changing battery is the pain in the ass
Oh, yes! Indeed…
Oh wow. Great content, love your point and the way you speak. Thumbs up
Great vid Max.
Great vid. Thanx.
Thank you 👍
I see something wrong with people who wear Apple Watch
They probably aren't human...a bunch of fkn robots!
I’ve got rid of my Apple Watch and now I’m using traditional watches a.k.a. non-smart watches
I gave mine to my sister because I couldn’t figure out the point of having one
Honestly I still wear my Series 1 Apple Watch
The most high tech thing I ever put on my wrist is an atomic G-Shock. Lately though I’ve been doing a Schwarzkopf - SKX007 on the left, Casio W-59 on the right. And the “tech” in that wonky Casio feels juuuust right.
I recently got a gshock and Im finally starting to "get it" 😆
Excellent! Warning: they can be quite addictive. Especially the Squares. Have fun! Did I hear in one of your videos that you work in a hospital? I’ve read that others in that line of work like the G-Shocks because they’re easy to clean. Cops also like them for that same reason.
The only reason I don’t own an apple watch is because I’m a watch lover and have a lot of watches and I know if I own an apple watch I won’t use all of my watches anymore and for me personally a real watches lover don’t need an apple watch in their life
It’s better to own a traditional old fashion watch instead of using a any smart watch.
