Hellow I appreciate your videos they are so breathtaking,, I have the same Engine in South Africa that I would like to turbo it having been impressed 👍 by you,, may I please know what did you do with regard to compression
Glad you enjoyed it. We just used a megane 225 headgasket to reduce cylinder temperatures/pressure but there is no requirement to do so. All other compression parts remained standard.
Valves and their machine work was about £700. Excluding the valves other machine work was approx £550 and parts were around £850. Sourcing good quality base engine parts was the most difficult and took a long time. Cost approx £350. Blasting and zinc plating was around £150 for the engine parts. All excluding labour. Hope that helps :)
They’re tumble cleaned and plated by a company called TSR vapour blasting. The box had an issue as it was incorrectly assembled when the diff was fitted but if it was put together correctly would have been no trouble. I don’t own the car anymore but understand it’s all working well
Hey mate, simple question but I’m thinking of re sealing the crank end plate like you’ve done (3.47) as I’m unsure if it’s leaking aswell as rear main, is it much of a process to do and what do you use, I’ve got the engine out of the car, cheers in advance
Hey, that my friend is normal silicone you can get at screwfix. The official repair procedure says to use it :). Pretty easy job, need to be careful getting the cap off as it isn’t easy with the old muck still in there. Be careful not to get any gunk in the engine and wipe off excess as you see us do.
More or less yes. I used a Megane head gasket to reduce combustion temperatures, Megane keywayed crank pulley and super tech valves although none of those are technically required.
Hi chaps where are you guys based, would you be interested in fitting some forged rods pistons and arp bits and bobs and a turbo kit using gt30 on low boost. Basically drive in drive out service Essex ?? Alex at aw engineering?? Thanks
Hey, AW Motorworks is based near Standstead and can do all sorts or custom work including turbo conversions, cams, timing etc. I’m not a mechanic so would leave it to him!!
Pedro1987 no idea and I don’t want to find out but lots of cars run very similar to me 6-7 psi for years without issues. I have known a couple of cars with more but you start to have issues with ringlands if you run anymore so forging is required above about 260 bhp.
242 which is a perfect number for the chassis. F4RT isn’t stronger and has very weak ringlands. I had an f4rt 182 and there was lots of compromise. It lost a ringland at 280 bhp and others loose them at less. The turbo set up on it is significantly bigger which gives firewall clearance issues and you would also lose the VVT which the f4r has. The gearbox requires custom driveshafts and the chassis leg needs notching to fit. It’s a big pain and more expensive sadly.
Hi there! I'm about to rebuild my engine to std spec though nothing fancy. The cost is getting closer to 2k and the guys that will do the build say that on most of their builds they replace the crank also with a new one. Are they that bad? Can it be rectified somehow? I'm quite positive that the journals are fine so the last thing I'm thinking is that it can be bent somehow. What are the tolerances in which a "good crank"should fit? You seem to have measured yours in this particular build an that's why I'm asking. I don't even want to think at a new crank because the cost will skyrocket... Thanks!
Not surprised it’s not a cheap business. In the first video there’s a little section which shows the crank measurements and what’s required. Drop me a message on Cliosport.net, username GrahamS and I’ll send over the measurement specs. Most difficult bit is finding a standard block without scored or oval bores.

Subscribed. Just got a 172 cup myself
It's nice to see some real dedication go into building an engine, really enjoyed the series so far keep up the good work!
Thanks Andrew really appreciate that. Lots of planning went into it only to be executed in such a short time!
Best engine ever made.
Rolls-Royce Merlin built the prototype.
You're basically driving a Spitfire.
Really love you channel. I am building a turbo 172 using Efi FMI as controller and really get a lot of good info from here.
Thanks matey, glad it’s useful. Those EFI modules are really good from what I’ve heard. Nice and easy to install as well!
@@TrackItYT I am from Romania and no one help me with anything else except standalone which is not cheap. Keep safe
Good job 🙌

Great project where to get tightening sheet screws and everything?
Thank you :) I found it on the Cliosport forum. F4r engine manual
You said you’ve just put a new crank pulley on. I assume it’s a keyed crank pulley as you’re going boosted?
It’s both actually, so keyed megane pulley but also new dampened pulley.
Mate, I think you know the answer.
Hi, great video! Many thanks. Which oil sprayers did you use? Cheers!
OEM Renault
If you don't mind me asking, what sort of expense was this?

Great work! What did you do with the fasteners, are they new or did you electroplate them? 2 years on how has the gearbox fared?

@@TrackItYT Thanks! I have an engine out mini restoration ongoing on my 182, the videos have been helpful. Need to get all the fasteners shiny again.
Where did you get the galv bolts from for the engine ?
I had the original bolts tumble cleaned and yellow zinc passivated by a company called TSR Vapour Blasting.

Hello the engine parts are original? And original parts is ok for turbo power ?
More or less yes. I used a Megane head gasket to reduce combustion temperatures, Megane keywayed crank pulley and super tech valves although none of those are technically required.
What mods have you done to the gearbox?
@@darshanaidoo2 it had a gripper diff and therefore used a ph1 172 short driveshaft. I had an RTS hybrid clutch on a ttv racing flywheel.

How much hp you made with 6/7 psi? The f4rt block is a good idea? Or spends much more and need more parts to run on clio?

Do know any cheap mods for the 1.6L K7M engine?

Standard cams mate ?
Yep they’re best for boost.

Can you not make it produce 1000hp?
