  • How to sit during the meditation? Here I am introducing you to several meditation poses and talk about how you can sit and enjoy your meditation even with injured or stiff legs, hips and back.
    I will explain how I introduce people to sit in the Easy Pose on the first class and when your body, legs, back is more supple how you could even try out other meditation poses. Like the Half Lotus Pose, Full Lotus Pose and the Perfect Pose.
    If you can`t sit in the meditation pose with bended legs then for you I have some other options.

    Thank you. My knees hurt before, because I tried to sit exactly, as you showed as bad example, how to not sit. Now I feel much more comfortable and can concentrate on meditation better.

    Thank you soo much! I was frustrated that I can’t do a full lotus and thought that was the only way. I chose my pose in under 4 min. I will work my way towards full lotus :).

      Never force your legs into full lotus if they are not ready! You may hurt your knees and knees are super important for a yogi :- ) start slow and easy and one day it is possible.

    Been sitting on the floor for years, and still a bit stiff in the hips. My yoga block was just starting to feel....too hard under the hips. Ordered a zabuton and zafu for support, and those didn't work for me at all!
    Your suggestion of a rolled up blanket works perfectly.

    Thank you this helped so much I jeee thought about the little tweaks Iv really took my meditation to a personal new level with this, for me just using something under my bum and pullling me leg in tight first and then pulling the other foot into the gap like she showed i feel like I could sit here for hours ha peace every one

    Got some tips how to become more flexible, stretch poses maybe, my knees and hips are stiff...? Even easiest sitting pose was hard for me, i usually sit cross legged on cushion... but i want to try this lotus easy pose just need a little more flex. Thanks for the video.

      If it is difficulte to sit in the meditation pose then a chair would be the next choice. Because this video does not say that if you can`t sit in the meditation pose then you can`t meditate. Chair is totally fine and as long as you can keep your back as upright as possible then you can still have a good meditation. I would reccomend to just to test and try different sitting positions and see whats works for you best!

      They are called "Futon Yoga Mat" and can be in any colour, I have bought them from here in Denmark: www.yoga.dk/butik/yogamadras-futon/
      If you live far from Denmark then google on Thick Cotton Yoga Mat or like I wrote above and see if you find anything similar close where you live. Kindly, Vigyana

    Hello! Wonderful video! Do you know what is the name in sanskrit of the first meditation pose you showed? I thought the first one was called sukhasana but when I search it it shows the classic "cross-legged" position. I saw theu call it "Burmese pose" but I don't know if it has a sanskrit name.

      You are right, the first pose is called Sukhasana, in English Easy pose. This pose has many names, all depends who is teaching you. Some call it Tailor pose, Crossed legged position (which I have never understood why because they are not comfortable for the meditation). Easiest way to sit here is to have a cushion under your buttocks and have your feet front of each other. You lean slightly forward on the cushion and if the knees do not come down the floor you place some blankets under to support your legs. / Vigyana
