This isnt about ideology, this was his job but his ego eventually gets in the way because he was considered the #1 pilot alive, thats what he means by his final words, he's warning monarch that one day another will come and shoot him down because eventually there will be another who will shoot monarch down, thats what the thunder he was refering to was. Funnily enough when i first was introduced to this game and crimson being memed for gaslighting i thought that crimson would originally be on our side then i learned that he is the type of villain who shows up early in the game and you cant do shit to him.
