Thanks Joe for bring back all of the wonderful memories of running out of Galveston to the floaters and doing many two night trips catching everything from Blackfins, Yellowfin, White Marlin and Blue Marlin and everything in between. I'm almost 70 years old now and just feel so blessed to have had the chance to experience those amazing adventures. Ray Ward
Jooooooooe! You are freaking me out dragging your knife towards your leg! I know you're a pro, there's no doubt. But my heart can't take it! lol This video was so much fun to watch. I can only imagine how much fun it is to be out there on that boat. Keep up the great content!
The Nikki Bella is absolutely gorgeous. Were you a "mate/deck hand"? What a blast that 24 hours must have been.. I'm not going to sleep worth a darn after seeing that teaser. Keep bring us the good stuff Joe. Love ya man. Be safe. Be well. See you soon.
I've been fishing in Hawaii, on the big island for 45 years now. I have a custom built Force 30 flybridge boat. I mostly commercial fish , all over the big island, on 4-5 day trips. I do take friends out on day trips for fun too, and as I'm based out of Honokohau harbor in kona, we have some of the best Blue Marlin fishing, both trolling lures and live bait, aku or skipjack tuna. I've caught a lot of big donkeys (over 500 lb Blue Marlin) all the way up to granders or 1000+ lb Marlin!!! Kona has really been mecca for big blue marlin fishing , so I know the gulf and those rig platforms are amazing when they're holding a lot of fish, but the big island is pretty hard to beat, and it's so deep so close to shore, you don't have to travel far out to be in the 100-1000 fathom ledges!!! I've caught huge marlin many times within 50-100 yards of the lava rock coastline, sometimes 5 minutes after leaving the harbor! Like anywhere, when the fishing is really good and there's a lot of fish around, it's just one of the best places to catch pig pelagic fish like marlin and big ahi or yellowfin tuna which we get a lot of the 200+lb size!!! That boat is crazy!! Enjoy! Aloha from beautiful Hawaii DL
Fished off Kona as well on the Humdinger with Jeff Fay, when lived in Hawaii Kai. Had my own 21' Fiberform cuddy, and trolled "ono alley" between Koko Head and Diamond Head. Unfortunately had to transfer back to Texas, but had 3 boats, the last a 24' Robalo, out of Surfside Texas. Texas does have a great fishery, and probably on par with Hawaii. Moving back to Hawaii in couple years, as retired now. Not sure if back to Hono, or Kona, and definitely buying a boat again. Aloha from Texas (for now)...🤙🤙🤙

Joe, you are living such a blessed life, life is about adventures and memories and being able to get paid while working on rich people's toys is such a great way to live!!
Got the notification and came inside to watch this one! Firewood stacking can wait till later. 😎 So happy you got to go on this boat and that you brought us along. 🤘
Why do you have to have coolers full of bagged ice on a $10 million Viking? Shouldn’t it make unlimited ice based on fresh water tank capacity for fish wells? Serious question.
It will have a water maker and have unlimited fresh water but it takes a lot longer to freeze water than to simply buy ice. Easy to use it faster than you can make it.
There is Icemaker below their feet. And a number of spaces that convert with freezer plates. It’s pretty nuts. In addition to everything in galley etc.. walks through every inch of it here: th-cam.com/video/__wM-MRWW5o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FH6eq_jXhMCjh4LJ
@@cliftongreene5318 I don't think they were doing it because they were starving. If you have made enough to buy a 10M boat, you should be able to fish and enjoy it as much as you damn well please.
I love scooping these flying fish out of the water on the lights!! As you said, sometimes it's more fun than any other fish you were targetting before... Keep up with the awesome content bro! And I know I will see you down here in NZ one day!!
Great video Joe! Love it when you’ve been on the Viking & people don’t realize how much they are worth. Clickbait, my a$$. Some awesome catches, including the bait… wow, they were huge & as I sit here watching & eating my toasted ham, spinach, red bell pepper & aged cheddar sandwich, I was drooling. Wish we got a CCC, but always happy to see what’s what! Thanks for sharing!!!
The cruelty!!! You didn’t invite me to go deep sea fishing ! 😂. That looks like so much fun! My paternal grandfather flew for PHI Helicopters out to the rigs of the Louisiana Coast after Vietnam. That looks like a really good life! Thanks for sharing!
One night when we were tournament shark fishing offshore out of Galveston in the early 90’s I was sleeping on the deck and a flying fish landed on my chest.
Horn is my fave! Gotta love it , I learned to try to get those flyers head first cause that’s the way they go of course, you prolly know that already! Awesome video man.
I did some tuna fishing out near the Cortes Bank not too long ago. The sea lions were giving us some problems out there, snatching whatever was on a hook, just being total menaces. Once we were able to ditch them, we did pretty good.
Joe, you are a fishing machine. Even down to how you how rinse the gaff after the fish is in the boat. I have been fishing offshore since I was 8 years old up in New Jersey and now I am 55 and only fish out in the Gulf. I would love to one day go out with you on a tuna trip. Big tuna is a bucket list item. Love your videos.
A few quick observations - some funny. First, top notch crew with excellent fishing instruction, technique and perfect gaff shots every time! Never touched the meat! Second, funny as hell! Your sponsor is a healthy meal and you're digging in the freezer for a microwaved burger! LOL Lastly, to keep it short, why were you using bagged ice instead of ice most likely produced the the boat's ice machine? It would fit better in the box. But the most important comment is the first. Great crew! Keep up the good work fellas!
Yo joe. For catching flying fish all you gotta do is put out a line with a bottle tied to it with a size 1 hook. That’s a trick I do down in the Cayman Islands
If you want to catch fish, go to the golf! I’ve been to the big island 7 times fished on many great boats I can tell you it is a waste of what used to be a good fishery. It will never change until you guys quit hanging Marlins and making jerky out of them, which no one likes. I understand the culture there very well, but The fishery will not change until the locals figure it out. Don’t expect to go back until this fishery is better regulated, which is hard for me to say because I don’t believe in regulations, but Kona is a perfect example of a place with zero regulation.
Not disputing value of boat. TH-cam’ing is a business, I’m sure titles are important to making money. Just saying I love this channel to the point that every title could say “catching more fish” and I would still click and watch. Thanks for all the content Joe
A couple things. First of all, that was an amazing fillet that you did on the move. And secondly, are there any laws and how close you get the oil rigs?
Nice! But, nothing compares to the tuna fishery that is the Galapagos. and wahoo and marlin, sails, tilefish, pargo, pargolisa!.. but, the nice yellow fin are king there. We catch so many, ya gotta sit down and let your arms rest! While my buddy yells: wtf are you doing! we're fishing! get up!! hahahaha Love it.

$10mil dollar boat and it doesn’t have big enough fish boxes to properly brine a tuna. Might as well carry fish bags and ice and sea water in it to bring core temp down.
I’ve had a few opportunities to fish some big sport fish boats. Never on a 90’ Viking. It is much more of a production and not nearly as fun as a center console. They are luxurious though. Getting to sleep in the AC while the mates do all the work is nice but lacks the payoff of full appreciation to me. When you’re all on deck on a center console everyone gets involved. It’s just better to me. Not that I won’t go back out on a sport fish again, it’s just different.
Is that Gunnison? While fishing Gunnison one night three guys reeled in blackfin tuna at the same time and they got tangled together and couldn’t be landed right away. A mako shark the size of a great white slowly and calmly swam down the side of the boat and ate them one by one. It was a spectacle. That thing looked like it weighed 1500-2000 lbs and 15’ long. The deck hands said it was the biggest they had ever seen.....good times!
