I’m not sure if you were aware or not but the shrimp actually eat their molt. It’s good for them it helps their new shell harden. The shell contains minerals that they need to maintain a hard shell so it would be a good idea to leave their molts in the tank and let them eat it.
J & O he is a glofish beta. So far we haven’t seen any aggressiveness. He’s really energetic and curious. He likes company. He is a sweet boy. ❤️ We named him Mr. Fish lol
I too have a sassy female betta! I added ghost shrimp today and she reacted the same as Jeffa. She was like MOM what the HECK! So far so good. I have a planted tank so I think they should be able to hide and will be happy. My betta Wanda keeps going by them and laying on the gravel by them so I think she likes them ha! I also got a magenta mystery snail who I am surprisingly in love with.
It really depends on the betta and how your tank is set up. My current betta likes to look at and find my shrimp but he doesn’t actually do more than that. I have a few ghost shrimp and a bunch of Neocaridina davidii in with him. Don’t get me wrong, I am sure he is eating the swallow size shrimplettes, but he does not bother anything bigger than that. I had another betta that killed ghost shrimp and a viper shrimp that was bigger than he was, heh
How'd they do long term? About to check your channel for an update. From what I've seen to help their survivability is to heavily plant the tank. Hiding spots seem pretty sparse in your tank. Especially if they breed your betas is going to eat them up. Nonetheless enjoyed the video.
They did pretty good! My betta did not bother them. She got along very well. Sadly you won't see an update on the ghost shrimp as they all have sadly passed:( I had them for only a couple of months.. they just all started dying slowly 🤷🏼♀️ And it definitely wasn't my bettas fault as she really didn't care for them later on
@@homesteadwannabes Ghost shrimp are actually native to brackish water! Meaning water that is a portion salt water and a portion freshwater. I also tried to keep ghost shrimp in my freshwater aquarium and sadly they all died. Only a very small percentage of the shrimp can fully convert to freshwater, and even then they cannot reproduce in those conditions. There is very little information on the internet about this, but I thought I’d share. :)

Yea I thought the same. Until I woke up a little bit ago to a dead shrimp. Got 3 ghosts 2 days ago. As soon as I put them in, my male chased them. He's got to be the culprit was to why one died so far. I'd be curious to know other's experience with GS.
My betta female is attacking the shrimp. They’re getting better at hiding from her so I hope it all goes well. Now I feel bad. I thought it would be a good idea because of the research I did recommending them.
Update: She ate 2 and I found the other cherry hiding after a couple days. It only comes out at night when she’s asleep. I ended up getting 5 ghost shrimp so the cherry wouldn’t be lonely. My betta hasn’t noticed them at all even though one is really big.
That's nice! Well there is alot of good tank mates for a betta! It just depends on how aggressive your betta is and how big your tank is.. how many gallons is your tank?

All these comments talking about they dont know if they should upgrade their bettas to n 5 gal. But when i got my betta i got a lot of (live) plants the best food (expensive) and the best heater and filter because there is something called being prepared and if you dont have that then don't get fish also its a 10 gallon

I have had a beta sorority with 4 females in a 10 WITH 5 guppies min. Granted I lucked out and picked the very calm and docile ones. The 3 main ones would hang out together often the smaller 4th had died (not sure why wasn’t nipped and I’ve seen her eat so it was strange) but those 3 were peas in a pod. In my 5 gal I have a king. (Waiting on the bigger tank to come) but he likes it in the 5 makes HUGE bubble nests and is tank mates with some loaches.

You are totally fine! And it is a really good idea to upgrade him.. I don't know what kind of stories you heard but he will most definitely love the upgrade! As long a the flow isn't strong and the water is heated, filtered etc. And for him not to be stressed just make sure to acclimate him before putting him in the new tank and leave the lights of for a couple hours for him to settle down
1.3 gallons is way to small. Acclimate him properly and do a 5 gal min. At least a 3.5 gallon. Please. I dont think you meant anything but good. But 1.3 gallons is not acceptable for a healthy happy betta

I read you can keep 3-4 per gallon in at least 5 gal so that’s good, personally I have a tank with 5 gal betta, 6 Neon Tretas, and 4 ghost shrimp ! I got lucky and my crowned tail betta is not aggressive, I haven’t seen him attack the shrimp or neons, if you feed your betta betta food I recommend switching to flakes because the ghost shrimp eats what the other fish don’t, this is all my personal experience and results may vary
@@palestar828 yes but it comes with a cost, losts more water changes and I test it every week, everything has been fine and only 1 neon tetra has died and that was one I bought about a year ago full brown at petsmart and who knows how long it’s been there.
@@palestar828 also another thing is low substrate and not big decorations, those are affect the swims swimming room by a lot. Do more research and you’ll find that the inch per gallon is bogus to most fish, I been giving fish for years and by expensive I can tell you for fact that fish don’t need a super big tank, it’s just what is recommended for them to thrive, a single goldfish will do amazing in a 30 gallon but you can always house more but they all won’t thrive, all of mine in my 5 gallon are tho

My betta has been good with my shrimp from what I’ve seen at least, never know what happens when I’m at work. I don’t think I will end up getting another betta to put in with them though, I may end up going with mollies or tetras instead.

The betta fish could eat the shrimp if they want to so it's always a risk you are taking when putting bigger fish with smaller creatures in a tank Betta fish do have sharp teeth and ghost shrimp shells aren't that hard to the betta fish couldn't eat the shrimp

This will not work out how you expected, the axolotls will eat them like french fries They are very cheap and they are often used as feeders for bigger fish so I like to call them fish crickets, they are the underwater equipment of the Crickets that bearded dragons eat You can however breathe your ghost shrimp in a separate tank for the axolotls to be fed I tried feeding two of these shrimp to my Pac-Man frog but they jump really high, worse than crickets

Haven’t had one since I was a kid, but I got this lil white opal male almost 3 months ago when I moved away for my third year of college and I love him so much :) he’s been nipping at his fins we think (white bettas are known for biting their fins more often than others) and so I’m revamping his tank and spending wayyyyy too much money on him haha
The shrimp are very cheap, like the crickets for bearded dragons I even called them fish crickets because of this and they are also used as feeders for fish They would make a great meal for the betta fish

A 10 gallon is great but it is not necessary, a 7.5 or even 5 Gal can be good for a single betta

He could actually die from stress in the 1.35 gallon tank so upgrading him to a 5 gallon or bigger is a great idea.

It's always a gamble! More hiding places the better! But always have another tank ready just in case;)
Think of it as a win win. If the shrimp survive great that’s awesome. If they get eaten it’s also great for the betta!

You can use either, you don't need to mix them. As long as it's a water conditioner you are good

Bettas will eat ghost shrimp
The shrimp are very cheap, like the crickets for bearded dragons I even called them fish crickets because of this and they are also used as feeders for fish
They would make a great meal for the betta fish
Of all dwarf shrimps, ghost/glass shrimps are the dispensable ones since they're very cheap and they breed like crazy.LOL.
