I don't think I'm able to describe just how happy I was to hear Andreas' acknowledgment of Payday 3's identity crisis. The tonal dissonance has been, in my opinion, a fundamental issue for both the veteran players and the new players. Why play Payday 3 when you have Payday 2 for that fully-realized power fantasy? Why play Payday 3 when you have Payday The Heist for that grounded heisting experience? So, yeah, I'm looking forward to what they're cooking for Year 2.
Fantastic interview! Really satisfied with literally everything Almir and Andreas had to say, even down to Almir's hesitance to release a roadmap, I wholeheartedly agree that roadmaps can dampen the interest around a given addition or update. WOW, it is so absolutely refreshing to hear some honesty and down-to-earth dialogue from the current heads. Gold Pass owner here, so I'm invested. I think Almir and Andreas having the experiences they do, they are absolutely *the most qualified* to be in their positions. And they show it. It's probably the most important thing to have people who are active and engaged with the community, to know what it is they generally want out of PD3. That is how you can have a better vision for the game. And the talk about the "power fantasy" and "groundedness" of PD3, makes it clear they understand what we want. We can keep the generally grounded feel for Stealth, but for Loud, we should 100% have that power fantasy. That's what so many people loved about PD2. As for the new content drops, I am absolutely for making future large heist releases more spaced out, so long as we get more quality out of them (i.e. Preplanning overhauls, like that of Golden Grin or Big Bank). I don't mind if there are more MTX-based cosmetic/outfit releases, so long as they keep that ~35-65% free:paid ratio for cosmetics that PD2 had in its later years, so long as those cosmetics are of good quality and fair value (i.e. think generally $6 - $8 for a bundle of 3 outfits/4 gloves/2 charms, maybe $2 for an outfit/gloves). Keeping cosmetics that cheap is a very good way at ensuring that people will not mind buying them, and having purchases relatively often. Think sales>price. It would be a compared value of like, ~400% better value than other games' horrendously overpriced cosmetics (i.e. COD, Halo, Valorant, etc). And then if you have these items available for resale/trade via the Steam Marketplace (like for PD2), then you'll give the community more chances to resell/trade something they may not want anymore. It's a good system to keep in mind for the future, and an improved and more honest business model than what we had in PD2.
I bought the game day 1, suffered though “Nebula Data Error”, realized the game was not as good as it should’ve done, and haven’t touched the game in almost a year But listening to them say “we fucked up”, I think I’m starting to forgive them… It’s good to know that they’re listening, especially with their takes on Diamond district and the new shield system. I still dislike that I’ll have to wait until December to experience the new armor system, but at least they’re acknowledging their mistakes, and I forgive them
For an outfit customization, I would like to see preset outfits, like we have now, but with different colors too but also I would like to have white, blank, for example suit, that you can put your own colors just like for weapons. The ability to color each part of outfit with own colors like having tie this color, suit that color, pants this color etc. And not just suits but different types of outfits too
We badly need something to spend money on! I am sitting here with 70+ million$ and I don't know where to spend it on. I would love a upgradable safehouse from like scratch to super fancy and cool! Just like in PD2 but instead of the coins to buy it with money. It's more fun to play when you have no money, just makes it feel more worthy to play heists.🤔
the 1 thing I really hope they do is once PD3 gets enough heists, bring back the crime spree system. Doing a crime spree IMHO added a lot of replayability to the game and made grinding for certain things easier to do and overall made it more fun.
Having finally sat down and done a 100 point Crime Spree recently, I agree. It felt very refreshing to have randomized, bite-sized (in some cases) heists as opposed to just picking something specific from the broker.
Absolutely loved this and I think this was needed for everyone involved, a nice in depth discussion with these two to help spark our confidence as a community. Love you Troy! 14:23 Skill system rework THANK YOU. That is the number 1 thing that needs looking at imo so that's amazing to hear.
Ayy, my question was chosen! Thanks! I'm really glad to hear how much they're talking about Diamond District. For me, the biggest problem with Payday 3 was the same problem that was in PDTH: when every heist is a "grand, big, extravaganza!" it's harder to just sit down and grind out levels, unlocks, etc. And while I love the big heists like Gold & Sharke and Fear & Greed, I need to have a smaller, lighter, Jewelry Store-type heist to let me cool out before I go back for another big one. Here's to Year 2!
Honestly I'm surprised they chose Murky Station as one of the first side hustles instead of Shadow Raid. It would've felt alot more natural, it's stealth only and has a good variation of loot, but hey maybe in the future.
Hi, here from the near future, the Oct 16th blog post stated "a Legacy Heist will return later this year for free, allowing all players to relive one of the games most popular challenges" It doesn't say anything more than that, but with how popular Shadow Raid DSOD was, I think it's a pretty safe bet for it to come back.
@@danielthompson392 Just read the same thing. Got my fingers crossed. Sadly, I won’t be able to play it since I’ll be on course for the army by that time.
Honestly its incredibly refreshing and human to hear both Almir and Andreas admit they fumbled the bag with the launch and several decisions, glad to see them taking on accountability and I am excited to see what they cook up now that theyre back at the helm
This was a super good interview and I'm glad these guys still care about payday so much. I feel like a lot of other studios might have just cut their losses at this point but I'm glad they are still in fact so committed to make payday 3 it's own unique co op game with it's own identity.
after the launch i deleted the game, beacuse it had a lot of problems and i had more expectations. I even bought the gold edition because i am a fan of the payday universe. Now seeing it going in a positive way and seeing all the updates and feedback on the side i am gonna install the game again and give it a shot. It seems like the game improved alot. And i can see the developers rlly want to make this game a really nice experience and not give up. I have a lot of content to play compared to launch, which is good. Lets see.
Them only being game directors temporarily kinda sucks, I hope they stay on. Also I hope they don't forget about progression, which is pretty much non-existent now and the reason many people are getting bored. Grinding to lvl 1600 without any infamy is boring. Please give us back infamy-like grinding.
26:02 I would love if they could basically do the bank heist in The Dark Knight. Remake their bank heist without the betrayals, with their clown masks and outfits. Legacy heists I will always go back to Big Bank because it was one of my favorite heists with a variety of entries/exits that made it both fun and different yet the same (different start/end but same process). Also maybe Mallcrashers, it won't have the same usefulness (I used it to farm levels) but I did enjoy it as basically a speed run mission. I in general do like the bank heists (I have played Gold & Sharke like 100 times now.... basically it has a good payout with a little over $1M on very hard and little to no issues doing almost full stealth solo in under 30 minutes.... I ECM jam 2 cameras in the garage at the beginning, then at the end hack the rest then kill the guards and tie up the civilians to easily transport all the bags to the van. Most issues I have are getting the red keycard undetected which I am getting better at and being stupid like running away when a guard is checking a spot which if no one is there it starts a search basically ending stealth when you need to navigate a majority of the bank still). I don't play the basic bank heist in Payday 3 because you can get screwed in stealth when you need a manager/executive of the bank to open the vault and they spawn in the front section of the bank which (I have tried like 3 times) it is impossible to grab them and take them into the back of the bank unnoticed. I would love it if at some point they add a mod menu/"store" (not paid but can search and download mods straight from it) in-game. I always struggled with downloading mods but I love using them to make games I enjoy better for my entertainment.
I think instead of roadmaps, occasional interviews like these are way more interesting and healthy for the game in the long run. These leave room for unexpected errors and plan changes for the team while giving the community a sense of direction the game is heading towards and what might be on the horizon in terms of content releases.
The communtiry questions really sparked some questions from our dear devs. Like some bird in a jacket asked a question about the feelings. I hope that this is the question(answer) that we have been waiting for. The prospect number 3. Jiro, the slashing menace of cloackers. And maybe Sydney
The Payday community is one of those communities I love, and this video is a reminder of why. Wishing the devs the best, as someone who's been here from the beginning.
Not even one minute in, and we had Shirtless Anderas, Pantless Almir, Almir OF heist confirmed. Shut up and take my like. WE ARE SO BACK! (Game still needs lot of work ofc but honestly if there are 2 guys left in this company I trust its these too handsome young men. Red is also fine I guess ;D)
If you want to get away from power fantasy/powerful build combinations then the heists need to be incredibly engaging with a lot of options with how to solve them. This will also require a huge catalogue of heists since that is the sum total of the experience. Builds with perks that feel impactful are a way for people to really engage with the game and find new ways to enjoy the content. Blending these two are how you make a live service game a hit.
Solid interview!! I think there were a few missed opportunities, but of course one couldn't hit every point ^^' I really hope _true_ offline is still a priority behind the scenes most of all, but the insight they've allowed us here does inspire hope :3😊
thanks for this interview, it could easily have gone on for two hours or more, what would be cool would be insert shots/b-roll from their offices. I have played all three games, by favorite by far is payday 2, but what you discussed here made me really excited to jump back into payday 3 in december. I also agree with Almir about the roadmap, I like not knowing for content stuff, I remember being surprised by new payday 2 content back in the day. my review on the steam store is negative, and I am hoping that when I jump back in after the december update that I will change it to positive, based on what was said in this interview I am very likely to change it.
it would be amazing if developers could take mods from the community and implement them into the game, so that the community would really be a part of the game and help make the game better and add more content
I no longer dread having bought the Gold pass post-launch. I have faith they can make a banger out of this yet. Still concerned that Shield will do what Adaptive did, as there will never be a time where the slightly increased power of Blueplate will beat out the misery of having a plate break, but it's a net positive.
@@cairox1509 Adaptive is far longer lasting for a careful and competent heister. Clean Slate does not make Adaptive obsolete, it just makes it even better in exactly the same way it makes Blueplate better. It impacts them the same, so saying it changes one especially is simply false. There is a reason less than 10% of heisters use blueplate of any kind.
i feel like they could do a roadmap as a to-do list, rather than a "this is happening at this point in time", and leave the bigger things like dlc announcements etc as a "when it's ready" sort of thing.
As much as I understand Mio not being the lead director and knowing the drama that has surrounded him. Knowing that Armor 2.0 is from him makes me realize that perhaps the ideas he may have had and probably still has is just him actually trying. I don't mean that he is thinking of the best possible ideas for the game since there is probably alot of context on why the game launch the way it is in September, but Mio did try even if certain things didn't go well. Although, that still does not excuse the behavior. Edit: Please fix the invisible cops...
Mio isn't a bad developer, but Andreas was willing to admit that the game is in limbo between realism and absurdity, and Mio was strongly weighted to realism and hesitant to change. That was a rough thing for the state of the game and community relations. Placing him back into a direct developer role was the best thing for the game
It was extremely honest of them to come out about their true feelings of how they feel the launch went, I hope they come up with some cool unique solutions to breathe a little bit more life into the game, and gave me hope of giving this series a solid try again one of these days.
If the devs are reading this: Keep putting out good maps with lots of player freedoms and payday 3 will become the sequel to payday 2 that everyone loves. Don't forget to randomize the hell out of the levels payday 2 style as well. Move vaults around, move rooms around. Change circumstances. When the map is a changing beast, there is a lot of replayability. "Server browser is coming" Is one of the most exciting things i've taken from this interview. I hope it has the nostalgia of payday 2's server browser. Bring back Razormind! That song builds hype in all the right ways while racing through a map. No Big Oil! Lol. Stealth friendly heists are better. You can always go loud, stealth should always be an option too in my opinion. Not everyone is a loud player. I think a Safehouse would be cool if it was done well. It would be cool to have an art gallery in the safehouse with collectable art pieces which occasionally rotate into spots on the wall on different maps with paintings. So when the level randomizes maybe one of these paintings would be rotated in and if you steal it you get it added to your safehouse. (*caugh* Sydney)
Here is my response to Almir, Andreas, and Team. For me to feel able to play and participate in Payday 3 again as a daily player, what I think it needs is the Crime server browser from payday 2 but revamped, or at the bare minimum, even if that isn't done, at the bare minimum I need a stealth/loud tag. It's just not fun for me to play a match crossing my fingers and hoping I get in a lobby that's loud when I want to play loud, or stealth when I want to stealth. It's very demoralizing and ruins the fun of playing for me, and I WANT to play, but this sole thing has prevented me from being able to enjoy the game. Once this is added, you can count me committed to popping in more often to play Payday 3, because I REALLY do want to play it, it's just hard when it feels like a dice roll stealth or loud.
For the identity crisis they mention... I hope they lean towards chaotic fun rather than realistic. I feel most of the player base would agree that what brought them coming back to payday after all these years was the chaotic fun they had with their friends fighting off cops with large spoons, flamethrowers, and trying to make the most broken character build possible. Too many games now lean towards realistic, which after a while becomes dull and repetitive. We love the Halloween dozers, the fun spooky maps, fun Christmas maps. Prioritize fun over realism, because at the end of the day we play games to have fun. Fantastic interview, I'm excited to see what happens in year 2.
I really want them to add variety and replayability to all the heists in year 2. Even if it starts simple we just NEED variations between the objectives.
As far as communication I’d love if it was like this where it was “hey we are working on this right now…what are your ideas about how to balance these things?” Or
Payday3 is in good hands if Almir and Andreas lead it. They know what payday the heist and payday2 where and I'm sure they will find what payday3 will be. I hope they keep their position as directors, at least Andreas. Also knowing that Almir has his hands on the dough while still keeping his community manager position is very reassuring for the community, because we know that by sending our feedback on his streams we have a sort of direct interaction with the entire team.
Was definitely a good interview. Still love the game, wish i could play it more, but theres too few variations and ways to complete the current heists. all the steps to do things feel like theyre always the same and there's not really any map variance to make it replayable with different variables. Would still return if objectives and maps could change up a little mission to mission.
Melee needs to either be more diverse so no two weapons feel or act *too* similar, or be balanced so that their isn't a very clear and definitive meta like their was in Payday 2.
I do think it’ll be more beneficial to lean to more of a chaos fantasy for PD3. PD2 was more successful and where most players and fans came from. So I think it’s for the best to lean into more to that fantasy
@@scootaloo9491 never said it had to be PD2 exactly but they even said they need to lean in more grounded or more chaos. I am saying the chaos will be more beneficial
3:05 step 1 acceptance but for real tho I’m real hopefully for this game if they play their cards right this year it could bring payday 3 in a mostly positive light and get new and old vets of the payday series to play and have fun so let’s wait and see this year

I enjoyed listening them talk with so much pation, it makes you believe that the future for PD3 will be bright.
If you can hear us please save us Shadow Raid
If shadow raid ever makes a return, I’ll lose my shit.
Honestly I'm surprised they chose Murky Station as one of the first side hustles instead of Shadow Raid. It would've felt alot more natural, it's stealth only and has a good variation of loot, but hey maybe in the future.
Hi, here from the near future, the Oct 16th blog post stated "a Legacy Heist will return later this year for free, allowing all players to relive one of the games most popular challenges"
It doesn't say anything more than that, but with how popular Shadow Raid DSOD was, I think it's a pretty safe bet for it to come back.
@@danielthompson392 Eh I'm thinking Overdrill so FWB
@@danielthompson392 Just read the same thing. Got my fingers crossed. Sadly, I won’t be able to play it since I’ll be on course for the army by that time.
Andreas acknowledging the split personality makes me so happy. He is 100% right.
Honestly its incredibly refreshing and human to hear both Almir and Andreas admit they fumbled the bag with the launch and several decisions, glad to see them taking on accountability and I am excited to see what they cook up now that theyre back at the helm
I MADE IT ONTO IT LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
This was a super good interview and I'm glad these guys still care about payday so much. I feel like a lot of other studios might have just cut their losses at this point but I'm glad they are still in fact so committed to make payday 3 it's own unique co op game with it's own identity.
Seeing Andreas & Almir sit down and talk PAYDAY for about an hour really does show how dedicated they are towards making this game great.
Thank you for selecting my comment, I am glad to be selected for the interview
after the launch i deleted the game, beacuse it had a lot of problems and i had more expectations. Lets see.
If jokers are coming i hope we offer them 2 bean burritos for the animation
Them only being game directors temporarily kinda sucks, I hope they stay on. Also I hope they don't forget about progression, which is pretty much non-existent now and the reason many people are getting bored. Grinding to lvl 1600 without any infamy is boring. Please give us back infamy-like grinding.
Who knows, maybe we'll enter a "There's nothing so permanent as a temporary solution" type situation
Im sure they’ll stay as Game Directors, given all of the positive responses from the community when they announced the promotions, especially Almir.
So true. In a game about robbing Banks there is so little you can do with the money.
Ask them about the offline mode you have them right there
Yeah, that's one thing I wish I'd included in my questions. I was bound to miss something by accident, sorry! 😅
@RedArcherLive they wouldn't give you a honest answer they just were working on it I'll stay with payday 2 no internet required
I wish there was a question asked about the offline mode cause there’s still no clear answer on when that’s supposed to show up in the game
Solid interview!! I think there were a few missed opportunities, but of course one couldn't hit every point ^^'
I really hope _true_ offline is still a priority behind the scenes most of all, but the insight they've allowed us here does inspire hope :3😊
That was a really good interview. Well done to all 3 of you 😁
Who knows Almir's OF? I am ready to give all my money!
Thanks for amazing interview as usuall!
This was a good interview! I am especially looking forward to the return of Akimbo!
Give me more massive content!
Well done! keep up the good work.
thanks for this interview, it could easily have gone on for two hours or more, what would be cool would be insert shots/b-roll from their offices.
First minute is all i needed, see you next year for another minute
Excellent interview I watched the whole thing ❤
when the almir onlyfans?
Finally a normal question
28:22 That hotline Miami reference made my heart skip a beat.
Timestamp for "New/Returning Heisters" is one minute off, I'm assuming it was a typo
Fixed, thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to go there and interview them, this was great dude.
pls more for payday 3 videos like this ;-; ! it was nice thanks for the video !
37:28 omg im Ash Williams i can’t believe i actually made it into the video 😂❤️
Great interview! They have a great outlook on how things realistically are. I have a great feeling for the future!
16:42 "A bunch of weapons" just two new guns (And the Overkill weapon), I hope you're not counting the Signature ones
it would be amazing if developers could take mods from the community and implement them into the game, so that the community would really be a part of the game and help make the game better and add more content
I no longer dread having bought the Gold pass post-launch. I have faith they can make a banger out of this yet. Still concerned that Shield will do what Adaptive did, as there will never be a time where the slightly increased power of Blueplate will beat out the misery of having a plate break, but it's a net positive.
Unlocking the last Tank skill kinda mitigates needing to use Adaptive
Edit: Please fix the invisible cops...
armor 2.0 came from mio lmao
@@Moonistic Is it not?
@@zerparadoxx9458 wait, i'm a dunce and miss read lmao
@@Moonistic you're good lol
Mio isn't a bad developer, but Andreas was willing to admit that the game is in limbo between realism and absurdity, and Mio was strongly weighted to realism and hesitant to change. That was a rough thing for the state of the game and community relations. Placing him back into a direct developer role was the best thing for the game
It's good to see Andreas again, missed that fella
he's so lovely, I wish I could just go for a beer with the guy
and I don't even drink beer
I hope Almir and Andreas can stay game directors for Payday 3
It was extremely honest of them to come out about their true feelings of how they feel the launch went, I hope they come up with some cool unique solutions to breathe a little bit more life into the game, and gave me hope of giving this series a solid try again one of these days.
You probably ought to update the pinned comment for this one.
28:20 Jacket will return in payday 3 and with the introduction of melee weapons
And probably akimbos
Do you like hurting people?
If the devs are reading this:
Keep putting out good maps with lots of player freedoms and payday 3 will become the sequel to payday 2 that everyone loves.
Update on a full offline mode
As far as communication I’d love if it was like this where it was “hey we are working on this right now…what are your ideas about how to balance these things?” Or
36:09 Now I want a Glock Melee weapon with two options on how to hold it, Almir Style or Andreas style.
If Sokol isn't added as a Heister, he better be living his best life on a ranch in Montana.
I’ve played PD3 then entire time since launch it has had problems but I just love the game and the franchise they’ll always have my support❤
i hope payday 3 does well as the payday 2 in the long run
Payday3 is in good hands if Almir and Andreas lead it. They know what payday the heist and payday2 where and I'm sure they will find what payday3 will be. I hope they keep their position as directors, at least Andreas. Also knowing that Almir has his hands on the dough while still keeping his community manager position is very reassuring for the community, because we know that by sending our feedback on his streams we have a sort of direct interaction with the entire team.
I would love a small golden spoon weapon charm
Was definitely a good interview. Still love the game, wish i could play it more, but theres too few variations and ways to complete the current heists. all the steps to do things feel like theyre always the same and there's not really any map variance to make it replayable with different variables. Would still return if objectives and maps could change up a little mission to mission.
28:20 jacket
No offline mode troy? Why thats like one of the biggest wants for payday 3
They're clearly working on it or we wouldn't have the beta. It will be out when it's ready.
22:21 they wanna say panic room
Let’s go can’t wait to watch it
Definitely staying with payday 2 no online required
Cool
28:21 jacket confirmed
Need to get this game turned around I want to play and enjoy it.
These guys can take a punch and still fight
This gives me a lot of confidance in the team
Melee needs to either be more diverse so no two weapons feel or act *too* similar, or be balanced so that their isn't a very clear and definitive meta like their was in Payday 2.
I do think it’ll be more beneficial to lean to more of a chaos fantasy for PD3. PD2 was more successful and where most players and fans came from. So I think it’s for the best to lean into more to that fantasy
Yeah, no. The game doesn't need to start just being Payday 2. It can have it's own identity just fine. It just needs to iron it out.
@@scootaloo9491 never said it had to be PD2 exactly but they even said they need to lean in more grounded or more chaos. I am saying the chaos will be more beneficial
TROY! Am very proud. Ducklord approves.
After work gona play some payday 3 can't wait
If they bring back FWB I hope they base the soundtrack on the 2011 version
3:05 step 1 acceptance but for real tho I’m real hopefully for this game if they play their cards right this year it could bring payday 3 in a mostly positive light and get new and old vets of the payday series to play and have fun so let’s wait and see this year
Still waiting on the Leafy Koala mask 🍃🐨
It’s finally hereeeeee
nostalgia is history, keep it but with new assets! pls more legacy heists in new aspects
I fucking love them both specially Almir it was a great decision making them lead the game
Is offline mode still coming? They haven't mentioned it in a while
CEO said it is coming with the anniversary updates but the team itself hasn't said that.
oh man, i am getting emotional with this franchise lmao .
