Frankly what I think they should do to get over the hassles of trying to bring these big stars back to reprise the roles is recast Next Gen chars in the Kelvin universe to see how far things have diverged from the series timeline... If not that then they could also revisit the TOS episode " A piece of the action " in that timeline or see what the mirror universe turned out like there.... or even introduce the borg there somehow LOL
If after the first movie they went their own way instead of wasting a movie on reintroducing Kahn with Into Darkness and whatever Beyond was supposed to accomplish, they might have stood a better chance creating a more interesting and successful franchise.

I just hope they don't destroy the enterprise AGAIN. These movies kinda frustrate me because one of the heroes is the damn ship and every time the go-to seems to be making it weak and its destruction. One of the reasons the movies are so-so in my opinion.
It won't happen we already have strange new worlds with most of the original characters cast in that show. Also there bringing out starfleet academy and the new crap Section 31 film coming out soon so it's pointless even thinking where going to get a new trek film with pine along with the other crew. There's no script for it and it will be at least 2 to 3 years before its made ready to come out its too little too late and on top of that the cast are now more famous and cost more money for them to do another film. Plus they're getting older now and the film will only be a flop as it won't make much money back so its best left alone and forget about it as all 3 films wasn't all that good or big hits because it wasn't star trek enough and the only new trek reboot that feels and look like star trek is strange new worlds. Be better of making that as a new film down the line would be cheaper as you already have all the cast that won't cost so much money and you have the sets of the new enterprise and would more likely to make more money out of that film than doing one with pine it won't cost as much either it's a win win
