Sorry for changing pins y'all, but holy S*** there's so much great discussion and points being raised in the comments right now (And everyone for the most part is keeping it civil). I'm trying to get to everyone but there's a ton of you so forgive me if it takes some time We talk about things like this pretty often on my Twitch channel, so feel free to stop by if you want to be a part of a community that promotes things like this! twitch.tv/Khalil_ ALSO, thank you guys for clearing up my misconception about the gacha's accessibility. I still do think creating a mobage (I believe is the most common service) account may be a preventative factor for some since most in NA probably won't be familiar, but it's not as annoying as having to emulate or anything like that so sorry for that! Competition in the genre probably a bigger issue
I love the game so much, it has lots of content and is fun as hell, the only thing that needs is more players, sometimes i run into the same person over and over again
people complains about anything. i try to get mid rank on all my games and i dont even research frame data. I got S rank granblue, diamond in sf6, legend 4 rank dota 2, etc most people i know say they love fighting games but they are shit then they talk about oh i like it when back then sf2 bla bla bla mortal kombat bla bla bla. Just play the game and enjoy. Granblue is a good game imo its better then sf6
@@DarkKojiro i was one of the fools that pre ordered SF5 and that was a "never again with Capcom" for me, how empty and boring that game was makes me love Granblue even more
If you're on Ranked, that's actually a bug. If you get matched against the same person a dozen times and you block them you'll get matched against someone else in seconds. If you then unblock them and they're still playing, you'll get matched against them again as soon as possible. Why? Who the fuck knows.
@@Stroggoii FR!? Didnt knew that, its like the game gets stuck into the first person you found and wont give you a diferent match until that person stops playing or you block them? If it is a well known problem its wierd that they didnt fixed it with any of the updates so far, hope they do it soon, ty for the advice
Yeah for sure! Unfortunately, I don't think it's super likely, but on the other hand it doesn't have to be Sajam that does it (Even though that would be incredible)
Well I don't want to be too harsh but the fact that you haven't played the one before is the reason you don't understand why the game hasn't gained popularity, it's inferior in many points and costs more. Where? The gameplay, the new mechanics are neither well thought out nor fun, cutting all the previous ones. They removed the UOH, overdrive, rush and backshift all the things that made the game fun and fast paced. They removed the difference between the inputs that gave a choice to the player, it also has a worse input bluffer. In this moment the game can be reduced at just strike-throw, rinse and repeat, with metered options that replace EX versions of the moves. Removed single player content by focusing the game as live service. This in particular killed my friends desire to play it since it was possible to play together both offline and online, and the RPG mode interested them. The graphics, no longer have the shadows defined on the characters and elements like metal are not as defined as the game before. This is due to the change of engine. Except for the characters, it has less content than the original and worse gameplay, that's why. The content you mention is a guy complaining that he can't do his target combo and wants the game to be even easier, is this content? The people who should be in charge of finding people is the company that produces the game, making a valid product, it can become one but at this moment objectively it isn't.
Hi! Harsh I can take, but I do think you've misunderstood a bit. I did not actively play vanilla, but I did watch, do my research, and follow the game after a certain point (Designated in the video). I even helped run it at some majors. Honestly, an overwhelming majority of the things you listed as negatives are purely preferential and when that is the case, there will also be a base that likes those things more than the previous version. Overall, Rising is simply a different game than vanilla. If you carry yourself trying to align their competitive gameplay elements especially, you'll find that these games aren't the same for a lot of reasons. And this isn't just the case for GB either, many newer installments of FGs can change drastically from installment to installment (Strive, SF6, Tekken 8, etc). And so yes, there will be some people who want it to be more like the previous version, but I do not believe it's as big of an impact as some make it out to be (On the actual fighting game side of things) especially when you consider mitigating factors like this game has a free version, has greatly improved netcode, is currently in dev cycle, has a world tour, etc. and I also think there are a TON of FG players who didn't even look in vanillas direction because of the time it came out in and the netcode who are interested and even involved in rising since it's newer Now, the single player stuff is valid and likely a driving force with casuals and I agree they should put more time into that end (I said this in the video), but again, I think it's lazy to blame the multiplayer gameplay changes and call it a day when no matter what anyone thinks of the game and how it compares to vanilla, there's a lot more that can be done both on player/content end and developer/publisher end. We have no hard control over what they will decide to do, so I think it's better to focus on what we can. No game will be for everyone and I understand that, I'm just trying to get more people to try so they can actually make that choice haha Thank you for commenting!
@@Khalil_ You avoid mentioning KOF and UNI, both refine predecessors, I'd rather watch tournaments of those at this point, it's not fun to watch such a simple game (I think there's a limit beyond which it's no fun to play or watch, on release it was there). I have been playing it since 2020, you argue that many criticisms are based on personal preference rather than objective flaws. You're comparing a game where you do almost the same combos, in fact Gran's and Vaseraga's still work, to Strive which pretty much has nothing from the games before except the characters. In Europe and Asia I used to find matches without problems, online was never a problem, China lobbies were always full. I don't form my opinion without regard to others, at my local they don't play it anymore for these reasons, although the experience in your community is different, you shouldn't dismiss mine with generalizations. I understand wanting to maintain positivity, but when something doesn't work I have no problem saying so, the game in beta was even worse, if it changed it's because players gave it feedback. Fighting games are the purest form of gameplay in video games, I don't think you can just say it's different tastes, there are things that work and some that don't. GBFV base had its problems, but not like this. There is bug on rematch I reported it from the first beta and they still leave it there. As a person who played it so much it hurts not to recommend it to friends, I understand the feeling but why do you think even with a free demo you find so few people, case? Thank you anyway for putting up with me, I'm sorry if I sounded aggressive, regards
Oh I didn't omit them maliciously, sorry if you thought I was trying to be in bad faith! I just wanted to focus on the games that were bigger as an example but that's totally valid There are absolutely counterexamples to what I'm presenting. It really is, I believe, a matter of perspective (And also to what extent the issues and boons have an effect on the outcomes). Despite characters kit's being similar like you mentioned with gran/vas, I think you'd still be hard pressed to call the gameplay flow/loop anywhere near similar to vanilla. It's not as drastically different as strive to previous GGs you're correct, but I think that can both both good and bad depending on each person which is why I was saying it's very preferential. Things in the game not being changed even when feedback is there is frustrating no matter what, I agree. Though I'd say a lot of feedback I see from other people (even in these comments) really boils down to people wanting it to be a *different* game moreso than a *better* game. There are objective things that are messed up like bugs like you say (like that weird room match bug where ranks show up incorrectly has been around since launch as well) but for the most part, I don't think those things are the make or break for MOST people. Are they important? Absolutely, but most just focus on other things whether that's the right or wrong thing to do. (Unless it's literally gamebreaking). I think the direction/goal for rising can be refined and improved while still maintaining it's identity distinct from vanilla and also other anime fighters You'll have to excuse me if you felt I was over generalizing, that isn't the goal here, moreso trying to present a different perspective to issues you raise just like you have mine I think even though it has a free demo, it hasn't been marketed nearly as much by players or by dev/publisher. There are people that come into my chat every day that never knew there even was a free version haha. So I think that's a big part of it, and another big part of it would be that a lot of FG discourse kind of aims to push people away from trying new things (Something I've been trying to combat long before rising was a thing). There are likely a ton of different variables that all have varying levels of impact, but my point really is that even if I were to believe that the game is bad, it still isn't hitting it's potential even with all of its issues. I don't mind the way you approached this at all. I think there's clear thought with your words, and this to me is more of a discussion between 2 people that think differently rather than a vitriolic argument. I find your perspective valuable and I again thank you for taking the time to even type all of this out (Some nuance inevitably gets lost through text LMAO). This is the stuff that people need to see.
I even bought my friend their own copy. I been trying to show my friends how fun the game really is. I am lucky enough getting more friends to join in.
Wow, that's actually pretty cool, i just bought the game on steam before the sale ended and i was playing some casual matches. I just hope that this game lasts many years. It is pretty fun.
It’s tiring having to explain and clear up misconceptions about this game. So many times I see people saying you can’t open up in Rising because of no more UOH/throw tech window despite shimmy being buffed and the throw tech window being made smaller in GBVSR. See people complain about Raging Strike being a jump scare??? See people complain about neutral skips Ultimate Skills and they can never tell me what tournaments they see this happening so much in? Majority of Ult Skills are reasonably reacted and it’s also a 50% metered option so ofc it’s gonna be stronger. 66L and BC are like the most fair complaints and I’d like to see them be adjusted, but I also hate how they’re also misunderstood too. People are acting like 66L as a whole is a problem is an issue when that only really applies to a few characters. People don’t even understand that there is actual counterplay to BC too with staggers / doing nothing to bait it. I’ll keep putting up the fight cuz I love GBVSR but it is so frustrating seeing the same and wrong complaints pop up about the game. Steamcharts folks are the worst. Those are the people you can’t even convince to play because they’re just grasping at straws at that point.
Yeah unfortunately there is a TON of bad faith when it comes to fighting game conversations, and it's been my mission statement to combat it wherever I can. It's a shame, things wouldn't be nearly as bad if the conversations surrounding the game weren't so overtly negative. People nowadays will take one negative thing they hear about games in passing and parrot it without understanding anything about it or even playing it
@@Khalil_Yeah by far the most frustrating thing isn’t even explaining things for people cuz I love to teach people, but even after explaining it they’ll continue to just disagree lmao. I def don’t place the blame wholly on people because first impressions are important and I think ppl are basing their opinions off the GBVSR beta and release. But 1.5 is in such a good spot right now balance wise with system mechanics and character balance, I’ve been trying to tell everyone to give it a second chance. At the very least the Gbvsr community is passionate and I see a lot of people trying to spread awareness for it and I’ll continue doing my part too. I hope CyGames just steps it up with the marketing, and does some of the things you suggested like just allowing DLC to be playable in the demo.
@@Jaded.1 I don’t think it’s wrong to see how lively a player base is, but a lot of people use it to bring a game down and as an excuse not to play it. In GBVSR’s case too, I can personally say that you don’t need to use Discord to find games. Furthermore, it doesn’t account that GBVSR is cross play, so the Steamchart numbers won’t account for how big the population actually is.
There's no skill requirement for passion! And yeah, fighting game devs/publishers still haven't really figured out reasonable monetization yet. I will say though it could be a TON worse lmao
Oh yikes this comment made me decide not to bother buying this - A mix of that and the fact gbvs players were shafted by having to pay full price for a rollback update (on the surface, I'm probably way off base). Thanks for saving me £40 😂
Well, nobody can force you to make any decision, but I will raise 2 points haha. 1. the game is 50% off rn 2. The battle pass is actually pretty solid all things considered. Yeah, I think a lot of people would like to have OSTs not exist in them (myself included), but a ton of others do find the skins and stuff you can get to be pretty good for the price (Like the narmaya, beatrix, & belial costumes) This is especially the case because you can just play the game, see how much you've leveled up the pass, then decide on whether you want to buy it or not since you can see your progress pre purchase. Again, your decision at the end of the day, just some things worth considering!
@RattleSack It's much bigger than a rollback update. Its essentially just a whole new game from how differently it plays from the base game. Give the free edition a shot and see what you think!
@@RattleSack Yea,like @khalil_ said, the game is still good, i didn't want to discourage people from buying, the battle pass is indeed a bit of shame by doing this stuff to OST i personally think but it isn't that bad to the point of making not worth buying, either way the game has a free mode you can play to test too.
The content creation point is so true! I think Brick and Diaphone are the only TH-camrs I've seen/watched when it comes to this game (outside of tournament stuff) and that is sad. There's a distinct lack of educational content too. You know, the thing a new player would want to watch when getting into the game? No one is putting in the effort :(
The fact that you found this video gives me hope! I think with the right change in attitude, we can get people to take the leap and do more with the game overall!
I've been play GBVSR for the last month near daily. I've got to say; this game has become a fighter I can enjoy after going through a patch of not knowing what FG I'd play next. Yes, I got the game because of 2B, but I am now interested in play others in the cast. Namely Charlotta atm. GB has helped me find a decent community that feels welcoming to be in. I've made several new friends because of it, I fight high level players to improve and it's encouraging to grow. This game has also been a motivator for me to overcome a lot of my anxiety playing others online and meeting new people who enjoy a similar interest. My thirst for improvement brings me back to GB daily. It's almost as if i'm addicted. Though, I can't help but notice that I want to participate in offline tournaments in the midwest (specifically my state). I actually wouldn't know where to find locals for this title as I hear the scene in my state is dedicated, but I haven't located such. Maybe I wouldn't know where to look or ask. I am open insight on that as I want to support the community and help it flourish. This game has to much potential within the greatness it already brings. But it's a slow burn with this one and that's okay. We just gotta come together and build it up!
Hi! I think I can help with that! Check this spreadsheet which lists a ton of locals all over the world. Hopefully there's some on there that aren't hard for you to get to! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rJdulqidZY_Cdw1S30aLXMFWzttaelxIKyaK-_uZbuc/edit?usp=sharing
I hope in the future we’ll see more variety in the content pool for gbvsr. If I can I would love to post a few videos about the game. Maybe some funny shenanigans with each character. But I agree. We as a community need to come together and create content. Show the world how fun this game can be ^.^
I like this game a lot but the lack of popularity really hurts the experience for me, specifically matchmaking taking too long and the repetitive player pool you’ll get sitting down for a play session. Sitting at S+1/S++5, Ranked matchmaking really struggles to populate that skill bracket without branching out really far in either direction.
one thing I think needs more attention in this game is the single player, not everyone wants to just play online over and over, a good offline mode that offered good leveling would help solve two problems at once, it would give the game more single player content, and it would likely help cut down on the afk farmers because honestly with how grindy they made cosmetics in this game, I honestly don't blame alot of afk farmers who just want to unlock cool things for their characters but are forced to play online (likely against the same few players over and over again)
yeah you're right, single player definitely needs work. People even considering to have to afk farm also brings down the experience for those who do actually want to grind. They def want people to grind for battle pass levels they should have some more avenues for that
I love this game myself, it's the first fighter that really clicked with me and helped me start intergrating myself to the community, but I'm always a bit hesitant about doing online play - I know myself and I know I can get really, REALLY hard on myself if I start eating Ls and seeing a rank or stat reflect that.
Taking accountability for your losses is an important step in FG improvement, but yes, there is definitely a limit. That's why I personally offer analysis sessions to my viewers that are looking to improve as it can be helpful to have another set of eyes on your gameplay (I also do talks on the mental aspect of FGs which is oh so important). Consider stopping by sometime if that's something that interests you!
Brand new player to the game, the only thing I want is more players. Please people, play this game. The game, to me, feels very fun and I love the art and the quality of the animation. The netcode seems very solid too.
bought the game two days ago. Never picked up a fighter before so this is my first but hey it's one of the few fighters that piqued my interest! Hopefully it grows more in the future
My main issue with this game is the strike throw game seems to favor the defender too much with L techs. Also it’s super duper knowledge check heavy. But my last straw was yuel getting nerfed. I’ll come back if they fix her
Similar but damn i just stopped after they somehow decided that ferry needed nerfs to balance out buffs that didnt even fix her main issue of fuck all reward on top of zoning being bad, then decided that belial deserved to be buffed
I can address some of the points mentioned in the tweet. It'll be a bit long, my apologies: Large cast, Crossplay, and being easy to pick up are a valid. The other things though: Good netcode. True, but there's no Wi-Fi indicator (at least, I didn't see one when I played). While the netcode for the game is great, I have no way of knowing if my opponent is on W-Fi before accepting a match. When I play Street Fighter 6, I can see my opponent's connection quality and type before I accept a match. Some may think: why play a game without a Wi-Fi indicator when I can play a game which has one? Free-to-play version. I would contest this somewhat. It's good to have a version which allows you to play for free, but the issue is character rotation. All characters don't appear equally. It would be different if it was Gran+the top left characters in week 1, then top middle week 2, top right week 3, etc. Or, the characters are put in a hat old-school style, and the ones which get picked in one week can't appear until all characters have shown up, then it begins anew. This isn't happening. I've seen Nier and Siegfried more often than I can count, or it's based on tournaments. I question this. And, it doesn't allow you to buy characters individually. DOA5LR/6 allow you to buy individual characters, DLC or otherwise individually. Granblue should allow this also, IMO. There are other problems: Questionable balancing and AFK farmers. For the former, they tend to leave problematic characters alone (or make them stronger!), while weaker characters--especially zoners/projectile-based characters--tend to get weaker. Granblue is no exception to this rule, sadly. For the latter: Due to the battle pass (another hated element in games recently), there are a lot of people who queue up for ranked because they have to do it to unlock cosmetics/other bonuses. These can only be unlocked by playing online. So they just go onto ranked and set the controller/keyboard down. Being able to unlock things offline would allow those who want to focus on cosmetics to do that without messing up the online play for those who want to play.
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to write out a response! I think we can all agree that there are definitely quality of life changes that would definitely be welcomed, for sure, and for most of them, I'd agree with you. Unfortunately though, we only really have indirect influence on those things since they can really only be changed on the developers end. I think we should absolutely keep being vocal about these things while at the same time making the changes on the community end that we can influence more directly. Thankfully, it's still really early into the games life, so there's still a good amount of hope that our concerns are addressed. We just have to do the best we can in the meantime
Tbh, regarding questionable balance, i think most devs try and make the gap between the strongest and weakest charas smaller, but in this case they decided to leave shit charas mostly as is, and then buffed a top tier, likely based on popularity. Thats not FG balancing, thats gacha game balancing (buffing the popular thing to get more ppl in, and nerfing the less popular one), and i think thats a major red flag for any FG player. Certainly did not help that they had THE shittiest reasoning ever for Ferry nerfs that blew up so hard it reached every single community in the FG space, and that the new reasoning they came up with was also a blatant lie cos they also buffed belial a on top of admitting he was already strong. Ppl can smell bullshit, and they are either balancing for scrubs, or have an internal bias for and against charas that leads them to disregard balance in some of their changes. A lot of ppl have kinda just lost trust in their balancing imo, and why would a new player want to invest time and get better if they might just get penalized for it. Most of the changes on most charas may have been good, but holy hell were the misses really bad. I think they really really need to buff ferry and yuel, and nerf the shit outta belial and make a big show of it, so ppl who care abt that sorta thing know that they are at least trying to get the balancing right
@@Khalil_ True. Looking back on it, I did come off as a bit of a hater, but make no mistake, I want Granblue to do well. It has the potential to do so, IMO.
@@garethcf1016 I had heard that this may have been because Belial had a skin out. I didn't want to put the tinfoil hat on, but there may have been some truth to that conspiracy theory.
@@MorganAndrew-Morganson-nu5oc May have been, I see no logical reason to buff this guy otherwise. He's popular either way, and skin or not he's historically bounced around the top 2, and the only time he was outside of that was rising launch where he was abt top 5. Thats still not how FG balancing is supposed to work tho. Ur supposed to bring em as close as possible, and they clearly have decided to do the exact opposite for the shittiest reasons. As far as I know, these guys are the only devs that have actually just decided to leave bottom tiers as is and buff a top tier no strings attached. And thats pretty concerning to me. Not to mention they already made the mistake of releasing this guy extra broken before only for him to kill the community extra dead. No idea why theyre pulling this again
I did want to play Rising a lot on release. What stopped me is multi-part. 1- having to lab out counterplay to a reversal. There is no reason why a DP reversal in the year 2024 should be a knowledge or reaction check. If i baited it, i shouldn’t have to think about WHOSE traditional DP i baited, i should just have a punish that universally works. Im more indifferent to this on supers, but labbing out arbitrary punishes in the game without a frame meter feels extremely counterintuitive in the game that is explicitly meant to be easy to get into. 2- Combo limit feels awful to work around. I’m not even a fan of ridiculously long combos, but even i sit here and im like “why are you STOPPING me from doing anything else?”. I should be able to just cashout all my skills and super in a combo if i so please. 3- I do not like the BP system. No, I don’t think the old OD system was better, I don’t actually particularly like either one, but god i don’t like being forced to manage a resource that directly corresponds to how much damage i take. I may have liked it more if it was easier to gain them and there were more uses than BC/raging strike, but there isn’t. 4- The degradation of Arcsys netcode. I am a unique case where most of the people i play games with live on the literal other side of the world. When I started playing fighting games, Strive was my first serious attempt at learning. Over the years that I played, i watched the netcode for strive get worse and worse until i was legitimately no longer able to play with my friends. Rising’s netcode released in the exact same state, minus the random disconnects and cab failures, which to their credit is a good thing, but not enough when SF6 rolled around with the open beta where even my worst connection with a friend was undeniably playable. 4 rollback in SF6 vs 7-8 in rising/strive means that even if we were to grow tired of sf, we still wouldn’t willingly fight each other in granblue. 5- Rage quitters and AFK farmers in ranked. Don’t think this needs elaboration. 6- lack of instant rematch, and i know it’s subjective, but im not always sitting down for 2+ hours, i do not have time for these long load times and intros every match anymore. I want more than 4 games in half an hour, and i feel like that’s not asking too much. All this culminates into a game that is not for me. I dont mind that, and i will never disrespect someone who enjoys this game, if there’s one thing i know, it’s that not everything has to be for me, and that it’s fine to not like things. I’d just, rather play a game i enjoy than sit and complain that the game i considered playing isn’t what i wanted, no matter how much i regret spending the money. I’ll still recommend others to give it a shot because they may enjoy it more than i did. My casual friends love it compared to sf or strive. That’s good enough for me.
I believe what you think is "the degradation of netcode" is just people naturally leaving the game (both Strive and gbvs) as we get further away from launch day. There are less people in the game, so you're forced to wait more for matches and settle for playing with people with bad connections. It's not a problem of the code per se as it is a problem of fighting games in general being unable to compete at the same level of popularity as Street Fighter or Tekken.
Hi! Thank you for taking the time to type this out, I'll try to give my thoughts on each thing you listed individually for clarity. 1. I could see how having to lab counterplay is annoying for things like that, but I will say that the contrary would homogenize the game and I do think it's valuable for characters to have unique traits and whatnot to give them their own identity. Also having specific knowledge of matchups is something that generally FG players hold in high regard. Game should absolutely have a frame meter (every FG should natively). At the very least, they seem to be making small improvements to training mode as time goes on so we can hope they continue that trend. 2. This is mostly preference so I can't really say much about this haha different strokes 3. This is fair, the BP system is not perfect, and yeah it would definitely be cool for them to have more diverse utility. I don't think that's off the table yet. Many FGs add mechanics to games as time goes on, so I don't think it's out of the question that there may be more uses in the future. I will say though for how strong some of the current uses are (namely Brave Counter) it does need to carry great consequence for how impactful it is. The resource game being important has an exclamation point on it when you suddenly can TOD'd for spending points with reckless abandon. Not saying it's the only way to do it, but more I think this is the logic they took with it 4. Can you be more specific with this? I'm not 100% on what you're referring to and I don't want to assume. 5. Yeah both need fixing asap, no question 6. Fast rematch is def something that would be nice. Time is the most valuable thing in existence so anything that helps people spend more time doing the things they like is valuable I have a lot of respect for you for acknowledging that sometimes a game isn't for you and that's ok. Even going above and beyond recommending it despite your personal preferences. Thank you for being a reasonable human being, FGC needs more people like you. I hope one day down the line you try the game again and you enjoy it more than last time!
@@Khalil_ I just got around to it, so I’ll elaborate a bit more clearly on 4- I happen to be an east coast player who, for multiple reasons, happen to mainly participate in an FGC subcommunity based in the Philippines. This has been the case since i joined the FGC during the first month of Strive’s release. At the beginning of Strive, I could play with the majority of players not just in the Phillipines, but also Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam. One of the current Capcom Cup qualifiers, Kaos, is from Vietnam, and happens to be a friend of mine, who i have played with almost daily since vanilla strive. Typical connection for me at this time would be 270 ping/7 rollback. By today’s netcode, this is REALLY bad, and considered unplayable, but when I started out, this was only a problem when I was fighting Potemkin, Chipp, or Millia. For Chipp and Millia, this is because they have moves that don’t play nicely with high rollback connections. If in 7 rollback, Chipp doing double jump j2K effectively looks like he jumped, did a +r teleport, jumped again, teleported slightly forwards, and then j2K appears instantly. Not much you can do about this, rollback is not very suited for movement that shifts the camera like that. Same deal with Millia air movement. For Potemkin, it’s just jumpscare pot buster, because it’s quite literally faster than the netcode. Annoying but I powered my way through, and in the process, made celestial twice in a row based solely on my own efforts. Fast forward a bit to when we start dealing with the streamer lobby hacking issue, and despite the connection itself not changing, not only are we dealing with hackerman crashing our stream lobbies, but some other characters are starting to become impossible to see. Nagoryuki starts to become a problem to see, Jack-o’s fireball starts becoming impossible to see the startup of, and my connection with Indonesia is fully unplayable, suddenly reaching 8 rollback, which was no good on release. At this point, several of us are getting frustrated because we can’t stream Strive, and no other fighter that we all owned had rollback. Fast forward a LITTLE further to post-hackerman situation and the connection with Singapore is now completely unplayable, with stability spikes more in line with NA>EU, but with SEA ping. We start encountering random slowdowns, full on desyncs, and Im left unable to play with around a quarter of the group. At this point, 5 rollback is starting to feel like what 7 did on launch, and my local matches are feeling slightly worse too. By the time GBVSR open beta is announced, we’ve gone through the Xrd and BBCF rollback betas, which were buggy but decent enough connections for the most part. We decided, since we couldn’t play vanilla together, we’ll fight each other in Rising instead. Not only were no connections improved, we ran into constant slowdowns with my friends in the Philippines, making it so I could only have a playable connection with my friends in NA or EU, of which there aren’t many, because we are an extremely widespread group of friends geographically. All of this for SF6 to be incoming, we tested our connections, and not only do we have the ability to play, but i can TRULY play with anyone in the world provided they use ethernet(naturally, even within the US, wifi is no-go for me). This leads to everyone in the group either dropping Strive and GBVSR for SF6 or simply retiring from fighting games until Tekken 8 or UNISC. As of the S4 update, I reinstalled both Strive and Granblue with the intention of giving them both another fair shot, and to their credit, I am enjoying both games far more now than when I dropped them, but I still cannot get a quality game with my friends outside of NA after further test play, and that’s a big turn off for me, as I mainly want to play with friends, not against a faceless profile in ranked or lobbies. I tend to skip over this, but I should note here that I notoriously do not play much ranked, unless I want to evaluate my progress in adaptation and neutral(hence why i only did celestial 3 or 4 times). I find ranked to be the easiest way to make myself look at a game negatively, and not doing it actively is helping me enjoy these games far more. Even though my granblue ranks are A at the highest, it doesn’t indicate my skill, it just reflects what i did on launch month. I probably would’ve continued begrudgingly if I had enough friends to play with, but alas, due to the above lack of improvement in netcode, I don’t. If I can’t play with my closest friends, I would genuinely rather not play at all, because that’s what makes the most fun for me, playing with people i know and enjoy the presence of.
I was noticing since day 1 that people just weren’t making barely any content for the game. I went looking for a character guide for Djeeta and there weren’t any for months. I had to just figure stuff out for her. Even then, the guides weren’t really complete or I didn’t learn anything new.
Yeah, I just picked up the game and damn is character resources barren. I look Percival dustloop and and it is outdated and only 25% done. No discord resources either just radnom threads.
Just bought this game. I am a few years into fgc and I try to try lots of games but my focus has far and away been street fighter 6. This was on sale and seems like something I could enjoy as a secondary game. I also didn't play Vanilla, and I'm also looking to play cotw when it comes out. But until then I wanted something to play when I'm not in the mood for sf6 and after a single day lol I'm happy with this. Looking forward to learning more from your video (I 'joined' the fgc in 2019 and I remember watching lots of gbvs on nlbc streams back then. Always looked really good to me I just neve jumped on board til now)
It’s not the main talking point but a small detail I heard and feel the need to correct it. The gacha game is a web browser game and the company (CyGames) do all the localization themselves. You can play in both languages. Again, it’s not the main point but I felt like it needed to be said 😂
Yeah someone else made this comment as well, that's a misconception on my part! Though apparently you still need a certain account for it as opposed than needing to emulate (Feel free to correct me on that if I'm wrong). Still think that a small barrier will be enough justification for people to be lazy and not try, but definitely not nearly as bad as I thought it was so thanks!
I really like watching GBVSR more than playing it, original GBVS is one of my favorites so it's really hard for me to enjoy it without comparing my time in both. I enjoyed the slower pace of games and having to interact more per round to win but at launch of GBVSR it wasn't rare to 2 touch your opponent with the damage increase from BP , and winning or losing I wasn't enjoying it. I try to come back every now and then but I just keep up to date on content which has been a little scarce if it isn't just a tournament VOD.
This is totally fair! It's definitely not for everyone and content is one of the main things holding it back I think. Not many people out there showing how fun being involved with the game can be (yet)
The part about negativity hit the nail on the head. Negativity like that feeds on itself and destroys constructive conversation. I actually quit for about 2 months because of the 2B backlash. It was a constant stream of negative feedback that I've grown all too accustomed to in other FGs. Every ranked session had 8 or 9 RQers, people openly dodged me in the NA lobbies, discredited when talking about MUs or asking/giving advice, and generally hearing GBVS players talk about the character was always negative for "not playing the game". I'm used to this type of thing (played 17 + Fusions in FighterZ), but I genuinely just didn't want to deal with it when I could do anything else for fun. I did hop back on when she was eventually nerfed, but I can tell I've been playing less.
Yeah, this is a real problem in a ton of parts of the FGC at this point. That's why I've made it a point to promote actual constructive conversation in my personal community. If you ever want to be a part of it, feel free to stop by sometime!
It would be so cool if I could buy a handful of characters. I am very much a character loyalist, but I can't justify buying a full price game just to play Vaseraga, or to go it alone. I'd cave if a couple of my FG friends came with, but they're busy keeping up with SF and GG Strive.
I'll be back with my opinion. I seek to listen to this whole video before speaking. I have a hunch about most o these issues and seek to hear you out 🤝 Trust I'll have words knowing me lol
Rising has been my favorite game of the year. I'm not a tourney player but I love the system, there's enough people in the lobby for me to get games against, and I love the IP and what surrounds it. It's a shame to see people hate on different games still to this day. I'm very excited for the future in season 2 and what changes come about from it.
Thank you! Sorry for the lack of SA mentioned, probably just didn't cross my mind during the rant lmao. Though I've spoken with some players like Shirou so I know you guys are very much around! May try to put something together so y'all can be showcased to NA audiences a bit more. Stay tuned!
I think part of the content gap issue is a perpetuation cycle. there's few content creators for the game, and anyone looking to do that won't try and push to be a content creator because nobody is creating content for the game from a personal perspective, I have a lot of issues with how the inputs feel compared to other games. I still want to see granblue still get more traction tho.
Yes absolutely! It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy of sorts. But if we all take the leap together, then it's much easier for people to see why it's valuable. As for your preferences, that's totally fair. All perspectives are valuable here
I'm kind of interested with Granblue, should I start with this game (GBVSR ) or should I play the other one? also I just want to add as someone who doesn't know anything about Granblue the naming of the games is confusing.
GBVSR is the newest installment with all of the active players, so it's absolutely fine to jump into this one especially because there's a free version you can try before you buy! I think the main reason people would play the original at this point would be for the RPG mode if they're interested in that. But there's also an entire standalone RPG game called Relink so probably not as common anymore. Anyway, Rising is where you want to go!
I love the game. I have the Platinum Trophy in Rising and the original Versus game. Vikala is freaking amazing, and the series, in general, is Phenomenal, like AJ Styles. I can't see people hating this game. Sure, it's not Street Fighter, it's not KOF, it's not Tekken, it's not Guilty Gear, but it's an amazing game. I love it. I hope others learn to love it, too. It's an Amazing Fighting Game for an Amazing Franchise. I do stream it on Twitch, from time to time.
I think it's s good game even though I'm not very good at it. The free version is the reason I started to learn and stick with a fighting game. However, I can't recommend this game to others when rage quitting without penalty still exists. It's very frustrating when you're trying to climb as a new player and hard work gets denied, it's deflating. As for content, more teaching resources for new players would be helpful
Yeah this frustration is valid, though I will honestly say I don't think a single fighting game atm punishes rage quitters nearly as hard as they should LMAO. That being said, maybe they will make strides in this department with the ranked update of next patch. We can only hope.
Honestly out of most fighting games this is the most fun and personally the most balanced. The playerbase is low for some reason but the game itself is really amazing and could be even better over time
@@GodfreyEnjoyer1 Well, theyd have to make balance decisions that don't widen the disparity between the top and bottom for it to get better over time. Buffing Belial, nerfing yuel, and not really fixing Ferry's issues sure as hell dont seem to do that. Especially not for the reasons (or lack thereof) they did it for.
I won't lie to you, I'm sure there were plenty of us casuals who were waiting for it to get cheaper and then just forgot about it lol. I have fantasy versus already and $50 for a game that was essentially an update on the surface, with a new character or 2, is a hard sell to a casual. Also, I've never been a fan of the f2p style of here's 2 or 3 rando characters lol. So I didn't even bother. Particularly when there's so many good games out there like mentioned in the beginning of the video
Yeah that's fair, it is finally on sale though! 50% off on steam until November 5th. Single player stuff def needs more to it, I wonder if that's something they'll consider
i bought the game at launch and ngl i kinda hated it compared to the OG the 66ls, brave stuff and nier kinda turned me off. But i tried a bit after Beatrix came out and and tried out 2B and she was one of the most fun movesets ive played recently. i havent played since the Beatrix update, and during the time it still felt pretty rough to get into(yall are really good ngl)
Where I live the game is popping right now, Strive is pretty much dead here and that coupled with a bunch of former SF6 players make up the small scene here, but the fact that it displaced Strive gives me hope for the future. I also got 3 people to play the game, which helps. It's all relative
Devs did a really poor job with balancing the game at the beginning. People complained about 66L since beta, Nier was absolutely obnoxious for months. Then it was 2B, then it was Batrix, then they left Belial untouched, buffed Lucillius and nerfed Yuel like what the hell? I imagine a lot of players left because some matchups just felt too unfair. You can't be so sloppy with the balance when your game is so niche.
Kudos for trying to get the scene more noticeable. I just kinda fell out of the game. The more I played the more I disliked it. And no matter how many breaks or mindset resets I do it just makes me angry to play. So now I just play Djeeta(a char I never know would grow on me but that changed cuz of relink and the anime and even princess connect) and Sandalphon when hes out(shares #1 spot with my fav girl Ilsa) and play just when I think, guess I play a bit of rising. Dont get me wrong I originally liked the game but somehow it just turned south for me and to make sure I keep my love of the ip cuz I play the browser game I just play when I feel like it. Maybe one day I'll like the game again but as of right now, waiting for sandalphon and praying Ilsa and Monika gets in.
You did the right thing! You gave it a fair shot, recognized that maybe it wasn't for you currently, and didn't develop a toxic relationship with the game. I think the game still has a lot of changing it will do it's lifetime, maybe the next big patch will change things for you. Thank you for commenting!
To preface, I don't play this game. I wanted to, but it's not for me. I ran onto vanilla late in its life and the DLC was quite the turn off so I said no thanks. The gameplay, the knuckle-biting neutral was awesome to me and fun to watch. With the announcement of Rising, it seemed like a great time to jump in. Only it wasn't. I'm so glad this had a free version because it saved me money. Rising is basically just wearing the skin of the vanilla game in my opinion. The gameplay is so different that it is a huge turn off. I never even played to the point of meta complaints. For me, without going into fine detail, the brave point system is ill-conceived. The game gives so much meter that there's almost no point I didn't just expect to have meter to do my attacks. One of the worst offenders is the button input reader. It's so bad that I was getting SBA or DPs off single 236 inputs. Sure, sure, use the easy inputs....no thanks. There's other stuff like almost no grounded overheads and accidentally mashing out of grabs consistently that made the game feel incredibly dull, too. This plays so different from vanilla that I wonder why those players stuck around(if they did). I couldn't get into this at all. I'd buy stuff for vanilla right now but they never put it on sale anymore! Oh, and I couldn't use my standard nickname because it had a "bad word" in it. The netcode is solid and it's still one of the most amazing looking games I've seen in a while. Kudos to the people who enjoy Rising. To address some other stuff said, I don't have the time to play more than one game if even that. With how fast things are updated, I do not want to put time in just to have it washed away when I only had a tenuous grasp on things in the first place. It heavily discourages playing fighters at all with this constant need to update and balance. Playing multiple modern games is a waste of time, literally(this isn't directed at any specific game). Older games are set in stone for the most part and I'd argue are far better investments of people's time. I don't watch any content creators other than tournaments sometimes. That's how I saw this video! Stuff that exists outside the games is largely irrelevant to me. Lastly, I wish DNF didn't get dumped on so hard. That is one of the most exciting games to watch and play.
I just bought the game on PS5 for 50% off. More of a SF 6 player but I wanted to try this game. Not a fan of MK 1 and Tekken 8 didn’t click with me. I don’t think it will overtake SF6 as my main game but I would like to get decent at it.
Hey, welcome! I hope you enjoy your time playing! Feel free to reach out if you need to be connected to some of the community and events we have going on!
I'm gonna speak out of my own experience, I play a very small part in the current granblue community, like, miniscule, I just help at times run an online monthly for the game, and I agree with a lot of what you're saying, in my opinion, there's a combination of factors as to why the gran blue isn't bigger, like you already said, is a big IP but outside of NA, and NA is so lazy and entittled that is hard to get through the community in that sense, because the game has everything , gameplay, connection, A FREE VERSION that is fully compatible with the paid version outside of very small things, the game is street fighter, but faster, but not dumb down to the level of strive, i'm gonna tell you a story about tatsunoko vs capcom, the game was pretty much set to die because it only had 1 evo and marvel 3 was announce not long after it's release for the world, I pretty much dedicated my entire being to labbing and creating content for the game, guides, combos for every single character, tech, glitches, I pretty much single handedly kept the game in some relevant state due to my videos poping out from time to time in places like srk and eventhubs, right now is a discord fighter, but you can see the game be on events like frosty and combo breaker at times, while I never had the chance to travel due to money and being in mexico, the online for dolphin allowed me to compete and earn my place as one of if not the best player for the game, if tatsunoko could survive for so many years, granblue should too, but it has one last issue, that I feel it hadn't being discuss, as is not the content, but the kind of content that you can produce with fighting games, combos, guides, tech and whatnot, that is what you can produce, and that drives people to see if there's something in there for them, and like you point it out, youtube is basically nothing but ranked, but granblue, despise being a great game and having excellent gameplay, it has a huge issue with content, because you can't be creative, there's an inherit limitation with the combo system in granblue, that no other game has, and is the cooldown system, couple with a strict combo limit, it's incredibly difficult to produce content for the game, because lets face it, the general viewer would see a combo and be like, "that shit looks fire, I wanna try that" but with granblue, the combos are either the same or extremely restrictive, a freeform characters like pre nerf nier and cag are better on matches than in combo videos, is just not the same feeling, and I think this is one of biggest issues with the game. I like granblue, and I think is a great game, but I would much likely gonna drop it once 2xko comes out, mostly for how free form the combo system felt, but that's just me, if anything, 1 person can make the difference for granblue, like with what I did for tvc, it just need either one dedicated player that constantly put up content for it, or a group of people constantly pumping life to it through social media for it go up in the numbers that it should, given how good it is of a game, the player base is not low by any means, is just that it's not a big as it should be.
Yo! This is such a cool story and I completely understand where you're coming from as I also took it upon myself to keep a game alive through COVID so I understand how much hard work and dedication it takes, and I thank you for choosing to do it! Yeah so what you're saying can absolutely be a factor, but I do wonder how much of a factor it is for greater playerbases. I only ask because while combos may feel restrictive in some cases to those who are seasoned FG players, I can't tell you how many times I've heard about people not playing a game because "Combos are too long" and "I never get to play" LMAO. I do think it will turn off some people, I just wonder what the trade off looks like on a bigger scale. But yeah you hit the nail on the head (I think some people took this video as me dooming when it's not LMAO). It's not that the game isn't doing well, it's that I just see the potential and if we are going to get anywhere close to that, there's definitely work to be done. Thank you so much for commenting!
Man as someone who doesn't play any granblue games at all I never realized that folks weren't making stuff for this game. This game basically doesn't exist 99% of the time as far as the YT algo is concerned too. Vikala just dropped and there was a spike of interest that led me to this video but once thats died down this game probably wont show up on my feed until the next major content release. That's from content creators who don't even cover this game regularly. I also wanna say i just type in granblue fantasy and there isn't even stuff that comes up for the adjacent games. TH-cam is weird like that.
It can definitely be odd, but if a bunch of people watch this video and decide to take the leap and start making some content, I think we can combat it to some extent haha. You're right though, the world of the YT algorithm is a weird one
The ragequitting thing is fair! (Though I'm not sure how many people actually choose not to play because of it). The balancing thing funny enough things are in a pretty alright spot atm. That being said, it is pretty early into its lifespan and things can change pretty drastically with major patches so who knows where it'll end up lmao
Hmm, I can't speak as much on that since I'm not from EU, but I do know they have a pretty decent infrastructure for events when we consider Hardedge Weeklies, Dunkin Yips, WANTED, etc. I'm not sure if you've ever tried to get involved with any of those, but you should check them out if you haven't! Even if you don't want to necessarily compete, you should find some players that are willing to grind with you!
Huge fan of the game, I tell everyone. Wish I was better so I could put more content out lol. I got 1 new player from getting them to try free after 6 months swearing it is good
Trust me when I say, there's no minimum skill requirement when it comes to creating content (though I could see why you feel that way). Sometimes you just gotta think outside of the box! Glad you're enjoying yourself and even getting others to try!
@Khalil_ I struggle with my right hand after being electrocuted. Don't think people wanna watch the old guy drop BnBs much lol. If I hit S rank I'll be happy (currently maxed at A2) Granblues accessibility let me play fighting games again without feeling like trash lol
@@Krimson62I think the thing is we do need to see the average guy drop a combo cause all people see are the greats and that's not good to build players. My confidence is straight shook because I can't do what the good Zeta players are doing, where the normal people at lol
Honestly, you'd be surprised! I think someone working through their disability is something that a lot of people could get invested in and build connections upon. Not to directly compare struggles or anything like that, but players like BlindWarriorSven and Brolylegs still have/had big communities behind them. I think it's already inspiring that you're keeping at it despite your challenges! I wish for the best for you!
I dunno if it's been said, but the gacha is a browser game 😂 Literally if you have a browser, you can play the gacha. Both on PC and phone. Granted, I think you need a Mobage account or some other unusual account, so that is a bit of a pain, but it's not nearly as annoying as emulating a JP account or whatever. Also keep in mind, the game has had English translations for YEARS. The biggest issue I feel Granblue as an IP has is that Cygames does NOTHING to market it to the NA audience. They only ever focus on their JP player base. That, and ever since the release of Genshin, Mihoyo has practically a monopoly on the NA gacha market, and Granblue is VERY VERY different from Genshin.
Agreed! Cygames should be translating everything to EN (Like Granblue Fantasy Fest someone else mentioned), it would make such a huge difference. And yes, while the gacha isn't as annoying to play as some others, I promise you so many people have been turned off from playing because they don't want to go through the trouble of making that account no matter how easy it is. If we are comparing games that take 0 effort and games that take miniscule effort, there is still an infinite difference (At least in the minds of average consumers). Miyoho does have the market in a vicegrip that's 100% correct haha
Honestly game is great. Worst part is having to get to level 50 in grand bruise. I dont want to, and yet its the last trophy i need for platinum. Damn it. Buff Soriz.
@Khalil_ Word? I know it was just Mars fighting the good fight in vanilla because he sucked but I always loved in games with swords and axes and the like, the one guy who just punches everything. I'll have to watch some tourney footage then, thanks.
yeah! Coach Steve has switched to a Soriz/Belial dual main (He defaults to soriz then counterpicks belial if he needs it). Skyll from Europe is doing the same thing with Soriz/Siegfried as well
I love that the defense of the gameplay is "yeah, but you have to pick your poison" which usually refers to a few characters/mechanics and not core aspects of all parts of the gameplay
With all due respect, those "few characters and mechanics" can make up a huge part of the game in and of themselves depending on said game. And on top I've heard plenty of complaints about some FG's entire systems (Drive System, Heat System, etc). Not everyone despises every aspect of this game as much as some make it seem! That's all I'm saying. The "Pick your Poison" statement I believe holds true for EVERY FG, not just this one!
@@Khalil_ That's fair. I hear a lot of complaints about the drive system, although I hear that the drive system also gives solutions to those problems.
yeah the drive system def has more aspects to it, but there were definitely times where things wer every imbalanced. Like for a long time, drive rush was insanely strong (it still is really strong) but drive reversal was unusable pretty much. DI was hated amongst newer players, and some disliked the idea of burnout. But thankfully, over time/patches, they've managed to make things more even. I think that could be the case for GBVSR as well. I think Season 2 is likely where we potentially see bigger adjustments to the BP system. Maybe more ways to use the points and adjustments to BC. Only time will tell though, I'm pretty optimistic because it's still really early in the games life personally haha
What to do now? i think nerfing Belial is a good start. Also buffing characters that actually need it like ferry or yuel. Not having stupid reasonings like "skill gaps" as reasoning for nerfs would also be good. Tbh, not really sure why ppl would trust their balance team at all after that, especially if they never played the game before. I sure as hell dont and I really really wanted to like the game. And it definitely reached ppl who dont even play the game, why would they play the game and invest time to get better, after hearing that they would get penalized for getting better
Sup! I saw you comment a few times, but I think it's best to address here since this is standalone. Honestly, from my perspective, explicit balance isn't as big a factor as it might seem (directly). I think the bigger impact is how people talk about certain characters especially on social media. Like yes, the ferry thing is funny, but at the same time, the changes were clearly made because less experienced players were having a hard time with her. And yeah, that can feel bad to the competitive core, but we aren't the only ones being catered to when it comes to FGs. I actually think one of the biggest misses with this game is not appealing to casuals enough with extra content like single player, offline grand bruise, etc. Because of that, everyone no matter how hardcore or casual they are has to play online. And since that is the case, you have to take their perspective into account to some extent when balancing is in question. The ferry meme itself being spread so far has actually done more damage to the game than the ferry changes themselves. There will always be characters that are stronger and characters that are weaker. There's no way to have a perfectly balanced fighting game, so what they (every fighting game dev) should also focus on is making sure every character has a unique and appealing identity and that the system that the characters exist in allow for that expression. There will ALWAYS be changes that some people like and some people dislike, that's kind of the beauty of it in a way. Yes Belial is very strong, but he's not so much stronger than the rest of the cast that they can't compete. Yes ferry is on the weaker side, but she has enough flexibility that she still not only sees tournament play, but solid results especially here in NA. There's just nuance to characters and how they interact deep than Nerf the strong and buff the weak. The WAY that you're strong matters as well as how your weaknesses manifest. Original Nier being top tier wasn't the issue necessarily, it was that she was a rule breaker which lead to the rework. Aside from that, some of things you complained about (Balancing on popularity, etc) exists in every major franchise to some capacity. Especially when we talk about DLC characters, so I don't really think that's something that you can fault this game with and not others at the same time. We can argue that it shouldn't exist at all, but we don't really have control over that aspect of the game which is why it's a little counterproductive to focus on it super heavily. Yes, we can have discussions and push things in a direction that the community wants, but everyone has vastly varying perspectives on what a game should and should not be that no matter what there will always be people that are displeased, no game can be perfect. Their patches overall for this game so far have been pretty good, and I don't think we should take that for granted
@@Khalil_ yeah, for the most part, I agree. My main point is that they lost the trust of hardcore/ ppl wanting to get better as a result of their misses in their patches. The Ferry changes were not inherently that bad, she isnt worse than before tho if she were i think Ferry players would riot cos she really needed and still does need help. But while no FG can be perfectly balanced for sure, its the dev's responsibility to try their best to make it that way, and buffing a top tier while being hesitant to do anything for the bottom runs counter to that. I understand that they wanna cater to casuals or ppl who dont wanna invest time to get good at the game, but they shoulda done that in the ways you suggested, more game modes, single player stuff, maybe even a mode where u fight with power ups like dbfz raids. NOT by fking over ppl who took the time to get better artificially like this. Nothing should ever penalize an individual for having skill, and they literally limited skill expression for a struggling character cos ppl didnt wanna learn the matchup. Again, why would anyone want to invest time into getting better at something if they might just be penalized for it? And thats the message they sent, regardless of the other changes, because they stepped in the wrong direction and tried to make it sound like it was right. Also balancing for popularity is always a thing sure, but in an FG, that really should be secondary to overall balance. In this case, its pretty clear that it wasnt. They didnt even give a reason for buffing him. They just went "yeah he's strong, here are more buffs", and when compared to Ferry's reasoning, even after they changed it, its BS, and im sure im not the only one who feels that way. In the end, the point is that they lost player trust. Some, like myself, left the game tho are watching the balance patches in case they get it right. Others just wont start cos why would they? For reasons i mentioned above. Even if theres no monetary cost, it costs them time, and unless they think its worth it, nobody would start. Thats why i think they need to make a show of buffing bottom tiers and nerfing the top like belial. To show that they are stepping towards the right direction. It wont win everyone over, they only got themselves to blame for that, but it would at least bring ppl like myself back. As for what we can do, they do have a feedback page so I would recommend at least putting stuff to em there to show that ppl are unsatisfied. Could also go on platforms for more publicity but that might just kill the game
I was already intersted in the game before and I recently found out about the free version. I tried it, I did a little bit of the story mode, went to train with Katalina and had a lot of fun with her. She felt like a character I could main and play for hours. But the next day to my surprise she wasn't playable anymore and I couldn't see myself training with another character. I'm not saying the other characters aren't interesting, I just wanted to learn the game with her. It would be cool if some characters could be bought with an in-game currency. I would've played with another character just to have the ressources to buy her.
Oh that's cool! Katalina is actually super strong right now as well haha. Yeah a play to earn characters kind of thing would be cool. I know you can buy DLC characters with enough in game currency but I don't think that exists for base characters. The game is currently 50% off on steam though! Idk if that changes anything for you, but I know a lot of people are grabbing it while it's much cheaper. Thanks for commenting either way!
Nobody does RPG modes/tower challenges with gears and stuff videos which is weird to me, it has a lot to digest and a lot of newcomers are not confortable palying against player but ok playing solo content.
Belial is a very strong all arounder so he has tools for pretty much any and every situation. So I don't think anyone would disagree that he's hard to fight haha
i love gbvr more then almost any other fighting game thing i dont like are mashing out of grabs and broke characters im a 2b main and she is nuts and doesnt belong in the game she is crazy and alot of people say she shouldnt be in the game if they fix grabs and make it the old game way where to tech you need to press grab buttons
Cygames should translate Granblue Fantasy Fest 2024 to get internation audience. Its very frustrating watching because most of people dont know japanese.
I played Nier when I first played this game I wasn't really into the series before but a friend sent me the trailer for her and I was excited to play her, literally the only reason I got the game was to play nier 😅 but when we played I got nothing from him but complaining every fight even tho he was winning because he's just better at fighting games but I just got sick of it because every time I even loaded the game I was met with toxic posts about Neir players, the fact that shes been nerfed like 6-7 times now and he's still complaining has just kept me from playing it again and its a shame cuz I really enjoyed it but hey at least he's having fun on it
It took them way too long to gut nier and the devs seem stuck on 66L even though 100% the game would be better without it. I love the game but it almost feels like its a good idea to go full hiatus until season 2 sando hits and everyone who played competitive comes back.
I think in regards to the 66L thing they want to go the route of balancing around it instead of direct removal. They have tried nerfing it already, but still feels really potent, so I think we're going to see small nerfs on it periodically until it reaches a certain point. Perhaps that will be in the S2 update, only time will tell, but I think the game will probably change a ton at that point
Every time I saw people talk about this game, content creators or top players or randoms, it was to to trash on it. People really love to hate this game, its the worst game of the decade apparently. It got really tiresome so I ended muting anything related to the game on (ex)bird app. I love the game, hate the community/what I see online.
Yeah this is totally fair. Social media involving this game has been really ugly. Just know that there are good sub communities out there, they just aren't nearly as vocal as the negative ones (Probably because they're busy actually playing the game haha)
12:40 -> The fighting game space is a bit more diverse than that. They go to certain publishers who are legacy (Capcom) and Ark Sys is smaller but gives a unique experience (anime unga). Cy Games is competing in this space but I found their competitor is actually SNK. For context, SNK failures with KoF 15 gave them a chance but they fumbled with GBVR. The second roll around (Rising) They hit a mark and kept going. Their problem is that SNK is linking up with Capcom and pushing City of the Wolves and you're correct that the marketing isn't better. I may not play the game but they need to work on expanding to places that I'm seeing which hasn't happened outside of watching a few Brick videos.
Don't need to play in order to be a part of the community! And yeah, I hope that Cygames shifts focus when it comes to this game, but in the meantime I'd like for us to focus on what WE can do without kinda waiting for them to "Save" us ya know?
@Khalil_ Well, just finished the video so you have a good few ideas but I'll point out a few criticisms as an FG Casual. For perspective, I play retro games and playing games with that community. I can't play SF6 on my rig (for now) unless it's the only thing running. The question I have to ask myself as I look at Steam or Fightcade is "Why? " For me, that falls onto trying to learn Don Hwan (Garou) for the time being. But that can change. The reason for that is I'm sure different people are open to a new experience and GB certainly has that. My problem comes in the next step. As you laid out, there's little newcomer content or anything besides ranked matches. Character backgrounds and other details are not covered in the community. And how many people played the RPG? How many people translate that to players of other fighting games? Your other ideas sound appealing as well but I'd be averse to trying to convert gacha players since the community is so small right now. In the past, what worked to grow the community was more internal. Third Strike and MvC2 grew in arcades with people learning after a generation who were stuck on the old games and their experiences. Point being that you might find success translating other games and pointing out common stuff to other fighting games first. An example is that right now the KoF community is stagnant. The big focus is on City of the Wolves, and Vice and Mature don't come out until next month. An appeal to them wouldn't hurt. Likewise, the SamSho community is mainly playing SS2 and SS5 so playing games with them might be interesting. Which gets me into the next point: a Diplomacy tour with other fighting games could help everyone. Simply put, the Sajam Slam for SF6 brought people from Tekken (Brawlpro, philDX) into another game. Rising tide lifts all boats. Final thing is communication. Simply put, I don't use Twitter as much as I used to. I know some of the FGC is splitting off to Blue sky. The negativity can do that much damage to a person so those that utilize it should really consider building up their ability to speak. Overall, the video is pretty good and I did subscribe. I'd say that maybe consider making it a monthly video where it becomes [The state of the game] to entice a more critical view.
First Granblue fantasy is actually a WEB BROWSER game no hoop required and the english translation is official and needs no external programs or Apps to activate it, it's actually not difficult just go to their website. Second: How to fix this game? stop buffing Belial every patch. Stop making all "boss characters" stupid good and sometimes stupidly easy on purpose undermining half of the cast just because they are "big powerful villain". There's a good game in GBVSR but there's a clear preference of making some characters stronger "just because they should be" They really need to take balance seriously, because a lot of character are unfairly easy to play and ok if you want to make an easy character I don't have an issue against it, but damn son don't make them clearly top tier on purpose. Hey maybe it's just myself, but It's kind of insulting how a character like Belial/Lucilius pressures and does their frametraps, compared to others like Yuel or Lowain where everything is heavily minus and it's really easy to know where their pressure stops. So imagine if a new player sees like "oh I love this Lowain guy he looks funny" he picks it and doesn't know how to pressure well because his pressure is kind of hard to understand and then they have to face a Belial pressing 5MMM > EX wheel > Overhead/low mix like a complete Orangutan and being +50 on any close interaction. It's not funny to a new player and it's not funny when you see the same thing for thousands of matches. And it's not even a Belial thing, Versusia kind of has the same thing with her enhanced followups every one of them is at minimum +5 IIRC. Lucilius you gotta react to a very specific move and do a forward dodge or he can pretty much get you in a situation of infinite blocking. You could argue that "well they can pick them" but people don't have the mentality of "I'm gonna pick the top tier" they want to pick the cool character that catched their eyes. I LOVE the game but there's some characters that it's like "oh here we go again"
I think it's not that, it's mostly the fact that they simplified the system too much, if they delete the squares system and buff the buttons like it was in versus it would be perfect, together with deleting the combo limit, most if not all the people that I make play granblue leave saying the combos are too boring and that they hate the combo limit, deleting the squares (that also they and everyone I know hate) and instead buffing the normal buttons and throws (making the combos different without combo limit) would make the game far better IMO
The TH-cam channels I watch for anime fighting games. They were heavily into grand blue versus But for Granblue versus rising they might’ve uploaded two videos on the game so I just felt like no one within my TH-cam circle cared about this game. Also I don’t like how they handled the battle pass. it’s filled with worthless crap And 1 skin. OK maybe it’s not as bad as street fighter and Mortal Kombat but that doesn’t mean this is good either. Alternate colors COOL. They’re all that same crimson blood red. 1 skin so it’s only a real value to whoever plays this one character specifically. Honestly I think people are just buying the battle pass for the coins. Oh so this game doesn’t even have fight money!! Where I was before I quit I no longer care about honest fights anymore I’m just playing to grind my Dailies. This is just another crappy gotcha that I have to play every day. Only my first three matches matter They forced me to play every day but they don’t reward me to play very long. And by the nature of being an online fighting game often my first opponent is incredibly annoying. This is yet another digital job I just want my money I would prefer to just steam roll my opponent But they just so happen to be fighting back. Man, fuk the other guy for simply fighting me in a fight game. Like what an asshole. OK sure you got me playing every day but I’m not having any fun even a little bit I just want my money. This is why I quit. That in despite it being a technically free game you can’t grind it without PlayStation plus
I love a lot of things about the game. Don't like some others. Overall I'd say it's a good/above average game that I'd mess around in from time to time, but wouldn't actually be passionate about unless they really spiced up the overall amount of complexity they allow in each character's kit. BUT The controls kill it for me. 1 button specials with almost no downside. Block button. Dash button. I can't speak for anyone else, but these in particular are my line. Some more than others. There are some games where I can tolerate a dash button despite the fact that I'd really rather it didn't exist, but the other two are HARD nos for me. The funny part is that I don't even mind 66L that much. lol
I recently took a break the game cause im just so tired of not improving, ive been stuck in S rank since launch and being a Zeta main is suffering when you're not good at the game. I researched the few good Zeta players and it just doesn't help me cause the character just looks so random at high level play. Im so lost man, and i just don't know what to do, other Zeta players are so anti social and just dont like helping people out. Sorry for the rant, I needed to vent lol I do think GBVSR is doing a great job, legit was the best game at EVO 24 and no one outside the community talked about which is a shame. Game is cool, I just wish I was better at it
Hey, no need to apologize. Fighting games are frustrating to improve in especially when it feels like you're doing it alone. Not to advertise, but I do VOD review/analysis for subs on my Twitch channel every week if that's something you'd consider in the future. I have done a lot of coaching (even for some that have become world champions) and I'd love to help you if you're open to it! We're all in this together. It's a community for a reason
The game is just lacking in basic mechanics that Arksys games are known for, like air dashes, air combos, and a Roman cancel equivalent. I'd personally be willing to give Rising a try if it had those specific 3 things
@@jakekekw8290 I bought the collector's edition of the first game and no-lifed the gacha. Fundamentally, this game doesnt seem to be pulling in players with how it is
@@itsmekeee y'see, that's the funny part. Every body else _is_ playing those other games. Or maybe other ones like SF, KoF, or Tekken. That's why this video exists lol, to highlight that it isn't growing in-spite of what it offers
i love the game and have like 600 hours logged across both PS4 and PC but honestly the biggest thing that prevents me from recommending it more is how much insane bigotry and toxicity i see in the guestbook. i'm trans, almost all my friends are trans, and it's hard to big up a game to my friends when i know they're gonna boot it up and get smacked in the face with that. it's especially disappointing because i know from firsthand experience how NOT representative that is of the community as a whole. but because it's front and center in the game client itself it builds a strong negative impression of what kind of people you are gonna meet playing this game, especially to the folks who are just casually checking the game out and don't know all the discords. even though i wasn't a huge fan of the system changes from vanilla making the game less neutral-oriented, even though we had to suffer through the Winter of Nier, even though they crippled my gal yuel in the patch, i'm still diehard in love with the game itself. picked up kat recently and am having a blast playing every night. but if i had never heard of this game before and someone told me to check it out TODAY, i probably woulda bounced off quick because of how bad a first impression the game gives of its community. cygames needs a real human moderation system if they're gonna be running an in-game BBS, this is basic internet 101 shit.
Yeah you're right, they definitely dropped the ball on managing guestbook and it should've been pretty easy to predict how it would go. Those people, as you said, are definitely NOT the community that I've come to be a part of, and I'm sorry you even have to deal with stuff like that. I definitely would look into joining the community of some creators/streamers of the game since they have the means to remove stuff like that if they see it. Thanks for responding!
It's hilarious and ironic of there being bigotry in a Granblue game of all games, because the og mobile game has a ton of LGBTQ+ characters, especially trans characters 😂 So does the fighting game.
@@akabkb6692 a lot of the guestbook stuff feels like twitch chat syndrome and i want to believe isn't actually representative of the community being overly transphobic/toxic imo... but i could totally be wrong too lmao
The Capcom cabal and its useful shills clearly don't want this game to succeed as it is a direct competitor and they need to suck Capcom's schlong about SFVI and shill that slime rush simulator endlessly. This is why you rarely, if ever, see the larger part of the popular FGC talking about this game As a vanilla player, I'd say this game does have its problems but it's the only one with pure FG and aesthetic soul in it (and there's no ugly woke crap which is also what the current neo-progressive FGC doesn't like) It's disappointing and sad how much it flopped. Season 2 will be the final cope
66L. That's the reason, that will always be the reason, no amount of nerfing or beating around the bush is going to stop that from being the reason. Doesn't matter what the people playing the game think, that's what everyone who isn't playing the game thinks. And yes, they are the majority. You're welcome.
They took the best neutral game since CVS2 and made it feel like random mashing bullshit blazing. There's way too many bullshit anime games in the market, there's not a single one neutral footsies heavy game anymore, they had a unicorn and they killed it. So long as they keep trying to force it to be Strive- instead of VS+, it's not gonna gain back the loyal audience the original game had. Making it more like Strive is the absolute worst thing they could have done. Haters have always been around. Nothing Sajam does now will walk back the damage he did to Vs and DBFZ with the "us vs them" rollbackia bullshit. But Versus had an army of lovers CyGames chose to betray by turning the game they championed against all odds into a lamer version of the game people were using to bully and berate them. BRING BACK VERSUS!
Sorry for changing pins y'all, but holy S*** there's so much great discussion and points being raised in the comments right now (And everyone for the most part is keeping it civil). I'm trying to get to everyone but there's a ton of you so forgive me if it takes some time
We talk about things like this pretty often on my Twitch channel, so feel free to stop by if you want to be a part of a community that promotes things like this! twitch.tv/Khalil_
ALSO, thank you guys for clearing up my misconception about the gacha's accessibility.
Loving the positivity! I think we can make these moves and bring even more new people to the game. All of us gotta do whatever we can :)
people complains about anything. i try to get mid rank on all my games and i dont even research frame data.
Brick is carrying the content side of this game on his back right now. I don't see anyone else doing consistent uploads for GBVS:R
I'm trying to kick some others into gear! I think as long as people have constructive conversations, things will ramp up
Im a beginner and want to start making content regularly 🧚🏻♂️ investing in a setup rn 🧼🐳
@@Khalil_I am very new, but doing my part. Love this game
It's never too late to get involved! Welcome!
Diaphone takes a break for like a few weeks and people be acting like he never uploaded at all. Lmao
My cousin showed me the ropes of the game the other day, and I'll be buying the Deluxe edition tomorrow. Really looking forward to playing it.
Enjoy and welcome!
We need a Sajam Slam for this game lol. Its not gonna fix everything of course but given how it went for SF6 and T8 it would help GBVSR a lot.
Yeah for sure! Unfortunately, I don't think it's super likely, but on the other hand it doesn't have to be Sajam that does it (Even though that would be incredible)
We can all do our part to take this community even higher than it is now, let me know your thoughts! (Also the game is 50% off on steam right now)
Well I don't want to be too harsh but the fact that you haven't played the one before is the reason you don't understand why the game hasn't gained popularity, it's inferior in many points and costs more.
And so yes, there will be some people who want it to be more like the previous version, but I do not believe it's as big of an impact as some make it out to be (On the actual fighting game side of things) especially when you consider mitigating factors like this game has a free version, has greatly improved netcode, is currently in dev cycle, has a world tour, etc. and I also think there are a TON of FG players who didn't even look in vanillas direction because of the time it came out in and the netcode who are interested and even involved in rising since it's newer
Now, the single player stuff is valid and likely a driving force with casuals and I agree they should put more time into that end (I said this in the video), but again, I think it's lazy to blame the multiplayer gameplay changes and call it a day when no matter what anyone thinks of the game and how it compares to vanilla, there's a lot more that can be done both on player/content end and developer/publisher end. We have no hard control over what they will decide to do, so I think it's better to focus on what we can.
No game will be for everyone and I understand that, I'm just trying to get more people to try so they can actually make that choice haha
Thank you for commenting!
I just wanted to focus on the games that were bigger as an example but that's totally valid
There are absolutely counterexamples to what I'm presenting.
I think the direction/goal for rising can be refined and improved while still maintaining it's identity distinct from vanilla and also other anime fighters
You'll have to excuse me if you felt I was over generalizing, that isn't the goal here, moreso trying to present a different perspective to issues you raise just like you have mine
I think even though it has a free demo, it hasn't been marketed nearly as much by players or by dev/publisher.
You're going above and beyond! Love to see it!
I hope CyGames just steps it up with the marketing, and does some of the things you suggested like just allowing DLC to be playable in the demo.
whats wrong with using steamcharts?
Soooo you need to shimmy to open people?
@@Jaded.1 I don’t think it’s wrong to see how lively a player base is, but a lot of people use it to bring a game down and as an excuse not to play it. In GBVSR’s case too, I can personally say that you don’t need to use Discord to find games. Furthermore, it doesn’t account that GBVSR is cross play, so the Steamchart numbers won’t account for how big the population actually is.
I really love GBVSR even though i suck at the game, but i hate cygames so much for putting OST's behind fucking battle pass it's unreal.
There's no skill requirement for passion!
And yeah, fighting game devs/publishers still haven't really figured out reasonable monetization yet. I will say though it could be a TON worse lmao
Oh yikes this comment made me decide not to bother buying this -
A mix of that and the fact gbvs players were shafted by having to pay full price for a rollback update (on the surface, I'm probably way off base).
Thanks for saving me £40 😂
Well, nobody can force you to make any decision, but I will raise 2 points haha.
1. the game is 50% off rn
2. The battle pass is actually pretty solid all things considered. Yeah, I think a lot of people would like to have OSTs not exist in them (myself included), but a ton of others do find the skins and stuff you can get to be pretty good for the price (Like the narmaya, beatrix, & belial costumes)
This is especially the case because you can just play the game, see how much you've leveled up the pass, then decide on whether you want to buy it or not since you can see your progress pre purchase.
Show the world how fun this game can be ^.^
Absolutely!
Welcome! I hope you enjoy your time playing!
I'll play again when Ferry stops being thrown under the bus for Belial's sake
bought the game two days ago. Never picked up a fighter before so this is my first but hey it's one of the few fighters that piqued my interest! Hopefully it grows more in the future
Welcome!
One of the best and most fun fighting games to come out in recent years. Game is good and hopefully something happens for it to grow
I love this game and even I don't know why I don't play it more.
Now's a great time to get back into it with the new character just releasing! :)
@@Khalil_ Ill have to hop back in this week and catch some hands, its a damn good game fr
It'll be a bit long, my apologies:
Large cast, Crossplay, and being easy to pick up are a valid. The other things though:
Good netcode.
2. This is mostly preference so I can't really say much about this haha different strokes
3. Not saying it's the only way to do it, but more I think this is the logic they took with it
4. Can you be more specific with this? I'm not 100% on what you're referring to and I don't want to assume.
5. Yeah both need fixing asap, no question
6. Fast rematch is def something that would be nice. Time is the most valuable thing in existence so anything that helps people spend more time doing the things they like is valuable
I have a lot of respect for you for acknowledging that sometimes a game isn't for you and that's ok. Even going above and beyond recommending it despite your personal preferences. Thank you for being a reasonable human being, FGC needs more people like you. I hope one day down the line you try the game again and you enjoy it more than last time!
@@Khalil_ I just got around to it, so I’ll elaborate a bit more clearly on 4-
I happen to be an east coast player who, for multiple reasons, happen to mainly participate in an FGC subcommunity based in the Philippines.
The good news is this can be fixed!
Looking forward to learning more from your video
(I 'joined' the fgc in 2019 and I remember watching lots of gbvs on nlbc streams back then. Always looked really good to me I just neve jumped on board til now)
I hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think!
Stand proud because of this video i have purchased gbvsr.
YO! Thank you so much for watching and letting me know! I hope you enjoy!
@@Khalil_I just saw that same comment. My fault for not checking.
You're totally fine! Don't expect anyone to scroll through all of this madness LMFAO. Hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless
If you ever want to be a part of it, feel free to stop by sometime!
if i could just buy Narmaya... 😔😔
I feel you, I feel like a lot of people would purchase individual characters from base roster if it was an option haha
It would be so cool if I could buy a handful of characters. I am very much a character loyalist, but I can't justify buying a full price game just to play Vaseraga, or to go it alone. I'd cave if a couple of my FG friends came with, but they're busy keeping up with SF and GG Strive.
Completely understandable. However I will say (With that in mind) that the game is 50% off on steam rn!
I'll be back with my opinion.
I seek to listen to this whole video before speaking. I have a hunch about most o these issues and seek to hear you out 🤝
Trust I'll have words knowing me lol
Rising has been my favorite game of the year. I'm not a tourney player but I love the system, there's enough people in the lobby for me to get games against, and I love the IP and what surrounds it. It's a shame to see people hate on different games still to this day. I'm very excited for the future in season 2 and what changes come about from it.
Love to see it! Keep the positivity going!
Man never mentioned SA. Brazil is still here fighting for it. Great video, loved it!
Thank you! Sorry for the lack of SA mentioned, probably just didn't cross my mind during the rant lmao. Though I've spoken with some players like Shirou so I know you guys are very much around!
May try to put something together so y'all can be showcased to NA audiences a bit more. Stay tuned!
I think part of the content gap issue is a perpetuation cycle. there's few content creators for the game, and anyone looking to do that won't try and push to be a content creator because nobody is creating content for the game
from a personal perspective, I have a lot of issues with how the inputs feel compared to other games.
I just watched a part of the video and apparently the game is FREE?? I'm going try it out.
It is so wild that Feather isn't in the game yet
Bro is literally Rock Howard, he was made for this
I'm not familiar but that sounds hilarious
I love the game. I have the Platinum Trophy in Rising and the original Versus game. Vikala is freaking amazing, and the series, in general, is Phenomenal, like AJ Styles. I can't see people hating this game. Sure, it's not Street Fighter, it's not KOF, it's not Tekken, it's not Guilty Gear, but it's an amazing game. I love it. I hope others learn to love it, too. It's an Amazing Fighting Game for an Amazing Franchise. I do stream it on Twitch, from time to time.
Glad to hear it!
Khalil out here spitting and mfs not hearing him!
Just doing my part
i bought the game at launch and ngl i kinda hated it compared to the OG the 66ls, brave stuff and nier kinda turned me off.
But i tried a bit after Beatrix came out and and tried out 2B and she was one of the most fun movesets ive played recently. i havent played since the Beatrix update, and during the time it still felt pretty rough to get into(yall are really good ngl)
I hope you decide to give it another try someday!
@@Khalil_I’ve been messing around with it during my with trip, I really like verusia! Def wanna try online again when I’m back home
Great vid at of your points really resonated
Hey thank you so much!
Where I live the game is popping right now, Strive is pretty much dead here and that coupled with a bunch of former SF6 players make up the small scene here, but the fact that it displaced Strive gives me hope for the future.
I also got 3 people to play the game, which helps. It's all relative
You're going way above and beyond what you can expect from the average community member so thank you for your contributions! Let's keep working hard!
Vikala revived my love for this game..., because it means i dont take everything too serious
Nothing wrong with that!

I see two main problems:Balancing of characters and Ragequiters or no punishment for quitting.
It's kinda hard to play this game in EU. Most people left after few weeks to go back to SF\Tekken\GGST 'cuz they're just more popular.
If I hit S rank I'll be happy (currently maxed at A2)
Granblues accessibility let me play fighting games again without feeling like trash lol
To me, I really had a hard time fighting against the combo in this game.
Noice stuff 👏👏👏 God speed to GBVSR
Thanks for watching!
Honestly game is great. Worst part is having to get to level 50 in grand bruise. I dont want to, and yet its the last trophy i need for platinum. Damn it.
Buff Soriz.
LMFAO Keep fighting the good fight my friend. You'll be pleased to know that Soriz is seeing more representation in the competitive scene nowadays!
This game has so many small annoyances. I love the idea of the game, but everytime I try to pick it up again, it pricks my hand with a hundred needles
But overall, the game feels amazing to play. I really like the art style and the characters. If the opportunity shows itself, I'll buy the full game
@@Khalil_ Thanks for the info. I'll think about it. I hope the game and it's community will have the recognition they deserve
Nobody does RPG modes/tower challenges with gears and stuff videos which is weird to me, it has a lot to digest and a lot of newcomers are not confortable palying against player but ok playing solo content.
There's no gear in Rising Story Mode, they deleted that too.
They really threw everything that made Versus awesome away.
28:30 I need more Synn's videos!!!! 😭
Ah
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
In my opinion version 1 Nier is easy to beat, but belial till this day is still struggle to beat because I get comboed and wall comboed soo hard
Every single thing they do should be in EN and JP absolutely BARE MINIMUM
I played Nier when I first played this game I wasn't really into the series before but a friend sent me the trailer for her and I was excited to play her, literally the only reason I got the game was to play nier 😅 but when we played I got nothing from him but complaining every fight even tho he was winning because he's just better at fighting games but I just got sick of it because every time I even loaded the game I was met with toxic posts about Neir players, the fact that shes been nerfed like 6-7 times now and he's still complaining has just kept me from playing it again and its a shame cuz I really enjoyed it but hey at least he's having fun on it
Man, that's a real shame. If you ever decide to give it another try, our community will welcome you with open, non toxic arms!
For me, that falls onto trying to learn Don Hwan (Garou) for the time being.
I will consider it for sure!
First Granblue fantasy is actually a WEB BROWSER game no hoop required and the english translation is official and needs no external programs or Apps to activate it, it's actually not difficult just go to their website.
Second:
How to fix this game? stop buffing Belial every patch.
Stop making all "boss characters" stupid good and sometimes stupidly easy on purpose undermining half of the cast just because they are "big powerful villain".
There's a good game in GBVSR but there's a clear preference of making some characters stronger "just because they should be"
They really need to take balance seriously, because a lot of character are unfairly easy to play and ok if you want to make an easy character I don't have an issue against it, but damn son don't make them clearly top tier on purpose.
For me the only major issue are the fucking spammers of dash l, that's totally ruined the gameplay mechanics, that's so bad 🤔
BUT
The controls kill it for me.
Sorry for the rant, I needed to vent lol
I do think GBVSR is doing a great job, legit was the best game at EVO 24 and no one outside the community talked about which is a shame.
@@Khalil_ I need a coach so bad lol So yeah I'd be interested
I bought the game and then gave like 4 of my friends that f2p exploit they havent fixed lol
Hey, that's still more people playing! lmao
The game is just lacking in basic mechanics that Arksys games are known for, like air dashes, air combos, and a Roman cancel equivalent. I'd personally be willing to give Rising a try if it had those specific 3 things
can't be lacking those 'basic mechanics' when it's not trying to be like those games. Just play Guilty Gear or Blazblue lol
"I would try it if it was a fundamentally different game" is a crazy way to say you don't fuck with granblue
Meh, I prefer the slower pace of Rising over the wildness of Strive.
i love the game and have like 600 hours logged across both PS4 and PC but honestly the biggest thing that prevents me from recommending it more is how much insane bigotry and toxicity i see in the guestbook. i'm trans, almost all my friends are trans, and it's hard to big up a game to my friends when i know they're gonna boot it up and get smacked in the face with that. it's especially disappointing because i know from firsthand experience how NOT representative that is of the community as a whole. but because it's front and center in the game client itself it builds a strong negative impression of what kind of people you are gonna meet playing this game, especially to the folks who are just casually checking the game out and don't know all the discords. even though i wasn't a huge fan of the system changes from vanilla making the game less neutral-oriented, even though we had to suffer through the Winter of Nier, even though they crippled my gal yuel in the patch, i'm still diehard in love with the game itself. picked up kat recently and am having a blast playing every night. but if i had never heard of this game before and someone told me to check it out TODAY, i probably woulda bounced off quick because of how bad a first impression the game gives of its community. cygames needs a real human moderation system if they're gonna be running an in-game BBS, this is basic internet 101 shit.
@@akabkb6692 a lot of the guestbook stuff feels like twitch chat syndrome and i want to believe isn't actually representative of the community being overly transphobic/toxic imo... but i could totally be wrong too lmao
lmao ok
The Capcom cabal and its useful shills clearly don't want this game to succeed as it is a direct competitor and they need to suck Capcom's schlong about SFVI and shill that slime rush simulator endlessly. This is why you rarely, if ever, see the larger part of the popular FGC talking about this game
As a vanilla player, I'd say this game does have its problems but it's the only one with pure FG and aesthetic soul in it (and there's no ugly woke crap which is also what the current neo-progressive FGC doesn't like)
It's disappointing and sad how much it flopped.
