Ursarctics - Failed Cards, Archetypes, and Sometimes Mechanics in Yu-Gi-Oh

- “How can an archetype have a “Draw 7” Spell Card and still be trash?”
This is a direct quote from Ursarctic players on almost every Reddit format. Ursarctic was Konami’s attempt to bring the Dark Synchro summoning method seen on Yugioh 5Ds to life. Like my decisions, Dark Synchro summoning does everything completely backward by using the total difference between a Tuner and Non-Tuner levels instead of adding the total sum of them like the standard Synchro Summoning method. While the idea is entertaining, we all had one question. Will it be good? You see the name of this video, so more needs to be said. Let’s explain why Ursarctics joined the Failed Card Hall of Fame.

Even in an archetype explicitly themed around and named after bears, they still get a robot dragon boss monster. Unbelievable.
All it's missing now is a few dozen of those konami orbs™️
It's not a boss monster, it's an extender.
They team up with robot dragons called drytrons
Konami b3 addicted
But....all the boss monsters are Robot Bears.
Ursarctic would have been halfway to being saved if the Level 8 monsters all said "you can Special Summon this card from your hand without tributing if you control a Level 7 'Ursarctic' monster."
Or if their special summon effect could also be used as a graveyard effect.
Time for a field spell!
Just give them Kashtira summon effects. Problem solved (and new one introduced)
No, if only their mechanic works from the grave and are also able to tribute monsters from the field like their Drytron counterparts. Literally a small fix like that would make the deck way better.
The only thing that I got out of this failed cards video was that I should start building BearhasBears.
Fun Fact: Ursarctic is redundantly named.
Ursa being Bear
Arct being also Bear
And Arctic means “Has Bears” unlike how the Antarctic “Doesn’t have Bears”
In other words. “Bears have Bears”
Another Fun Fact: the reason Ursarctic Randomly crossed over with Drytron is because the Constellations the Archetypes are named after ACTUALLY cross over into each other.
Beary Bears in Space. Who are also mecha. What's not to love?
if it wasn't for Ursatron Alpha and Polar Star, Bearhasbeens would've been more appropriate :P
Not quite cross over, they're just bordering.
The Ultimate Flagship references the procession of the equinox, which connects them via the movement of the North Celestial Pole through both constellations.
Idk what Bright Knight is though
I absolutely adore the aesthetics of this archetype and learning that they got a top in any format at all felt like a heavy whiff of smelling salts straight to the sinuses
Ursarctics are related through the Drytrons through the actual celestial constellations in the far northern sky. Drytrons are based on constellations in the sign Draco, and the ursarctics are based on Ursa minor and major, which are directly next to Draco. I think it's amazing Konami made support for both archetypes, even if it sucks.
Also the fact that both go into their boss monsters in unconventional ways. Drytrons use ATK instead of Levels to Ritual Summon, and Ursarctics use the difference in levels rather than the sums to go into Synchros.
I'm pretty sure they are lore related and fight each other. With Ursarctic seemingly win by absorbing Alpha Thuban into their space carrier.
@@CrnaStrelathat's a reference to another Astronomical phenomenon, called the "procession of the equinox", i.e. the slow drifing of the Earth's North Celestial Pole relative to the stars.
The Ursarctics appear to have "won" only because the NCP moved from Draco (closest to Thuban, aka Alpha Draconics) to where it is now, near Polaris, in Ursa Minor.
Procession is a circle though, so in the future, the NCP will leave Ursa Minor, and in the much further future, it will in fact return to Draco.
What really gets me is that they even made something based on obscure things like the Sargasso sea. Although sadly, that's just two cards and not really an archetype, which is a shame.
They might also be the only game company to actually put the literal god of the Bible onto a card archetype, namely "Sephylon, the Ultimate Timelord" ^^
Am I the only one that feels happy that there might still be hope for this archetype? It’s honestly a much more happier ending than the other Failed Archetype episodes so far.
It actually became a tier 3 deck in duel links for a short time. On guy combined them with synchrons and was doing great with them then a banlist happen.
@@dantevicI mean with the new support from Duelist Nexus, they’re at least a fun rogue deck than can catch someone by surprise. Which is the exact reason I’ve stuck with Dinomist after all these years.
It did get third in a ocg tournament but that's ocg and no one is playing them here in the tcg
It'd be funny if it turned out to be a Dark World situation where for multiple formats people believed they were a bad deck, but revisiting those formats you can see that Dark World was often the best archetype in the format.
@@dantevic
It did top 2 kc cup stage 2s if im not wrong, it also was one of the most played decks on duel links worlds, and most of the limits on synchrons were lifted, so the deck may bounce back a bit.
My biggest gripe with Ursarctic isn't that they're bad (they can be a half decent F-around deck in solo mode and some festivals), but that they don't count towards Synchro summons for missions
This also screws the deck itself over, -since none of its Synchros count as properly summoned.-
Correction: if you bring out an Ursarctic Synchro by its described method, it is considered properly summoned.
However, these monsters are considered _only_ special summonable by their described method because that method doesn't read „must _first_ be special summoned...“ but only „must be special summoned...“, and since it only describes how to summon them from the Extra Deck, they'll just stay in the graveyard or the banished zone once they get there.
Monsters like this are called Nomi monsters and other examples are LV monsters such as Armed Dragon LV10 or Horus, the Black Flame Dragon LV8.
The only way to summon such monsters back from the grave or from being banished would be an effect that ignores summoning conditions (such as Level Modulation) but even that only works if they had been properly summoned before they were banished or sent to the graveyard.
Special summon from extra deck is not a regular synchro sumon feelsbadman
also rip the monster reborn enjoyers
I thought they couldn't get any worse. Damn that sucks
Feels like they could've made it proper Synchro by wording it, "For this card's Synchro summon, you must send monsters from your field to the graveyard with a level difference of [x], and you cannot special summon this card (from the Extra Deck) by other ways" so it couldn't be cheated out but can still get reborned. Then put the Synchro materials in the usual line.
Just removing the "Can't be synchro summoned" clause and adding a "this counts as a synchro summon" clause solves the "properly summoned" ruling and allows you to resurrect them without issues
Dark Synchro should be treated as Synchro Summon even in Polari.
This will forever be the "awful draw 7 archetype" to me
For me it’s gonna be “Spellbook”, surprisingly
@@supremeking6694but spellbooks were practically tier 0 and stopped Dragon rulers, the most powerful and broken archetype to date, from becoming tier 0
@@TheGreatSalsaMan Currently, not back then
The "build a bear deck" is a great second name for it 😂
@@supremeking6694at least spellbook saw competitive play
Ursatic won't and probably never going to see any play bc of their terrible gimmick
The end of the video is probably the happiest epilogue for fans of older and more janky archetypes: The hope that, with enough support, your favorite archetype can be playable in a casual environment.
With enough patience even us suship players will see a top.
*Note: Polari says "activate "..." from the deck", not add to the hand, so the card can't be Ash'ed.
5:22 Small note, you can't Ash Blossom Polari. Playing Spell/Traps from deck is one of the few blind spots Ash has. That said, something like Veiler or Imperm would absolutely stop you dead in your tracks.
Considering he thought it was added to hand and you shouldn't have more than 1 copy of radiation in deck shows he never played it.
@@lightdragoon88
I will say this video 100% feels like it was the result of him narrating over a script he didn’t write. At least not with any real experience.
@@m0002856 at least it showing who here in the comments section actually play it.
The moment he said that Polari adds Big Dipper to the hand I'm like, did he actually just say that?
@@m0002856 i think its a honest mistake
This is one of those archetypes that actually translated well to Duel Links and were pretty good even without their new support. It had several things going for it:
- Smaller decks made drawing Radiation and Departure more likely
- Yusei had a skill that allowed you to discard a lvl 2 or lower machine or warrior to search a synchron. Discard any level 1 synchron to get Synchron Explorer which let you summon Polari with 1 card consistently.
- On the topic of the previous skill, it had another ability to cheat out Shooting Quasar Dragon if you can summon Stardust Dragon, giving the deck a threating endgame
- The lack of Ash Blossom makes it hard to kill the deck turn 1
- It came out in a period where Orcusts were everywhere, and Septentrion could shut down that deck
So surprisingly, Ursatrics were good (albeit bricky) in that game and was even tiered in DLM
Funnily enough, Ursarctics are played with Yusei in Duel Links to go into Shooting Quasar Dragon with his skill.
As an Ursarctic player, i know the deck has some short comings.
I'm still holding out that theyre missing some members to round out their team to have 7. The level 8s are just a transformed version of their level 7 counterparts. And the level 7 synchros are the level 8s after being amped by Polari's energy. So that means they could get a third synchro monster for the third bear.
And to be that guy.... 118 days since last Ursarctic support.
Wanted to add this to mention some mistakes.
Mikpolar searches Ursarctic Monsters, not cards.
Miktanus adds an Ursarctic Monster from the GY to hand, not special summon them. Though that would make it better, or adding any Ursarctic card in GY to hand.
Polari directly activates Big Dipper from the deck, not add it to hand. So I don't think it can be Ash'd
Big Dipper's Change of Heart effect can be activated by you, not just your opponent.
@@lovethatdarkness And to add to that, Big Dipper can steal a face down card so idk how that helps but it does coming from a fellow player
@@TheSeeingman Niche counter to Subterrors and Ninjas?
@@lovethatdarkness Anyone's guess now but Megatanus flipping then stealing is a funny combo. It's funny they have a counter to face down monster decks that might have an effect if removed
I literally used this as a cheap level 7 option for Kashtiras in master duel. Unironically, I prefer to normal summon the level 7 BES monster because it’s better than using the ursarctic
I remember one solo mode duel in Master Duel sticking me with Ursarctics. I had no idea how it was supposed to work because it felt like I was committing my entire hand to summon one mediocre guy. Turns out I wasn't missing anything, it's just bad.
Your videos are always an inspiration, resolving complicated mechanics and brought to the community in digestable pieces.
Thanks for your always great content!
Just hearing that quote at the beginning and not having watched the video yet, any archetype that could resolve a "Draw 7" spell card with anything close to consistency would get that card banned in a hot second, so they must not be able to do it.
They can actually find in consistently now, the deck just loses to every single board breaker (even a single kaiju or imperm is often times enough) and it struggles getting through any type of interruption going second
The funniest part about Konami haphazardly stapling Drytrons to an archetype that prevents you from using Xyz or Link monsters is the fact that they also gave Drytrons an Xyz monster.
Not as bad as the Drytron restriction stopping you from even special summoning your main deck Ursarctics to begin with. They were smoking something when they did this
It should also be mentioned that the Ursarctic/Drytron collaboration also don't work because both archetypes gives the user a restriction that hampers the other archetype that they are supposed to work with. Ursarctics makes it so you can only special summon monsters with levels, and drytron have a XYZ monster which is necessary for there combos and protection. Drytron gives a restriction to where you can only special summon monsters that can't be normal summoned or set, which locks ALL of the main deck Ursarctics, and therefor turns them into bricks. both decks combo potential hinders the other for no reason. plus the cards that work with both archetypes, work better for Ursarctics then Drytron, due to the monsters being too high level or Drytron already having similar cards or effects that work better for them.
I think Bright Knight Fake Alpha works in Ursarctic mostly because of Mikpolar; it allows the deck to put a body on board to fulfill Fake Alpha's activation condition while pulling the Fake Alpha out of the Deck where it can be used.
By contrast, Drytron has some 6 cards it can use to pull a name out of the deck and *none* of them are capable of getting it into a meaningful position. Half of them can't even find it in the first place because it's level and attribute are out of whack for Drytron, and the other half either put it in the GY where it's effect is unuseable, or special it straight to the field where it's effect also cannot be activated (that one is also the only spell worth searching in Drytron, and is a hard once per turn, so even if it did activate it wouldn't be that helpful).
Ngl this card makes me irrationally miffed lol
Is there a possibility that you can do "GIMMICK PUPPETS" at some point? (Used to play and love the deck back in the day, but man! This archtype got some problems)
1. You are mostly locked to only using gimmick puppets with dready doll
2. Magnet doll need your opponent to have a monster on the field, so if you start, then its a brick card
3. With the lock to only puppet monster there are usually only the play with 2 out of the 3 puppet xyz (the rank 8 ones)
4. You cannot do much with the string counters mechanic (why are they even there if its only for 1 Cxyz monster)
5. Non of the effects are quick effects, so basically they can be countered pretty easy
6. The protection with the baby and the other doll arent really big for the time they came out - but gigantes doll is nice :)
7. Most of the printed gimmick puppet monster were so bad, that one was only used for locking your opponent and not in gimmick decks and the cards like the trojan puppet or the joker never saw actually big play
8. The gimmick spell and traps are mostly underwhelming
9. In duel links they would see a useful amount of play since they burn your opponent and you have only 4000 LP but for the regular card game they do not enough damage
10. LEO!!!!! I mean, what were they thinking???
11. For your gimmick puppet plays you have to go minus in card advantage a lot of the time :( and the endboard isnt that great at the end
12. WHAT IS EGGHEADS PROBLEM? CANT YOU JUST BE NORMAL?
13. I waited a 100 years for some gimmick Support, but the konami guys have forsaken me :,(
P.s: i remebered that during this time they also banned the only good rank-up spell card (i think it was silver chaos, the one you get back from the graveyard).
I think they banned it because of some utopia stuff you did during that time but not sure anymore
Poor Leo. His Cxyz in case you actually manage to summon it is a "win more" card, but the original one leaves you plain wide open.
@@clownplayer7265 The clown part of this card was: no spell or traps for you for 3 turns and no protection
I was devastated when i saw this card and only had it, cause it made my extradeck look bigger xD
@@lastchanceamv
I know instant win conditions require some level of clunkiness just to have some concept of balance, but no spells of traps was probably too far.
On top of all that, the only GP that sees play is Gimmick Puppet Nightmare since if you can shit one out on your opponents field, they're pretty much screwed from special summoning
@@NarumiButterfly True!! When i dug up my old puppet deck and saw that nightmare was the only expensive card between them i started to google why that is.
When i saw Branded Despia with only this GP i was like: "nah, there has to be something with the puppet restrictions" and i was right :3
It's a gimmick because of the synchro pool but ursarctic tuners aren't archetype-locked, so you can tech them into dragonmaids: high level monsters that are fine in the graveyard, mixed with level 2s and 3s to synchro summon with.
For those who understand the connection between Drytron and Ursarctic,. if I could remember fully,. The main characters on the OCG Structure deck manga are mainly using those archtypes..The main protagonist is primarily using the Ursarctic while his rival is supposed to be the Drytron player.
Now that Mr. Logs made this video Ursarctics would get new support
Can you please make umbral horror failed card and mechanics so Konami could print them support?
I'm actually shocked they don't have more support. All the Barian Emperor decks deserve more support like Sharks got. Imagine if they got cards that mixed them better with Malicevorus so we can drop Umbral Horror Masquerade and Djinn Buster.
Your video honestly helped me decide that I really do want to play this deck. I love space, synchros, and bears even if it won't be that good.
They are very cheap too in Duel links, master duel, and real life.
Play what you love! Don't let the meta get drilled into your head :)
(This is coming from someone who plays Blue-Eyes, and I get stuck with bricks lmao)
meta is temporary, style is eternal. Plus you can still have good games with lower power decks, just get some friends to bring some equally rogue stuff!
Theoretically, if you can summon Polar Star, and have Ursarctic Drytron in GY, you can turbo out Septentrion/Grand Chariot with added Fusion/Synchro SD for your opponent. Generically, no lock, three total card slots. Polar Star stays as further material options.
Couple of correction for the beginning. Miktanus adds ursarctic from gy to hand dosent Special summon and polari activates big dipper from deck and dosent add to hand
Friendly reminder from an ursarctic player, ursarctic isn't that bad as it used to be, as more and more high level cards get released the deck's power grows, you can put in icejades, kashtira, centurion, plus the new DUNE support makes it way more easy to get the draw 7 card(radiation), in master duel ppl went master 1 without this dune support, isn't much but it's def better than some really failed/old archetypes, give us mechabears some love🥺
Precisely this. It has been playable since Battle Of Chaos imo. Especially with all the cards printed between then and Nexus which boost the deck.
its so sad because it has one of the best card artworks in the game. love the mech designs
You can still use them in master duel in master rank once the new support out, just like evil eyes, silent performer deck are the most harder to duel against because people don't expect it to be played.
I wouldn't be surprised in the next half year this archetype gets more support since you did a video on it.
Ursarctic Lore Video? Please and Thank You. I'm sure that has something to do with why Urs and Dry were seemingly forced together.
For such fantastic art, I'm hurt that the archtype is so bad.
theyre still pretty cool for having a dark synchro and a fusion monster that fuses 2 field spells
Polari activate big dipper directly from deck so i don't think your opp can ash it, although 1 imperm still ends your turn. Although as a dl player who saw this deck on its prime, its pretty much a fun deck there kekw.
The reason Drytron and Usrarctic combo support exists is actually because of their design origin! Ursarctic is based on the Ursa constellations (specifically Ursa Major) because the big dipper forms the head of ursa major and it has 7 stars. Drytron is based on the Draconids constellation (which is actually a dragon so it makes more sense for them to be dragons instead of machines but whatever) which you can see on the art of the ritual spell. Both archetypes' monsters are named directly by the stars found within either constellation.
The two archetypes intertwine because the tail of draconids actually lies _between_ ursa major and ursa minor
For the Ursarctics, unfortunately only Polari is named after a specific star. The maindeck Ursas, afaik, are named after the three (major?) species of bear (Black, Brown, Polar).
The other two synchros are named after alternate names for the Big Dipper asterism the archetype is themed around.
Ursarctic with Lava Golem or Kaijus and the Adventure Token Engine was pretty decent.
Ursartic my beloved
I don’t know if anyone else has pointed this out but Polari’s second effect is to activate the field spell directly from the deck, so you can’t Ash to prevent Big Dipper.
8:53 Fun fact, despite theem being synchros, since they are all special summons only, it can bypass cards that limit synchro summoning like Contact "C"
The weirdest part about this archetype is that, THIS, out of ALL THE DECKS AND ARCHETYPES, is the closest we got to an adaptation of the "Dark Synchro Summon" mechanic seen in YuGiOh 5D's......
The 2nd thing being their connection to DRYTRON
8:42 I guess because "WATER Attribute" and "cosmic theme"....
13:30 emergency update
It's a small thing, but I've noticed the duel logs often speaks in the past tense about these cards. "It WAS a beast-warrior type monster". But...it still is
It is fun to use Polari as synchro material for some of the Shooting Star synchro monsters or others that require a synchro monster to summon
We just kinda ignoring that its topped in the ocg multiple times at this point, right? not just the one at the end
Meanwhile in Duel Links, Ursarctic is basically meta lol. Although before this video came out, I definitely noticed how fragile the deck was to interruption. One good book of moon and then you have an overwhelming sensation to just scoop. They make me think of a strong boxer with a glass jaw. They either get you, or you get them.
Ursarctic isnt meta rn, its a strong rogue.
The meta right now is:
T2 -
Live ☆ twins
Tenyi
Rokkets
T3 -
Cyberse clock
Odd eyes
Gandora
S force
Trickstar
Salad
Neos yubel
Something i do really appreciate about the Ursarctic support is how they needed to make one card useful for 2 different archetypes at once (Drytron and Ursarctic). They could've (and realistically should have) made 2 seperate cards, one that more specifically supports each, but it's nice to see that they work okay. At least Bright Knight works better for Ursarctics than it does Drytrons. Drytrons does not need extension, it just needs consistency, which this only kind of provided.
Ursarctics are gundams, I adore the artwork and the idea behind it so much and I even slipped in 3 drytron lvl1s and 2 of the rituals to make full use of the fusion, along with lava golems and kaiju's for discard fodder.. after buying it, I slowly lost faith and realised it's the meta or nothing... I bitterly chose to quit after this failed archetype.
Awesome. I was using prediction princess to help. I don’t think that newer support is in md yet tho
Their artworks are really cool!
Anybody else remember that one challenge in Master Duel solo mode that gives you these cards? That was painful, so bricky it felt entirely luck based
You know. This reminds me. With the cards linking Raidraptors & Phantom Knights. It might be a reference to Yuto & Shun's friendship which is dumb. But at least both of their decks were XYZ focused.
With this video, I finally understand what Ursatic is trying to do. Never wrapped my head around it before. L.1 Synchro ? Drytron?
Ursarctic is underrated, specifically because people don't understand how they function. Don't get me wrong, they're still bad because they can't handle being interrupted, but if they don't get interrupted, they set up good boards.
I remember playing them during Salad format, where you were able to see a Salad deck 50% of the time. That was 50% a free win. The other 30% was Dragon Link, which wasn't free because they have other options, but you had the advantage because Septentrion ruined their consistency.
The standard Ursarctic combo requires three cards not four, because the small bears recure cards. Also the cards you tribute can be anything.
They're meant to be played alongside high-level hand traps. Nibiru, Phantazmey, Zoo King Alpha, Pankrotops. These protect you going second, but also become fodder going first.
They did not use your normal, letting you be a bit more creative with builds. Personally preferred Halq, because of all the shenanigans, plus it baits out handtraps. Screw Auroradon, that's brick city, just Halq was fine. Because Halq leaves field as cost it is not affected by Sept. Which means you can summon any quick sync. Now that Halq is gone, you have other options again.
Surprisingly, the fusion is actually really good. All it costs is your searchable field spell, and it gives you either free recursion every turn even opponents, or sac it to get the other sync. It's not even bricky because Drytron field searches the fusion spell.
Draw seven was nice, but not what the deck needed. It fixes the risky loss of card advantage, but so did the fusion so that's no longer a problem. However, you can very easily draw all seven that turn one, and grab a Solemn which would protect your board.
New cards are cool, but unfortunately the deck is still bad because it requires the right format to be playable, which is not now. The extra deck is being thrown away for generic main deck boss monsters, so the new Polari is not effective.
I'll add that running the second field and spell card are a non issue due to Polar Star and Quint Charge, that let's you special summon the fusion ignoring the summoning conditions.
Wow, an archetype I’ve never heard of
I love the bear robot theme, wish it got some more support.
I hate how much I love this archetype. Its been my master duel go to
Hope you will cover the Dream Mirror archetype sometime soon.
Ahh the arcitype that deserves Usartic drytron
Still hoping for an analysis of the decks that won the tournaments where they had the lowest representation. The ultimate meta killers, so to speak. Could also include your opinion on whether the meta busting showed that said decks were sufficiently supported in their contemporary metas.
10 cards that helped redefine the game on their release. Cards that may not have been super strong or game breaking on their release, but have left a lasting impact on the game.
Only know of their existence because of the Master Duel challenge. And it was one of the most miserable experiences I've ever had with Yu-Gi-Oh
This feels less like a failed archetype and more that it’s more incomplete still, I thought this was something that came out in like 2011 but hearing it came in 2021 gives me hope that it could go hard
Yea like their should be 14 monsters and 7 synchros the fusion doesn’t count
I would love to see a video that talks about ogdoadic. While nowhere near as bad as ursartic it would be great to see you talk about the archetype and its synergy with the other reptile decks along with the fact that ogdoadics main flaw is that there’s no good extra deck reptiles except the aliens. Plus any excuse to see you talk about reptiles as a whole would be great.
To be honest, i know that this archetype isn't that good...
When i get one of those card in a booster, i was like:
"Uh! Looks like an archetype that i could use for the joke. I never heard of it, so it must be not that good"
But i tried its and i love it! (Yeah, i have weird taste, i know)
I'm a casual player, so being competitive isn't my goal... not at all.
It's the first deck that i have real FUN by playing it.
And it's something that not always happend when i play yu gi oh, especially on master duel.
(For some personnal reason)
I'm happy to have found a deck that was for me.
In my opinion, the "magical side" of yu gi oh is that:
You have so much possibilities with all the archetypes and card that there is, for sure, a deck made for you somewhere.
Thank you @TheDuelLogs for this video
It was very interesting, i learn new things about this archetype and that gave me some ideas to upgrade my deck
Thank you again and have a good day
I remember looking over Ursarctic's on release and thought. If people can't take my War Rocks serious; Why would I take this serious?
If it's any consolation, as an Ursarctic Player, I liked War Rocks when they released. Even tried a hybrid with Amonesses to see if they paired well.
DuelLogs making a video of ursartics right as I'm making them, damn the timing
I don't know if you have a video about Generaiders, if not please i would love to see it.
A video on rank up magic/ CXyz monsters? They look cool as boss monsters but a lot of them focus on battle and the newer CXyz like Nasch Knight and C62 can be brought out without a rank up spell.

ursarctic actually wreaking havoc in duel links
it sounds like it's saying "I'm good but I'd have to shoot my foot to be good"
I'm pretty sure the polari place the field spell an not set it so it can't be ashed an it was "considered" a meta deck in duel links just because of the bonds skill an the crazy draw 7 did ursarctic make it to tier 3 no it go powercrept by even more broken skills at that time but it did get tops
will this support be added to MD? I have a deck made, but I never play it due to it's inconsistency
the ursartic hare somewhat good on duel links, i rememeber not too long ago they made to the chanmpionships on dl
Edit: holy shit its a water monster you can't get it off cyber emergency. ignore all of this, card sucks
I think I'll at least try out the ursatron alpha in drytron when it comes to master duel, it seems like a half-decent extender to grab off cyber emergency. Notably, it also has the potential to actually make meteor shower playable
it only search drytron and ursartic spells and traps.

They're good......... if you let them cook.
I knew it was inevitable seeing this archetype in this hall of fame but as an Ursarctic main, it still does hurt to see.
I do agree with everything Logs has said. The archetype has no protection. Its form of interaction isn't really intuitive enough except for Megatanus because the level 8s not only need to have hit the field, they also needed an Ursarctic monster to already be on the board. You go -5 to end on 1 monster that's a floodgate with no inherent protection (Septentrion, pre-Radiation) and even with Radiation, the deck still bricks to Dark Hole.
That being said though, if you really want to play Ursarctics, you can splash in the Adventure package since you don't really have a Normal Summon. You can also use PUNKs, my favorite variant, to give them access to an easy Baronne or Chengying, or the new Horus cards to give them some form of counter when they start wiping your cards.
Springans having rota plus foolish plus teraforming if u dont have the field spell, a field spell that cheats out xyz Monsters matériels that attaché themselves for anywhere, a Monster that place itself on any springans xyz that Can search any Care in the deck( and therion cards too) and has interruptions, a Quick play spell rota plus soulcharge that recycles it self , and not seeing any plays

Honestly I wouldn’t have such a problem if they had made Ultimate Bright Knight Ursatron Alpha a Lv.8 Tuner like a big bear instead of a Lv.7 non-Tuner. That way you could at least at go card neutral if played with Mikpolar/Miktanus.
The only practical thing I can think of to help the deck is some well-tuned Pendulum scales of 6-9 so you don’t have to pay costs to summon the bears out, they’d still get their effects because they were Special’d, and you can search both the scales off Departure.
Gotta love how Konami still feel it necessary to overlap archetypes long after the Hidden Arsenal series was wrapped up, even when it makes no sense whatsoever, like making a Fusion monster made of Ritual and Synchro archetypes and just shoving it into both of them.
This is crazy 😂😂 I just started building this deck in master duel
I stopped playing midway into sycros and all i can tell is that if the cards are not busted from the start, then its useless just because of how fast the game is these days.
Where is the new Support on Master Duel, i really need the "Duelist Nexus" Support
Honestly if Ursarctics didn't lock you from summoning monsters without a level, then Ursarctic Kashtira would be insanely strong.
it's not that Ursarctics are too bad. It's that every other deck is too good.
That could be said for everything bad ever
No, for example Iron Chain is too bad. Even if you dumbed the rest of the game down to it's level, you'd have a bad and stupid game.
Ursarctics are fun, and I think you SHOULD have to use your entire hand to put up a board like theirs. One-card combos are bad design, two-card combos shouldn't have the payoff they do in most decks, it *should* take 3 cards to get out a boss monster on the first turn. @@aidenharris5296
Love this Bears. Cute big bear.
I swear if Ursartics let you reveal an ursartic with a Different name instead of tribute it could be much better
It was very good in duel links a few months ago
This did level 1 Synchros in a different way I thought it could be done. My idea was to do some funky shenanigans like having an XYZ be a Tuner Monster, since they don't have a level you should be able to use it to tune a level 1 into a level 1 synchro.
Xyz and Links don't have levels, so even if they become tuners they can't be used to Synchro summon
@@burner555 Sure they could be, all it would take is a single bit of text saying "This monster can be used in Synchro summoning".
YGO breaks/makes exception to it's own rules all the time. Ursartics is one of the biggest examples of this. If they could make cards that do a clumsy Dark Synchro then they can easily make an XYZ that can be used in Synchro summoning.
@@ShadowEclipex the problem is ranks/ratings=/=levels and there's no Level 0, so anything that converts these would still need to add them up
If I were to make a way to legitimately make a way to Synchro Summon a Level 1 monster, I would give the clause "For this card's Synchro summon, you can subtract the Level of the tuner(s) from those of the non-tuner(s) instead of adding it/them"
@@burner555 I already know that Ranks/Ratings don't count as levels that was the whole point.
And congratulations, you just repeated Ursartics with some different wording.
@@ShadowEclipex ursarctics ask for a direct difference, while this wording is more flexibile with materials
the fact that those synchros cannot be synchro summoned normally which makes this archetype completely locked out of some cool generic tuners that support synchro summoning in other decks makes it even less fun
I play them with the Drytron and the deck is quite fun
Ursarctics are a really fun & cool archetype, held back by its lack of protection & how resource extensive the deck is. It takes the whole hand to combo off in a time where 1 card combos are king. Had Ursarctics come out in the late Synchro era, They might’ve been far better received
Kinda hope people at Konami's Yugioh development team remember to also give this archetype the third big mecha-bear synchro, since only two are out for now (the white and the black one, while the green one is still missing).
Perhaps by then they would have released something to further improve Ursarctics, who knows...
Ursartics being pretty good in DuelLinks literally always throws me off. Whenever I see it, I think to myself “oh bad draw 7, easy W”, so I’m surprised when they pop off (in DuelLinks)
Like many bad duel links archetype, it becomes good bc of a broken skill
I dominate with ursarctics without any skills because I haven't figured out what skill is good for them lol.@@10jonapi
Imagine if this deck could be used like the Horus engine. Every Horus monster can be used as cost for Sarcophagus and doesn't matter cuz you can use it from the graveyard without cost. If Tuners wouldn't require a cost or if Polar could transform the cost into "send the top card of the deck to the graveyard", that would make them better
