    I'm on my 3rd 224 valkyrie. Started with savage AR 18" tube. It shot sub MOA out of the box. Best group with handloads was a .4. I have a Wilson Combat 22" that I've shot .3 with 85 nosler pushed by 2000MR. I also have a Shaw barreled upper 20" tube that is also half MOA rifle. With the Savage I had 6k rounds down tube and it was still sub MOA Going P Dog shooting in 3 weeks, I'm stoked!! Have had all of the them 1000yrds. No Valkyrie problems EVER with mine!

    I purchased all the components to do a 224 build before I had heard of the 6mm Arc. I was a little bummed out because the 6mm has Superior ballistics and a lot of people are skeptical of the 224 because of it's issues, but this video makes me feel a lot better.

      Yep 224 is better on accuracy and there is alot more ammo verity coming soon
      Don't just comprehend shooting steel get out the targets and the 224 will carry better hands doen.

    This was a great side by side comparison and has pushed me closer to building a 224 Valkyrie bolt gun.

    The ARC velocity seems my more sensitive to barrel length then the Valk. My 24" spits factory match @ 2750. Verified through two chronos. 28.8gr LVR got 107smks running 2760fps and .6moa

    Great fun and a great facility! I am jealous I couldn't be there to come out and shoot with you guys! Very nice video! HCR is the best gun builder in the country and great guys to deal with. Looking forward to shooting my new HCR 280 AI.

    Great video. I have both the 224 Valkyrie and the 6mm ARC In the AR15 platform and also the 6.5 Grendel. We the Grendel is loaded with the same weight or about same weight as the 6mm ARC there is very little to no difference in the ARC & Grendel at 1000'yds using same weight projectile.There is more wind drift with 224 Valkyrie than my 6.5 Grendel.Not much difference in wind drift in 224 Valkyrie and 6mm ARC

    Great comparison and great shooting! I'm shooting the 6ARC at 1k (its a poverty pony). 105 Bergers over LL with Starline brass (about 1500 down the tube, and a LOT more loaded and ready to send). With the Valdada 16x fixed optic zeroed at 600, I can shoot 100 - 1000 no dialing just holds. Haven't tried 1250 yet but its on the attempt list. I won't waste Small Rifle Primers on anything else, I'm sold on this caliber. 223 is dead to me. Press or cry like the rest...

    I love em both with manufacture barrels and d twist rate going to coustom length and twist barrels for both. And the are gas guns and can hold tight groups in a ten round completion. Thanks for shorting up my confidence.

    I did pick lol I bought a barrel from Ballistic Advantage in 6Arc I love it . I went with a 24” barrel I think I’m going to look at another barrel 18-20” . I also like the idea of necking down the 6mm Arc brass to .224 I think it will be better than the Valkyrie

    It would be interesting to compare both handloaded, as they are loaded way down from the factory

  • @texpatriot8462
    @texpatriot8462 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That Hornady Factory ammo in 6 ARC is designed to be gas gun safe. If you use their “Bolt Gun” hand load data, how does much difference do you see?

    • @SCQT
      @SCQT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure if this helps you, but out of a 26" bolt gun 108eldm with 30gn of CFE223 you are looking at ~2830fps. You could bump that powder up a bit as well, 30.6gn will put you around 2900.
      Not my data, but it is reliable.
      Definitely a cartridge that deserves to be handloaded

    • @texpatriot8462
      @texpatriot8462 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SCQT I have a gas gun and really love it. If I didn’t already own a 243, I would buy a bolt gun and load it up to “bolt gun” levels. I bet it would be very accurate.

  • @500spectre

    Why bolt guns for the comparison? I thought the big advantage for both these cartridges was the AR platform? When compared to the other bolt options in this range ( 22-250, 6mm gt, 6mm br., etc...) they are not that special.

      I also have a 224 in an AR15. Been a pain to get set up. From over gassing issues, brass ejecting at 1oclock, its really "jumpy". Unfortunately, no one around here has experience with it to help me.
      Dont get me wrong, I love shooting it, but thinking about the 6 ARC as well.

      @@captainamer71 the upper is from PSA, 20" 1/6.5 twist.
      I have the gas port adjusted down as low as I can for it to still cycle properly. Using an Armaspec H3 buffer assembly and Ultradyne comp to help with it being so "jumpy"
      Even reload my on rounds and had to back off on the charge to keep it controllable.

      @@rusalka6880 I had a PSA upper also in 224 I got rid of it and warned the guy who purchased it from me
      It was junk. I have read others claim how wonderful theirs were but I am curious if they ever shoot them past 25 yards as I see guys do all the time at our range that will from 25-200 and they shoot rifles at 25 yards for groups

    The Gun industry needs to start making 6mm ARC AR15s in 16 and 18 in barrels to get it mainstream. Seems like the best Caliber so far for an AR platform

    • @oif3vetk9
      @oif3vetk9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's already plenty of offerings of 6 ARC in the shorter barrels it's just a question of availability. It took me almost a year to get a complete upper. I didn't want a short barrel though, I wanted minimum 20". Ended up stumbling across a 24" heavy barrel version made by aeroprecision. Very glad I found it.

    These are great for semi auto gas guns,
    But for bolt action, I'm surprised you don't choose 220 swift or 243AI/6mm Creedmoor instead
