  • My sons just got new 2021 Trek Marlin 5's. This one is Zach's, which is the Factory Orange / Lithium Grey color. He has taken it on a few trails and loves it! We have been bringing our GoPro with us when we ride and we'll have some clips to share soon so be sure to subscribe for those. We're going to tour through the features of the bike and take a look at the components.
    0:00 Intro
    0:58 Front fork and wheel
    1:31 Drivetrain
    1:53 Brakes and trigger shifters
    2:35 Conclusion
    Great bike if you are getting into mountain biking and starting out on some trails but still want to do some commuting on the bike.

    A friend of mine bought this exact bike. We removed everything Tourney and went with Acera 7 speed. Kept the shifters and brakes. Changed the crank to an Acera crank. Changed the fork to a SR Suntour xcr And now its a bike ready commuter/trail bike....cheap and cheerful!!

I'm looking at Giant, Marin, Trek, Specialized, Cannondale and just about every other manufacturer for bikes within this class. Just wondering if there was something you guys liked about the Trek over any others in the class.

    • @buulam
      @buulam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - basically all of those haha. Plus Norco. It really came down to inventory. There was nothing to be found. Eventually a few things popped up so we grabbed them. For my bike, I was hoping for a Roscoe 8 but when the 7 popped up I grabbed it. Seems like inventory has been flowing again, though!

      Well, that's probably subjective. This is a bike that is going to be better than what you'd find at a department store but it's still considered entry level across brands like Trek. I think it's an appropriate fork for the price point of the bike but it's certainly not high performance.
