I, being very interested in psychology, appreciate your videos about Jung so much. Not only am I getting super relaxed and calm, I'm also able to learn something new. And that's great! You're one of my favourite ASMRtists for a reason ER! Keep up the great work! Much love ~♥
That fear thing is true. Like when you're working and someone comes in and they're more qualified or smarter. People fear that so they try to discredit and bring that person down, instead of befriend and learn from that person. One of many examples.
I'd like to thank you Paul, for introducing me to Jung and Jungian Psychology. I am currently reading The Red Book (Liber Novus), and your insight on his works has been very beneficial to me. Again, thank you very much, for all you do for not only the ASMR community, but for me as well. Ben.
love it, so much of what you say rings true for me and my time so far at university (must read the next chapter, must write the next paragraph etc). i love how your video's can be so interesting and deep and yet be relaxing.
I'm a psych student who wanted to relax and review my lecture on the same time and I never got through the video without falling asleep.. hahaha It's too much relaxing to concentrate :)
I like your exploration of Jung's thoughts. His ideas are pretty much taboo in today's psychology, which, by being an unease, betrays something important. I think we're missing a huge part by ignoring his legacy.
one of my favorite ways to relax is to put o one of your vlogs and play some solitaire. thank you for these videos, sometimes i like to listen to your insight and sometimes i only hear the sound of your voice, and both are really nice. 8)
Your videos are fantastic they just keep getting better. Could you make a video either a lounge or a sanctuary dedicated to people who suffer with addiction to drugs, cigarets and alcoholics. I know a lot of people trying to quit things turn to asmr.
Good discussion. I would like to see more of these videos on a range of topics. I think it would open up some really interesting discussions. It's like an ASMR Classroom.
I've taken 4 psychology class at a college level and my professors didn't advocate one perspective as being the most accurate, but Carl Jung was a Analytical psychologist. There any many "current" psychological perspectives, but the most commons ones tend to be Positive Psychology, Social Psychology and Cognitive Psychology. I feel like most people, when they talk about psychological perspectives, talk as if a theory is a law simply because they personally identify. But essentially no perspective is law because it's only a theory, and theories aren't quite unfalsifiable. ER you're essentially talking about Analytical Psychology and it's simple a high emphasis of the Psyche.
I think you would make a really Good counciller/psychiatrist. You come across very patient, understanding and approachable. Not to mention on how open minded and aware you are of certain topics.
I highly recommend you watching David Foster Wallace's - This Is Water speech that's on youtube. It's great and it sort of speaks along the same lines as you are.
Carl Jung was for the INDIVIDUAL first. Not collectivsm. First off You don't understand the collective unconscious. Second. You have it all backwards. The collective in the sense that you are speaking is composed of individuals. So basically they are more important than the collective. Its like a house. The INDIVIDUAL is the foundation that comes FIRST before the roof. Period. Groups can't suffer. Only individuals. YOU WILL NOT LIVE TO SEE THE DAY WHEN THINGS GET BETTER. Your desire to see the system become a utopia now, is naive and EVIL. Individuation beings with YOU! Even at the species level. All the gods, all the heavens, all the hells are within YOU!- Joseph Campbell. Individuals are the foundation for Unity, like the group is the completion of the roof to create a home.
I've shared your ASMR videos with my mother and we love hearing you read from Carl Jung's Red Book. If you could do another readthrough of his material, I'm sure many would appreciate the educational ASMR experience :)
People often scrutinise others for what what they see in them selves. For example, I often dislike people with inflated views of themselves, and I often find it hard to realise that that I dislike them because I see it as a reflection of my own inflated ego.
Hello ER I have been struggling morally for a while now and these videos have really helped me as a young adult. I am wondering if you could do a ASMR vlog about doing the right thing and what that means to you?
Hello ! I am à big fan of your video since you start making it!! Its the first time i whrite something in your comment!! But i have a big suggestion for you !! What about making another part for your zombie apocalypse roleplay! ! i think this one of your best video and i hope Its not done for this series!! Thanks
Hey E.R When are you gonna do another chess video? I've been watching ASMRChess's videos and hes quite spectacular to say the least, and it made me think of the chess video you made so long ago. I advise you and others to check out his channel! Great video btw, keep up the good work man.
Hey Rift, I'm curious, have you looked into personality archetypes like myers-briggs? I'm curious as to what your 'personality type' is. :o For example I am an "ISTJ" which stands for 'Introvert Sensing Thinking Judging'
MrAsianadam Yes and whenever I've taken one of those it said I was an INFP or INFJ. One of these days I want to do a video about that. Do you think yours is accurate?
Ephemeral Rift I do! And that's odd to hear, actually! One of my best friends keeps getting INFP or INFJ, and its always one or the other, haha. But for me its always been consistently ISTJ. I do believe my result is accurate!
A balance between happy and sad? That sounds like a compromise. I know the kind of "happy people" you describe tend to be superficial, but being truly happy isn't anything to avoid because of that. Happiness is a rare thing, and if some finds you, you should never turn it down for the sake of a quota or fear of some stereotype.
Do you think that if you had discovered these things at an earlier time, you would have tried to become an ''expert'' in Philosophy, or something of the kind? (I am referring to the passage that you are a ''jack of all trades'' but are an expert in nothing - which I relate to)
Not being an empath could be easily construed as a good thing because they are forced to have a natural grasp of cause and effect with the world, society, psychology because if they don't, they do not have empathy to fall back on to make sure they do not grate along adversity or differences. One must then be very analytic/perceptive/pragmatic. Well, assuming they don't enjoy loss, trouble, etc. I mean it's as you said, our actions cause a chain reaction, it's almost karmic in how reckless or disregarding behavior is just not helpful to yourself even if you think you are being self-serving by acting that way. There are reasons we just do not go inflict violence and such things whenever we may want to and it's not necessarily empathy or even good intentions. Living "good" also has the benefit of just making the most sense.
I know Ego is a big thing... person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance...when the Maslow's hierachy of need is broken then ego comes..www.psychologytoday.com/blog/hide-and-seek/201205/our-hierarchy-needs .. Vulnerability and transparency very crucial in the growth on one self..you right..fear is the driving factor..but people get hurt during the process and some with broken relationships....
I think achieving a healthy, balanced Ego is the idea, in my opinion, if that's even possible. Not going to one extreme (inflated ego) or the other (low self esteem). Thanks for your comment.
The number of times I heard "I am" in this video about egocentrism is hilarious. "I love to dig and analyze and understand, I love to 'philosphize', I've struggled with depression, I'm a jack of all trades, everything is meaningless." Constructive criticism: Stop promoting your self-image as a deep-thinker to everyone, it makes it unbelievable and a somewhat bad match for a discussion on ego. Talk about what interests you, and people will come to naturally view you as an image of what you enjoy. Anyone can say they enjoy philosophy, deep thinking, etc. all for the image of alternative it creates. This is what a hipster is. Don't be a hipster.
I'm glad someone else feels this way. I hate to say it, because he's a good ASMRtist, and seems like a nice guy... But there's always that "yeah, I go to starbucks, i'm majoring in life studies, i'm a philosopher." Just so untastefully pretend.
I understand that, but i mean hidding your happiness its just too much, i mean when im happy i wanna act happy and be happy and i think beeing like that actually have a positive infuence on people...
You'll get through this. Experiencing "egodeath" often makes you feel anxious and especially vulnerable. You're not alone in feeling like this. It feels liberating but overwhelming at the same time. So overwhelmimg that your brain just doesn't know what to do with it. Like a dog who's free from the leach after pulling in frustration. He runs to freedom, though he does not know what to do with it. It's so much. It's terrifying. Keep your head up. Stay strong.
I love his videos like this because it seems like unintentional ASMR. Which is a huge trigger for many people, myself included.
I miss videos like this
I, being very interested in psychology, appreciate your videos about Jung so much. Not only am I getting super relaxed and calm, I'm also able to learn something new. And that's great! You're one of my favourite ASMRtists for a reason ER! Keep up the great work! Much love ~♥
when I saw the title I thought it said Let's talk eggo. Let's talk waffles!
''bitchen'
That fear thing is true. Like when you're working and someone comes in and they're more qualified or smarter. People fear that so they try to discredit and bring that person down, instead of befriend and learn from that person. One of many examples.
Love going back to your older philosophical deep rambles, been my favourite for far to long now:)
I'd like to thank you Paul, for introducing me to Jung and Jungian Psychology. I am currently reading The Red Book (Liber Novus), and your insight on his works has been very beneficial to me. Again, thank you very much, for all you do for not only the ASMR community, but for me as well. Ben.
Thank you ER! ^~^ I cannot express how much we all appreciate your effort and hard work that you put into these videos
Wow, incredible sense of fashion, face structure, incredible taste in picking everything. Wow.. just, impressive masterpiece
love it, so much of what you say rings true for me and my time so far at university (must read the next chapter, must write the next paragraph etc). i love how your video's can be so interesting and deep and yet be relaxing.
Yay! Now I have something to listen to while I make flashcards! It's going to make studying so much more relaxing! Thank you! =)
The cleaning the chalkboard sounds were SOOO good to my heart. Love this video.
Love the video ER! I think its very healthy to be concious of how you appear to others and I think it helps you keep your act in check.
I totally relate to the way you think and see things, very enjoyable to listen to someone like you talk!
***** Hey thanks. Always great to hear from like-minded folks like yourself.
I'm a psych student who wanted to relax and review my lecture on the same time and I never got through the video without falling asleep.. hahaha It's too much relaxing to concentrate :)
Is it possible to do a video on addiction and various ways of self medication? Thanks for what you do bro.
Definitely. It's been mentioned before. Thanks for your suggestion.
Hey he ended up doing it
I like your exploration of Jung's thoughts. His ideas are pretty much taboo in today's psychology, which, by being an unease, betrays something important. I think we're missing a huge part by ignoring his legacy.
You’re so interesting and intelligent.
Thanks!! The noises of the chalk board was so relaxing I fell asleep in seconds!
Beautiful! I know this wont generate many views nor comments. i guess . But please , continue making these.
Thank you. And numbers is not why I make videos ;) I'll continue to do these even if just 1 person watches.
Ephemeral Rift You are amazing, keep it up bro ! Love your videos and your personality (I myself love costumes and characters as you do) :)
Ephemeral Rift
You have my view! And my subscribership
one of my favorite ways to relax is to put o one of your vlogs and play some solitaire. thank you for these videos, sometimes i like to listen to your insight and sometimes i only hear the sound of your voice, and both are really nice. 8)
Well I hope it helps you win a few games ;)
When you said "like a jack of all trades and a master of none" I thought of the city and colour song 'the grand optimist'
I've been waiting for this vid for months, tnx and keep up the great work :D
Your videos are fantastic they just keep getting better. Could you make a video either a lounge or a sanctuary dedicated to people who suffer with addiction to drugs, cigarets and alcoholics. I know a lot of people trying to quit things turn to asmr.
I love what you do man
Thanks much
Your ASMR videos really are brilliant. Great triggers and articulation. They also seem well written.
Good discussion. I would like to see more of these videos on a range of topics. I think it would open up some really interesting discussions. It's like an ASMR Classroom.
Also, I really admire your honesty and candor.
I've taken 4 psychology class at a college level and my professors didn't advocate one perspective as being the most accurate, but Carl Jung was a Analytical psychologist. ER you're essentially talking about Analytical Psychology and it's simple a high emphasis of the Psyche.
You, sir, are very intelligent. I can truly relate to you as a person and agree with practically everything you say. Thanks for an intriguing hour!
I think you would make a really Good counciller/psychiatrist. You come across very patient, understanding and approachable. Not to mention on how open minded and aware you are of certain topics.
I watch a alt history video about egoism, I get reccomended this 4 year old video by my favorite asmrtist
HEY your that Elephant Rip guy, Very Awesome!
Lighting is setup so well. Damn good quality.
Still can't believe he's gone 😔
Very relaxing but at the same time very interesting things you say in all of ur vids, i'm a fan ;)
Ephemeral Rift, this video was very helpful for me. Thanks again. Rock on.
I highly recommend you watching David Foster Wallace's - This Is Water speech that's on youtube. It's great and it sort of speaks along the same lines as you are.
Thanks for the suggestion I will look into it.
Don't keep bounds on being happy. The goal of life is too enjoy it as much as you want
The individual is insignificant. Only as a collective can we truly make a difference.
Carl Jung was for the INDIVIDUAL first. Not collectivsm. First off You don't understand the collective unconscious. Second. You have it all backwards. The collective in the sense that you are speaking is composed of individuals. So basically they are more important than the collective. Its like a house. All the gods, all the heavens, all the hells are within YOU!- Joseph Campbell.
Individuals are the foundation for Unity, like the group is the completion of the roof to create a home.
Sounding like a true communist, the individual doesn't matter, only what party or group you fall under.
Why isn't anyone talking about the waffles!?
Love your stuff dude. 💪💪
I've shared your ASMR videos with my mother and we love hearing you read from Carl Jung's Red Book. If you could do another readthrough of his material, I'm sure many would appreciate the educational ASMR experience :)

As a person who struggles with NPD this made me feel alot better but also terrible cause I know what I am but don't really know how to stop it
hey Mr. Rift, if you're into this you should look into metaphysics. would love to see a video about that. cheers!
I am a Shadow, the true self.
Wonder if anyone's gonna get the reference.
Hello ER I have been struggling morally for a while now and these videos have really helped me as a young adult. I am wondering if you could do a ASMR vlog about doing the right thing and what that means to you?
I use your videos to fall asleep (not meaning in an insulting way)
You should do a video on personal image I think it could be a great topic
Lovely video. As for a future suggestion, what about your thoughts on dreams and dreaming? Or perhaps guilt.
35:17 did i just hear a whistle with your "s" sound? XD
Hello ! I am à big fan of your video since you start making it!! Its the first time i whrite something in your comment!! But i have a big suggestion for you !! Happy birthday :)

you should talk about anarchist beliefs, if you're into that stuff
A topic about the seduction and love
Do you think that if you had discovered these things at an earlier time, you would have tried to become an ''expert'' in Philosophy, or something of the kind? (I am referring to the passage that you are a ''jack of all trades'' but are an expert in nothing - which I relate to)
And the Nobel prize in ASMR goes to Ephemeral Rift.

Lets talk Lego
Yeah, everything is awsome, everything is cool when you're part of a team...
Are you saying that being full of yourself is bad

You've put to words what I've been thinking all along since the beginning of ER's "deeply philosophical" videos...
I'm glad someone else feels this way. I hate to say it, because he's a good ASMRtist, and seems like a nice guy... But there's always that "yeah, I go to starbucks, i'm majoring in life studies, i'm a philosopher."
