It isn't, actually. We slowed the footage there for video pacing, so that's the "lag" you're seeing. Sorry for the confusing edit choice, but we were working with limited footage on this one. ^MF
The software update for the z10, z30, and q10 is amazing. Now they are able to run any android app, so there is a lot more to choose from. It also has some other little, but major, updates to it that make the blackberry just so much better. Totally going with the z10.
will u believe that i switched from iPhone to BB and now i m so much angry on my self :( not because i made a wrong decision but because y i got so late switching to BB Z10. Definitely Z10 no ore droid or iPhone :)
*i see it great. it is declining sharp price here: ##**amzn.to/1lhl1ip** . only $201.00 free shipping at home for you. I had been using this phone for over a month now since it came out in Canada and all I can say is WOW!*
Glad to hear. My Galaxy Ace died after two years so I bought a Z10. In the beginning I regret the purchase. But over time I began to appreciate the benefits. A negative point : the camera of the Galaxy was better. If you guys can help me with this ( feel free) . Grtz
i have used an android ios and a windows phone... now currently using this blackberry z10.. simply loving it... bought with a lot of hesitation... but now really enjoying it... battery life is good camera is good... touch is fantastic... awesome ui not a bloatware like samsung.... audio quality is superb... i have dropped the phone a lot of times but still it is really good... love it.. :D :D :D... in future if i buy it will definitely be a blackberry... the best part being the hub.. gets all what i wanted in one area.... my facebook, whats app, twitter, gmail... and of course the multi tasking in it.. absolutely a brilliant phone...
Well i have been using Android for the past 5 years ,i must say i am glad i switched to BB Z10, for people still thinking about BB ,i say go fr it,it is the smartest phone hands down,n unique features which even i was not aware off!!!...it has android apps too wats app, viber evrything...u r not gonna use 1000 apps anyways,,,d idea is to be efficient and it has a HUB feature where u can reply anything without opening the app, plus other many features like pressing anywhr in the screen to take a pic,and awesome texting experience than any other android devices,,,HTc is awesome too but jus too mainstream phone like any other android device,,if u wanna have a bigger display then go fr htc,,,bb is for advanced users.
hello steven ..trust me d keyboard n prediction feature are amazing...so smooth,,,plus for example if u type "W",,,u can see words poppin out like what where when and then u can jus slide them up ,,u dont even have to type sometimes,,,d speed is very impressive coz it is backed by 2 GB RAM jus like note 2 samsung...no nver laggs...my fren has same phone for 2 years,,,no complaints......its a far superior phone if u compare to htc one V
I'm Switching from Android to blackberry for reliability. I've had 2 HTC one Xs, 3 galaxy s3s, 3 Sony xperia ts amongst others in the last 16 months and they have all crashed or frozen. One s3 lasted 2 days. Alot of comments about it being a better os obviously don't apply to android because what's the point of all those apps and games if it don't run. And talking about build quality as an issue between these 2 phones is a joke, the review is heavily biased towards android, name an android phone that can compare build quality to the HTC one. Maybe a review with an equal bb10 based phone like the z30 would be a different story. The app gap has been closed with the addition of android compatability but the reliability of blackberry make this a very appealing option. Don't misunderstand tho, it's not supported by Google yet, so don't credit them with "helping". There is no official play store.
Cheers Jacob I actually have the z10 now and it's pretty awesome. O and bibing I would concede to your well rounded and convincing argument but instead I've decided your a moron. It's called a guarantee, I only bought one phone, the rest were replacements. They didn't last long enough to have to buy another.
U r a Trek fan?! YEEEEEESSS! Anyways so I've always very much used BlackBerry phones. I've also used Samsung and Nokia phones too. However BlackBerry still remains the best in ease of usage and durability. ...to a point -ive murdered over a thousand different phones over a few years. Following this video...I'm tempted to try out my first HTC phone however I must stress technology has always confused me somewhat. Terms like android, WiFi etc...drives me up the hill! Great kinda informative video by the way! Thumbs up.
I must say this was a very impartial and thorough comparative video. One of the best I have seen. Excellent job. I have a z10 and it gets better everyday. This is a first generation phone and if you compare to any other first generation it is the best because it is running with the so called big guns.
Excellent stuff as always. How would you say the One's battery life compares to the HTC One X on day-to-day use? I'm thinking about upgrading next month but I would like just a little bit more juice.
This was a great review, I have both a Note 2 and Z10...often times I contemplate selling or trading my Z10 but I really don't want to miss out on the opportunity to watch a new OS grow. BlackBerry 10 really is a wonderful OS and once it matures it is sure to compete with Android and iOS. QNX is not something to underestimate. I hope BlackBerry all the best!
The BlackBerry Z10 is my choice. I have every important app to me in my Z10; instagram, Pandora, Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, eBay etc. Some of them are not native but side loaded android apps and they work perfectly (that's what matters). Although the HTC One looks like a great phone, I usually cover all my phones so the outside material doesn't really matter to me. Thank you for another outstanding video, great job!
Great video as always Michael, much respect. Also, how do you style your hair like that? what do you use? random I know, but I wish I could get my hair styled like yours, lol. :P
I love PocketNow's comparisons. They actually provide detailed information to help consumers make an educated purchase rather than stirring up a flame war among its viewer base in a lame attempt at gaining more views. See how he didn't declare a winner and piss on obvious great features of either product? That's because this is journalism, not shameless attention whoring.
The Blackberry Z10 is a device you can depend on. Its a phone that does productivity really well. iPhone and Android are good OSes but they're not as productive as the BB10 OS. The multitasking on the Z10 is better, faster and smoother. The battery life on the Z10 isn't all that bad as for me it lasts for about 11-12hrs. I had the iPhone 5 and a Samsung S3 then a Z10. The Z10, at least for me, was the better phone overall. Its not all about hardware superiority, it's about how efficient the OS is in using the hardware provided to avoid unnecessary RAM usage which then causes unnecessary battery drain. The BB10 OS is just way more efficient than the other 2 OSes that I have used.
I miss my htc 1 4 the front facing speaker's n the sound ( my s7 edge suck's in that departmend ). my wife had the z10 @ the same time, so I was able 2 play with both phone's . the z10 has it's advantage's. i just wish, bb would had used android from day 1. the z10 would have been an awsome phone.
I switched from an Iphone 4S to BlackBerry Z10 through AT&T and loving the Z10 every minute. It is so convenience of HUB, PEEK, Flow. I don't have to launch any apps to response to email, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Just reply from the HUB. Apps is nothing I have an Iphone from 3s to 4s, I have installed no apps beside Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Typing with the BlackBerry Z10 even more easy, just swipe the word up and it is also auto correct. Video chat share screen is the best.
Loved this review, honest and all. I also really like my Z10, I have yet to find someone in real life that has actually used the phone and didn't like it. Granted, it isn't for everyone, it is a huge step up from the Galaxy S 3. Especially with the camera improvements and other small tweaks available in the leaked BBOS 10.1 update that will be official in a couple weeks
This is a great leap for Blackberry. I have used the Z10 for 2 weeks and found myself missing some of the apps that I was used to on the android device. The gestures are great once you get used to them. I can say nothing bad about the phone other than the lack of apps that I like to use. I have switched back to my android jellybean OS which just works better for me.
Mike please tell me where I can get the wallpaper on the HTC One.

The screen on the HTC One is simply gorgeous, I became very sure about that with this video and I'm a super amoled plus user..My next smartphone is definitely gonna be HTC One instead of S4 :)
michael is the best reviewer of pocketnow (no offence to the others, youre great). he has such a listenable voice and he uses rather clever lines especially in the end
Miss the old HTC blink feed and their UI. Shame that their devices never sold well enough for them to keep their Markey share. Don't know why this is being recommended to me in 2022 but aluminum frame devices need to come back.
i have a z10 and it fell to the ground and made a tiny scratch on its body and noticed something on it. someone on you guys with z10 noticed that it has a unibody construction except to the back cover? believe me guys it has.
I have em both :P texting experience is quite a bit handy on Z10 .. kinda like the hub.. though I like the quick peak on HTC too.. multi tasking I think Z10 is efficient .. battery ya' one has longer life but I agree on replaceable.. opening the mobile while on standby mode z10 is good cause I just have to swipe it up yet on HTC I have to press the tiny flat button on top..
Thats ok. To each his own. For clarification: BB10 is the same plan as any smartphone. No special plan for services. BBM will be cross-platform by this summer. Since it still is one of the best secure messaging systems than yes 60-90% may switch to BBM on their Androids or iPhones.Latest news is that all 700,000 Android apps will be ported over to BB soon. But I think it will be a wait and see approach on that front. :)
Who cares what HTC one has... It's just specs. Z10 has the best software end of story...Z10 WINS! and best Keyboard, Hub, multitasking, active frames, time shift, etc
Are you a kid playing with apps, or an adult with a job and responsiblities. That's the main difference.Between the two, I'd take the HTC for personal use and leisure time, but for work, I'd take the Z10 and BES server any day of the week.
Despite the listed features, they still can't sell their phones more than third class Android manufactures like LG and ZTE. Why? The fundamental thing is that the line between business and consumer smartphone market is getting blurred. Mobile Device Management and VPN on devices make any device pretty secure enough for business clients.
i saw in another review for the htc one that it has the same predicting word flick text but by default its not checked mark on you have to enable it via keyboard setting :)
The Z10 is a great device no doubt, but the HTC One is a monster, perfect combination of Built Quality and Performance, a Must-Have definitely. BB 10 is already the newest and best so far from Blackberry but Android is about to launch Android 5.0 that has huge potential.
This review made me feel better lol, I have the s4 and just recently bought the htc one just for its design and quality, however I still find it silly to have 2 android phones, maybe I should have bought the z10 to get the best of both worlds... Oh well :-/
I think Blackberry has done a pretty good job with the Z10, even though it does not run Android. And i think that if the brand would be like Samsung or HTC, then more people would have/will bought/buy the Z10.
Z10 or Q10 simply doesnt do much for me, except for the BBM and emails but those things are way in the past..i could do chat messaging with line chat or fb messenger which surprisingly so good after their lastest update. Why would you want to pay monthly for the BBM service ? unless all your business associates were 60-90% on bbm or else it's just a waste of money for those monthly fees.
Specs aside, it seems almost everybody who's interested in the HTC One, are choosing it over the styling primarily. In this rare case the phone also has the specs to match its looks. All we need is apple to launch a "clear" phone or samsung to release the flex screen for people to jump bandwagons. At the end of the day if it makes calls and sends txts im interested. Everything else is secondary.
you can slide load almost all of the androids apps onto a blackberry vary simply. you just have to plug it into your computer and copy the bar file on to it.
Why? It wasn't meant to be a joke. People genuinely wouldn't care as much about having a little scuff on the plastic back (which you can replace) vs a large dent on an aluminum surface. Personally, I had my mind set on the HTC One, but the more I've seen of it, the more I'm reminded that it isn't all that different from my Nexus 4. I'm seriously considering the Z10 now that it's out on Tmobile...
I'm pissed off with my brand new HTC One. It always fails to do a system software update because it thinks my phone is running a modified version of the system software but it's brand new and it's running the original Sense 5! Wtf?
I have the HTC One. I like the idea of the BB10 software, and I did once own a BlackBerry, but the software looks fiddly and difficult, and I think BlackBerry (once RIM) have strayed too far from their comfort zone. Personal opinion, though.
Those app moaners are funny. BB 10.2 has android 4.2 runtime and 10.3 has 4.3, meanwhile your cheap androids probably got abandoned at 4.1 or even 4.0.
Now these 2 smartphones were released around the same time. However, it is obvious that the HTC one is better than the BlackBerry Z10. But something you have take into account is the price of each device. After the Z10's price cut here in Switzerland, it is a full 200 swiss francs cheaper that the HTC one. Therefore if you don't need OP speed and resolution. And don't use every social media known to mankind, then the BlackBerry is good for you.
They is no such thing as a biz phone. In the old days, companies gave out these b/c BB were only phones that were truly capable of handling e-mail and messaging. Back then most people carried Nokia, Samsung, and Sony flip phones. After iphone's advent, everything has changed. Consumers are more interested in getting the latest high tech smartphones than company executives. Many of my colleagues have alreadly ditched this brand for Apple and Android.
phone sales are affected by demand; Demand created by brand recognition, user reception and features. If people don't find the features attractive they just won't buy it and that's perfectly fine. Not every phone fits everyone's needs. Also all phones can be broken into, its just a matter of how difficult it is. Phones also hold critical workplace information on their internal memories independent of VPN that could be compromised. Also balance enables you to use 1 phone with 2 profiles
Like I said, when it comes to units sold its based on attractiveness of features. I don't think you can pinpoint why a government body would choose to use X phone. The term 'governments' is really not specific at all. I have no knowledge about their operations but I can assure you they have tech support/ repair contracts with manufacturers and a cost ceiling. On the topic of reports and schematics, a simple spreadsheet holding company sales records can be considered classified data.
bb still masters encryption. the q10 has the hardware keyboard and the z10 has the undisputed best touch screen keyboard on the market, if your in business, that's a business phone.
I've watched about 50 vids and ultimately sided with the HTC One. So far, so good. HTC is the underdog, but I don't think that will be for long. The One is superb
It isn't, actually. We slowed the footage there for video pacing, so that's the "lag" you're seeing. Sorry for the confusing edit choice, but we were working with limited footage on this one. ^MF

Great quality video. Really appreciate the efforts you guys make to have good sound and video quality. Especially when viewed on an HTC one!

Well stop watching porn on your phones
haha. well if they cant do that, what use are they. lol
Dude get z10 I'm using it right now so far I've had it for 6months and it's still incredible
.
I really liked the comparison at the end between the companies. Good vid
Michael, I love how you end your videos with those great little speeches. Great comparison.
Definitely one of the best comparisons I have ever watched.
Kudos.
Excellent review....HTC one takes this battle in just about every category.
Found you
U r a Trek fan?!
The Blackberry Z10 has Pandora but it is now called Apolla on the Z10.. I tried the HTC one keyboard and it is far behind what the Z10 has
Michael, you're the only one from Pocketnow that I follow.
I'm getting the HTC One!
Excellent stuff as always. How would you say the One's battery life compares to the HTC One X on day-to-day use? I'm thinking about upgrading next month but I would like just a little bit more juice.
z10 still the best. sad to say its underated because people focuses too much on apps and not the entire functionality.
This was a great review, I have both a Note 2 and Z10...often times I contemplate selling or trading my Z10 but I really don't want to miss out on the opportunity to watch a new OS grow. What I loved was how there were multiple times during this review when the reviewer tried to use a Blackberry Flow gesture on the HTC One. 'Nuff said.
2 most beautiful phones in market but HTC ONE is The ONE!!!!
Great video as always Michael, much respect. Also, how do you style your hair like that? what do you use? random I know, but I wish I could get my hair styled like yours, lol. :P
I love PocketNow's comparisons. honestly it took me no more then 2 days to get use to the blackberry z10 and i think they way it works is amazing
very nicely put. i liked the closing remarks...
I miss my htc 1 4 the front facing speaker's n the sound ( my s7 edge suck's in that departmend ). my wife had the z10 @ the same time, so I was able 2 play with both phone's . the z10 has it's advantage's. i just wish, bb would had used android from day 1. the z10 would have been an awsome phone.
really great review. thanks for being objective and not biased. thats what i want to see. subscribed ;)
There's a striking similarity, definitely.
Really nice review, love the format and style. HTC One seems like it would fit more needs, but Z10 isn't bad.
I switched from an Iphone 4S to BlackBerry Z10 through AT&T and loving the Z10 every minute. It is so convenience of HUB, PEEK, Flow. i'm on sprint and i don't have a simcard, But if i upgrade to the htc one what do i put in the simcard slot !
what phone did you had before the Z10
Been using the blackberry for a past few weeks..... its a work of art... takes a while to learn but its probably the quickest phone around :)
The Z10 is only on Verizon? I went to AT&T to get a phone and the lady who had helped us had a Z10 that she let me take a look at.
what is that start trek App you used????? Please tell
App support is EVERYTHING when choosing between OS' IMO.
From what I think, the Blackberry is designed for productivity, which puts it in the same category as most Windows 8 devices.
Make sure if you're a z10 user you turn off location services, it drains your battery at least 5 times as fast as it normally does
Now this.. was a well written review. Kudos
im not sure which phone to get out of htc one, iphone or nokia lumia please help
i have a z10 and it fell to the ground and made a tiny scratch on its body and noticed something on it. someone on you guys with z10 noticed that it has a unibody construction except to the back cover? believe me guys it has.

You should've said: "We're gonna be putting one of the best of Android up against the one BlackBerry 10."
Are you a kid playing with apps, or an adult with a job and responsiblities. That's the main difference.Between the two, I'd take the HTC for personal use and leisure time, but for work, I'd take the Z10 and BES server any day of the week.
sooooo... did you decided who copied who for the front part of the phone?
Waiting for the Phablet Blackberry coming out in the fall! beautiful U.I
Thanks for the review. Its time for a new phone. I am on the fence about the two. One thing I am sure of is no I phone!
Under the cover it has a quad-core processor, 2gb of RAM, the latest version of Android and a brand new HTC Sense
so blackberry and htc have nothing to do with the blackberry z10 and the htc one?
Despite the listed features, they still can't sell their phones more than third class Android manufactures like LG and ZTE. Why?
Is it just me or did this video make you feel like being a better person. the music.
Can you share the Wallpaper on thr HT HTC One
You are an awesome mobile reviewer. Both if these look like good phones.
I'm pissed off with my brand new HTC One. It always fails to do a system software update because it thinks my phone is running a modified version of the system software but it's brand new and it's running the original Sense 5! Wtf?
You don't have to use the 'lock' button to unlock the One, just swipe from anywhere.
super duper like.
best comparison ever seen...
what can i say
totally mature , professional..
I have the HTC One. I like the idea of the BB10 software, and I did once own a BlackBerry, but the software looks fiddly and difficult, and I think BlackBerry (once RIM) have strayed too far from their comfort zone. Personal opinion, though.
sir which one to buy bb z10 or htc one???
+Mayukh Das Fatal Error system:D
Those app moaners are funny. BB 10.2 has android 4.2 runtime and 10.3 has 4.3, meanwhile your cheap androids probably got abandoned at 4.1 or even 4.0.
Poor fanboy. Where's your Blackberry now?
Now these 2 smartphones were released around the same time. However, it is obvious that the HTC one is better than the BlackBerry Z10. But something you have take into account is the price of each device. After the Z10's price cut here in Switzerland, it is a full 200 swiss francs cheaper that the HTC one. Therefore if you don't need OP speed and resolution. And don't use every social media known to mankind, then the BlackBerry is good for you.
he changed his iconic hair style!!
Good and fair comparison, thanks for this video!
HTC ONE = The result of the night that the BB z10 and the Apple iPhone 5 got drunk together...
Nice review. Lacking in some areas but still a good review non the less
phone sales are affected by demand; Demand created by brand recognition, user reception and features. If people don't find the features attractive they just won't buy it and that's perfectly fine. Not every phone fits everyone's needs. Also all phones can be broken into, its just a matter of how difficult it is. Phones also hold critical workplace information on their internal memories independent of VPN that could be compromised. Also balance enables you to use 1 phone with 2 profiles
holy shit the front design of the HTC One is almost identical to the Z10.... Great job HTC -_-
can those of you that have a blackberry explain to me why you love it so much? i kinda want one but idk i like the htc
On the topic of reports and schematics, a simple spreadsheet holding company sales records can be considered classified data.
coming from a android guy i gotta say im loving my z10 not missing my nexus4 one bit!
This might seem weird but i quite like the look of the z10
I really like the keyboard in z10. though i'd still go with HTC one where I can install swype or google keyboard... Both are awesome.
bb still masters encryption. the q10 has the hardware keyboard and the z10 has the undisputed best touch screen keyboard on the market, if your in business, that's a business phone.
I've watched about 50 vids and ultimately sided with the HTC One. So far, so good. HTC is the underdog, but I don't think that will be for long. The One is superb
The joke was atrocious indeed, but I simply cannot stay mad at Mr. Fisher. That said, those two devices really do look really similar at first glance.
