  • Thames Rowing Club go Head of the River on the 3rd March 2012 at11am. Going off 12 on a neap tide they weaved their way through to win in 20:11mins. A suicidal push into a brutal head wind after Hammersmith Bridge won them the race. Listen to the powerful calls from Hannah and watch the crew find their soul. It is the first non-composite win for Thames since 2001 and their 17th since 1930. Well-done from Bow Carrie, Sarah, Sophie, Charley, Catherine, Barbara, Emma and stoke Sophie. Respect. It can't come quickly enough!

As a Thames boy, one of the things I love about this video is that from 5:00 to 5:30 you can really hear the noise from the clubhouse balcony. There were a big bunch of us shouting and it was an emotional day for all concerned. Great race in a tricky headwind and virtually no stream (though Hannah did a good job to catch what little of it there was). The girls done good!

That was awesome, it is no wonder British rowing is in such good shape with people like Guin driving it forwards and keeping the men on their toes.

Wow! watching this with my daughter who's just started her first season racing and BOTH of us want to get in the boat.., well done for putting this together.., loved every minute of it. So inspiring!!

I love this. The pain is what gets me up in the morning thinking about my turn for the full tideway course in 10 days time.
I have to say, the video is far better than the ones I take as well. I took one the day after this for Hammersmith Head in miserable conditions using a pair of mobile eyewear recorder sunglasses.
I agree as well, the full video without music would be brilliant.

Thames A started off 12th it's true and you beat RC Zurich A and Imperial Uni/RC, so well done to your top crew - your esteemed VP Guin Batten must be immensely proud!

It's not bad at all! She has a lot of charisma; not sure precisely what it is but it's there. I was thinking the same thing. Great row Thames.

Interesting seeing it from a different perspective and seeing the traffic/carnage up ahead. What are the wires on Stroke's rigger? Is it something to do with the camera or some data gathering from the gate?

Looks like there is one on each gate, must be to record the crew's timing?

    Dear guys
Filmed using a Gopro on Hannah's head. Yes there is the full 20 minutes of the Race but I would need to get permission from the crew. Thanks for the interest Guin
