When you try to break a habit such as smoking or excessive eating, it needs to be replaced with an alternative; chewing gum, going for a walk etc.. If you want a child to give up thumb sucking at bedtime, a replacement needs to be found. Maybe a parent and child could decide what they could use to replace the thumb sucking as a means of comfort. A stuffed toy or doll that you make new clothes for. A new teddy, a special blanket, a photo of Mummy on the bedside table...
If you put socks or gloves on your baby's hands remember to take them off before breastfeeding so your child can get a sufficient latch!
I used to suck my thumb all the time until I turned like 9 or so. One summer I had so much fun, I completely forgot about sucking my thumb. I tried it once more and it was disgusting. Never did it again.

I sucked up until one random day in high school and I can't even tell you why I stopped. One day I just...stopped.it felt ugly or disgusting to put it in my mouth that I could fanthom how I had been doing it for 15ish yearrs

I sucked my thumb from when i was born to 18 yrs old unfortunately. The orthodontist told my parents that i would have to have my jaw dislocated and reset along with braces to correct my bite. I Started hard mewing February 2023. Now its October 2023. The first thing i noticed was a little pain around the front of my teeth because i guess my lips was putting my teeth back into place. Then the facial bone right under my nose (maxilla) was very tender to the touch from my tongue being on the roof of my mouth as-well as the posterior third.
I found a few of my upper incisors being tender and over a few months, moving and looking much better than before. I no longer get slight pains in the wisdom tooth area since starting. My lips close by themselves now and i don’t need to force them together like before. My eye bags aren’t as noticeable as before but its still going to take time to get more results. I no longer snore like before since beginning. I get enough air through my nose and no longer have fuzziness when trying to remember things as before.
Listen, i know you’ll see a bunch of videos saying you can get a super jawn line in a month or so and i could be true for some people but don’t expect it to be right away. This stuff takes time. Im 27 as of writing this. Also, yes you can see results but not overnight. I forced myself to change because thats what i wanted for my life. If you want it bad enough you will go the distance. Mewing is hard people just make small things like this hard for themselves.

I sucked my thumb til I was sixteen. Fortunately my teeth didn't suffer and are very straight.
It is interesting there were apparently tribal groups in which everyone was made to thumbs suck, but with lower environmental pressures towards malocclusion and Craniofacial Dystrophy they more or less have perfect dental alignment. Which suggests thumb sucking is a secondary problem which is not causing the issue but directing the manner in which it presents. #mikemew
i sucked it till i was 11 and my teeth are symmetrical but the front 4 were severly pushed forward and my jaw is way shorter then it couldve been(ive got braces now)

Don’t feel bad my sister is 30 and she still does it. I never sucked mine but my 3 month old try’s every time I’m not looking.. so I’m looking around trying to prevent it... I keep socks on her hands.. sorry little baby I’m not gonna have a 30 year old daughter that sucks her thumb.

I’ve been sucking my thumb since I was born and I still can’t stop people in my school found out a said I was the baby of the school and they still call me that and my siblings make fun of me about it too I only have one friend I just want to stop I’ve had depression and tried to commit suicide but I stopped my self but it’s summer break now no one in my school will make fun of me now and people used to also call me toothless cause I broke my tithes while I was sucking my thumb I just want to stop it’s my dream every time I think about my thumb habit I cry like while I’m crying writing this message I just want to stop 😭 everyone makes fun of me 😭

I just have a very effective activity ..this one will definitely help you..whenever you feel to suck keep a small ball in your hand and play with it..1st do it for 15 minutes and then 30 minutes..after two days 45 minutes..if you can continue this one for a week..you will surely stop I trust in you..please do it hope you will ..May God help you..stay strong and never underestimate for others words..live your life ..
I ended up stopping a few months ago!trust me its hard to stop and everyone is different. Dont listen to people who make fun of you because if they were someone who sucked their thumb they would understand that its hard to stop and it doesn't go away in a snap

Try to replace it with something else.. when you feel the need suck on a lollipop 🍭 or something else! Or honestly if you feel a binky/ pacifier might help, try to start with that till you are not dependent on the sucking notion to give you calm. I hope that helps, good luck!!

Why do you have to make a baby stop sucking his thumb? It's the most natural thing to do for babies! Let them suck to their hearts' content.

are blistering so bad till they are bleeding. We don’t know these things are possible until it actually happens. Please do not try to justify anything if you do not know all of the danger of it. Yes it is for comfort but I would rather comfort her in any other way than letting her suck her finger to the white meet thank you!
