    Those paper gaskets are on the rocker boxes too from the factory. Brake clean helps. When I use any metal gasket
    I always use some Permatex part no. 80065. It's a red spray and works well with the metal gaskets. I use it just in case the metal part has some slight imperfections. It's good stuff. Usually not available in box stores.

    One thing that I've seen on not just Evos, but Shovels and Twin Cams is the builder doesn't pay attention to the second compression ring and installs it upside down. They have a slight taper which must be oriented correctly and the function is to scrape oil down the cylinder as the piston travels down. If it's reversed, it scrapes the oil up into the combustion chamber.

    • @scootertrampscotty

    • @everettcalhoun8197
      @everettcalhoun8197 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@scootertrampscotty Some don't have marks for the top. His point is a lot of people assume that you have two compression rings and a 3 piece oil ring. That's not the case you have an oil control ring which is the 3 piece ring and the second ring is the oil scraper ring. The only ring that is a compression ring is the top ring. The 3 piece oil control rings are not high tension. They just want to leave a thin film of oil on the cylinder wall for the second ring to remove. There's my two cents. Good luck and later.

    “If it ain’t broke why ‘fix’ it”…….until it actually needs to be.
    I’ve also never understood the mentality, which seems to me to be largely a generational thing, of what constitutes a high mileage and why that should be a problem, even though an engine is running fine! 🤷‍♂️
    So many times I’ve heard people say, ‘ooh that’s got some miles on it’ , at 30, 40 thousand. No it hasn’t.
    If you’ve abused it and never even changed the oil, it’s going to be trouble.
    Look after the basics.
    I’m waffling on now, but years and years ago I had a ‘77 Goldwing with, around 90,000 on it even then.
    It developed a silly gear change fault involving a simple spring in the end but which unbelievably was an engine out job. I gave it to my local guy to do and told him whilst it was out, he may as well split it and have a good look. Makes sense to put things right.
    There was nothing wrong with it. Everything spotless and within tolerance.
    Well, that’s Honda for you I guess, but it proves a point.
    It was a simple fix in the end and that engine would go on and on.
    High mileage my arse 😄

      The one exception to that rule is the Evo lifters. Change them before that break. Or those twin cam shoes. I don't put in enough miles to do much work on bike now. Have u done this on evo base gaskets?

    • @syyenergy7
      @syyenergy7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@scootertrampscotty Those gaskets are like a petrified rock. They take hours. The razor , WD40 and brake clean is the only way for a DIY person. You know what you're doing. You can trust your own work, when you take your time, more than most expert builders. They aren't going to take as much time as you would, because they are profit orientated. I'd rather do my own work even it takes ten times longer than it's supposed to.

    Awesome vid Scotty. Writing down some notes incase ya vids get pulled again. I encourage ya fans to head over O& R. Drop these pricks, they're slamming all free speech channels as the no balls lists ramp up the game.
    My 1200 anniversary is handling the full dresser lifestyle so far Scotty. Got 55 on the clock, so aways to go before a top end l hope. Would appreciate if you could let me know of a path to getting an autographed copy of Josies Journal. All the best from little Utah Alexandra New Zealand. 🇳🇿 Stay free!

      Also, 90% of the people absolutly refuse free speech. This is suicide. The people are the real problem!

      Depends how much u wanna spend, if the top end actually needs it, and if the bikes worth all that money. This job cost me $305 and woulda been $200 if i hadnt replaced the studs. Shop top end rebuild? $3000.

    Scotty, great content in this and actually all your videos. Can't imagine why You Tube (Google) would want to remove your channel. I'm wondering if it could be because of your use of profanity?

    • @scootertrampscotty
      @scootertrampscotty  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nope. In 1983 we had 40 independent news stations. Now 6 globalist billionaires own all the mainstream worldwide. To offer news on that you have to work for them. Thats right, all the Tuckers, Russell, Alex, and especually Rogans, etc work directly for "them". If u look up Controlled Opposition on free speech channels youll learn all about this. So, if u tell actually important truths or solutions on mainstrean (which i did) theyll take your ass down.

    • @scootertrampscotty

      Theyre counting on the hard fact that Americans will absolutely refuse free speech, the First Amendment, which they do. If all knew the truth wed have beaten this thing already.
