- -Welcome to the Sleep Ranch! We are located in the Northern Black Hills on the South Dakota/ Wyoming border where our ancestors settled and started ranching in 1883.
I (Carson) work alongside my parents, Jeff and Jodi, our ranch hand, Jaques, my wife, Damaris who also works as a nurse in town, and our son Silas! We have friends and family who come along very frequently as well!
We run a cow/calf operation where we summer our cattle on the Black Hills National Forest and winter them in the foothills of the Black Hills. We also have a backgrounding feedlot, and grow alfalfa and grass hay.

Great video's Carson. I enjoy the beauty of landscape
Some of those girls are hard headed. Lol thanks for sharing.
Those are some damn fine looking calves !!
Some really nice looking beef cattle.
2:13 Good working weather.
Ur new horse is working well
thanks for sharing.. cows and calve are in nice shape.. love the country
i had a job on a ranch in Kaycee, WY where we'd run 1500 head up on our lease in the Bighorns in late may/early June and I got to spend the entire summer up there in my little shack with a string of half broke horses then run em down in late August. Gathering in thick steep lodgepole pine was a real test of horse and man. Best job I ever had
The only thing you guys are lacking is a warming fire and a pot of coffee! Awesome video Carson!
Stay warm my friend. We have 24 degrees in East Tennessee this morning.
The babies are huge and just gorgious. ❤
You needed Angus up on the side of mountain to get those ladies down... Always love round up time.. Winston seem good at his job and he's vocal like Trump, love it! Thanks for sharing Carson...❤✌🙏
Love seeing the wide open spaces and the animals…truly a relaxing watch👍🏼🙏🏼
Looking pretty chilly up there cowboy.😁
What a glorious crispy cold morning for a ride. Love those frost days that always clear to a beaurday. Aaaaahhhh the memories if a life long ago. Another lifetime ago at 21 when i knew it all LOL At 70 I pay the price for my arrogance and no it all attitude, but what a ride it's been. Thankfully i met the Lord along the way and He changed my life to something else again. Oh that I'd met Him sooner and had linger to love and serve Him and kead many more to know Him. Your frosty morning reminds me of Him as our great Creator of such masterpieces of the outback. I trust you and your wife & son into His care ,praying for health and wholeness esp thru the pregnancy . Peace be with you and your extended family Carson. 🇦🇺🤗💞🙏👌👍✌️👊👏🇺🇸
Must be just before the first snow!
💕💕💕💕love the working together to get things done
Enjoyed watching the video 😊
The bawling brings back memories of when we weaned or worked the cattle. The cycle of the ranch.
Thanks for sharing your Frosty morning cattle drive. Keep safe and have a great Thanksgiving! Blessings.
Thanks again for taking me along for the ride!❤
Beautiful 💕
Nice to see when things go well! Beautiful country!!! Take care my friend 😊
Good morning from Syracuse NY a snowy Syracuse NY everyone
New to your channel…it is so moooving 🐄🐄🐄🐄😂😊
Always enjoyable watching you work cattle on horseback.
Another beautiful fall day with herd accounted for.
Can't believe it's already weaning time. This year has flown by.
With that many calves & moms imagine there’s lots of bellowing with being separated. Moo 🐮 ❤
Those cows have a mind of their own. Looks cold. We had our first snow last night. Kind of looks nice this morning.
Hugs for Damaris and Silas
Happy November my friend! You made all of us cattle folks proud loading the calves up. Doesn't look like anybody got the snot kicked out of them, pooped on or run over because a calf got a wild hair! Lol! Herding calves really is like herding ants but looks like it all went smoothly for you. Good! Hugs and blessings to all the family. Hope your sweet wife is still feeling well and doing great.
Great looking bunch of calves! Looks like no shortage of grass this year.
THANKS!
You needed your dog for the cows up on the hill that didn't want to go
I noticed that not very many wanted to shake hands with you guys Enjoy your family and videos so much.
Hey Carson just want to say enjoy watching videos starting from beginning took a few weeks to catch up reminds me of younger days going to my Stepdads family ranch loved it always had a blast out there missing with the bulls a couple times had too climb a tree then get down and do it all over again lol. Have a great weekend
IDK, I thought you were planning on assist from dogs and that you even bought one for that purpose. I am guessing that I missed something as I watch this. Good luck to you always and happy you found what you were looking for.
Nice frosty morning for ya's to round up the rest of the cows you needed Angus to help ya herd those cows also had a frosty morning here in Pa stay safe & warm.
Nice looking cavles! Cows look in good shape as well!
Great looking calves and they’ll “thank you later” 😂
Good to see you. Hope you and your family are all doing well.❤
Your cats looks so so good.
Great looking calves. In Canada I have seen calves like that sell for$1600 to 2000 this fall, depending on weight! Hope you get good price for yours.
Hi
I wondered if there was a cow up the hill is why she kept wanting to go back. Fun watching the round ups. I remember working on a cattle feed lot ranch her in Iowa giving shots like that. Usually when we would get calves in the fall from Montana Ranches. Give shots off the truck. Thanks for sharing.
Great video loved it
So interesting to this old city girl! Do the cows learn as they do this year after year? How smart are they? 😊
Sure a nice set of calves!
Hey carson! I know you guys are handy, but I’d be happy to fab a portable (yours) cattle ramp on wheels that guy could leave up/pull up to to rocheford for a really low labor cost, just material… let me know! Free delivery
3:40 She's auditioning for 'old broad' status 😁
Great looking bunch of calves! What do you expect weaning weights to be?
Enjoyed the video. Did you get all of them? 👍❤️🇨🇦
I wish I could be comfortable to be around a horse like that. My sister had a horse growing up and I think it was Halloween and I saw a couple of people standing by the horse. I can't remember I must have yelled at them and they left so I went to check on the horse and I was just standing beside it. It kicked me hard. It immediately went numb and the numbness started to come up my leg and my hip started getting numb. The numbness came up to my waist. I had no idea if my leg was broke so I put my hand down to feel if it was, it wasn't. So I walked home. I just can't be very comfortable around them now.
Enjoyed the video very much, noticed that Trump was not present, hope his eye is better.Keep up good job.
Little frosty this morning, it's frosty here in Oklahoma too.
What were you doing with the hand held gun looking thing giving shots to the calf’s if so what do calf’s need thanks
Has Jacque said anything about the Boks winning the Rugby World Cup? Love the videos - expat Chemistry teacher from SA teaching in Muscat, Oman.
I thought you were using a Sonne Frames sloppy for a moment
Great video of bringing the cows and calves home for winter. Glad that you got the majority of the cows home before the snow hits. Seems weird seeing you riding Winston instead of Trump. Hopefully they can help Trump to have a few more years on the ranch.
I thought it was supposed to be muddy when working calves.
What do you fellows call the leather leg protection you are wearing?
Where in the world id Angus?..
I don’t see brands on your cows,do you not use them? If not, how do you tell which are your cows when on the leased grazing lands?😊
They have eartags.
Great question! They are all branded! It’s just hard to see on camera but we are required to brand them!
I just can't get over how vocal in the cattle are I have been around cattle all my life my son-in-law milked cows and his heifers were married vocal my son feeds steers that mostly come from Virginia and they don't make a sound even when you think they should.
I notice you guys use slappies and the truck drivers use cattle prong. Is there any special reason for the difference in preference?
Carson the herd looks great after a summer in the high pastures. The steers headed to the feed lot fat & sassy. Hopefully there will be a good $$ payoff.
Loved the scenery as usual. Only thing missing for me is the smell and the squishing of my boots in the loading chute😅😅.
Y’all have a blessed weekend…..
How are the wife and baby and how’s Trump doing? How is Angus doing?
Austrailian cattle whip for brining them in, hard to use with a camera too. ............... we just took two grandkids out of Cornell University,,,,,,, dangerous place........ they are done, going to take online courses and ranch for a living. God Bless.............. where is Angus
I bet you get kicked a lot, standing back off those calves
Trump must be tired.
