      @@infinite5795 so much hatred! Huh? Well , let me put your mind at ease. Sikhism has nothing to do with beard , hair or a knife. You can be a sikh without these accessories. The word Sikh means "learner". Therefore i think , people like Galileo , Sir Issac Newton , Einstein , Aristotle and many more truly exemplified Sikhism. This is the path of Sikhism. I don't have any respect for the Sikhs who wear knife and have long beards but they don't grasp the idea of Guru Nanak's teachings. Like you just misunderstood Sikhism.

      Text 19
      मायाजवनिकाच्छन्नमज्ञाधोक्षजमव्ययम् ।
      न लक्ष्यसे मूढद‍ृशा नटो नाट्यधरो यथा ॥ १९ ॥
      māyā-javanikācchannam
      ajñādhokṣajam avyayam
      na lakṣyase mūḍha-dṛśā
      naṭo nāṭyadharo yathā
      Synonyms
      māyā - deluding; javanikā - curtain; ācchannam - covered by; ajñā - ignorant; adhokṣajam - beyond the range of material conception (transcendental); avyayam - irreproachable; na - not; lakṣyase - observed; mūḍha-dṛśā - by the foolish observer; naṭaḥ - artist; nāṭya-dharaḥ - dressed as a player; yathā - as.
      Translation
      Being beyond the range of limited sense perception, You are the eternally irreproachable factor covered by the curtain of deluding energy. You are invisible to the foolish observer, exactly as an actor dressed as a player is not recognized.
      Purport
      In the Bhagavad-gītā Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa affirms that less intelligent persons mistake Him to be an ordinary man like us, and thus they deride Him. The same is confirmed herein by Queen Kuntī. The less intelligent persons are those who rebel against the authority of the Lord. Such persons are known as asuras. The asuras cannot recognize the Lord’s authority. When the Lord Himself appears amongst us, as Rāma, Nṛsiṁha, Varāha or in His original form as Kṛṣṇa, He performs many wonderful acts which are humanly impossible. As we shall find in the Tenth Canto of this great literature, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa exhibited His humanly impossible activities even from the days of His lying on the lap of His mother. He killed the Pūtanā witch, although she smeared her breast with poison just to kill the Lord. The Lord sucked her breast like a natural baby, and He sucked out her very life also. Similarly, He lifted the Govardhana Hill, just as a boy picks up a frog’s umbrella, and stood several days continuously just to give protection to the residents of Vṛndāvana. These are some of the superhuman activities of the Lord described in the authoritative Vedic literatures like the Purāṇas, Itihāsas (histories) and Upaniṣads. He has delivered wonderful instructions in the shape of the Bhagavad-gītā. He has shown marvelous capacities as a hero, as a householder, as a teacher and as a renouncer. He is accepted as the Supreme Personality of Godhead by such authoritative personalities as Vyāsa, Devala, Asita, Nārada, Madhva, Śaṅkara, Rāmānuja, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, Jīva Gosvāmī, Viśvanātha Cakravartī, Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī and all other authorities of the line. He Himself has declared as much in many places of the authentic literatures. And yet there is a class of men with demoniac mentality who are always reluctant to accept the Lord as the Supreme Absolute Truth. This is partially due to their poor fund of knowledge and partially due to their stubborn obstinacy, which results from various misdeeds in the past and present. Such persons could not recognize Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa even when He was present before them. Another difficulty is that those who depend more on their imperfect senses cannot realize Him as the Supreme Lord. Such persons are like the modern scientist. They want to know everything by their experimental knowledge. But it is not possible to know the Supreme Person by imperfect experimental knowledge. He is described herein as adhokṣaja, or beyond the range of experimental knowledge. All our senses are imperfect. We claim to observe everything and anything, but we must admit that we can observe things under certain material conditions only, which are also beyond our control. The Lord is beyond the observation of sense perception. Queen Kuntī accepts this deficiency of the conditioned soul, especially of the woman class, who are less intelligent. For less intelligent men there must be such things as temples, mosques or churches so that they may begin to recognize the authority of the Lord and hear about Him from authorities in such holy places. For less intelligent men, this beginning of spiritual life is essential, and only foolish men decry the establishment of such places of worship, which are required to raise the standard of spiritual attributes for the mass of people. For less intelligent persons, bowing down before the authority of the Lord, as generally done in the temples, mosques or churches, is as beneficial as it is for the advanced devotees to meditate upon Him by active service.

      Like you and many Indians he isn't a blind follower .He has read the scriptures and thus following. He knows the supreme lord as father and mother of all living beings and he knows that supreme soul doesn't differentiate. Sadly ,acc to my experience about 95% of Indians I have met don't know this simple thing written in the bhagawad Geeta. I see many people criticising Hinduism and many following Hinduism without the knowledge of what is written in the bhagawad Geeta .......

    first of all unlike islam or abrahamic religions the hare krishna's and hindus in general never think of converting others or trying to convert sikhs. Hindus and Hare krishna's deeply respect,love, worship and honor the sikh gurus. Without the Sikh gurus hinduism would not have survived(baba ramdev openly declared this!).The Sikhs are the modern day Ksatriyas(warrior saints) who have always walked on the path of righeousness. Unfortunately in the age of Kali yuga many sikhs and hindus also have stopped practicing the principles of sikhi or dharma.So movements like basics of sikhi that are trying to revive sikh dharma should be praised.I am a hare krishna and always bow to the gurus.

    • @kiratkaur2141
      @kiratkaur2141 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sweeetgirl18 Sikhism doesn't get ideas from Hinduism. The truth has existed since the beginning of time. Many Hindus recognized some of these truths for thousands of years. Many Hindus also believed in false practices. The Sikh gurus teachings encapsulated all that is true and dispelled that which was false. The fact that many words are the same (Maya, Mukti, etc) is because of the common language and culture between Hindus and Sikhs.

    • @kiratkaur2141
      @kiratkaur2141 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I didn't judge anyone. The Sikh Gurus judged the false PRACTICES, not the people doing them. You speak about Vedas as though the truth did not exist before they were written. If the Hindustan Times gives a report about the election on Monday and Times of India gives a more detailed factual report on Tuesday, did Times of India copy Hindustan Times?

    • @kiratkaur2141
      @kiratkaur2141 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** There is no problem, I was merely responding to the statement in your first comment "The part that is distracting is how they get these ideas/philosophies from Hinduism and say things against it." That's a very offensive statement as you are implying that the Gurus simply plagiarized Hindu philosophies.
      In Indian culture, your Guru is your master. For a Sikh, the teachings of the Gurus, are the teachings of Akal Purakh (God).
      Yes, if you are searching for God with a pure heart, that's all that matters. Your label, Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, etc does not matter to God. The problem at that time and even today is that senseless practices had crept into all religions. Even if you look at some people who claim to be Sikhs, they aren't truly following the Gurus teachings. Just like many Sindhis, you can identify yourself as a Hindu but follow Guruji's teachings. The label is manmade.
      Peace to you as well.

    I think that amongst Hinduism, jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism there's no point in having a clash as to which is more superior than other.If this starts to happen what will be the difference between us and abrahmic faiths.
    Does that sikh preacher realise that he is planting seeds of hatred by his comments on hindu beliefs, when in reality all the followers of native religions live so so peacefully with each other.
    We ( hindus, Buddhists, jains and Sikhs ) have to keep in mind that we do not have to make someone believe in our faiths.
    India is NOT a land of believers but of SEEKERS.
    Thats the essential difference between dharmic religions and abrahmic religions.

    I think there is a serious misconception here. The Sikhi guy says "We worship no one else but God. Not Brahma, not Siva..." etc. Well, the same thing for the Hare Krishna movement. We worship Krishna, who is God Himself. Krishna is not "one of many Hindu gods". He is the Svayam Bhagavan, not one of the devas. He is the all-knowing, all-powerfull, all-good person.

    • @x13thmonkeyx18
      @x13thmonkeyx18 8 ปีที่แล้ว +122

      Well, according to Vaisnavism, He is the God. What you say is like telling a Muslim "Allah is not God". If you don't believe that, it's ok, but you should understand that according to Gaudiya Vaisnavism (aka Hare Krishna) Krishna is the God. Therefore when you're talking to a Hare Krishna guy you can't say that "We worship God only.", because he is also thinking that he worships God only. If you wish, you can argue about the nature of God and maybe explain why Krishna can't be the God according to you. But, that's another topic.

    • @sapsap9787
      @sapsap9787 8 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Basics of Sikhi - Srimad Bhagavatam, the primary commentary on Vedas starts with the statement that Krishna is the absolute truth. So even if one doesn't believe that doesn't change the truth , the Brahman Jyoti coming out of the body of Vishnu illuminated all the universe and it's the impersonal aspect of God ( without form)

    • @redzambala7219
      @redzambala7219 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The main problem of Krishna Consciousnes (and most other religions) - if Krishna = Truth ; so Truth = Krishna?! - but in reality - most Krishna people tell me - it's only my Krishna, all others are wrong; most Christians - as well - tell me - Jesus Christ is God & Truth - and if you ask - if God Christ is the same God as Krishna, the same Truth as Buddha - they say - no, no, just exclusively Christ or Krishna is supreme; but Light = Light - how can Light be supreme over a Light?

    • @x13thmonkeyx18
      @x13thmonkeyx18 8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Red Zambala, you're right my friend. God is definitely not a secterian and therefore secterians don't represent God. Unfortunately there are many Hare Krishna's who are secterian too. I suggest you to go and search "Krishna West", which is a non-secterian Krishna Consciouss community.
      Lord Buddha's message was very different than of Lord Krishna's. But we accept him as one of the incarnations of Vishnu. In his time people were killing animals and Buddha told them "Ok, if you act this way when you believe in Vedas, stop believing them.".
      The message of Lord Jesus was true. He was a pure devotee of God (Krishna) and he taught people to love God. He is also Truth, because he is the represantative of Truth. But he is the Son, not the Father.

Btw, when reading english versions on Bagavat Gita the translations can be misleading sometimes. Because the words used before when the colonialist translated it used christian words like 'god' for bagavan which actually means totally different meaning. Also 'sin' for paap. A good translation is 'bagavad gita comes alive - a radical translation'.

      Sweeetgirl18 truly said. Hinduism is the most tolerant religion. Why else are the sikhs flourishing in India. They are trying their best to snatch Punjab to make their own Sikh county Khalistan. They say they protected Hinduism from Islam, which is true but the core reality is Sikhism originated out of Hinduism, hindus converted to sikhs, Guru Nanak ji's parents were Hindus, also babaDeep Singh ji was a Hindu Rishi who was converted by Sikh Guru Gobind Singh ji (Gobind is punjabi for Govind as in Krishna), baba deep singh ji was mainly responsible for saving people from brutal Islam. But sadly sikhs have been brainwashed, they don't accept this fact. They say they have nothing to do with Hinduism and are taught that Hindus are evil towards Sikhs and they still support Muslims and downgrade Hinduism even when guru Teg bahadurji said never to trust muslims even if they swear million times. They were hindus who converted to sikhism to save their families but even before sikhism was originated it was always a hindu land with hindu kings who faught with islamic rulers to protect land and people. But they deny this fact.

    I am always trying to listen to discussions like these to learn more about all religions. Sometimes they tend to get very loud and aggressive and the whole purpose of learning is left behind in the haste, unfortunately. But this conversation is so peaceful. I hope more people and scholars talk like this so we can learn in the kost objectively correct manner.

    I have seen many Sikh devotes who listen Katha and Satsang of "Bhagvat Katha", " Ram Katha", "Shiv Puran Katha". And they really enjoy Satsang as they are enjoying their own life in devotional way. So no need to oppose and disrespect to others. Even as "Santana Dharmi", I also enjoy "Gurubani". I love to listen the truth. That's why it's called as "Satsang". Which means " With the Truth". And you can't get and do "Satsang" without blessing of "Guru". "Guru" is the one who experienced the truth first and share the truth as " Maha Prasaad".
    I can only say that, "Aatma can't reach Parmatma without Blessing of Mahatma".
    Which means No soul can reach to the Supreme Soul or Truth without "Guru".

      Hinduism is not a religion. It is a geographical identity. People living across the river Sindh were all Sindhus, that later became Hindu. Now, all those who have no religion, call themselves having Hindu ''religion'' because it lets them free from practising any religious philosophy or belief. Today, ask any Hindu, who you are? He wont say Shaivite, Vaishnav or Shakt...because he doesn't even know these philosophies. He simple goes to a temple once in a month, bows to a statue, chants Jai Shri Ram..and that's it. How many do even read Bhagwad Geeta or Vedas or any other scripture on a regular basis? Very very few. And among those who actually understand, leave aside practising are very very rare. So, all these atheists who don't believe in Vishnu being present in each and every being, place and time..keep on bowing to idols and keep on doing senseless rituals. Ask any Arya Samaji or a Vaishnav, does he bow to an idol. If he actually practices any of above 'panths' he won't be doing it. Coming to Sikhi, it is a unique panth which although is not alien to India. So Sikhs believing that Sikhism has nothing to do with India, are wrong. Ramananda, Ravidas, Kabir, Namdev...all were Indians...a part of Bhakti movement. How can you alienate Nanak from them when work of all of them are taken together in SGGS. And those ''Hindus'' saying that Sikhism is same as Hinduism, they are complete idiots. I mean they dont know who they themselves are, and telling others who they are. Wake up ! and read some scriptures. Have some religious philosophy in life.And then come talking.

    It's spelled Bhakti yoga, not Bhagti. Kirtan is Japa Nam. For the Hari Krishna movement their maha mantra is the Hari Krishna mantra. For Sikhi it's Waheguru. This Krishna Bhakta was very sweet and humble, just sharing the little knowledge that he knows. He isn't a vedic scholar or an ISKCON Swami. But he did a good job sharing what he knows in an not threatening loving way. Sikhs are warriors, not the Hari Krishnas. This is one place that it is vastly different. Good for him. Good bless everyone! All is one. No one can prove the other being lesser or greater. This is only the maya of ego. Transcend beyond that and you will be divine.

      the sikhs are constantly taught that their belief and morals are superior than others so they can't accept other point of view. The advantage is that they have a strong sense of community and help each other within their community but the disadvantage is that they become racist and intolerant to other cultures over time.

      The hard fact is not just khalistanis but most Sikhs have superiority complex, intolerance or hate towards hindus. They just dont speak up because they are in minority. I have seen many Sikh friends when they open up about Hinduism have only negative opinion about Hindus. I saw sikhs talking bad about lord shiva, rama etc. I was disgusted by their hate in the beginning but slowly got used to it. Majority of Hindus love SIkhs and think they are their own people but Sikhs think they are a superior race.
