Dark night of the soul is a part of spiritual awakening, also called spiritual depression. I had my dark night of the soul and it was the most painful experience of my life, even major setbacks and loss was nothing in front of it. I went through it completely alone, living in a foreign country on my own, not a single person around who I could talk to. I became suicidal. Having everything, still I felt completely homeless, lost, lonely, disconnected, I didn't know who I was anymore. I belonged nowhere. I felt completely invisible, and I felt extremely sad or numb. I cried a lot. I also became self-destructive to feel less numb. I longed for a home/place in the universe. But when this started to get over, I felt like a rebirth happened, I became a different person, my choices changed, I couldn't connect with anything old. Thankfully, I found my way back to my family with time. The only way to survive it is to surrender to the universe, surrender your ego.

I went through something similar last year dunno if it's dark night of the soul but it was back to how things used to be after a while just even the family ignored my existence at that time... I had my arm almost slit after 1/2hours of lying with the aftermath after I woke up..I went all alone to the hospital and got stuff done..Honestly I went in a trance like state that time... tbh I've been through situations before too but would never actually attempt suicide you know... I felt like... something possesed that left me after seeing blood.. But there's nobody or nothing similar to explain this..

Never have I thought that I would ever be depressed in my life. I was a bright happy go lucky boy but destiny had other plans for me and I have been now depressed for almost a decade, yes 10 Fkng years'. The initial phase was very dark and my suicidal thoughts were powerful. You remain isolated in your room, you stop working, you push away friends and help to come your way and your family has a hard time watching you slowly giving up on life, you either end up taking your own life or transform into a ZOMBIE like me...DEPRESSION IS NO JOKE...EACH DAY IS A FIGHT...

Damn Ranveer, no matter how much people troll you (including me and I admit this), your podcasts actually help me a lot. Take this video for example. This video of just 12mins changed my perception of not just about depression but actually of a lot of other things. Thanks a lot for bringing people like Luke Coutinho in your podcasts who can understand people's mind so well. I'm a teenager and as a teenager, I've countless problems(the problems which most teenagers face) but I'm really happy to say that I genuinely learn a lot from your channel. The insights of these people help me a lot to understand things about myself which I've not thought of until now. Once again, thanks a lot Ranveer for doing these podcasts and I hope your channel grows more so that more people can take these insights and learn from them 🙏

This is so insightful. Thank you. Crying is a cathartic experience leading to relief from distress, has deep roots. Crying is a self soothing behaviour. Some people feel numb when someone dies, and feel intense grief much later. We all find our own way of coping with the feelings that surround death.

Thanks a lot from this valuable conversation.....I hit my rock bottom in dec 2022, facing repeated setbacks and found myself alone in the darkness, faced seven years of serve depression and anxiety disorder from 2016 to 2022. I always believe that there us sb left to be said. I suppressed my adverse feeling bcz of social stigma. But from Jan 2023 I decided to prioritise my mental health and started medication and meditation. Now m on a better pace, more spiritual and filtered than my old version. Now I realised all it's happened to make me emotionally strong. I always believe in such deep conversations from persons who speak from soul. Crying really works when nothing help. It immediately shift ur mood from grief to a feeling of lightness n freshness. We forget abt this amazing physiological reaction of our body.

One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands alot..it gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip. The main reason for the trip was my severe Depression and it definitely helped me. well at some point in our lives, we go through dark phase of life where you hit the Rock bottom, it may differ for individuals but it's true that i have had in my late 20s, some may be calling it mid age crisis- but yes you are not ok with whatever is already going on in your life, you don't need that favourite person, nor the favourite food, neither the money or that material stuff, people around you -- i guess its more about your inner self start asking you questions its awakening of inner voice inside you which probably have been in hibernation, this journey has to be done all alone, you suffer, you are in pain, you have to do your part and there is no shortcut, after myself being in that situation for almost 2 years i discovered new me with new perspective of my lives and honestly I don't miss my teen days anymore but embracing the new changes, every self aware person will go through this and the pain, suffering is worth going through as in the end of the tunnel new you is waiting ❤

We cannot judge anyone because our judgments are made on our own perceptions and not facts. Thats what everyone in our society needs to learn right now. Stop judging and be kind to everyone. We know just the tip on iceberg when it comes to anyones life.

Who says you can't cry during Vipassana? 😅
People don't go back to it because of the reason he explained. They go back because they understand it is "THE" best practice.
It is the best thing you can do for your mental health. Even physical health can improve if you do it the right way.

Never thought this way before.Currently i'm not in depression but have a lots of negative thoughts and the presure that i have to be productive alll the time . beacuse of this i had insomia for 3 months and sometimes happens but i learned to overcome from that dark phase it took a lot of things i'm being more discipline, kind to others . I feel like I can mention Joe Rogan and Ranveer in the same breath... Which is soooo freaking insane tbh coz when I was coming up, i could never imagine that so many intellectuals can voice their opinions from one platform n that too in India.... Ranveer makes me proud of India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

I can see where you are coming from. I agree 100% with you. Ranveer is not a big intellectual and he often gets trolled even i troll him too. But the personalities that he introduces to us is appreciable. He has introduced to us people like Abhijit Chavda, Dr. Luke, Major Vivek Jacob and many more. Whenever i come to his channel, i always learn something new. Although i don't like those bollywood celebrities videos. But other than that this channel is gold🙌🏻. Kudos to you Ranveer ❤️

@@prateekgrewal4717 Me too. You don't have to be an intellectual to call these guests. You should be eager to learn and ask proper questions which makes it more productive and that he has been doing. Yes those Bollywood celebrity talks are useless and used by PR to make an image

He is saying you should go through it. It's very brave to dare to cry and to go through it. Braver than to just shoot it down and cope.
Also you will come out stronger and better.
      Doesn't matter what others say.
