I went from knowing some things about Sikhi, to following it by doing simran. I knew some things about Sikh history and that inspired me enough to wear a turban. You could say I believed in the Guru but didn't necesarily follow. I didn't see the need to go all the way.
A singh invited me to do waheguru simran. had an experience that was overwhelming. It felt like an awakening, like I was being absorbed into something. It was scary, and I pulled away, but I wanted to experience it again.
I signed up for a Sikhi camp where we did simran and kirtan everyday. I just tried to sing along with the kirtan and especially when we chanted Waheguru. This time it wasn't scary, because I was expecting it. It was actually quite blissful and I started to fall in love with God and Guru.
I realized that Sikhi makes sense once you've had an experience of simran. There is a difference of people trying to follow Sikhi just because of morals. felt so much love at the camp with young people.
My life changed. I went to receive Amrit shortly after (later Jagraj Singh started Basics of Sikhi). It was all through simran... and sangat. There were some mahapurkhs at the camps. The talks were really good. The love comes from all places, but the simran solidifies it.
I loved the camp so much, I wanted to make a testimonial video to let people know about it. Its funny to see how that was a beginning to what we do now with the Basics of Sikhi youtube channel.
I couldn't do my Banis so my Panj told me I could start with doing 1 hour of simran per day. So I started doing simran every morning at the Gurdwara in Southall.
Sikhi isn't just about the morals. Its about the experience of God.
Its a journey of learning how to focus during simran. Sometimes, especially when you're at home doing it by yourself, its hard to focus. So then I focus on the sound of my own voice. Then I try to imagine myself calling God. Sometimes I would visualize the word "Waheguru". Another way is to focus on a point. A lot of people focus on 3rd eye. When you focus on one place, it makes you "ekaagar" which means unified focus. You can also focus on dasam duar (tenth gate) because that is also where you experience God.
Its hard to describe the experience of simran. Those who have experienced it, know what its like. There is a lot of bliss in simran. Sometimes it doesn't come straight away. When you start off it might take 30 min to get something out of it. After a lot of experience you'll get into it right away. This is kamai (earning). Its like a job, you don't get paid a lot right from the start.
Simran, seva, sangat, and paath all help keep you in a higher mental state and keep on expanding. You keep getting more gifts, and you start to see more truth. Don't get proud of your spiritual achievements, because they are all just gifts. Just remain thankful. Be grateful to even have the thirst for God.
Don't be scared of crying. This is part of the game of love. People don't understand simran. One aunti stopped me from crying, and ruined my experience. The average Sikh doesn't understand this relationship of love between the Sikh and the Guru and God. They won't understand you, so don't expect them to.
If you start on this love story its a powerful love story in your life. I just try to remember that if Guru ji isn't smiling upon us in Grace then its all a waste. When Guru smiles upon you, is when He lets you experience Him. All of us can have that experience.

@Pardeep Klair things in this world also cause alot of pain not just cancer.
Even in that cancers cell is the law of this cosmos. Your asking the above to relate..relate to what exactly? He can only relate to what resonates with his own soul.

@Pardeep Klair i didnt answer anything thinking i was correct and to me u r a phenji. Are we not all akal purakhs wives? And akal purakh our husband lord. Dont get angry when its u making assumptions. I was just asking u a simple question as to what ur asking him to relate too. May waheguru bless u angry soul

@Pardeep Klair ur a bloke? . No real man would talk the way u are. If u find it funny by disrespecting ur husband lord carry on with lol. Ur no man..doesnt matter how much u make believe u are. The only assumptions are coming from you and calling someone low level minded...makes u what? Amazed by ur thoughts seriously. Again, may waheguru bless u phenji

Bhai Jagraj singh will be missed dearly.
We should keep in mind that Gurbani says its not good or bad happening, it is just happening.
We as manmukh assume what is good or what is bad. i.e its unrelated to Gurbani but just as example, in medieval times slavery was legal and justifiable, and now its illegal and bad, same with racial discrimination.
As you asked why a saint and good person dies.
We termed Death as a bad thing and becoming judgmental. its not bad thing its just a reality and happening.
As Bhai Jagraj offen says Gurbani helps you to became tolerant and helps you to bear the hardship and torture. Gurbani never says its miracle and save you from death or make you rich and happy. It will helps you to endure the pain and to have a peaceful reunion with Akaal purakh.
    Phul Chuk maaf.

Its seems its magic number for salvation for some reason these Gursikhs who done so much parchar and kurbani for Sikhi and Sikhs die before their 40 because Waheguru recalls them back to him for endless peace, bliss happiness they suffer no pain, death and sorrow like humans have to suffer in cycles of life and death.

I always wanted to meet him. I'm from the same town as he was Hayes. My hometown. I live in Manchester now and used to see him at the talks here but I could never get a one on one with him. Then it's like someone or thing listened to me and when i was in London Hayes visiting my family I went to my local Salisbury's and saw him standing alone shopping and my brother mentioned thats Jugraj and i got to speak to him and hugged him and told him how much he made me understand my own faith and be a better person and meditate. He was still in high spirits even though the cancer had eaten away at him, I saw him 4/5 months ago now. I will never forget that. He said to me he was never angry at all that he got this cancer as he's lived such a good life and was lucky to have such great people around him. What a great attitude to have even in the face of death. I will never forget that moment in my life.

That’s not true . Sikh sangat is not that strong because of our corrupted leaders but men and women are equal.
