    That reel takes the fun out of it!

      I used to think so too. Until I spent all day cranking up 2-3lbs of lead up from 800ft deep. Next trip I had an electric reel. 🤪 thanks for watching.

    Appreciate the details of your rigging. 45 miles at 270 M? How can you tell where you are at in the canyons? Great Vid, very instructional. How about a lat and lon? Thanks

      Just follow the fleet of boats and charters. Every Halibut day (especially weekends) boats head in the same direction. Funny too. There will nobody for miles then all of a sudden 50 boats are all in the same location.

    how many lbs of fillets was that at the end?

      @@carlpaquette4687 not exactly sure but I'd guess around 45. Thanks for watching.

      @@Northwestfishingfanatics np. it was fun watching you catch all that fish especially the Lingcod and Halibut. this kind of fishing is at the top of my bucket list but living in eastern washington makes it hard to get to the coast. One of these days i'll get it done.

    I didn't know electric reels were a thing...I assume you guys use them do to the depth your fishing in.

    • @Northwestfishingfanatics
      @Northwestfishingfanatics  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Exactly. When you're checking bait or pulling up to go to the top of the drift, cranking up 2-3 pounds of lead 600-700ft every time is a killer.

    Great video, do you ever get snagged on bottom with the 6 leader setup ?
    We use spreader bars here on the west coast of BC, curious which one works better ? Which gets snagged less
    Interested in your response, thx

    • @Northwestfishingfanatics
      @Northwestfishingfanatics  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I never get snagged in the 600-800ft spot. It is mostly soft sandy bottom. In some Ling areas I just tick the bottom but rarely snag up.

    How did you like using the copper tube lures? I think your first halibut was on one but overall please share your opinion? You and your fishing partners work well together. Sometimes that's hard to find.

    • @Northwestfishingfanatics
      @Northwestfishingfanatics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We've been fishing together for quite some time. The pipe jigs work best on Lingcod IMHO. I like using bait for Halibut. But when you hit the right spot at the right time virtually everything works. Bait is king in my book though.

    The only thing I gotta say is, if you are a real fisherman why are you using electric reels? WHY..? That’s sad.

    • @Northwestfishingfanatics
      @Northwestfishingfanatics  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I'm not only a "real" fisherman, I'm a smart one. If you've ever fished in 600 to 800 foot of water with 2 to 3 lbs of lead you wouldn't even ask such a question. Thanks for watching though. Appreciate it. :-)

    • @kylekerr3171
      @kylekerr3171 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      what you also arent thinking about is time spent fishing. when fishing those depths it can take 5 to 10 minutes to bring 3 pounds up if you get a bite you really dont even want to check your bait, instead maximize the time spent fishing and hit the switch and check your bait. Also halibut fishing is for fun but its also about putting meat on the table for my family Id rather use whatever is most effective.

    I skipped the intro till last. I watch fishing shows for just that, when I went back to see the gear what popped out first was the big political poster on the washer ! I came to fish not to find out who you support, and as I always do for wrecking a good vid I BLOCKED YOU !!!

    not doing anything but standing there.. So sad…
