Although triforce's light effect is specifically designed to work with worms. I'm not sure if there's any lore there, or they just figured they had to because of the limited card pool you had playing Duel Terminals

I lost to WTH (Worms Traptrix Hands) in a regional in 2014, I thought it was so cool I asked the guy for his list and built it myself to play at locals lol

There were so many variants of plants around this time. You had the more standard Tengu plant deck that would become more popular in September 2011. And then you had Chaos Plants, Doppel Plants/Junk Doppel, Water Tengu Plants, and even Formula Monarchs could be argued as a variation of plants. Really interesting time period for the game.
If they pull out Formula Monarchs, its gonna get nutty. I think they might dedicate an epjsode to jt. Specifically when Hyper Librarian is available to them. - Ryu
When we get to it and it isn't that far away, I would love to see them mess with the SanGuide format. See initially Konami of America ruled that monsters detached from Xyz monsters left the field so that allowed cards like Sangan and the focus of this episode, Reborn Tengu to trigger. The format got its name from TGU and Sangan, the best Rank 3 engine at the time. Now obviously KoA were overruled by their Japanese counterpart but that initial ruling almost ruined Yugioh for 90% of the player base.

Please tell me you guys are going to do full-power Tengu Plants vs Fish Trish Loop FTK when you get to Nats 2011. I can't imagine a pair of decks more diametrically opposed: Tengu Plants can create a 5-monster, 5S/T, 5 cards in hand board on turn 1, and Fish Trish Loop FTK rips all 5 cards out of the opponent's hand and sets up the board to rip the card they drew for their turn by going into Trish via Formula Synchron the moment the opponent says "Main Phase"; a deck that creates limitless advantage for itself vs a deck that can take everything away from the opponent.
2011 was peak Yugioh. I played competitively a ton during this time, what a great year for the game. I imagine next week we'll see the Tengu Plant deck people know from 2011 with the Tour Guides but hoping it goes up against Tengu Scrap or T.G. Stun.
Genex Ally Triforce's Light effect is specifically related to its Hidden Arsenal lore, since each effect is based off a different archetype. This is also the first and only time Hidden Arsenal lore has has influence in the meta in some way, because everything is shit outside of that.

Rata really did do worms an injustice by including them in legacy of the worthless. there's definitely a reason he considers that one of his worst videos.
It's super interesting to see how much synergy the Genex have with the Worms. In terms of story, it is a very curious duality, as the Worms are invading monsters while the Genex are bio-organic machines made by the planet being invaded to fend off the invaders. They both adapt through the same methods, although the Genex are able to be purposfully upgraded, which leads to the Genex Allies and R-Genex in the first place. To see the Worms and Genex able to complement each other so well....it draws up a number of questions regarding exactly what the origin of the Worms and the planet the Genex defend are. Also I'm laughing at Rata's categorizing Worms as worthless as they can dish out some strong damage in the right format.

This is the format that I played Gravekeeper Scraps. The ability to synchro summon into any lvl 8 synchro with just Scrap Chimera alone was very strong back then. Was especially powerful when paired up with spell/traps like Solemn Warning and book of moon. Scraptstorm also helped to search Scrap Chimera even quicker and to help dodge the opponents trap cards at times too.

As someone who championed Dopplewarrior.dek... Cimo's plays here hurt. He could have won the first game if he was just a little bit more aggressive and used his Birdmen to special summon and not Normal Summon.
Both seem to have forgotten that Tengu triggers if it is bounced back to the hand and later MBT returns it himself with his Worm and neither of them take notice. And how can somebody forget the reason why he is even playing 3 Birdmen in the first place?

This is one of my favourite match ups and I'm so happy that despite I'm team cimooo I cannot deny the worm deck as one of my personal favourite deck I've taken to locals (summon xex set 4 back row was my classic turn 1) I hope I see more worm support in the future since the reason I picked the deck was my group of friends dumped the deck on me as it was unplayable and the rest were all playing blackwings x saber and other meta decks. Good thing w nebula came out later. I look forward to more awesomeness of this channel content in all sealed showdown, progression and history. Keep it up cimo
My favorite part of history of yugioh recently is just watching these dudes having so much fun in the match that they want to play a game 3. I feel like sometimes yugitube content doesn’t shine on just how fun this game is sometimes (not counting the game 3s that were because of ftks)
That game 1 was insane! Perfect game play and reads from both players. "What's the punish, reborn?" "If I pass and you advirse I'm going to cry." I love Yugioh.
Worm is one of the earliest decks I played. Very simple but quite fun. Meteorite is so strong. And MBT is right, it’s similar to Subterror Guru control.
Is there anybody else here who fell out of YuGiOh literal years ago, has no idea what 90% of these cards do but still just can't stop watching these? Because not only did I actually start playing again and STILL not be able to follow this for the life of me but I'm still having lovely times. Just wondering if I'm a weird Yugi-Boomer on my own.
I quit back in like 06, but came back in 2015 to play online. It took forever to learn, but wasnt too bad once I realized that a lot of cards are just bad/ retrains of cards that already existed. Theres like 20 Trap Hole cards, for example, and 4 saw competitive play.
@@Mr_Giraffe989 It helps me not get burned out with it that I don't care one whit about meta in...anything, really. I'll play all 20 trap holes just to see what the hell happens. It's a lovely game that can allow so many different ways to play. You can play wwith meta, tournament decks trying to build the next big thing or you can say "hehe, big frog" and try to play an off meta fusion or the like.
just watched the video and you said it didnt top ever again, but I remember it even winning a tournament I played. Its not the most prestigeous but I remember playing dragon duel at the german nationals around 2013 and losing in the final to an anti meta worm deck. The guy won an invitation to WCQ combined with a flight and a hotel for 2 which would be around 500$. My firefist deck simply got destroyed by all these worms and now whenever I see them it feels like I got a PTSD
The thing about meteorite is that it would be decent and a worthwhile include with the first 2 effects. becomes an excellent card with the first 3 effects, and the 4th just seems like guilding the lilly at that point.
While W Nebula Meteorite was released a mere 2 months before PSCT, the 'after that' would mean that you can summon the reptile monster regardless of if you set any monsters.
As someone watching these who stopped playing for a long time now, and now knows how to play modern; I think modern yugioh started a lot more early than people like me realize, really the game just gets just get faster.
So since the Yagan that was summoned from the GY in game 2 was flipped up, and then back down, it shouldn’t have been banished when tributed by Worm King.
Im seeing a serious lack of Worm Victory in that deck. People always underestimated that card. It combo'd exceptionally well with pre-erratta Future Fusion and Worm Zero.
Only thing that I noticed was that MBT banished yagan when it was reset off of the meteorite and the lingering effect it places on itself no longer applies, but aside from that insanely good set! I love worm control and only wish they'd get actual decent support

I played that format too. There was one YCS that had like 16 different decks in the top 32. And most were on equal footing.

This is honestly a great episode I loved the end of game one so much! And both decks felt strong with how much back and forth there ended up being.
This episode showed the power of archetypes with cards that actually work together over "good stuff" decks.

He was going for Black Rose. Special summoning birdman would only make sense if he wasn't going for black rose.

The thing about meteorite is that it would be decent and a worthwhile include with the first 2 effects. becomes an excellent card with the first 3 effects, and the 4th just seems like guilding the lilly at that point.
While W Nebula Meteorite was released a mere 2 months before PSCT, the 'after that' would mean that you can summon the reptile monster regardless of if you set any monsters.

As someone watching these who stopped playing for a long time now, and now knows how to play modern; I think modern yugioh started a lot more early than people like me realize, really the game just gets just get faster.

Im seeing a serious lack of Worm Victory in that deck. People always underestimated that card. It combo'd exceptionally well with pre-erratta Future Fusion and Worm Zero.

People at my locals around this time told me I was an idiot for playing Unknown Synchron in my Blackwings. That was until I dropped a first turn Red Nova Dragon.
Really hope they pick up the crazy T.G. deck that skips synchro summoning and uses the phantom beast trap and reborn tengu!
