Lite_ly Salted, giving me the confidence to play a game in which I have no clue what I'm doing. Salute sir! Thanks for all the help in Uboat. I hope this finds you well.
I figured out that when they ping you on sonar they are detecting the sound of your propellers so if you go full quiet they will go pass your submarine 1 km to 2 km away when they go on top of you it’s because you were probably running at 1 speed while being sonar pinged also the sonar ping is what determines the depth of the charges so if your ping at the bottom floor climb a little while your engines are off. I already avoided 4 warships in a convoy utilizing this method on the hardest difficulty
I thought that too, but after doing research back in the days the ping system wasn’t as sophisticated as it is now they used the sound waves that your propellers give off in the water, and the reason why your crew goes quiet is because the vibrations of sound goes into the hull and that’s how they would detect it, but if you went full quiet and not produce any sound vibrations the sonar wouldn’t pick it up
After reading I decided to test it out and so far it’s worked like a charm I go in sink the ships then pull out without a single issue I don’t even worry about depth charges anymore because they are always Km’s away
@@sharpdodgerYou’re completely wrong and your research is wrong. Active sonar and passive sonar are two completely different things. The active sonar detects the return of the ping bouncing off the hull- not the noise being produced by the boat itself. Passive sonar is literally just a dude listening to sounds on a powerful microphone. Do better research next time.
I'm thinking the flares are modeled wrong. I served on a WW2 type destroyer many years ago (HMAS Vampire) and saw star shells many times. They don't leave the barrels alight they ignite when they get to the target area. They burst into life and float down on a parachute. They took about a minute and a half to float down and hit the water. They are very bright and use phosphorous. I don't know if they behaved that way during the war (but I'm guessing they did).
I´ve been following your tutorial videos and wanted to see how do yo managed to get off from Depth Charges. Although intense and amazing I can´t see how do your make your choices for changing depth, rudder control, etc. You are in orbit view. But actually can see the DC´s coming down? I´d check more to figure out. I learned about the noise and how to lower it.
I feel like AI is still cheating as of 2022.01 update the enemy doesnt need to set depth charge explosion depth they're sort of automatic. it ruins your day no matter how much up and down movement you do. what I found best is run silent, full speed, until explosions happen, hard turn, engines dead stop, wait. if you see on the map ship is above you its a good chance you'll die if you dont start moving again. your depth changes are barely any help unfortunately, speed and direction changes are most efficient
@@Lite_lySalted i tested it again and maybe my tactic is bad or AI just has laser rangefinders and active guidance for the depth charges, but rising in depth resulted in being hit a few times now while hunted by convoy escorts. Also weird thing i noticed reloading the same save and using time compression while deep and standstill has a high chance of AI ships forgetting about you. But the other 20% you will see on the map that suddenly one destroyer has your exact GPS coordinates and locked you on his active ASW radar (2030 technology) no matter how silent and deep you were. Reloading and time compression seems to break that super AI.
Im fairly new to the game, only been playing off and on for a few months now. I just got depth charged to hell 😂. I was down almost at danger depth and they pinged me on sonar. As the destroyer was coming up to me a increased speed and tried to make a sharp turn but it didnt work lol. Engine room was flooded almost instantly and i never realized until now that you have to give your crew spare parts and medkits and manually make them fix things and heal your crew. I thought they would kinda do it automatically but no 😂
Me: Trying to get my crew to survive and not be depth charged to 4000m abyssal oblivion.
Crew: "Too much work from officers" 😒
Typical lol
Well done, you've kept the crew alive for another day in April 45. The tension mounts!

I'm well, thanks. Happy hunting!

Nor exactly; a ping creates an echo against your hull. If they are pinging where you are, the return echo gives you away.

@@sharpdodger my experience has been different. Agree to disagree.

hell yeah if you can dodge a depth charge you can dodge a ball! o7

Early access game
That was intense! Great job!😅
Thanks!

There's no real trick to it, just experience. How deep you are and how fast, the speed and direction of the DD, etc.
Kung Fu Panda, wait no you are right it was The Core.
😅
this is the least white crew of a uboat i have ever seen
why not go flank speed when the depth charges are exploding. They cannot hear you when the depth charges are going off.
Didn't see a reason to during this run

I have been able to dive under the charges as they come down. They seem to set the depth per string

What were the best tactics to counter the hunting destroyers and corvettes with their ASDIC?
Cheers
I'm not much of a history buff, sorry
@@Lite_lySalted OK.
Thanks
hey lite_ly salted i have a question, what do you do when you are doing the bear island mission and they haven't sent a radio in days
Did you set up the weather station?
anyone else think this dude sounds like markaplier?
Damn don't I wish lol

Yeah you have to adjust their taskings and schedule and stuff for that
I didnt even know this game existed 🫢
Welcome aboard then!
