I wanted the ipad mini, but honestly i left the walled garden after like 15 years.
I grabbed a "cheap" 8 inch cellular tablet (ALLDOCUBE mini 60 pro). I don't need to use an apple pencil personally. But, just for simple media consumption, navigation, music, etc.... popping a cheap unlimited data sim card in a $150 android tablet is honestly amazing.
This is coming from someone who sold their ipad pro and z fold 6.

I no longer use a computer. I went all iPad during the M1. When I need to do something personal, i use my 13 inch. My 11 inch is my note taking device and general consumption when it is work related. I keep that with me all of the time. Then, I have my Mini. My beloved Mini 6 - and, for me, I am very happy with the 2021 version. i do almost everything with it. It has replaced my phone for the most part. i play my card games and look at social on it.

@@ThatMarkGilroy I'm looking forward to it. I'll give ya a sub just to keep up!
I use an iPad, because as an artist, it's basically the go-to device. But I'm trying to find other ways to use it help justify the expense.
And a LOT of times, content creators just gab on and on about the video editings stuff, or they gloss over that some people need an iPad for art and default to the "well just get a macbook!"
Anyways, I appreciate videos like this, because they help inspire me to find more uses from the devices I have. And I appreciate it!

I totally agree with this and enjoy finding the few videos about normal every day usage like this. I do not think I have commented on more than 5 videos in my lifetime. I have to break that streak now. I am an accountant. It is so hard to get to a video that it’s not geared to some kind of creative work. This is exactly what I wanted to finally get to watch and listen to. Something good to the average user. Finally a video sharing down to earth feedbacks on the Mini. Many others are always complaining about the specs or asking for more features. But no one ever understand that iPad Mini is an upscaled iPhone, not a downscaled iPad Air/Pro. With half the price of an iPhone but this performance, you can't complain much. If they put everything you want, the price will go up. And just like your use cases (which I believe is most people use cases), who really need those fancy hardware upgrades on a Mini. I mean they are good to have but not necessarily for a Mini. Thanks for sharing.

    • @ThatMarkGilroy

They’re the exact same screen (brightness/refresh) so it’s purely down to which size you like. Mini is the same size as an A5 notebook, so if you’d feel comfortable sketching in one of those, go for the Mini and use the saving to buy the new Pencil Pro. Don’t forget in most digital art apps you can pinch to zoom for fine detail work.

Since I had gift vouchers and a trade in, I only had to pay £29.00 for the new one. Decided to spend £100 more for double the storage.
Use it read the papers, check on my shopping, respond to emails. Oh and play music either from my headphones or connected to my TV soundbar. Forgot about the soundbar trick.
I also forgot it connects seamlessly to the Magic Keyboard and Mouse. So whilst other you tubers may complain it does not have oled or an M chip, they may forget that said chip may cause heating issues in a smaller tablet. The A17 pro chip may be a better choice for the mini as it is in a larger body than the 15 pro, which suffered from heating issues. I always said if I bought the mini 6 at 64 gig, or bought one at 256 gig from Apple Refurbished, it would be one day before the mini 7 was released. I had been getting gifts vouchers putting them on my Apple Balance. When the 7 came out for £499 for £128 and only £100 extra for double the storage, it seemed better value in the long run. Plus he was trying to talk me into getting the I pad air. He has the mini 4, the air and the pro, so he is spoilt for choice.

I have a ridiculous setup. I have the 13 inch M4 with keyboard, the 11 inch M4 with apple pencil and the mini 6 (just bought it on Prime Days this past summer) and found that I use the Mini 6 more than any other device including my phone. I am not sure what the future holds for my M4s but, I will probably just hold on to both of them (i have zero money in them thanks to a casino give away for the 13 inch and amex points for the 11 inch) so, I have no real reason to move them along. But, the mini is really driving my decisions. I saw one person that had a very cool use case where he left the phone at home and primarily used the apple watch ultra with cellular and the mini 7 with cellular and that was it. Almost sounds perfect and wonder if anyone else has tried this?

I don’t have a laptop, but I’m looking to use this iPad for when I travel mostly on planes. This may sound obvious but it depends on your uses. If you keep most of your photos in the cloud and stream all your media and don’t plan on downloading huge games to the decide, 128GB could absolutely work for a lot of people. But some files can eat that storage up in a massive way (as an example the GTA game shown here is around 7GB just by itself).
