What did you do with the meat?

We pulled all of it from the carcass, threw it in backpacks, and hauled it off the mountain to be eaten. It took 6 of us two heavy trips to get it all.

A beautiful tribute to your friend, Cam. Life is so tenuous and unpredictable. Your early comment about the need to put the time in the field really resonates with me, especially as a solo hunter. Yes, nature is unpredictable and you never know what is going to happen or what you are going to come upon, especially if you're holed up in your tent/camp waiting out a bad stretch of weather. You have to put the time in, you have to be out there, you have to have the discipline and the desire to stick it out when things turn less than ideal. Thanks again for the great post and tribute to Roy.

A great tribute for Roy!! As an Alaskan Guide who doesn't share the prototypical physique, I find, in a strange way, a bond with Roy...... Not having met the man.
I know that this might come across the wrong way, but he died a mans death, the death of a hunter. Too soon, for sure! Beats dying in the hospital.
And I have taken a serious fall guiding a mountain goat hunter near Yakutat, over 200 feet....... The overwhelming feeling of lack of control was the hardest part for me to deal with after the fall.
We, as men, like to feel like we are in control...... The only one that is in true control is God!!
Peace to all, and enjoy this new and upcoming year;)

Cameron, I've been following you for several years ago and have watched this video twice. I hunted bow/rifle in Alaska and eventually guided for five years for moose and brown/grizzly bear. I am touched by this tribute to Roy and deeply moved for I slid 800" down the headwall of a glacier in the Chitna walkin sheep hunting area and could have easily died. My heart goes out to all the hunters and sportsman who have lost a good mentor and buddy.

When you lose a good friend it's a tragedy. You continue to live thinking about those moments. And time never soothes pain. UNA VERA TRAGEDIA.

damn this is fucking so sad..... something so simple took a great mans life... the only positive thing to say is the man died doing what he loved to do.
