Genuinely felt bad for Crimson, he was really disillusioned by The Federation, lost his comrades in the war and drove himself to destroying his own home by rage. He was a really well wrote out villain, I hope we get a Crimson DLC that'll let players do sorties he flew for the Federation.
6:45 This scream, right here. There’s so many emotions behind it. Rage. Guilt. Pain. There’s even multiple ways to interpret why Crimson 1 screams in such a way. It could be the realisation that all he’s done for the Federation will be for naught, his various deeds rendered to simply vain acts. It could be that, since it’s possible the final phase is him simply struggling through a fatal injury to take Monarch with him, this scream is basically Crimson 1 mustering all his strength to avoid blacking out from blood loss. Finally, it could just be simply pure rage, since Monarch just seems to refuse to *die* no matter what the Federation and Crimson 1 throw at him. All that matters is, whatever the reason for the scream, it’s powerful, raw, bitter, and desperate.
I remember seeing a Wild Mass Guess on Tv Tropes that one of the reasons why Crimson 1 sounds so desperate is because the Cordium might have a similar effect to Uranium (which is radioactive) and is slowly killing him, which also fits in line with the theory that he's mustering up all his strength into staying alive from a fatal injury, and that the scream he let out was a sign of that.
I think this is the moment where he "snaps", he is at his lowest right here, this is the first time he has EVER been shot down. He just completely loses it, this is where he fully decides to take down Monarch, this is when he gives up everything and decides that he WILL take down Monarch, no matter the cost
