Im active, I still love really nice athleisure wear, cute fleece fitted hoodies when appropriate to run simple errands, a nice crew neck sweatshirt (without the school logo please), especially as I live in a colder climate half the year. Bring on the lug soled boots too. And 3 inch length shorts. No longer. I am petite at 5’2 with longer legs but I’m still a shortie. Longer shorts are frumpy on someone my size. But no daisy Dukes. • @trishagoodwin4069
      @trishagoodwin4069 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I agree that it depends on your body to a degree. I don't wear shorts at all, but used to in my fifties, as was tall and slim. Still tall and slimish at 68 (a UK size 12, US size 8) but don't feel they would look good now, also sleeveless anything is awful on bigger arms as you age too. I cannot bear fleeces, unless you are actually hiking in the mountains, which they were designed for. But disagree about cardigans and wraps, I think these are so ageing, wear a well fitting sweater instead. I also disagree about large earrings, small, neat and delicate can look like your eldery auntie and gold jewellery, unless very modern and chunky, can be very ageing too. I also feel that too short haircuts show your age too, as a bit loose and undone is much more ageless if cut properly. I prefer a bit unstyled and undone, as the French seem to do so well.

They come from Hollywood by men who dictate what women should wear (and say, feel and think) to boost their ego and bank account. There is a woman friend of mine who always dresses classically, neat, comfortable and 'put together' well. I like to see what she wears and other ladies to see what I can do to be that classic, and true to myself. I see a lot of other women who look like they are dressed to muck out the barn. If that's what they like....oh well.

    I agree with everything with the exception of fleece and sweatshirts and maybe the earrings. I love my cozy fleece sweatshirts and hoodies! I particularly love hoodies and don't see that as something to avoid after a certain age. I don't wear hoodies with cartoons or sports logos. The round neck may be problematic for some, but I keep myself in very good shape and the round neck is not an issue for me. No offense, but I actually find wraps to be frumpy. I myself only wear stud earrings but I see older women wearing bigger hoops and some of them look great. I think on a bigger woman, a bigger earring looks better than a smaller earring. • @tinalettieri
      @tinalettieri ปีที่แล้ว

      The round neck has nothing to do with age. It's about face shape, and neck length. I have a fairly short neck and a diamond shaped face, but a slightly round diamond, not a long, narrow one. Round necks, especially high ones always looked terrible on me even as a young girl. This is true about all necklines. They need to compliment the shape of your face, which will automatically make you look younger.

    The problem with this is it’s always women who are told how to dress and wear our hair according to how old we are.
    I’ve seen countless articles in magazines since I was a teenager telling us how to dress in our 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. We’re constantly hearing how long or short our hair should be and what hair styles and colors soften our wrinkles. In my life I’ve seen maybe one article telling men how to appropriately dress for their age. And practically every women’s or gossip magazine has a dedicated “do” and “don’t” section about how women should dress.
    Our society is still focused on making women feel we need to look a certain way in order to be accepted and that we need to seek the approval of men and “society”. The ‘shoulds’ and ‘shouldn’ts’ are directed primarily at women.

      How many local male anchors and meteorologists look like they're dressed to go clubbing or work in a lounge? The males desk anchors on the morning and evening news, even the youngest, wear full suits and ties and neat, close haircuts. The young ladies on local anchor desks now wear Veronica Lake/ Pageant Girl hairdos, and tight -- often skin baring dresses, no jacket. Often they deliver the news/ weather more like RV sales models than professionals. The guys in professional jobs look far more so.

      @@brindageorge701: And who do you think is responsible for that? The networks and producers have final say on wardrobe, hair, and makeup. The women look overly sexy nowadays because that’s what the networks *WANT.* Sex sells. You don’t think a lot of people watch certain news channels because of their favorite anchorperson or how cute the weather girl is? You have quite a few older men still delivering the news, but very few women over the age of 45. You just proved my point.

    I enjoyed this video,and you made a lot of sense because so many people think anything goes! When you reach a new chapter in life I think it’s important to remember the past is just that! I love getting older, and looking sophisticated in my looks!! Some are threatened by this ,but I love creating a new me!! Ladies need to remember that wearing clothes that are for twenty something year olds is not cool no matter how thin you are or young you think you are! Maturing is not a bad word!! Embrace Classic designs, and people will notice it!! And most importantly you will be respected ✝️🙏

    I wear my sweatshirts for yard work, cleaning my snakes, home doing household tasks. Never gained weight so they still look acceptable, but I do not wear them out. Still not an old lady at 72. I never showed too much skin or wore big costume jewelry. I like pastel clear nail polish. I do have some interesting clothing my style and fit which will not go out of style. I like classic style with a twist.

    I agree with these tips, especially sweats. I hate them, I always had a weird feeling wearing them and pinpointed it to just feeling frumpy. The best thing I did was get rid of them, and replaced them with nice comfy lounge wear. Even when I was younger I hated booty shorts & mini skirts.

    Does anyone else paint their OWN nails any more? I do, and get compliments on how nice they look. One of the first things I did when I moved to New York was to get a manicure (my first!) at Bloomies. That was 1966. It was a Mess, and I haven't had a salon manicure since!

    I think this is pretty good advice all around, but some of it definitely depends on our body shape and level of fitness. I love sweatshirt and they don't add weight or look frumpy on me. Plus it's cold as crap where I live. Also, I am very fit and have very muscular thighs, long shorts on me look bizarre, so it's short ones or nothing. Maybe the no sweatshirts works if you are still a working professional, but I am a personal trainer. I would look like an idiot showing up to my job in a wrap instead of a hoodie.

      This video is silly and stereotypes women over age 50. Who says that women over 50 NEEDS to wear these things. What if we want to and what if we still can and still look good in them? I am 56, and I have exercised and ate healthy since age 18 and so, my body is slim, toned and fit and I look much younger for my age. I get mistaken for being in my mid to late 30"s all the time. And you know what? I still wear skinny jeans or a bikini and I still wear cut off denim shorts just below my butt. And I also wear big chunky earrings because I have long, big curly hair so, small earrings can't be seen with my hair.
