Yes, it is such a beautiful home/Mall/hotel resort but one thing I am wondering is about the privacy if however, when night falls, and when lights are on, it would make it so easy to see into the home and into one another’s bedrooms unless they have seeds, I didn’t pay attention and see if they have that😊
The reason for all the lavish bedrooms, office space and kitchens is because it wasnt really just a house. But rather an extension of the company itself. Robert Plaster was known for holding rather lavish corporate retreats and events there. Even allowed some of his most trusted employees to work out of there as a sort of vacation. The colors of the place are totally insane and were intended to match the logos of Empire Gas, his business he built from the ground up. The reason for the property's downfall was his failed attempt to turn the grounds into an incorporated community which was against state law, and his death. You guys are very lucky to get to see the inside I have always wondered myself what it looked like. Thanks for the video.
This is a cool video to watch because my dad also built a mansion in the late 80's / early 90's with literally ALL the design cues and themes that are seen in this video (marble, brass, mirrors, white leather, white carpet, statues everywhere, crystal display cases, glass planed light fixtures, everything angular and pointy) but I'm pretty sure he couldn't have spent more than $2m in 90's money on it. So touring this house is like touring my dad's house with everything blown 40 times out of proportion.
If I had the backing I'd buy it for 75,000000 and turn it into a secluded get away for the wealthy. I should get a return in 2 years. I'd just change the phones and Tvs. Hire 8 around the clock employees. Most of the income will go to electric, maintenance, and 2 good chefs to custom cook for the customers.
Why does he keep saying "from the 90's"? I wouldn't be able to tell what era the couches, and everything else is from. What difference does it make? It's all very over the top opulence.
If I was rich I would buy this incredible home just because. The views are gorgeous! 90' vibe, I'd keep it that way at I was in my 20's then, so nostalgic! Thank you for sharing this and respecting this Marvel of a home.

How funny. I worked for Bob Plaster in the early 1980’s in Lebanon, Missouri. Empire Gas was the name of his Company. There were rumors about him in town that made him out to be an undesirable man. I met him at the Company Christmas parties and he was always kind to me. Strange that I stumbled across this video - a blast from the past.
It's crazy how much things have changed from the 90s to now and how many thoughts I've had in the last 20 years so you think about when people were walking through this or these people who own this what they were thinking with all that money and that style at that time
this is exactly the words i was looking for that i couldn’t think of. something about it makes me love it as a house though. i think part of it is because i love abandoned malls.
A time capsule intended for the future that he destroyed with his short life of excess. Stupid corporate 'green' capsule; everything he owns belongs to the people of the future. This was his idea of going 'green'.
My wife and I were vacationing in Branson and rented a boat for the day. We saw this building from the lake and wondered what it was doing out in the middle of nowhere. Thought it was an office building. Thanks for showing this. Now we know. Ram
Exactly what I was thinking. Even though it’s privately owned, I wouldn’t consider this a home or “mansion”. It was clearly styled and designed as an entertainment location for his clients rather than something you live in daily.

I framed houses in the Atlanta area for over 20 years. I helped build some of the largest, most insane and expensive custom homes you'd ever imagine. Many had elevators, some had a pool or tennis court under the house. One house had a bridge to the front door, another had a stone FP in the MBR you could see through to the MB and one had a 10+ person jacuzzi in the basement with a waterfall flowing into it. I could go on and on about all the really awesome homes I've had a hand in building but none come close to this place. I understand from other comments this wasn't built as a residence but as a corporate property. I don't care, it's absolutely awesome. If I owned it I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for sharing such a unique and wonderful place, I really enjoyed watching.
I love the house too, especially the seclusion away from everybody is like you are living in your own paradise, who won't want that? I will only change a few of the decor, but the house itself is livable and beautiful.
I'm actually in the Atlanta area been here 20 plus years and I'm interested in hearing more of your stories. let me know would love to reach out to you ok Facebook and Instagram. I'm in the same profession
Seca and cameras all over the place though. If it was a normal unmonitered abandoned site, most New Wave Urbex smashcrews would been busting up crap like there's no tomorrow. All conveiently off camera, of course!
Loving the green marble but when I saw the thumbnail (found video randomly) I thought, okay, cool, another historic relic of some company's office HQ in a scenic spot that probably became abandoned as the company changed, failed, or went WFH. In reality, wow, was shocked to learn that this is a home! Like other comments yeah, uncanny valley of corporate office building / mall, and home but not *too* insanely tacky IMO as far as kitsch goes I think. Obviously feels more like a corporate retreat or a place that was equal parts home and business office. Interesting design for sure. thanks for touring and being respectful of the property.
The decor is like something my grandparents would have picked out but dialed up to the ten millionth power. I feel like I can smell this house through the video.
That place definitely has the appearance of a mall when you enter the building. As you walk through sections of the building, it makes you think, is it a home, a mall, a office building, or all of the above. That place is gorgeous. So clean too.
More new malls were built in 1990 than any other year in history so it makes sense the language made it into other buildings, every architect and their brother was designing malls in 1990.
Those Evergreen Logos are fugly. What a huge waste of good money. Nothing like using your money to help others. Somebody hurt his little feelings, so he had to overspend and create this monstrosity. Pitiful. Money does not make the man after all.
When I watch these AMAZING videos, I can't help but wonder... the laughter, and the joy that happened in the house. The sadness and stress, worries and accomplishments, and then one day, one day... something happened and the house is abandoned and left completely at a standstill in time!!! It is such a crazy and deep feeling to think...
Was Robert W. Plasters house. He started a gas company in 1963 called Empire Gas, (was listed on the NYSE - he sold it in 1996). He then founded Evergreen Investments LLC, which invests in numerous enterprises. A great man, with a fantastic work ethic, he died in 2008. Brilliant video, so nice to get a look around, thank you!
@@RichieWilliams97 He never went on trial for murder, nor was anybody killed. He and others were accused of a bomb plot to blow up a truck belonging to a competitor.
My dream house is actually a one room primitive cabin, with a stone fireplace, a rocking chair, my beautiful wife of 27 years, a faithfull dog, a hunting rifle over the mantle, fishing poles on a rack, a fishing canoe outside on 250 acres of wilderness far from civilization and near a pristine lake.
I know it looks cold and inhospitable to a lot of people but I've always had a thing (especially when I was a kid) for '80s/'90s glass corporate buildings, with their clean sharp lines, glossy surfaces, and minimalist style. Maybe it's partly the nostalgia speaking, but I'd love to stay here.
I'm with you. I love the period use of stark color contrast like the pink and green. The sharp architecture does it for me too. Everything is tacky at some point before nostalgia makes it cool again. Remember Art Deco went by the wayside too even though in hindsight it is utterly beautiful and the craftsmanship admirable. I like the 80's style for it's simplicity and seemingly undisturbedness.
It reminds me a lot of “home alone” movies style, if u know what I mean, not just the style but the VIBE and feel, I was born in ‘89, so I was pretty much a baby when that happened but the memories and feelings are fresh !!! Like sea waves 🌊 come to my mind, it was just TOO cozy everything back then right ? Even if it was mall or office style, you just felt cozy, like raining outside or something at 7pm, I don’t know how to explain, with some of those “aesthetic”’ songs from the early 90’s in the background, or Enya “sail away”, it might not look as minimal as today’s standards but today’s architecture isn’t as cozy as the 80’s early 90’s was........ you could just lay down anywhere and watch tv, it was PURRFECT, cause it wasn’t the 70’s kinda boring but also not the 2000’s yet, so perfect and minimalistic it lacks comfort and family vibe....... i might have been 6 years as much but I remember it very nicely Kinda like this th-cam.com/video/xYQrPsyu-1s/w-d-xo.html

Great place to take a break, maybe wake up early- not to late, catch the sunrise when dawn breaks and feel the warmth as it propagates. lmao.. But seriously though
it's such pure early 90's I feel it needs to be preserved, basically everything like this has been renovated away at this point, it's a rare cross section of quality building unlike today, combined with a complete lack of beauty and cohesiveness that you see in older homes, or offices.
They sure don’t build like this anymore! Great place for weekly or even monthly business retreats as well as family retreats! Love this timeless place ❤ Thank you for sharing . I hope whoever buys it maintains it like this ! Wow ! Thanks for sharing
Despite the building’s design style / furnishings being dated, the impeccable level of maintenance and overall condition of the “finishes” are almost unbelievable for its age. 👍🏻
Yep. Very dated and tacky. However I agree. The condition is actually great for 30 year old furniture. And it wouldn't do it justice to upgrade and get rid of it. Plus it would be way too expensive to redo the entire house. The furniture was made to match it. It should stay perfectly preserved.
I founded Naturay Skylights Company in Kansas City in 1978 and landed the skylight contract for this job in late 1989. We finished it in April of 1991. Dennis Spencer (Springfield, MO) was the architect. The largest octagonal skylight is 40' across flat-to-flat and sits over the four-floors tall atrium. The porteco skylight is 36' across. The glass is all high-performance reflective just like the curtainwall envelope. The green marble interior was imported from Italy. I was strictly prohibited from taking photos (Plaster didn't want it advertised) but that didn't necessarily stop me.

My thoughts exactly. This screams 80s not 90s. Looks like an office building turned into a home. Aside from replacing all the outdated tech and appliances and updating basically everything, a reno would need to completely gut the interior because that green marble and gold trim is never coming back. it doesn't double as a panic room. in a house that big nothing doubles as anything. the door is bullet proof because its a SHOOTING RANGE. its a safety feature
The viewpoint of the camera guy was immature on many points. He’s just not familiar with building/architectural design and the reasons for it, I have to assume.
This whole place is a time capsule for an era that's no more. Everything is this place is right out of an early 90's blockbuster movie and I love all of it!
I really adore this place! But I can see how it's not a home and more of an amazingly fancy office lol. But it could easily be made into a home because it's so absolutely stunning! Thank you again. Wow. Abandoned buildings and spaces is something I have loved to read, and research about, for years. When I was in my 20s I kinda tried my own urbex in my home city, but it became dangerous, my country has high crime. I agree with most of the comments. This house definitely has a mall or hotel feeling to it but if it will ever be filled with personal stuffs and noise from people who would live there it will definitely feel more homey and warm. I love the combination of pink, green, white and gold. every part of the house is definitely amazing. It also has a welcoming feeling.

the 90s furniture isn't my fan because i am currently looking for a new home and in my area most of the 3 to 5 thousand sq ft homes were decorated in the 90s, and I prefer a modern style.
I'm trying, but I just can't imagine anyone living there. It's a corporate museum and spa in one. It's odd that it's built on a beautiful lake and they did everything that they could to insulate it from nature, The materials are definitely expensive and the statues are worthy of being in a museum as well. Sorry, it's not jealously, it just boggles my mind that so much was spent in such an overblown way when the real beauty is right outside the buildings.

Some people see these places and get angry. They immediately look for things to hate about it. I see it and get inspired. It's testament to what people are capable of. Not only building it, but being able to afford it. Most of the people who live in these are the creators of things that make your lives easier. I admire them. I don't envy them or think they don't deserve it. If you do, ask yourself what you've done to earn that kind of life... probably nothing. So quit being greedy. Since I saw this mansion 3 years ago and I always think about it, something strange and attractive about it. I loved watching this video a lot.
Yessss indeed! Don’t change a damn thing.
I love the house too, especially the seclusion away from everybody is like you are living in your own paradise, who won't want that? I will only change a few of the decor, but the house itself is livable and beautiful.
While i love it too , i would change some of the Colors and Furniture.

Yep. Very dated and tacky. However I agree. The condition is actually great for 30 year old furniture. And it wouldn't do it justice to upgrade and get rid of it. Plus it would be way too expensive to redo the entire house. The furniture was made to match it. It should stay perfectly preserved.

Wow thank you so much for showing us. My opinions or thoughts aside, about the style and vibe of the actual house.. But the journey with you and showing us so much detail, is just brilliant.
Thank you again. Wow. Abandoned buildings and spaces is something I have loved to read, and research about, for years. When I was in my 20s I kinda tried my own urbex in my home city, but it became dangerous, my country has high crime. Anyways, I now read about, and watch a ton of yt vids featuring urbex and abandoned areas.. And this truly is one of the most mind boggling houses I have ever seen, must have been incredible to visit.
I remember seeing this as a kid when we went to table rock as a family (live in Kansas City) for vacation. Never knew what it was for but remember always wanting to go see it. And wondered what it looked like inside. That’s amazing. 20+ years later I finally get the chance
Me too
Dreams really do come true 🤗
Live 30 min from kc & never even heard of it!
Concordo totalmente contigo em tudo quê foi dito. 👍😘🙋♂️👋
Nope. . . Just nope. . .
At first I didn’t think I was going to like it, the outside literally looks like an office building. But the inside is amazing! I didn’t think I’d be a fan of 90’s furniture but I absolutely love it! I hope whoever buys it keeps all the original furniture inside.
It creeps me out
the 90s furniture isn't my fan because i am currently looking for a new home and in my area most of the 3 to 5 thousand sq ft homes were decorated in the 90s, and I prefer a modern style.
This isn’t the 90s, that is just BAD taste.
Ich dachte es war ein Hotel. Aber die Inneneinrichtung ist der Hammer. Ich fand es aussergewöhnlich. Etwas wirklich besonderes.
I can see this working as a boutique hotel/destination wedding venue
I'm trying, but I just can't imagine anyone living there. It's a corporate museum and spa in one. It's odd that it's built on a beautiful lake and they did everything that they could to insulate it from nature, The materials are definitely expensive and the statues are worthy of being in a museum as well. Sorry, it's not jealously, it just boggles my mind that so much was spent in such an overblown way when the real beauty is right outside the buildings.
A big fat log cabin would look proper where its sitting instead
THE TRUEST COMMENT 💚

100% agree..it’s as if they put beds in an ugly, cold office building and didn’t consider the surroundings at all.
Well, at least with all those windows, you get a good view of what's important. LOL
When i see things like this, i realize that those with huge sums of money are not the least bit happier than us regular folks.
What would make you say that? He said nothing about thr owner
Well from what i read he had a nice wife and a lovely family full of grandchildren. Too bad they had this guy do the tour. Totally clueless
Whatever possessed this guy to waste all of this money on this place is beyond me. I am glad I don't understand it
@@andrewgarcia3136 Funny, privacy didn't mean anything to the owners. No drapes, blinds, etc.
The house would be a fun place for children but not a safe place for them. Too many places where they could fall to their deaths; adults too 😳.
Would like to have the elephants and the house on a much smaller scale.
@@andrewgarcia3136 probably had more money then sense
So much light goes in through the glass. So bright.I love it
Thank you so much for going through getting permission to film this and taking the time to edit it beautifully Thank you for one incredible experience, I would have never had without your time and talent.
Well said!
This has to be my favorite I've seen so far. It just amazes me how some people can have more money than they could ever possibly spend and buy anything they ever wanted and some weeks I'm waiting a couple days to eat until I get paid. Some people sleep outside. Its an absolutely stunning place, I can only dream of being in a place like this
Same. I spent most of my money on booze and strippers. The rest of my money was spent on useless things.
You could be in a place like this, squatters have rights 🙂
@@Danny451 😂😂
@@istandwithgod2011 im not a squatter. Cancer bills take most of my money and I have a good paying job..sad that with what I have to live paycheck to paycheck
@@sarahlundgren3358 im sorry to hear that about your situation. May God bless you with swift recovery, good health & may He ease your difficulties and grant you success both in this world and the Hereafter.
It sure doesn’t give me that warm and cozy feeling. Can’t say I like it.
I absolutely agree with you! It's not homey at all!
Generally the bigger they get the less homely they feel. I would definitely not want to live there.
It's vacant.. Put some flower pots in there, light the fireplace, put memoires and collections in there, change the white furniture to dark grey and boom. It's homey.
Oh yeah, and definitely put some rugs in there, the floor seems bland and empty.
Ugly
@ I agree. It’s a little out dated but I’m sure who ever is shopping in this price range can afford to hire a couple designers & remodel.
You didn't earn shit and you're not entitled to bring them down to your level.
When I was a kid, we used to take our boat all the way up the lake just to oogle this place. It always reminded me of a rich cartoon villains lair. We called it “Evergreen”
Anyone that rich/connected is usually a villain 🤷♀️
Idiot
I grew up on table rock. Seen them building this when we first moved to the area. They finished it shortly after. This is the first I’ve ever seen anything about it other than view from the water and loads of rumors. Absolutely amazing. Wish I had the funds I’d rock this place in a heart beat! There’s loads of 90’s themed movies going to be made soon and this would be the perfect set with everything ready to go in it!
What kind of rumors? Do tell
@@purpleprose1315 well keep in mind we moved here when I was 7, so from what I remember it was a drug lords place, a black site for the cia since we could never find an easy road to it, headquarters for some law office from St. Louis, a second remote playboy mansion, etc. all crazy and outlandish but those were all some of the stories we heard from locals. Before youtube and real internet so unless you knows someone you didn’t have details. And who doesn’t like making tall tales while sipping drinks on the lake lol
It could definitely be a place to do such things. Considering how inaccessible the location is. Only for the rich and powerful.
Maybe I’m biased but I LOVE this place, I love the whole 80s/early 90s era, I get what some people are saying but this was a live in office building so that’s why it looks like this . I wouldn’t live here necessarily but it would be a source of MAJOR inspiration.
They need to turn it into a hotel/resort/spa.
"4 we're.

I luuuv the warmth it & the soft lights.
Thank you for this I've lived here my whole life and always wanted to see inside.. Mr Steve Plaster your dad did an amazing job at the design.
I enjoyed the video again thanks
impressive, but let's be honest: it simply looks like an office complex
