@@nickweborg9485 I was hunting out there outside of Unalakleet from May 25-June 11. The terrible accident happened around 11:40 am on June 16th the morning after the last hunter filled his tag. Base camp was set up on a ridgeline, the only place to land in that area was on the slope of the hill leading up to the ridgeline. That base camp is hunted out of fairly often so Jim was used to landing there, despite it being treacherous. The crash happened as they tried to take off down the slope and failed to lift up off the ground. We don't know the cause of the crash, but AK state troopers should release a report outlining the potential cause in a few months. When I turned 30 years old in 2018, I decided to go carve out a life for myself in the mountains of Alaska. 5 years later, I run my own dog mushing yard, I hunt my own meat with a compound bow, and I am constantly seeking the next adventure… always wondering what’s over the next ridge. Cam had a LOT to do with my decision to take that leap. Grew up with a Dad that was never around, and I had to choose my own heroes and role models as people I wanted to be like, and Cameron Hanes was one of the people who’s message and mission really spoke to me. Thank you for all that you do, Cam. You’ve made a big difference in the lives of a lot of men like me, just by being who you are.

My older brother took his son out deep into Alaska's backcountry this last season for mountain ram. After 21 days and 60 miles, they were successful. He is 65 and my nephew is in his mid 20's. I am not sure at this time if anyone else was with them but I doubt it. My grandfather was a mountain man here in the PNW and while I was too young to join them, my brother was lucky to gain the experience he taught. Life is too short, and this is beautifully captured and shared with all of us, two legends, Roy and Cam, one of those inspirational friendships that make you realized that you need to enjoy the little moments a little bit more. The entire story, shots, and music, old video footage of hunters and people, it's all seamlessly blended. Just as Cameron is a born hunter, Branlin is born to be a filmmaker! Kudos and thanks to all of you! God bless you! 🙏🌸
This is so awesome! I started following you in 2007 when I was in Iraq! I’ve read all your books more than once. Cameron’s, you have changed peoples lives and motivated people to be better! You’re a badass human being Cameron, thank for all you have done for us all…you’re a stud!!
The way you look up to Roy and hold him close like a brother makes me think about what I’m leaving when life is over for me. It’s a truly inspiring film. Thank you to everyone involved.
Honour & Respect personified - what a beautiful piece of filmmaking & storytelling Cameron Hanes! man, it's an honour to follow along and share your journey, Roy would be proud - he was there in your hunts by your side, when he was around, backing you up & he was here as well... I don't know how else he could've made his presence felt, but to ensure that you walk away unscathed - your destiny remains unchanged, because you still have your guardian angel by your side - Roy still wants you to share and be around to inspire - in doing so, you'll succeed and make mistakes along the way as well, like we all do, but your heart's in the right place and that's all that matters - keep the faith & Keep Hammering... Branlin Shockey! this is a phenomenal piece of filmmaking and it inspires me to tell stories again - thank you so much for sharing Kip Fulks! anytime Morgan Freeman wants to retire, he can rest easy knowing that you got his narrator jobs covered - powerful words throughout my friend & that snuggly pillow adds a unique charm to this broad & earnest portrait of masculinity
This was such an emotional tale. Cam leaves it all out there for everyone to see. I admire him for all he has done to inspire people to be better versions of themselves. Thanks for shining a light for all of us to follow.
Cam is truly the definition of what a "MAN" is suppose to be. This film was so amazing! Amazing editing, amazing everything! Cam pouring his sole out at the end, had me in tears! Always "KEEP HAMMERING" 🤙
Not really, shooting animals in the white man's view is brave, takes skill, and courage.....I just see weak cowards shooting animals because they can't fight anything straight up.
@The Shitty Bowman people who can do what he does and goggins does without money is a lot harder and there's people who do it that's way more stoic than rich people doing "savage" shit with all the gear and money and recovery and gadgets and gizmo's in the world.
Absolutely incredible video!! It’s a special time when we meet a person that changes our life’s trajectory like Roy did for you Cam. Know that through your example you are doing the same and inspiring others to find purpose and passion in life!! Hats of to Branlin for capturing the adventure and doing what he does to put us there with you!! Keep 🔨🔨
Wow Cam, what a special tribute to your friend of a lifetime. May we all be so fortunate to have a friend in life, whom holds us in such high esteem as you do Roy. I'm so glad you decided to release this intense and touching film. Keep Hammering!
Thanks for dealing with that hurt and going back, walking into Roys room was a powerful moment in time! My Dad died almost 2 years ago, I have not gone home and been detached with the thoughts of dealing with it all. This really hit me, we Loved to hunt, I haven't touched a gun or bow in many year. It's true, it's not about killing the animal, it's about you as the wind kisses your cheeks and peace floods your soul.
By far 1 of the Best documentary I have ever seen especially being a tribute to a best friend . Cameron Hanes !! I feel your pain deep in your heart man , I know thos cause my best friend from the Ge of 12 years old past . I lost a brother and I know Roy was yours.. God Bless.
Having a friend that helped you find the thing that drives your very being is rare. Being able to pay tribute to that person is even more special. Cameron and Kip are a true inspiration. Thank you for making this.
Thank you for sharing.... an incredible story, and told a way we felt your emotions, pain, fear, and happiness all in the 58 min you all were able to edit into. The 3 min retrieval scene starting at 48:05 through the brush has been some of the most intense I've seen on a cinema film or hunting film ever...
What a great film! It captures the essence of what it means to be a hunter and also showcases the brotherly love that exists between friends who embrace their life experiences together and how it changes your outlook on life! The aching hole left in your heart when a dear friend departs this life can be filled with new journeys of life lived well with old and new friends. Kudos!! It goes without saying that that Branlin's cinematic mastery is second to none! !
Dam that was an amazing film! I was on the edge of my seat watching this more than any "blockbuster" film I've seen in the last 10 years. Keep up the great work, legends!
Cam, you helped me get sober when I was short on hope brother. Thank you for being the guide I needed. Gave up the Bergera for a matthews and haven’t looked back
Men without courage live in fear. Roy was a man of courage as are you Cam. I could feel the struggle that you had to endure to return to Alaska, be in Roy’s home with his family, and to hunt this apex predator without your best friend. God Bless!
To Cam. I am a fellow hunter and outdoorsman. I respect your determination. What seems to be wrong is that there is a lack of awareness and respect for taking this bears life. During the video you say "no rifles". Once the bear was dead you can hear that your unhappy with how the animal had to be killed with rifle, that's seems to be coming forming your on ego. Because It didn't fit into how you wanted the story to go we now have a dead bear with people around having to justify to you why they shot it rifle. The point is if your going to kill an animal have respect. If your not going to be happy then don't take the animals life to begin with. If your ok with death then walk into that thicket alone, with no rifles. Instead of staring over this dead bear unhappy.
Relax fella. He was upset because he's dedicated and true to his craft. That's his life. Just a guess, but I doubt you've dedicated yourself to something with the same discipline over a massive amount of time like he has. That means something.
Absolutely beautiful in every way. Thank you for sharing your journey of not just the hunt, but the heart behind it, your love for Roy & the impact he has made in your life. Through you he continues to impact us. Thank you for not stopping. #KeepHammering
No joke but much being said here is not true. The plane got you there, engineers made your bows and equipment. You are camping with modern materials crafted by many men and women over decades. You/we have advantage as we have never seen before. Hunters have never seen it so easy.. Of course effort and intelligence is huge and Cameron is a master class in fitness and diligence so never a take away from him. Everyone should read the Louis and Clark adventure from 1804.
I have Journal copies from the expedition….its unfathomable what The Core Of Discovery went through…..upriver on the way!!! Impeccable leadership! I still can’t get my head around how they did it. The very next thing to me is what the country did in a short time to enter WW2…..INCREDIBLE!!!
I'm man enough to say teared up a couple times watching this. I long for the type of brotherhood Cam and Roy shared and enjoyed hunting together. Cam ur lucky to have had such a great friendship for as long as u did.
Cam, you like your freind Roy. Have been a huge inspiration to so many. Thank you for showing us your ways. Thank you for allowing us to watch this spiritual journey. Keep Hammering.
I can only imagine how amazing it must be to grow up near mountains 😢 Cameron and the Guys did a fuckin amazing job filming this, it really is inspiring just to watch the way this was filmed and the brotherhood and love for the outdoors you all share. Very jealous of y’all it’s a dream of my dad and I to bow hunt even in the realm of these guys. One day ☝️ I’ll be able to take my dad on an Elk trip, after recently losing my mom a month ago on my sons birthday this really hits home for me. Even made me emotional seeing Cameron go thru the same things I am, processing all those memories.
I had to sit in silence for a while after this presentation....greatly moving. I have hunted all my life, but I never really got a taste of the big mountains. I did spend several summers in Alaska, so I can understand it's majesty. Here is to many more years for you to hunt. My days are done. I am partially disabled now, so all my hunting is confined to one week of deer season sitting in a truck and hoping one comes close enough to take.
A tribute to an incredible hunter and man. This documentary captures the rarest of friendships. As this shows, the world is a wonder, filled with such men and women. Amen!
@@Ac-ly8tx hilarious bud. I am not worried about Cameron Hanes. I've stared down the eyes of the devil in a foreign country. I know all about fear. Cameron Hanes is 50% substance and 50% a brand and hype. I can see through the B.S.
@@Ac-ly8tx If he really was prepared to die like he said and wants to hunt a grizzly with a bow and doesn't need rifles or pistols, then he needs to back that up and do what he said he is willing to do.
Wow, If you are a hunter of any animal you need to watch this film. What a way to remember your best friend. I know he is looking down and telling you to keep doing what you love, we will meet again someday. Guys this is it. Well narrated and filmed. Jim, you and your wife should be proud of this young man. My hat is off to all of you involved in this film.
This is a prime example why guides up here hate bowhunters, and the fact that you sat there trying to finish it off with a bow while you got four other dudes behind you in the brush with a wounded bear is total bullshit and egotistical.
Amen! All the modern tech of a modern soldier against an animal chewing on berries! And the bear would have won the battle if not for a rifle backing him up.. senseless violence for false sense of self.
@@Marcspix. i totally didn't get all the romanticism around killing and animal for no reason. Okay, for food - I get it. But why'd you just go and kill a bear for no rhyme or reason? The shot of that bear lying bloodied and dead with its eyes open didn't seem like paying respects to life, let alone that of a friend who's passed away.
What a glorious film. Thank you so much for sharing it with us all. Your strength and story inspires so many just as Roy inspired you. Thank you so much Sir. Keep Hammering!!
Ya know ANYONE who’s philosophy is “I’m gonna kill the animal with my bow or it’s gonna kill me” is an idiot that does not appreciate life, their family or any other responsibly placed before him in life! Character and integrity start with life priorities and it’s a fools errand to put bow hunting or anything else before your family! The fact is when you place bow hunting as your religion you’ve already gone down the wrong road sadly!
I think hunting bears is lame. n my youth, I shot them with both a bow & rifle. They are blind, gentle giants for the most part... The worst hunts that I have been on.
Always talked about ready to die and didnt want guns. Guess he wasnt that ready to die. So much for destiny that he was talking about. Gun ended up killing the bear.

Beautiful film and tribute. You men, including Roy, inspire and live in the hearts of more than you know. Thank you.
Thank you Cam for sharing this video with us, I know it wasn't an easy thing for you to do. Keep hammering and keep inspiring 🤘🏻
Thank you! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of that. Nothing short of amazing. Truly an honor to watch. I felt every second of that film.
I am incredibly moved...moreso, since this Saturday I will be attending the memorial service for one of my long-time bowhunting buddies and fellow retired Veterans. Thank you!
What a fantastic movie and special tribute to Roy. Thank you for making the movie and sharing it with everyone.
Honour & Respect personified - what a beautiful piece of filmmaking & storytelling
Cameron Hanes! man, it's an honour to follow along and share your journey, Roy would be proud - he was there in your hunts by your side, when he was around, backing you up & he was here as well...
Branlin Shockey! this is a phenomenal piece of filmmaking and it inspires me to tell stories again - thank you so much for sharing
Kip Fulks! anytime Morgan Freeman wants to retire, he can rest easy knowing that you got his narrator jobs covered - powerful words throughout my friend & that snuggly pillow adds a unique charm to this broad & earnest portrait of masculinity
That was one of the best things I’ve watched in awhile. Such amazing footage.
This was such an emotional tale. Cam leaves it all out there for everyone to see. I admire him for all he has done to inspire people to be better versions of themselves. Thanks for shining a light for all of us to follow.
Thank you for sharing this journey with us. Keep Hammering and Keep getting it Done! For Roy!
Cam is truly the definition of what a "MAN" is suppose to be. This film was so amazing! Amazing editing, amazing everything! Cam pouring his sole out at the end, had me in tears! Always "KEEP HAMMERING" 🤙
man with money
@@rylandpeters8982 get out of that mindset… you can also go EARN money.
@Ghett0 Vet Cam has worked the same 9-5 job for like 25 years while doing everything he does
Thank you, Cam. This was the best hunting film I've ever seen.
This is beautiful, good on ya cam, tribute to Roy was a tear jerker. You have to visit/hunt in Newfoundland one day
Absolutely incredible film. Thank you Cam for all you do for the sport and community surrounding you. Can’t wait to share this.
By far 1 of the Best documentary
I have ever seen especially being a tribute to a best friend .
Cameron Hanes !!
I feel your pain deep in your heart man , I know thos cause my best friend from the Ge of 12 years old past .
I lost a brother and I know Roy was yours..
God Bless.
The dream. Can’t wait to see it Cam!
One of the best hunting videos I have ever watched!!! Thanks Cam, Kip and Branlin for the honesty!! 🏹🤘
Having a friend that helped you find the thing that drives your very being is rare. Being able to pay tribute to that person is even more special. Cameron and Kip are a true inspiration. Thank you for making this.
Moving and inspiring film. Thank you for allowing us to see this
Amazing story!! The videography and editing is absolutely incredible. One of the best I’ve ever seen.
Awesome documentary Cam thanks for taking us on this journey with you, and sharing Roy's memory and story with us.
Yo Cam can’t wait to watch this adventure ✊🤙 glad you decided to share this experience
Your story telling is unreal. You really bring us into your journey. Thanks you.
God Bless!
Shooting animals takes the least courage of anything on Earth I guess for weak white men it is brave for anyone else it is pathetic
Incredible luvthis film Cam.. you are what legends are made of.!!! ❤❤❤
This is going to be epic
No doubt
Proving to be just that.
💯
Thanks for releasing this incredible movie capturing your bond with Roy on your hunting adventures. Roy is watching and he misses you also
Rest In Peace to a true legend, Roy Roth.
Perfect! Roy would be proud of what you become!
A grizzly they killed took over 10 bullets to get put down and these people want to test their luck with a bow 😂
This is a masterpiece. 🔥 RIP, Mr. Roth. 🫡
One of the greatest works of art in filmography
Absolutely amazing video and what a fitting tribute to Roy. You know damn well he was watching out for you.
Cam, you like your freind Roy. Have been a huge inspiration to so many. Thank you for showing us your ways. Thank you for allowing us to watch this spiritual journey. Keep Hammering.
" I'm prepared to die, this is what I do". That's the mentality it takes to be 'Roy tough' what an awesome story, legends!
Yeah and then instantly pulls out rifle when the situation arises, was definitely not 'prepared to die' when the bite came to biting.
It doesn't get any more real than that folks. Ups and Downs, a heart felt journey, and a bit of self reflection. This is how you find peace.......
Amen!
Why does cam mention no guns but they have guns the whole time
Hell of a film, guys. Enjoyed everything about it.
“I don’t need rifles.” “I am prepared to die.” Guide walks behind him with a rifle in case things go awry. 🤔😂😂🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
We all know you wouldn’t
Say that to
Cams
Face!
Thanks cam. God bless Roy for giving you the drive you have.we all need a Roy in our life
So, Cam expected those guys to let the bear attack him? I don’t know how you can communicate something like that to a guide lol..
100% without a doubt the best hunting related film I've seen. Beautifully done!
I think hunting bears is lame. n my youth, I shot them with both a bow & rifle. They are blind, gentle giants for the most part... The worst hunts that I have been on.
This is beautiful. Life is a collection of tragedies. Powerful story in honor of Roy. Thank you Cam and crew.
Always talked about ready to die and didnt want guns. Guess he wasnt that ready to die. So much for destiny that he was talking about. Gun ended up killing the bear.
Cameron Hanes you are a stud of the highest order and you are truly inspiring.
