I'm planning on getting the 2025 I Pad Pro 13" 2 tb Wi-Fi & cellular version . I want to have the best quality in sound & picture to watch my films , tv shows on Disney Plus, Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV, youtube. I won't want a 60Hz screen refresh rate at all. I have the I phone 13 Pro Max . I am in the UK
iPad Pro 11 512 gb is my sweet spot for quality and practically. I use my old 10.5 pro for reading and holidays as it’s not worth anything. It is still great (thin and fantastic speakers) but no Apple Intelligence and the OS has reached its limit. My wife wants that to replace her ageing but much loved Air2. My M1 2Tb 11 in is brilliant but lacks the superb new pro screen and pencil pro features. However, having blown £hundreds on the Magic Keyboard and Pencil 2, I may just get the M4 or M5 iPad Pro as a consumption device and keep the M1 as a workhorse. I tried the new mini in the shop then took mine back unopened. I got it at launch day but the jelly scrolling, motion blur, over large bezels and too small fonts on newspapers, all went against it. It’s also not bright enough in sunlight. A mini pro would definitely be my choice, if it were made, but I guess the size negates the battery needed and the unit may overheat being very small. I did notice lots of mini 6s showed heat damage in the Apple store last year so I’d be interested to see if the 7 is any better.
I went to the shop to buy an iPad Air. I did not have any intention whatsoever to buy an iPad Pro because it’s crazy expensive and I don’t have any use for it except watching media… until I saw them side-by-side and was shocked by the display of the pro. It is so amazing that it made me spend double as much as I intended. Another consideration is that Nothing will challenge it’s processor or top it’s display for many years to come so unless I lose it, I will probably not have to buy another one for at least five years.
Great decision, we're at peak ipad at the moment. It's gonna last you at least 5 years before you think you'll need an upgrade. You'll have to go to Apple & get a new battery other than that you're sitting pretty bro.
I have an iPad Pro from 2017 and quite honestly your comment has swayed me to go for the new Pro. In the end I’ve had this current iPad Pro for eight years and it is only now that it has started to become a tad unresponsive
Great summary of what’s out there. I’m very happy with my 10th Gen iPad. It’s perfect for sitting at the kitchen table and watching TH-cam, responding to emails, or even paying bills. I don’t need Apple Intelligence on my iPad (I’ll use my phone or MacBook Air if I need that). Get an iPad 10 if you need an iPad.
I'm a pilot and have a mini, which I am going to replace with the pro. I don't mount it on the control yoke, but rather on the side window. I appreciate the larger screen and more functionality. This is a good buying guide, as all your content is well done.
Good news Mark, I have been subscribed for some time. And I do keep mine for three years at a minimum. With my recent upgrade to the 11 inch M4 iPad Pro I am good until at least 2029 or 2030.
I upgraded from the 2019 5th Gen iPad Mini to the 7th Gen on its release day. Including the trade-in, it actually cost me slightly less than its predecessor. It’s the size that works for me - anything bigger would spend its life in a drawer - and really complements my Product Red iPhone 13 Mini. Thanks, as always for the content. Happy New Year!
I bought the 12.9" M1 iPad Pro in May 2021, so it's 3.5 years old. It's still running like a champ. It performs superbly. Its battery life has hardly diminished. The screen is beautiful. And Apple is fully supporting it (or at least I'm finding all the features in which I'm interested). I like to draw with the Apple Pencil, so the large screen is great for me. If I were in the market today, I'd probably eye the 13" iPad Air with the Apple Pencil Pro. But with my iPad running so well, do I need to consider a replacement now? My wife says "Probably not!"
I got the Air3 in 2018, still rocking it, still works very well. Maybe the battery isn't the best but still gets me thru a day at uni. I’m thinking about buying a new one this upcoming year, so thank you for this video Mark!!
I recently got rid of the Paperlike Screen protectors on my iPads because I didn’t like how they messed with the screen clarity. I also just ordered an M2 13” iPad Air to go with my 12.9/13” M1 iPad Pro. And I’m thinking of upgrading my iPad Mini 6 to the 7 so I can have Apple’s Intellegence on my most portable device. Those writing tools are a game-changer for me!
At 73 I can’t help but laugh at how things have changed ! I am pretty sure what I have will do me until I kick the bucket but it’s like a kid in a toy shop ! I haven’t grown out of that mind set of having the best ! 😂
I just bought a new iPad Air this week as a late xmas prezzie to myself, to replace my old 1st gen iPad Air from 2013. I mainly use mine as a multimedia and internet browsing device. It just feels more "comfy" to use than a laptop. Was _extremely_ tempted by that iPad Pro screen but can't justify the price difference.
I been using a 10.5inch iPad Pro as my daily driver. I’m in the market to upgrade. I want to daily drive an iPad but now I know I also need a Mac mini at home.
If my current iPad Mini dies in the next twelve months then I'll replace it with another Mini, but I bought it (a 5th generation) secondhand in January 2021 and it shows no sign of failing yet. Three years doesn't seem particularly long to keep a computer like these, they just continue to work pretty smoothly.
I have the iPad 9th generation. I’ve had it since it first came out and it still serves me well. That being said, I do love hearing about newer iPads. I like to be in the know for when the time comes to eventually replace my 9th gen (which I do not feel a need to) or even buy a secondary iPad to conserve the 9th gen’s battery a bit by having another tablet to lighten the load (if I did do that I’d likely get a Mini for content consumption and such, continuing to use my 9th gen for writing as I prefer having larger screens for digital notetaking). In any case, as a user of a now discontinued model of iPad… I can definitely say these tablets last a while. The iPad 9th gen is still getting the latest iPadOS updates (albeit without the Apple Intelligence features) and it doesn’t feel very slow and sluggish despite the 60 hertz screen. All in all, while I have no need to watch these buying guides currently, I really enjoy these types of videos. I enjoy hearing about new tech and potentially planning ahead should the need arise. Thanks for making such an enjoyable guide.
6:24 Just a heads up you’ve put ‘M4 iPad Air’ where it should read ‘M2’…sorry to be that guy but hope it helps! Love the channel/website/podcast and looking forward to more in 2025 😊
I had the 2021 iPad Pro 12.9. 256 that I loved but felt I had to plug it in all the time and didn’t want to replace the battery. I sold it and bought a used iPad Pro 13 with Apple Folio for $800. The screen is amazing but not sure about spending $800 on an iPad. I then bought an iPad Pro 11 512 with Folio for $650. I also found a brand new iPad 10th gen 256 brand new for $320. So now I have 3 iPads and have to figure out which one to keep. I already have a 15” MacBook so though having an 11” and saving money was the better option.
The M4 iPad Pro‘s display just looks gorgeous, but I wasn’t willing to spend that much. Instead I’ve gotten a refurbished M2 iPad Pro from Apple, which was only a tad bid pricier than the M2 iPad Air - would say it was worth it, though it doesn’t do anything else than the other iPads (for my consumption).
I had a strong bias towards iPad Pro from watching all the reviews saying iPad Air is a better value , iPad OS is still not there, pro motion is good but 1000 is just a waster of money bla bla . I went to Apple Store saw the pro and it just hit me I’m not even poor to worry about the costs(not being a prick, just genuine thought) so just bought a iPad Pro 12.9 with nano Tex display. Influence is a strong tool! Pick what’s right for you because value is subjective and a pragmatic approach is quintessential.
I keep my iPads for probably more like 5 years, until they stop working, which is very rare for me. The complete opposite experience of most Apple Laptops that I’ve had. My M2 Pro is fantastic, my daily driver.
I been using a 10.5inch iPad Pro as my daily driver. I’m in the market to upgrade. 13” Air or Pro. I want to daily drive an iPad but now I know I also need a Mac mini at home.
For people who want to know a bit more information about the future significant iPad-related product and upgrade. Here’s all the rumors and leaks so far. - iPad mini with 8.5-8.7” normal OLED (not Tandem OLED like this year’s iPad Pro) display are coming in 2026. An increase in size from 8.3” in the current model. - iPad Air with OLED display (also normal OLED display) are also coming in 2026 but some leakers suggest that only 11” model is coming in 2026 and 13” in 2027. - iPad Pro just got a redesign this year so it will stay like that for sometimes. Only a spec dump from now on. Maybe Nano-Texture display will become available for all configurations? Who knows. - iPad 11th Gen is coming early 2025 and it might not even support Apple Intelligence. - Last but not least, a 20” foldable ‘iPad Pro’ is coming in 2028. Some say it’s a MacBook but I’ll assumed it’s an iPad for the sake of this comment. Other than those iPad’s. Here’s an additional MacBook rumors for some of you guys that are choosing between an iPad or MacBook. - MacBook Pro with Tandem OLED display are coming 2026 with a total redesign. Thinner, lighter, and no notch. Same philosophy as this year’s iPad Pro. - MacBook Air with normal OLED display are coming 2028. The reason it’s so late to party is because Apple wants to keep the price down. And so far there has been no rumor about a redesign, meaning the massive notch will still be there. Note: Next year iPad Air and possibly iPad 11th will get a new Magic Keyboard. It probably won’t have a metal top part like the one that comes with this year’s iPad Pro but it will definitely have a functions row. I only hopes that Apple just improves the Magic Keyboard Folio. It is hand downs the best iPad Magic Keyboard ever in my humble opinion.
I think the new IPad mini should have included a bit bigger screen (8.5) inch and at least 600 nits of brightness as it wasn’t updated for few years, other than Apple Intelligence doesn’t give you anything else compared to previous edition
I’ve brought the 11 inch M4 iPad Pro on the end of last May! Wonderful iPad, especially coming from a first generation Pro from 2016! The M4 is an oversized processor for iPad OS, but who knows what Apple has in store for the future?
My iPad pro’s usb c port has failed due to supposed corrosion. It is only 2 years old and Apple simply said it must have some water damage (it hasn’t as I take good care of it and no liquid has ever come near it) There was no option to replace the port and was simply told to buy a new one at £1500 a time. I had planned to move exclusively to my iPad but I am no longer going to risk a single port device that is not replaceable if it fails and which doesn’t have wireless charging.
No special reason I bought a Ipad Pro just because I wanted it. It strained my budget but I am happy with it. I did not get the pencil or keyboard and its still amazing to use. I went from a Ipad air 2 to a Ipad Pro with a M4 chip.
Mark, great review, 1st vid of yours, just subscribed! Have you heard of people having eye problems with the 2024 Oled screen? I have had a lot of eye surgeries and they strain easily so I’m concerned about that. Though I only hear it is an amazing Screen!
I sadly had to return my M4 iPad Pro due to the eye strain from the dual OLED. I even decreased white balance. And I have no eye issues generally. I think and hope a single OLED panel will be just fine, as in the current iPhone pro line.
Well that’s discouraging, about no foreseeable plans for the iPad mini…. Except….at the end of the video you say there’ll always be something better around the corner…. Well, which is it? I’m hangin on to my mini 6 for dear life, as the battery is losing charge faster by the day, and it crashes more frequently, but I don’t want to waste money on the 7, since there’s nothing new or better about it that makes it worth it for me to buy. If I knew 2026 would make an 8, I’d be so happy….. any words of encouragement, or is it a lost cause? Thanks for your videos. 👍🏻
The most important thing I say in this video is that you shouldn't wait for whatever comes next - because it might not. If you rely on your mini and the current one is failing on you, get the current version. There may not be another one - who knows!
I’ll be upgrading my IPad 2018 next year. I use it for everything including video editing. Its A10 Fusion chip does struggle a little running LumaFusion now. I could go for the cheapest ipad which I guess is still lightning quick compared to what I’m using now but I’ve got my eyes on the 11” iPad Air. Hopefully that will last 6 years also!
In 2023 I updated my mesh network to an eero Max 7 to compliment my 2Gbps service. Yet in 2024 when I purchased both the 11” and 13” M4 Pro as well as Mini 7, there’s still no WiFi7 in the iPad lineup. The WiFi 7 in the iPhone 16 still does support WiFi7’s MLO. That’s my only wish for 2025.
I didn’t mind buying another Apple Pencil (because I bought the new Mini 7 and my Gen 2 doesn’t work yay) but the Magic Keyboard (which I love on my 11” M2) is a lot more expensive.
If Paperlike improves the functionality of a touch display in terms of writing, and takes nothing away, I wonder why manufacturers of screen devices on which writing can happen don't make the screens with that Paperlike quality.
if i wasn’t such a tech nerd, i would just get and stay with the iPad mini. but no….i have an 11” M4 iPad Pro with the magic keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro…..because..no reason. i did however downgrade my iPhone 16 Pro Max to the iPhone 16 Plus….that blue color is killer. BUT….i may just go back to the boring iPhone 16 Pro Max again because i miss 120hz. 🤦🏻♂️
I do not need Apple Intelligence, I do not want AI in the future, it is only to provide my data to Apple’s Big Data. No thanks. I will stick with my 10th Gen iPad for a few more years.
Mac is capable running majority of iPad apps, if developer don't actively opt-out the option for what ever reason. But iPad can't run Mac app out the box. If people already have apple silicon mac and iPhone, can't se the point at buying iPad Air or iPad Pro. Only the cheapest iPad offer some true value, and iPad mini for very narrow specific crowd. Otherwise the expensive iPad don't have much to offer other then for painter, illustrator and design folks.
Wow! People keep iPads on average for 3-years? I purchased an original generation 12.9" iPad Pro with 256gb in December 2015, and still use it. Now, it is not my primary iPad, which is a maxed out M1 13" iPad Pro, but my original generation iPad Pro is used for MS Office, email & OneNote in my office. It is perfect for note taking, and I will use it until it dies, or MicroSoft stops supporting MS Office or OneNote. Then, my M1 iPad Pro will replace it.
At 9:59, if they work for NASA they won’t be paying out of pocket… Economics 101: they will buy the latest and greatest with taxpayers money, just take a look at the US deficit. Thanks for the video!
You can get 7 years. I have been using a 10.5 inch iPad Pro and I’m just looking to upgrade my machine. The 4gb on my iPad is what is making me want to upgrade.
You'd probably get seven years out of an iPad quite easily, mate. I'm not trying to convince you to buy anything. If you're happy, stick with what you've got.
Which iPad are you buying in 2025... and why?
I bought the iPad Air M2 chip 13 inches in purple. I love it so far!
@@wendy-annlewis2347what made you not go for pro? Was it the price?
Still trying to fund getting a Mac mini. I've only have had my iPad Air 5th gen for a little over a year, so... no iPads this year.
Five years how about eight?
Keeping my 11 inch M1 iPad Pro because it does all the “iPad Stuff” (whatever that means) that I need. Thanks for the video.
I normally don't really subscribe to any channel, but you are so sincere and friendly! I subbed and liked the video
This means a lot - thank you!
Great summary of what’s out there. I’m very happy with my 10th Gen iPad. It’s perfect for sitting at the kitchen table and watching TH-cam, responding to emails, or even paying bills. Great recommendations and my number one recommendation would be the iPad mini. However, I would say whichever one you can afford, get it
Bingo.

Watching this a mini 7 I bought as an upgrade to the mini 4. Loving it and got an Apple Pencil for Christmas which I am learning new stuff with…

I decided on the iPad Air 11 inch 😊
I had the 2021 iPad Pro 12.9. 256 that I loved but felt I had to plug it in all the time and didn’t want to replace the battery. I sold it and bought a used iPad Pro 13 with Apple Folio for $800. If they add a laminated and anti-reflective coating on the base iPad, I would consider it. What I really want with all models is better battery life.

Still using a 9th Gen iPad which does all the iPad stuff I need. Got the M4 Mac mini for everything else.
I bought the iPad Pro m1 12.9 2 years ago and don’t intend upgrading for another 2-3 years at least
I have the Ipad pro 6th gen 12.9 inch for almost a year as a gift and was thinking about downgrading it to the mini because it is so big
The only reason I want to upgrade is to get USB C. My 2 current iPad base models work great, but they are the last lightning cable items I own.

@ thank you for taking time to comment! I’m leaning to the iPad Air at this point
iPad Air the best all rounder
Best advice either cheapest iPad or iPad mini. Save your money for iPad Air or iPad Pro, buying MacBook Air or Mac Mini instead.
The mini needed thinner boarders 😅
im waiting for the M5 iPad Pro
I would like to upgrade my aging iPad pro, but I don’t feel like buying ANOTHER apple pencil and magic keyboard.
I’ve just watched the start of this video, the bit where you say people keep their iPad for 3 years. Mine is a 2017 😂😂😂😂
i heard the iPad Air with M3 chip will get a 90hz refresh rate
if i wasn’t such a tech nerd, i would just get and stay with the iPad mini. but no….i have an 11” M4 iPad Pro with the magic keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro…..because..no reason. i did however downgrade my iPhone 16 Pro Max to the iPhone 16 Plus….that blue color is killer.
What is your main phone these days?
British sarcasm, mate. Thanks for the kind words.
@ LOL!
Just go and buy it :) capitalism is screaming so hard
'People keep their iPad for at least ... 3 years', and that's supposed to convince me to buy? I'd want at least 7 years from a £1500 purchase.
It’s not 2025
You're a sharp one.
Dude, keep your hair on! Oops too late!
That joke left the building at the same time my hair did, mate.
