Stop blaming things on the past, you told the people you could handle this problem and clean up this mess. Now she see it’s not easy to do it. Get on Newsom to get you some help and get a new police chief now. People getting robbed just waiting in their car at a red light, they’re following them home..
How long before those kiosks get trashed?

It’s becoming a failed city in a down cycle where the shoppers are leaving because of crime which means less taxes for the city which has less to spend on police which means more crime without repercussions .

I wish Bishop Bob Jackson would run for Mayor. He actually cares about Oakland and speaks the truth. I'm tired of the Mayor talking about "reviving" downtown when Oakland has streets with rampant crime, chop shops, gun violence and garbage everywhere. You're not going to "revive" anything if the entire community is locked in their houses afraid to go outside. It's like the Mayor and DA are just out to lunch with no common sense.

If he doesn't, he will just be doing the same thing as Sheng Thao playing the blame game. Police also won't do anything because they have been demonized to the point that they are just sitting back and letting the criminals get away with anything. Why risk police payouts for "alleged excessive force" and facing prison time trying to uphold the law and doing the right thing?

I liked everything that Bishop Bob Jackson said except the one about the big shoutout to the Governor. Does he not realize that california is in the worst shape because of this governor and his crazy woke ideology. What is the big deal in sending CHP to Oakland after making it the worst city in the country if not the worst place on the whole planet. I am 41 years old. Crime in Oakland is nowhere near the highest it has ever been- tho what is unprecedented in todays times- right here in Oakland is the attacks on every singles citizens humsn rights.

Let's put our tax money towards little kiosk that will target visitors aka soon to be victims. That makes perfect sense. The city needs to rotate officers and literally have them sit in hot spots to patrol just like they do in war zones because that's what this city has become.
Interesting first visit to Oakland by six neighboring professionals for an evening meal. They returned to a no-window, ransacked and destroyed vehicle with shit on the seats.

What wasn't talked about in this discussion. The police commission which has tied the hands and continues to do so with new procedures and policies. They can't do much but watch crime...the new kiosks won't last long. No tourists are coming to Oakland. Seriously no one will come in from Walnut Creek.. this station needs to investigate who is making a crime plan for Oakland. They will all pass the buck to Police Commission.
