    Amazing! Thank you so much for this. I was pulling my hair out trying to find the thermostat input on the boiler. I would have never guessed that there was a cassette you pull out the bottom. Bonkers! Quite easy now I know that. Off to order a hive :)

    Brilliant advice, followed your tutorial to the letter fitting a hive to my glow worm boiler and it works like a dream. Thank you very much.

    Great video, nice and clear thanks.
    Have a question on the wiring - why did you wire the 24v (blue and grey cables on boiler) to the receiver (1&3) instead of wiring live (from boiler) to common (1 on receiver) and R (from boiler) to NO (3 on receiver)?
    Which would you say is the correct way to wire?
    Also I'm doing this for a glowworm flexicom 30cx with a single channel hive receiver - would the wiring be the same as your video or do I need to connect 1 (on receiver) to L (on boiler) and 3 (on receiver) to R (on boiler)?
    Thanks for any info

      Just do it the same as in the video, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

    Cheers for the video pal.
    I've got a glow warm 35cx, which didn't come with a thermostat, it only has a timer on the boiler for heating.
    Since last year the timer isn't working correctly. It gets stuck and if I don't realise, the heating will run for the whole night.
    If I fit the hive, will it mean that the timer will be redundant and can fully control the boiler using hive?
    Is there a second video to show how to use once you've fitted ?

      Yes set the boiler timer to on all the time and control the boiler from the hive, I don't have a hive user video sorry Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

    Apologies if this is a stupid comment. I have quite an old boiler and no room thermostat, looking to install one of these smart thermostat. The part which is confusing me is understanding which terminal on the boiler is Common and which is Normally Open. (I don't fully understand what these mean, I have just gathered these are what you need to use from watching tutorials.
    My boiler has 3 wires for the room thermostat section (plus separate connections for LNE). The 3 connections for the thermostat part are wired 1,2,3. 1&2 are bridged so from watching your video I assume it is 1&2 which I need to connect to the new smart thermostat system. What I am unsure of is what 1&2 are, which one is Common which one is Normally Open?
    Appreciate any guidance you may have. Also, when wiring up, you said the two bridged wires can go either way, so is it that it can also go either way when you wire it up to the smart thermostat system? Or do you have to know which was Noramlly Open and which was Common?

    • @aaanton11
      @aaanton11  ปีที่แล้ว

      You have this, like you said remove the bridge between 1&2 and wire to the thermostat as in the video, doesn't matter which way round you are just breaking the circuit, the thermostat is just a switch joining the bridged wires back together when the boiler is on. Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

    I have a Glow worm flexicom 30cx.
    Having trouble with mine, just had a gas engineer out to do mine and he couldn't do it. The main wire is a 5 core so we didn't have a loop, it had 2 black wires already wired in. Plus on the main receiver the previous wires were in 2 and 3, not 1 and 3 like the hive said. Putting the hive in 1 and 3 trips the electric when switched on :S
    Not sure where to go now if a gas engineer couldn't figure it out, he's done hundreds and can't figure out why this one won't work.

      @aaanton11  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need a new gas engineer! if you google Glowworm flexicom 30cx wiring diagram you get the hive install diagram.
      Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

    Hello ive used the exiting cable from my boiler to my old reciever howber it only has 4 cables and not a earth cable. Does this matter?

      No the hive control is made of plastic so no issues, unless you have a metal one, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

    Informative video, thanks. How do you wire up for multizone? I understand that you need a receiver for each zone, but how do they connect, does each one just loop across from the receiver next to it?

    Couldn’t you have hacked out the wall a bit and brought the cables through the square opening in the mounting plate? Would have left no visible wiring and would have required minimal plaster to cover the cable run from the timber baton to behind the receiver. Pretty sure that’s how the fitter did mine, although the receiver was replacing an existing programmer so the cables where already behind the plaster.
